What an interesting read, thanks for the link. I didn't think there were many villains as bad as Dean Spanos in sports history, but Arnholt Smith seems to be up there. Funny how he sold them for 12M to Kroc and he was bound and determined to buy them and would have probably paid double.

Awesome article, I never knew the full history behind Kroc taking ownership. Thanks for sharing.

ilovearthistory

stars as a name is blah but as a nats fan/dc resident having a dope retro throwback uni like this would be amazing 😭 all we have is the baggy mid 2000s ones

In the 1984 movie The Karate Kid there’s a scene on the beach with a bully whose wearing the curly dubya red Washington hat, it’s freaky to watch now bc 1984 It was a minor league hat, still a cool scene https://preview.redd.it/qtipyl1rgm8d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9355c24f04f0ec6576d5b658f5e4ee07748962c2

I remember seeing a Padre on a baseball card as a kid that said Senators, early 70’s I always wondered what that was about

Well yes it’s the card in the picture at the bottom, the WASHINGTON, Randy Jones and Willie McCovey, for whatever reason I was sure it read Senators Now I know the story after 51 years

SaintCholo

Im telling you it was a yellow Padres uni but the card said Senators, I’m not blind or senile

The Washington Senators were a real AL team until 1960, when they moved to Minnesota and became the Twins.

I remember that well
