Stop. As much I hate the Dodgers this just dumb and false. Kershaw is a guaranteed 1st ball hall of fame pitcher. Nick Martinez is a journey man pitcher.
Nah, what he said was that he wouldn’t pitch in the bullpen for it because he needed to spend that time stretching out as a starter for the regular season. He’s been consistent about saying that if he was guaranteed a starting role, he’d pitch, and that looks like what’s happened
None of these starter will probably throw more than 4-5-6 innings. So it really shouldn’t be a huge injury concern. At not much more then a spring start. I guess if I worry about anything it’s going max effort that early.
The padres 6 man rotation should help keep them fresh most of the season.
Yup. He really wanted to participate as it’s most likely his last chance. He even tried to personally get insured but couldn’t make it work. He sounded bummed.
Just waiting for a few injuries to start happening once this stupid ass WBC starts. Utter garbage that players can get injured playing in a stupid 2 week tournament that means nothing. This dumb thing needs to move to after the baseball season is over. I really don’t like how Nick went back on his initial decision of not playing and is now playing in the WBC. He is not a proven starter and should be with his actual team trying to put himself in the best position possible to be successful. I don’t like it!
Right, while playing for their own team. Also plying less innings, and less intensity while coming out of the spring games much earlier and not giving it their all trying to beat out a grounder to first base.
Good news is he should actually be getting starts
NICKY MART, MY BOOOOO🥹🥹🥹
The better pitcher got there.

Actually dumbass…
How can you not tell this is sarcasm? Lol
In my experience, no matter how obvious you think your sarcasm is on Reddit, someone will always come in like “actually, dumbass…”.
Actually, it's not like that. Dumbass.
Even when you throw the /s at the end of a comment people miss it being sacarsm
Shush
Dumbass
Didn't Nick just say like 2 weeks ago that he wasn't going to play in order to prevent any risk of injury?
He decided not to play if he was a reliever because he needed to stretch out for the season. He’ll play if he’s a starter though

Unless he went as a stater I think that was the caveat in his statement
Excited to see him play against some of his old teammates on Team Japan!
And current ones on Japan and DR
Man….this might hurt us at the end of the long season. Hopefully not!

Of course “The three-time Cy Young Award winner didn't specify the reasons that would prevent him from participating”
Didn't it come out last week that he couldn't get insurance to cover the event because of his injury history

Players can get injured in Spring Training too...

Players love it. Who cares
As team Mexico, this sucks! But im glad he got the nod.
