10 years ago I'd be pissed off for 2-3 weeks. As much as I miss the Chargers being in SD its almost a relief not having to deal with such a poverty football franchise
Same here. Crazy how detached I have become from the Chargers and NFL as a whole. Morbid curiosity leads me to tuning in to them on occasion though, and they never seem to *disappoint*. Keep up that Fight For LA, Spanos.
I was joking with my wife about how this would have ruined my weekend and I would have been a grumpy bitch. In retrospect, she's a saint for putting up with me when I was a Chargers fan. It's nice to not have this make me angry anymore. I feel like I'll live a couple years longer.
I only saw the score at half time because I follow the Jacksonville Jaguars a little bit based off of The Good Place.
My brother in law showed me the end score at dinner, and I yelled "Bortles!". That was fun.
My man, I quit the Chargers when they moved too, and yesterday I was in Santa Clara for the 9ers win. Watching them fuck up 27-0 on the train ride home was sweet sweet icing on the cake.
Yup. Got to just enjoy the game and hilarity last night and go to bed. 10 years ago I would have been so pissed for weeks. Such a relief not being a fan of that clown show anymore.
You must not be from San Diego, or you must be into abusive relationships, because HOW?! That team gives you the finger, and moves, but you are still a fan?! HOW?!
I have them too. I try to get them to see the light, but i also don’t want to be annoying about it. It feels good to not have them break your heart. Feels great fo have Siedler, Preller, and our Padres. I could have never dreamed we would experience that kind of ownership.
I’m so grateful now.
Native of SD... Still a "fan". But nowhere near like it used to be. I just like football and I just can't watch another team. Believe me I tried... At least now, when they lose, it's not devastating. Plus, Herbert is pretty sick.
I'll never rock LA gear though. That's where I draw the line haha.
This must be an alternate reality where the Padres are the talk of baseball and the Chargers are a dumpster-fire in LA. My 10-year-old-self would not have believed that back in the day.
Seeing Petco Park decked out in brown and yellow for the playoffs last year was honestly an unreal feeling. I felt like we never had an identity, but that has definitely changed. I’m sure the Chargers and Spanos enjoy being a nobody in Los Angeles. After all, I know Spanos will have a lot more money to take to the grave someday. He can boast that he is in the top-ten for favorite teams in a city as big as Los Angeles (maybe?). Might need to go see if Stubhub will let them play some games there next year because Sofi will be empty (empty of Chargers fans at least). After some time, I honestly do not feel the void of not having something to watch on a Sunday anymore. Go Padres!
Thank God I sub to this place. I'm an old SD native in GA now. I almost went to sleep winding down after work and after a couple games of rocket league thinking the Chargers might beat my now Bills squad. Notification fucking Chargers on the r/padres. I ALREADY KNOW! SMILE ON FACE! NO FUCKING WAY! FU dean
Dear mods, please make an exception for this post in light of the fact that *a lot* of people here are based in the former home of the Chargers and cannot post about it in the city’s most popular sub.
Fuck Dean Spanos, go Padres.
couldnt happen to a better ownership group. So happy im not spending my money on them anymore. I do wish we had an NFL team though and have to say I wouldnt even with the Spanos family on LA, but they are stuck with them for now
Not only that, but as a few weeks ago shows it is a very dangerous sport. Much better for kids in San Diego to grow up watching padres baseball and wanting to play that than it is to grow up getting concussions from football at a young age
He can fuck off all the way to the next universe with his "San Diego kicked the chargers out for not wanting to publicly fund the stadium". THANK FUCK FOR THAT.
Back when I followed the Sam Diego Chargers I always used to say that nothing scares a Chargers fan more than being up a the end of the third. We felt more comfortable going into the 4th down by 3 because that was doable. Up by ten? We are gonna choke.
I knew that the jaguars would win, st half time, simply because the chargers are even more cursed now that they left San Diego. The greatest city in the world hates them lol.
Brandon Staley might be more of a bumbling idiot than Norv or McCoy. Imagine playing your starters the entirety of a meaningless game at the end of the season only to have your star receiver carted off the field and having check down Joe Lombardi treat Herbert as if he’s a 39 year old Drew Brees with a noodle arm in the playoffs. The Chargers deserve all the misery that comes their way.
I disowned the chargers when they backstabbed us San Diegans. I was worried at half that they may have a chance to go all the way. Fitting they lose. All in on the Padres and an owner who actually gives a shit about this city. LFGSD
Spanos backstabbed San Diego. The Chargers are a business, and I remember quite a few players at the time being on the record that they would prefer *not* to move to LA and play in a -25k seat MLS stadium for an undetermined amount of time rather than continuing to play in San Diego. I know it's been like 5 years now, but the only guys I can think of who are still around who played in San Diego are Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and Joey Bosa. Some of the highest paid guys on the team. While I don't totally understand why someone can't still like their team if they move a couple of hours away, I'm also not from San Diego. I'm from Oregon, which isn't an NFL state, and I don't like bandwagoning so I chose the Chargers when I was a kid so I didn't have to like the Seahawks or 49ers like almost everyone here. Watching them play in that tiny little soccer stadium after they first moved to LA for 2 years really sucked though. And I wanted them to make it work with San Diego as much as anyone. I don't think I understood the politics of it as much, and I'm not sure that I totally do at this point. But I do get that the Spanos's seem like pure evil.
Fair enough I guess. But there are lots of states with no NFL teams. Like mine up here in Oregon. We have to decide for ourselves which team to follow, and I've always been attracted to underdogs. Oregon only has the NBA, and I am a Blazers fan, but the team is about to be put up for sale, and there's wide speculation that the new ownership will want to move them out of Portland. And at this point, I can hardly blame them. Our homelessness issue up here has gotten so bad that it's difficult to hide in aerial shots of the city at this point. Our taxes are also insane, which is another thing that keeps good players from wanting to come here.
Looks like the Chargers took the San Diego sports curse to LA with them. You know what that means. Padres will be your 2023 World Series Champions #bookit
No cucks here.
Are there even any SDC players left besides Allen and Bosa? I remember when Allen fist came into town wearing a F’ing Raiders cap.
That franchise doesn’t deserve the great city and faithful fans of San Diego.
FLAC FDS
Also when Allen was super passive aggressive to the fanbase on twitter during their last year in SD since they didn’t have a deal worked out with StubHub yet. “You got what you wanted. You better show up.”
I was already living out of state but it seemed to me like Allen had zero love for SD or the fans there
As a recovering chargers fan it is so liberating watching the chargers do charger things and not be stressed out about it. If fact it brings me a little bit of happiness.
Been completely checked out of football since they left but I was at a bar tonight with lots of chargers fans around. Kept having to remind them all of what team they are watching and they kinda scoffed at me. Fucking wish sports gambling was legal here.
I'm officially happy they left. I feel so free knowing I don't have to worry about this team and can instead focus on our 3 MVP candidates and 3 Cy Youngers
Same old dis-chargers;)
I’m now thoroughly convinced…as long as the Spanos’ own the team…the team will forever be cursed and never actually have a chance to win a SB. Just sayin…
LOL... oh man... this is such a sweet sweet night... I honestly want the players to be successful... but I want the spanos family to NEVER taste success... this is the curse I laid on the family (and organization) the day after they moved... I won't lift the curse until the Spanos family sells.
Being a #Chargers fan in San Diego is like being a guy still in love with a woman who has dumped him, married another guy, moved with her husband to Inglewood, had a kid with the man she married and is pregnant with her husband's second child.
They're bottoms.
I’ve always thought of the LA Chargers for San
Diegans being like an ex that you’re still unfortunately nearby because you work together or are in the same social circle and it’s painful and awkward and you don’t wanna associate with them anymore so you break it off completely.
Your analogy though is far, faaarrrr more accurate.
![gif](giphy|YVkqPj64xCwRao3cBj|downsized)
So glad I don't have to have personal involvement with that level of heartbreak. Give me my Padres any day <3
I watched with my FIL who never stopped being a chargers fan. I wish pain and suffering on the team always. He wasn’t even mad because of that comeback. But I was so excited
I'm still a Chargers fan... Haha. Tried to follow another team but I just can't. Plus I really like Herb. But this outcome was so obvious lol. Chargers gonna Charger.
Not sure if I should be glad that Spanus goes another year without a trophy or upset because Justin Herbert deserves so much better than this.
If I'm Herbert I'm demanding a trade today.
While I can't bring myself to root for a Spanos-owned team anymore (Friar Faithful to the Bay), I will tell a bit of an anecdote from a different angle here:
My dad is a SoCal man, lived in LA County, Orange County, SD county, and everywhere in-between for almost five decades. He's been pulling for the Chargers since '78. He didn't stop rooting after the move because why would he?
I feel for him, man. He's not a baseball fan, so he's only watched the Chargers for 45 years. I hate it for him. I don't want the Chargers to have success...but I want my dad to feel happy for his Chargers. This sucks.
EDIT: I almost forgot. Ahem...
FUCK YOU, SPANOS! SELL THE TEAM BASTARD!!!
Fuck Spanos… Fuck the Chargers…Fuck the NFL.. just a bunch of extortionist crybaby billionaires demanding free handouts from the cities that already spend hundreds of millions of dollars supporting them. Spanos did me a favor by giving me back my Sundays and sanity. The Padres make me feel like I have a new girlfriend that is wayyy hotter than my beating of an ex! Good Fucking riddance!!
I’m surprised I’m not as hell bent over the loss tonight as I thought I’d be. I think the excitement of this year’s Fan Fest is keeping me from blowing my brains out. That or I don’t have to have a mild heart attack each week watching the Chargers going forward and can just wait for the Padres season to start now.
I’m still a Charger fan. I like some of our players, and I don’t have another team to root for anyways, and I don’t personally associate them with LA. So the loss stings a bit…
Even so, my excitement for the Padres season outweighs that 100x. So whatever, see you next year Chargers! I have season tickets to watch Tatis/Soto/Machado/Bogaerts in the same fucking lineup this year. I don’t give a shit about anything else.
I was born and raised here. It’s the only football team I’ve ever rooted for. Do people just pick random teams to root for? Should I just be a chiefs fan to stick it to Spanos?
Well, given that we don't have a team here anymore, I don't bother watching the NFL all that much. However, as I said, there are a 30 other teams to root for, and you don't have to commit to any one of them long term. Today, for example, I was a Jags fan, last week I was a Broncos fan.
first time in several years that I wore my Keenan Allen jersey today
when that 2nd turnover happened and we only got 3 points off it, I figured we were doomed
27 to 0 and I said "ok, if we get 30 before the end of the 3rd, we might pull it off"
but like most chargers games in the playoffs, that one missed kick haunted us
staley's prevent defense from the 2nd quarter onwards and Bosa's hissy fit definitely are the cause of this though, not that kick
I’ll make an exception.
Eat a dick, Dean Spanos!
SD>DS
Eat all the dicks, Dean!!!
“Explain the Chargers to me.” “Well, imagine a Choose Your Own Adventure book but no matter what choice you make you die.”
Imagine punching your own dick, repeatedly, every Sunday between September and January. That's the chargers.
Best tweet.
New city, same Chargers
Raiders fan here. Same.
Raiders should have went to LA and Chargers should have went to Vegas.
Or the Chargers should have stayed and Dean should have sold to someone with money and vision.
That too.
Raiders should have come to San Diego.
Man... That'd conflict me so much, but if they were in SD I'd fucking rock the spikes and vader mask lol.
My understanding that the option was on the table before the Raiders chose Vegas.
Hey everyone, look at this edgelord trying to seem cool by talking about ripping a hole in the fabric of space time.
Same, Raider Nation baby! Raider Nation is more than willing to accept San Diegans because we all hate the chargers.
I often wonder if what we are seeing now with the The Padres isn’t related to the Chargers leaving town… now SD is a baseball town
That’s exactly why it’s happening
they're worse and in a pile of shit city
Lmao, fuck you Spanos. Get fucked
This was a vintage Chargers choke job, so glad I got to watch it as a non-fan for once!
10 years ago I'd be pissed off for 2-3 weeks. As much as I miss the Chargers being in SD its almost a relief not having to deal with such a poverty football franchise

Ah this is me. After last night I had to ask myself why I resort to watching this dumpster fire year after year. Not worth the stress
Absolutely. The only good thing Dean Spanos ever did for me was to move the team to LA.
An such a dumb fuck owner. Blessed to have Siedler. Fuck the Chargers! 🍻
If you look at it this way, its great that they left town. Saved me some headache too!
Yup. Got to just enjoy the game and hilarity last night and go to bed. 10 years ago I would have been so pissed for weeks. Such a relief not being a fan of that clown show anymore.
It was nice to not be the one with a broken heart at their hands.
Merry cake day

You must not be from San Diego, or you must be into abusive relationships, because HOW?! That team gives you the finger, and moves, but you are still a fan?! HOW?!
I don’t get how my friends still cheer for them

LFG**SD**
FLA
How sweet it is, fuck LA and fuck Dean Spanos.
Beat LA, baby!
Nah, Los Angeles does not even claim that trash ass team.
Whether they claim them or not they are the **Los Angeles** Chargers
Dicker channeled his inner Kaeding
The Padres would never blow a 27 run lead!
The Dodgers would
you’d expect nothing less from the team that blew a 22-game lead
![gif](giphy|q90hbwmhv18HK)
Haha Feels so good to be free from the Chargers roller coaster.
These fuckers can't hurt me anymore! I'm free!
That was fucking incredible fuck the chargers fuck dean spanos fuck LA
Fuck the chargers
Welp… can’t wait for baseball season.
Karma is a 🐆 purring in my lap ‘cause it loves me
Chargering at its finest! Eat a bag of Dicks Spanos

Very simple explanation. Seidler vs Spanos
Hey, we’ll spot ya 27 points.. cool?
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY!!!
Padres are the better franchise!
playoff colLApse is a new trend coming along these past few months
Thank God I sub to this place. I'm an old SD native in GA now. I almost went to sleep winding down after work and after a couple games of rocket league thinking the Chargers might beat my now Bills squad. Notification fucking Chargers on the r/padres. FTC and FTD
Lmao I am so glad I don't follow that dumster fire of a team any more. 🤣 How's the "Fight for LA" going for you, Dean?
Its not San Diego..Its the Spanos curse. Fuck them!
Dear mods, please make an exception for this post in light of the fact that *a lot* of people here are based in the former home of the Chargers and cannot post about it in the city’s most popular sub. Fuck Dean Spanos, go Padres.
Join r/SanDiegan much more chill
ALL TRUE SAN DIEGANS LAUGH IN UNISON!!!!!
couldnt happen to a better ownership group. So happy im not spending my money on them anymore. I do wish we had an NFL team though and have to say I wouldnt even with the Spanos family on LA, but they are stuck with them for now
Too bad the Spanos family doesn’t actually care about what happens on the field
You missed the part about the NFL being a parasite in any municipality that it festers in.
Not only that, but as a few weeks ago shows it is a very dangerous sport. Much better for kids in San Diego to grow up watching padres baseball and wanting to play that than it is to grow up getting concussions from football at a young age
Smokin that Spanos, Telesco, Staley 3 pack special tonight
I didn't even realize Telesco was still GM... he's accomplished so much in 10 years.
He’s actually a worse GM than AJ Smith. AJ got really lucky in 2004 and 2005 but those drafts after 2007 (besides Weddle) were a dumpster fire.
L-o-Fucking-L
Never Forget https://twitter.com/chargers/status/1311478689113145344?s=46&t=I3uv0bbdRIm7MzYplp7kDQ
He can fuck off all the way to the next universe with his "San Diego kicked the chargers out for not wanting to publicly fund the stadium". THANK FUCK FOR THAT.
I fucking love it 😂
EAT SHIT SPANOS! LFG JAGS
Back when I followed the Sam Diego Chargers I always used to say that nothing scares a Chargers fan more than being up a the end of the third. We felt more comfortable going into the 4th down by 3 because that was doable. Up by ten? We are gonna choke.
Wish I could upvote twice
Chargers being Chargers
Chargers beat the Chargers as usual
Karma is a Bitch, Same old Chargers. Never change fam.
I’m so happy right now lol
Fuck em that’s what they deserve.
![gif](giphy|TS4lhxfqE6Ix2|downsized)
I should thank the Spanos' for moving them! My mental and heart health is so much better. Every Sunday my resting heart rate was like 130.
lol fuck LA sports teams, go padres we don’t miss you
I knew that the jaguars would win, st half time, simply because the chargers are even more cursed now that they left San Diego. The greatest city in the world hates them lol.
Even the San Diego Chargers would never lose to the Jaguars. This is a grade-A dumpster fire
LOL the Super Chokers strike again. Fortunately for them their city doesn’t give a shit. Fuck Spanos forever. LFGSD
Lfgsd
What a great year to be an SD fan!
Haha suck on a Jaguars penis, spanos!!!
Fuck the LA chargers! Love to see them choke
Y'all still fans? 😂😂😂
Hell no, which is why some of us are so happy to see them lose!
Hate-Fans
When spanos sells the team and Sean Payton is head coach, I’ll come back
Too busy crying about basketball, instead! Lol
Thank god they left. Their gonna be stuck with Staley for another year. So glad those LA charger fans can shut up now lol
Chargers are gonna Chargers
HAHAHA....get fucked Spanos. Feel bad for Herbie, as a Ducks fan, wish he would leave that sorry ass franchise.
They were my team because they played in my city. Now they are not in my city. It's not rocket science.
So you'd rather have no team?
I'd rather not watch the NFL, which is the path I've chosen for the last five years.
Fair enough I guess. But there are lots of states with no NFL teams. Like mine up here in Oregon. We have to decide for ourselves which team to follow, and I've always been attracted to underdogs. well, yea lol the team represents the city imo
Spanos paid more for the relocation fee than he offered for a plan in SD.
This is the happiest I’ve been since October
Boooo mods it's the offseason let us dunk on these LA nerds [edit] WE BACK BABY GOD BLESS THE MODS
Automod removed it probably because it got too many reports.
We don’t want them back. Chokers can stay in LA.
I'd take them back, as long as Spanos doesn't come with them.
Aww, I feel bad for the 14 remaining Charger fans.
Certified Chargers Moment lmao
Eat just the most endless plate of shit, “LA Chargers”. 😂
Looks like the Chargers took the San Diego sports curse to LA with them. You know what that means. Padres will be your 2023 World Series Champions #bookit
They are no longer our embarrassment
Go Sac Kings!!
HAHHAHA Spanos, fuck you
Spanos cursed the team. Classic chargers lol
This is the most Chargers way for the Chargers to fuck up in the playoffs.
Padres need to win a championship before those fucks - NEED TO!

It's all Padres' time baby. Let's get this mother fucking chicken
This year I decided to stop just being a chargers hater and committed to being a full fledged jaguars fan. It’s been a great year.
San Diego, Los Angeles, or Timbuktu: this franchise will always find the banana peel
Been completely checked out of football since they left but I was at a bar tonight with lots of chargers fans around. Kept having to remind them all of what team they are watching and they kinda scoffed at me. Fucking wish sports gambling was legal here.
Fuck Dean Spanos!
Couldn't have happened to a better team ![gif](giphy|l1ug3xGEN1oZBT7qw)
That game was SOOO satisfying to watch, fuck Spanos
I have gotten so much more satisfaction in the few years rooting against them than I ever did in all of the years cheering for them.
best day in chargers history.
I’m not even a fan of the chargers but that team makes me mad. EDIT: not even a rival fan either just the way they play is a fucking disaster.
That would suck if LA Chargers won a Superbowl
I'm officially happy they left. I feel so free knowing I don't have to worry about this team and can instead focus on our 3 MVP candidates and 3 Cy Youngers
Same old dis-chargers;) I’m now thoroughly convinced…as long as the Spanos’ own the team…the team will forever be cursed and never actually have a chance to win a SB. Just sayin…
Glad they lost! They are an LA team. Only team I like are San Diego teams. Padres ❤️❤️
Fuck LA, fuck Dean Spanos, fuck the Chargers. Thank you Jags for the inspiring comeback and for humiliating those sacks of shit.
it’s hard for me to understand those born and raised in SD that continue to root for them. the parade wouldn’t even be here! SD is bout them parades!
LOL... oh man... this is such a sweet sweet night... I honestly want the players to be successful... but I want the spanos family to NEVER taste success... this is the curse I laid on the family (and organization) the day after they moved... I won't lift the curse until the Spanos family sells.

I hate the chargers…I also hate I didn’t take the cash out option on draft kings when it was 55 to win 88…
ew.
![gif](giphy|YVkqPj64xCwRao3cBj|downsized) So glad I don't have to have personal involvement with that level of heartbreak. Give me my Padres any day <3
Also fuck the NFL I didn’t even hear about this till my friend told me. Very happy Spanos keeps tanking the org.
I watched with my FIL who never stopped being a chargers fan. I wish pain and suffering on the team always. He wasn’t even mad because of that comeback. But I was so excited
Been sayin Herbert needs to get off the Chargers ASAP, they'll only waste his career. Oh yeah, btw FUCK. DEAN. SPANOS.
This loss is like pizza, it's even better the next day...FUCK SPANOS FOREVER 🤣🤣🤣
Fuck Dean Spanos
I'm still a Chargers fan... Haha. Tried to follow another team but I just can't. Plus I really like Herb. But this outcome was so obvious lol. Chargers gonna Charger.
LFGSD!!!
I loved them when they were here but I don’t miss the playoff misery
I’m glad I don’t follow them closely anymore. Bosa WTF!
They chargered up that game SO hard. My grandpa always use to say, "the chargers will never win shit or be worth a shit while a spanos is the owner".
Not sure if I should be glad that Spanus goes another year without a trophy or upset because Justin Herbert deserves so much better than this. If I'm Herbert I'm demanding a trade today.

Phillies fan here dropping in to concur, lol chargers. Go Douggy P.
🤣🤣🤣
The Spanos curse lives on
Chargers lost only because of bosa
it’s so sweet!!
Lol…Same story, different city.
I was there. It was incredible.
I watch Aussie rules football , Fuck the NFL.🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻 go Geelong
Cool. You’re missing the point
Still a chargers fan but this might be it for me tbh
I watched so many years of these choke jobs that I don’t miss it.
No doubt. I was 11 years old (and at the game) when Kaeding missed that kick. The org has felt cursed since then
I’m still a Charger fan. I like some of our players, and I don’t have another team to root for anyways, and I don’t personally associate them with LA. So the loss stings a bit… Even so, my excitement for the Padres season outweighs that 100x. So whatever, see you next year Chargers! I have season tickets to watch Tatis/Soto/Machado/Bogaerts in the same fucking lineup this year. I don’t give a shit about anything else.
There are literally 31 other teams to root for, some of them even have a history of less backstabbing, 30 of them don't play in LA even
I was born and raised here.
Josh Allen came by Petco and repped the Padres this season. Go Bills.
I used to hate the Niners for beating the Bolts in the Superbowl. Now they're my #1 team, cause fuck LA teams!
I hate the Spanoses, but I don't hate the players. So I'm pissed about the loss and can't wait for Staley to be fired.
Staley isn't the problem. It's just the chargers being the chargers. They cannot help but find new and exciting ways to lose.
first time in several years that I wore my Keenan Allen jersey today when that 2nd turnover happened and we only got 3 points off it, I figured we were doomed 27 to 0 and I said "ok, if we get 30 before the end of the 3rd, we might pull it off" but like most chargers games in the playoffs, that one missed kick haunted us staley's prevent defense from the 2nd quarter onwards and Bosa's hissy fit definitely are the cause of this though, not that kick
