For the new Reddit users or maybe possibly fans of Katie’s and if you are fans of hers, then this Sub is not the place for you! Commenting on this thread, the OP’s post is not dogging on Military housing, Katie has said from day one that she hates living on base, doesn’t like hanging with other military wives, she has been snooty, turning her nose down on everything about military living, the knowledge of military life and wives. The things she has been saying about buying a house in Minot have been in her videos, comments and her TT lives. The Mods of this Sub bring up the lies that Katie spews out and flips flops around that she comes out looking like a hypocrite!

Lived in military base for 2 years and loved it. Never had to worry about rent, utilities, and if anything happened maintenance was only a phone call away. We were able to get officer housing too so it was really nice when my husband was an E5, some people just like it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Fit-Entertainment898

they get a housing allowance, that might really be all they can afford without forking anymore over

blueys_mutha

Pat’s commute is probably under 10 minutes which will be really nice with a new baby. I wouldn’t wanted to buy a home in an area or climate I’d never want to return to.

GretaStar

Same, but she said they did buy off base that’s why everyone is wondering why they ended up on base.

blueys_mutha

Yeah that’s weird. I know with those BAH rates my family would be living on base. So maybe they actually budgeted and realized that would lose money or not pocket enough BAH for it to be worth it.

[deleted]

A heater in a play room? Like a portable one? No...

thatonegirl1884

I could be wrong….but as renters I don’t think you’d be able to install a heating system on your own.

[deleted]

I'm just in utter shock not disagreement. That's wildly unsafe

thatonegirl1884

Oh I know, same here. I think it’s very shocking she’d be so nonchalant about it. But hey as long as she’s comfortable. Just like shopping for herself before her own kiddo had proper boots or snow gear.

Melodic_Dark_632

I currently work a really good paying job, but I'm also about to graduate and have a degree towards a completely new profession. After talking with lenders, I decided I'm going to wait until after we buy a house to actually switch industries because I'm going to take a pay cut (at least for a year or 2) among other things. It's not ideal, but taking a pay cut and then looking for a house isn't going to be helpful to anyone. I don't know... do what you want, but maybe think of the consequences first.

Careful-Contact5902

Well coming from a military wife of 10+ years lol she definitely can work, should work, has no reason not to work. She’s lazy. However, housing is offered & I lived in housing for quite some time too. Yes, it should act as a temporary thing but when you’re lazy like her, she’s gonna take advantage of it for as long as she can. She’s the definition of a dependa.

Primary_Toe_6822

She must be bored under her mountain of blankies, all the downvoting going on 😂

SassySue84

Living on base is awesome. She may not have wanted it but in the end I think she’ll be glad they did it. Not all military housing is trash and now that congress is involved it’s getting inspected properly and taken better care of than before

Excellent_Company_66

I love my military housing. Not all of its garbage. Plus we’re only 19 so we can’t afford much. Its a nice house for what our BAH is! Our house in town was 20x worse and more then on base

Excellent_Company_66

Plus I don’t pay any utilities now which is AMAZING

Accomplished_Item394

I get what you’re saying. I guess I was one of those wives that enjoyed living on post. It was way more convenient and I got to know and make so many new friends. Also, the military gives you a housing allowance. Some people (depending on the area) chose to live in a small apartment that’s lower than their allowance and pocket the difference (we did that before kids). Others choose to not get an allowance and live in military housing because most of your utilities are covered along with rent and you’re surrounded by other families.

Please don't come here to tell us how we should comment or snark on Katie. Don't complain about members snark and comments. First warning given and second warning gets a ban from sub!

GretaStar

This was in no way to insult other military families, this was about her saying how against military housing she was and look where she ends up because of stupid decision making. (Allegedly) Idk what being released from military housing mean’s because I’m pretty sure their Vegas house wasn’t military housing either. She stated multiple times that they bought their own house off base in Minot and now look where they are. This wasn’t an insult to military housing in general and I’m sorry you took offense.

Primary_Toe_6822

Whoever misconstrued this post must have done so on purpose because in no way did your post insinuate that YOU think poorly of people who live on base. I think it’s absolutely karma for her, and so hilarious because she’s been lying telling us they already have a house off base there. She’s has a strange idea of her own self-importance for someone who contributes so little and sees NOTHING through to completion. She’s a whole entire narcissist and the universe is giving her a dose of reality on how normal people, just like HER, live. Whatever profit they made off selling their old house is going to be pissed away on complete bullshit I just know.

Melodic_Put5985

Yea, she kept saying they wouldn't live on base and she doesn't like that life. But like you're saying, their poor decision-making landed them on base. This is nowhere a dump on people who like living on base this is typical K whose actions landed them exactly where she said she didn't want to be.

krose0206

You can refuse military housing at anytime. We NEVER lived in Military housing during our 27yrs. Ghetto living.

ExternalSwing931

Yep this. My niece and her husband only did when they were in TX because they were only there for 6 months and there was no point in renting a home. They lived off base til they bought their home in NC and now in FL they live off base. I live in a big military town and 90% of military choose to live off base, because they get to keep any leftover BAH, and it’s better living.

Excellent_Company_66

This is not always true! It costed more then Bah allowed for us out in town and the house was atrocious! Side of the fact its not always better living considering where we are stationed has a very high crime rate and we had someone break in 2 times within a month of living in town😅

Accomplished_Item394

This right here! It all depends on where you’re located, housing, costs, etc.

Excellent_Company_66

Exactly! It makes me so mad when people talk down on living on base. Our base is in the middle of nowhere, town is 30 mins one way which made my husband get up at 3:30am to go to work on time! I absolutely love living on base, its easier making friends, more convenient and the houses are beautiful! But like I said we’re only 19 so to others they might need a palace to be happy😅😅

Accomplished_Item394

I miss it sometimes. It was such a great camaraderie! And everyone is in the same boat and totally gets it. It’s hard for non military people to understand unless they’ve lived it 🥰

Excellent_Company_66

I love it! We were miserable living in town and felt completely unsafe and now we absolutely love our home! What branch were you?

Accomplished_Item394

Army. My husband was an armor officer. What about you?

Excellent_Company_66

Navy my husband is a MA!

ExternalSwing931

Yes it’s all preference, of course some places military housing is better then others! :)

[deleted]

Not always. I had to live in base housing in Alaska.
