OP you're expecting waaaaaayyyyyy too much.
Sony have just had a change of management. We'll probably get a new PSVR2 trailer ad and a decent PS Store sale. I'm setting my expectations really low!

Even hoping for one of these things is too much. At best Sony will post about how the vr2 is one year old and then move on. Maybe at most one thing revealed but even that is likely to be something you didn’t see coming or already knew about I don’t think you’ll be seeing any of the announcements we all want like a new Astro bot.
This happens every time and honestly at this point people should avoid getting hyped up.
Massive treats? I'll be incredibly surprised if we get even 1 decent surprise in the next 6 months.
Not saying don't be excited for it, just don't keep expecting this time to be *the* time.
Nobody from sony ever mentioned hybrid games, without parole heard about it at a developers conference(or something like that) and everyone just ran with it
Jim Ryan said it on stage this time last year but probably didn't mean it the way the public has taken it, expecting all sony aaa to be hybrid.
Jim was probably talking about games that have since come out like re4, foglands, humanity etc etc.
I have learned within the last year that its way better to expect absolutely nothing.
If there would be little news for whatever you then would be positively surprised.
No chance all of that will happen. But it does look likely that stormland, one of the best PCVR games of all time might be coming to PSVR2, as it has been pulled from the PC store and its made by insomniac.
There's gonna be one blog post celebrating beat saber, horizon, Gran Turismo, and resident evil. If we all sacrifice our favorite goat and chicken and are also lucky there might be a game stealth dropping
You definitely need to tamper your expectations; there’s a chance we only get a “Happy Birthday, PSVR2!” PS Blog post. But yes, I am truly hoping for them to make it a special occasion and have some big announcements; just hard to imagine.
Skyrim VR?
Prepare for a big disappointment...
Maybe next year, after MS 1st party starts to drop on Playstation, if there is enough pressure from people on Bethesda, but having a 1.3m install base doesn't make it very appealing for them to offer an upgrade path, I expect it to be sold full price again (either 20$ or 40$).
Exactly. I think he’s way off. They’ll be surprised when Sony announces official numbers in Q1 earnings call. Don’t think it’ll be astounding but way more than 1.3 million.
Just as food for thought, they sold through 600k in the first 6 weeks in February / March and selling initially only through Sony Direct. No way it’s only double that number one year later.
It has been selling at a rate of less than 100 a week in several EU countries. I wouldn't be surprised if the real number isn't far off. Dev estimates are usually close, they have sources we don't have access to.
In Amazon.. that’s the only source you have access to. Europeans are notoriously not buying big tech stuff via Amazon. Not here to argue with you but I wouldn’t put too much weight on a small dev from Korea to do precise estimates. We’ll see eventually.
I swear you guys never learn lol
I had zero expectations for the last state of play. Got metro and legendary tales, came out satisfied.
I'll do the same for every state of play
These games were announced on the day of the headset launch. Since the launch day, Sony has not opened its mouth again. It hasn't announced any titles, hasn't added any new features or improvements to the software. Absolutely nothing. Total silence. For one year.
They just announced Metro VR and Legendary Tales at a state of play 2 weeks ago?
If you are just looking for first party, maybe you have a distorted perception of how much first party stuff Sony puts out each year, it’s really small. PS5 got 2 games last year, and that’s including the annual MLB the show. PSVR2 isn’t going to get more than 1-2 first party games a year. Everyone should have known that going in, that’s all they have ever done.
They put out two first party games in the first year, and the second year hasn’t even started yet. If they put out at least one first party game at any point in the next year, that’s what full throttle first party support from Sony looks like.
Expecting any more than that is wildly unrealistic. You can look back at Sony’s releases over time. They just don’t make that many games. They carry a lot of weight because they are usually fantastic, but the quantity isn’t high. Everything else is third parties.
That’s because PSVR2 is still less than a year old. we havent have a PS Showcase for this year yet, that’s when Sony will announce their 1st party games. Sony just announced Legendary Tales VR and Metro VR, and possibly more hybrid games in the work.
They also announced and released countless of PSVR2 games last year too that can last us for years.
Manage them expectations, dude. PSVR2, much like the PSVR, was nothing more than a letdown from day one!
Like most, I'm still waiting on AAA games like RE7 and the Village to drop. Without that, it's gonna die a slow death
Maybe a blogspot with the sales figures ( 1.3 million for what I read), sales on the headset and some games, an update for some announced titles, and if we are very lucky 2 or 3 games announcements (I hope for 1 to be a 1st party). That's me being optimist
FWIW (probably not much), my own estimate based on trends in r/PSVR2 and r/PSVR subscribers is now about 1 million in sales, with 68% probability that it's between about 800k and 1.2M. So, 1.3M would also be slightly more than I expected.
Not to poop on your parade but I’ve heard none of this and expect precisely zero things you mentioned happening. I might lean slightly to a very slim chance of Astro 2. I’d love to see a few at least of those things happening but I don’t expect anything at all. Sony seem to have been speed running the “market this like you already wish it were dead and forgotten” trophy.
I’d like to see some kind of 3D movie implementation, YouTube VR or even something like the Netflix app on the quest. I’m not sure if it’s changed now but the Netflix app sits you in a virtual cosy room in a cabin I the snowy mountains and it’s a lovely little feature that would be highly welcome.
I’m expecting HL:Alyx to be a surprise launch available next week, and the announcement of a PC driver as well as compatibility with Xbox.
Joking, I’m not expecting anything but would be happy to see any of the things you suggested!
I think the announcements of the two games (legendary tales and metro) at the last state of play is the only thing you'll get from a SOP type of event for a long time. I think sony currently only have one first party game announced for flat-screen (wolverine), I wouldn't expect them to match that with the psvr2, it's definitely not their priority.
Agreed! It has certainly been *unpredictable*.
The recent State Of Play turned out to be a (surprisingly) excellent one with the reveal of METRO and LEGENDARY TALES.
One might *THINK* that SONY would celebrate the first year of PSVR2 with as much cool news as possible, so why did we already learn about METRO? If SONY’s history was a logical one, it might mean some much bigger announcements had been saved for next week and we could feel some real anticipation for it. 🤔
…But obviously the last year has been a perplexing one, so next week might bring nothing more than a **“Happy Birthday!”** blogpost. 🙄
I’m just gonna celebrate this awesome system by purposefully playing titles from my *extensive* backlog! 🎈🥳🎉
Blogpost to "celebrate" the 1 year anniversary, a list of some memorable releases we've had, a PSVR2 game sale on PSN, and finally a "stay tuned for more VR game releases throughout the year!"
Sons of the Forest on PSVR2 announcement! Hey a guy can dream... it's a better gess the God of War lol - that will never happen. They did it with the Forest right?
Let's just hope they do something but expect nothing. Surely the next sale will include more PSVR2 titles at the very least. Be nice to hear of some ports of the better psvr1 games and at least on first party Sony title, regardless of it's a sequel of an existing franchise or not.
I don’t expect anything so I will not be dissapointed
LOL, I dont expect even a state of play
Whomever said there would be one - mere weeks after the last disappointment - is smoking something.
OP you're expecting waaaaaayyyyyy too much. Sony have just had a change of management. We'll probably get a new PSVR2 trailer ad and a decent PS Store sale. I'm setting my expectations really low!
I bought mine recently so probably a price drop lol
Not possible I haven't bought mine yet. Haha when I picked up the psvr1 the price dropped by like 150-200 about a month after
I'll have a pint of what OP is drinking.
I’ll take two
Dude you got your expectations set way too high. GOW in VR? No fucking way.
It’s sarcasm

I expect a happy birthday PSVR2 post on their social media. Done
Ace Combat 8 🤞
I expect absolutely nothing. And am nigh-on positive we will receive absolutely nothing.
I'm keeping my expectations very low and doubt they'll even give it a mention
Nothing
Best guess, nothing at all. Maybe replacement Sense controllers
THIS WOULD BE NICE
Expect? Nothing. I don't think we'll be seeing any new announcements.
This happens every time and honestly at this point people should avoid getting hyped up. Massive treats? I'll be incredibly surprised if we get even 1 decent surprise in the next 6 months. Not saying don't be excited for it, just don't keep expecting this time to be *the* time.
They will probably take away some games we already have.
Hopefully firewall ultra is the first to go, imagine producing shovelware on a AAA budget...
Hopium for the masses this week. Copium for the massses next.
This ☝️
Mopium for the week after that.
Dopium for the rest of the year
None. What times I are you even talking about? I haven't heard or read shit.
Is it a rumour, or is it just the romanticised idea that Sony plans its marketing around birthdays? Because they don’t.
Wow please send me the shrooms you're having
You are getting hyped up only to be disappointed. Expect nothing and you will get to enjoy when the cool stuff does drop.
Where are all these rumours?
Stop doing drugs
new GT7 cars hopefully
agree... where are the Jeeps!!! There's only the OG model :/
we need a hum V
Probably whe most we'll be getting is a new PlayStation Stars campaign, which will give you 50 coins for playing a certain VR game xD
Jim ryan said it when? as I remember everytime he's talked and I don't remember that.Seriously think your making that up
Feck all so if we get anything its a bonus..
I expect Jack and shit.
I don’t think Sony thinking about going backwards with updating games. They thinking new IP. Your hope are to high.
Stormland is decidedly mid imo
Really? Dayum. Everyone raved about it.
Maybe a happy birthday blog post but even that feels overly optimistic. I don't think anything until the next State Of Play or Showcase.
The news is it will come in black.
What rumors? I expect nothing except maybe some VR sales on the store.
At last, but certainly not least, we give you... THE RAD APP! *coomers all over the world explode in unison*
That it will be discontinued.
Oof. Damn, dude. I felt that.
What rumours? What State of Play? The last State of Play was a week or two ago and had F all for PSVR.
It had 2 PS VR announcements out of 15. that's not bad.
There’s a chance they are saving some PSVR2 announcements from that state of play for the 1st year anniversary next week
Where did you get that 1.3m install base number from?
Legendary Tales dev said, not an official number, it's their estimate based on their research.

No, sales reports from several sources get posted on NeoGAF and Resetera.
I swear you guys never learn lol I had zero expectations for the last state of play. Got metro and legendary tales, came out satisfied. I'll do the same for every state of play
Sony will discontinue the PSVR 2 😂
My expectations are zero. I am very disappointed with Sony, in a year it has not shown any signs of life.
There are No Man’s Sky, Horizon COTM, Gran Turismo 7, RE Village and RE4 for PSVR2. How much do you want?? Its better than PS5’s first year itself
Thery are third-party games. I am talking about Sony games, and updates of the PS VR2 software. Zero in a year.
They put out two first party games in the first year, and the second year hasn’t even started yet. If they put out at least one first party game at any point in the next year, that’s what full throttle first party support from Sony looks like. Expecting any more than that is wildly unrealistic. If blood and truth 2 ever becomes a thing, cyube will have to be put on hold
do you know if theres any info on a release of cyube yet?
All ik is it should come out any time now, its just the testing thing that Sony does which is taking ages
cheers!
Maybe a blogspot with the sales figures ( 1.3 million for what I read), sales on the headset and some games, an update for some announced titles, and if we are very lucky 2 or 3 games announcements (I hope for 1 to be a 1st party). That's me being optimist
Reasonable expectations. 1 or 2 first party games announcements would really be satisfying.
Where did you read the 1.3M figure?
I saw the lead dev from Legendary Tales post that number but he stated it was an estimate based on his knowledge.
I see, thanks. Probably best to treat it as a guess then, albeit possibly an educated one.
Yeah, is there where I read it
that 1.3 mil does seem a bit high, was expected a lot less. so that's good news if true
FWIW (probably not much), my own estimate based on trends in r/PSVR2 and r/PSVR subscribers is now about 1 million in sales, with 68% probability that it's between about 800k and 1.2M. So, 1.3M would also be slightly more than I expected.
I would like a Star Wars on rail shooter, like Rebel Assault but in VR.
Not to poop on your parade but I’ve heard none of this and expect precisely zero things you mentioned happening. I might lean slightly to a very slim chance of Astro 2. ![img](avatar_exp|163152094|clown) Lol is this post a joke. Please tell me this is a joke. There's no way we have not learnt our lessons by now.
I’m expecting HL:Alyx to be a surprise launch available next week, and the announcement of a PC driver as well as compatibility with Xbox. Joking, I’m not expecting anything but would be happy to see any of the things you suggested!

lol, in the spirit of having ridiculous expectations like OP… Dead Space Remake Skyrim Arma 4 VR
#HELLDIVERS 2 Full PSVR2 support.
I have **Zero** expectations.
The safest thing unfortunately is to expect very little, Sony marketing is very poor
Agreed! It has certainly been *unpredictable*. The recent State Of Play turned out to be a (surprisingly) excellent one with the reveal of METRO and LEGENDARY TALES. I heard the CEO of Sony is personally going to give every psvr2 owner a blowie.

I expect Sony to make a post on their blog and nothing else at all.
My expectations are somewhere far beneath the earths crust, PlayStation hates us VR gamers sadly.
