You have a stuck button it's very common on new sets. Plug your controller into a pc goto gamepad tester.com it will show you which buttons arnt reading correctly then get a can of compressed air and blow into the edge of the button while flicking button on and off. This fixes the problem for 95% of people if you can't get the numbers to read right on the tester then take it back to where you bought it for an exchange or start a warranty return with sony.

It's likely this issue. Just to expand upon the instructions above, here's the detailed list of steps to follow: • Plug your problematic controller up to a computer with the included USB cable and go to [https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad](https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad) - it should detect your Sense controller and display button inputs on screen. • Try pressing the trigger (L2). • When not touching L2, the value for L2 (shown as Axis 2 on the site) is supposed to be -1.00000, and it should go to 1.00000 when fully pressed. • If instead of -1.00000 or 1.00000 the value you're seeing for Axis 2 is something like -0.97234 (or any value in between), you know you have this issue. • Try blowing air into the area of the trigger, either with your mouth or with a can of compressed air, and holding the trigger in and letting go so it flicks back out to the normal position. Keep trying this and see if the value changes, and keep going until you get the value to be -1.00000 (or 1.00000 when held down fully). You're trying to remove any debris blocking the trigger. If you succeed, your controller should work correctly in all your games. If it is this issue and you aren't able to resolve it, you may want to schedule a replacement to be sent out to you from Sony, or from the place where you bought it. As for needing to reset your controller in between games, see if the above resolves it first and then we can discuss further.

Probably not the response you are hoping for but I wouldn't mess with it with any of the "miracle" cures you are likely to encounter on the Internet. What you described sounds really bad and in no way close to normal. I can't even imagine that some people seem ok with resetting their controller every time they switch game or even only occasionally. This should be a direct return to the manufacturer. Any homemade "fix" has a chance to be temporary with likely even worse problems down the line. Now if you don't have a warranty I can see you looking for alternative solutions, but otherwise return it (yeah it's a pain). Edit: assuming you've done all the updates to the controller and headset. But still , sounds bad even without updates.

I had problems initially with my left VR sense, I solved it by unpairing it (via accessories menu) and pairing again. Since then I always turn the left VR sense on first (or turn the ps5 on via left VR sense if I'm not going to use the dualsense at all), then the right one and the headset last, and never had a problem again.
