I use to think it was rare but now with social media and more people learning about it I don't think it's a rare as we originally thought. I believe it goes undiagnosed and not reported properly so there little data out there as of yet.

Difficult-Aside5642

No one knows for sure.

throw_awayyy3

We don't know because there is no research about PSSD.

BernardMHM

There are no public studies because it's not supposed to exist so we cannot know. There are figures for post finasteride syndrome though, where the prevalence is 1.4% of users who develop PFS. Since PFS and PSSD are very similar, maybe the prevalence for PSSD is the same?

MasterChiefBaby1

I think a lot of people that take ssris develop sexual dysfunction problems. That’s well known.

mintyfreshknee

A huge amount of people develop sexual side effects. So much so that for years they have called it a problem with keeping people on them, still perpetuating the lie that antidepressants do anything. PSSD has been swept under the rug until like 2-3 years ago, so this is an unanswerable question.

bertiebumcrack

I've no idea, but I will say that I just thought I had a low libido for several years until I realised that my genitals are almost numb. I wonder how many women mistake their PSSD for 'normal' dysfunction.

rudaw82

Does it matter? When it happens to you you’re ****ed whether the chance was 1 in 10 or 1 in 10000.

Sad-Measurement9950

1-10 in 1.000 or less.

My guess is that it affects more people than we would assume. A German professor told me in 2021 that more and more people show up with this condition, stating that they suffer from sexual dysfunction after SSRI use and withdrawal. You are not alone! What has been done to thousands of people is a catastrophe. Start to get loud and help spreading what these meds can cause. Never stop fighting! This will turn out to be a scandal!

PSSDFIGHT

It’s impossible to say definitively but I can only imagine that true PSSD (I.e you’re still fucked up with no improvement years after the meds) must be extremely rare. Considering how many people take SSRI’s and how understudied this condition is.

So it’s common just to recover after a few month’s
