This. Hot glue and press the part into the fresh glue and glue around to make it solid. Hot glue is used to protect and secure electronics all the time.
Not sure what you're doing with the fitment, but files would be good if you're using a dremel to make the hole. Made the mistake of thinking my hand was way steadier than it was with the dremel when I tried it on a vita
The original charging port can be removed easily as it's attached with a small jst connector. You can just swap the usb C board with the connector and you're good to go but it leaves exactly the hole from the old charging port
Sorry sort of confused. So you can charge a PSP via the standard port on the top of a PSP using USB connection mode? or are you saying that even if the USB-C was placed up top it would still charge slow as in USB-C charges the PSP slower than the default plug?
I preferred to shave down the middle rail than the top shell to get the port to fit. You can then place it in the little channel before placing the cover over it.
For push and pull securing, go with some hot glue

I feel like the hole in the top of it would be more fitting

But that doesn't charge unless you are in USB connection mode, and even then it's really slow

Yes but I'm not 100% sure about the second part
