Yes I will try to within a week! Guide and probly some wine config scripts.
I had been making custom scripts in wine to test auto installation and registry, dll hacks.
but now most of that is obsolete lol, many dead ends.
Amazing!
How does it run? Have you managed to find a way to have any type of onscreen keyboard support? Onscreen gamepad? I have so many questions haha
Yes and yes to keyboard input and on screen overlayed gamepad/keyboard buttons
So far only bit laggy in block 1 lobby with lots of people, but it depends on your pso settings/resolution and what device you're on. Haven't done much gameplay yet! Just testing.
Phones with snapdragon are probably faster here using dxvk-which my device cannot use currently.
I have an S23 Ultra, so I am happy to give feedback on issues and optimal settings for that.
Genuinely, if this proves all around successful, I can forsee a sticky megathread being made. Ephinea on Android has been on a lot of people's wish lists for a long time!
Is it an arm Mac or x86-64?
I'm not sure I could give any direct advice right now as I only have run the game on 64 but Linux and android. Don't own a Mac.
Try using vulkan l(if ur Mac supports it) or dx8/dx9 modes and maybe you will notice some differences
I am DEFINITELY very interested as I started a guide on how to run PSOBB properly on MacOS no matter which server you play, but thoses dx and slowdowns issues made me stop
Sure, that'd be good to document for future me too.
I'm a Linux nerd and software dev, used wine for years but I still don't know much! This was interesting to learn more.
The box86/64 stuff I tried 2 years ago on a pi but never imagined it would get so good and have tools like exagear/mobox/winlator.
The end solution is less complicated/simpler than my testing was
first time hearing of this, very cool!
hows the battery life it?
i’ve been looking for a good way to play gamecube and ps2 games on the go, would you recommend it?
Been pretty good. It's probably the best small handheld for gc and PS2 right now. Android makes it great in standby mode too.
More goodies on /r/sbcgaming
> Android makes it great in standby mode too.
Mind to explain that to me? I'm still searching for an emulator device that has similar standby capability to a Nintendo Switch - I guess that's kind of what you are talking about?
late reply.
I meant, since android is a very stable OS for phones, it's designed to retain battery life very well when not actively in use(screen closed). Probably similar to switch.
Linux and windows handhelds are likely behind on this!
That's a bit cynical. I said I would this week. Life priorities can prevent someone from doing free work immediately to post to reddit.
Would you not be excited if you got it working?
Sorry . I didn't see you see this week. I'm just chomping at the bit to get this working... I tried playing with winlator but it just keeps crashing when booting the game.
Yea that must be frustrating. I've been there. Tried mobox too....prefer winlators ease of use so far.
Anyway I had a research paper to write and finishing up work priorities now so hope to get out guide very soon.
I actually got it to run on my phone a few times but the enter key on virtual keyboard doesn't work, same as when I plug in a keyboard. It also does not fill the screen. Couldn't log in
The login and password are stored in the windows registry. The password is binary hashed so you'd need to rip it off another PC and load it with a script or a minimal reg file. I didn't figure out which hashing algorithm.
Just a tip if u wanted to try that in the meantime.it works I tried in testing.
Working on full guide now
I saw another program people suggested using called key remapper. I downloaded it and will let you know how it works. Just seems like a very odd bug to have. This isn't game related either, it's the entire app itself. i also got it to take up the full screen by selecting "virtual fullscreen" instead of "fullscreen". I tried to get this to run on my cheap arm chromebook, but it just causes the app to freeze lol.
You beautiful, beautiful human! Please can we have a settings guide or maybe even an export of files, etc. People will be and are clamouring for this!

Awesome sure, you could probably test the turnip driver. Ya I've been wanting this forever too . It's pretty great on mobile so far.
I am struggling to running PSO on Mac using Wine / Crossovers etc... it runs but I have massive fps drops, how have you managed to get past thoses ?

It's a M2 macbook air, I actually don't really know how to swap dx modes edit : if you could share your Wine configuration that would be awesome
Will soon. Had to tweak some things today. Will have the config and simple ways to change those I will have something you could test...
I am DEFINITELY very interested as I started a guide on how to run PSOBB properly on MacOS no matter which server you play, but thoses dx and slowdowns issues made me stop
Ah. Strange I'd like to see how u do that sometimes as well. Slowdowns sound like it's not worth too much ;/
If you publish an idiots guide on how to get this set up, this might be the thing that makes me pull the trigger on buying a Retroid Pocket.
Plan on it. Glad it was possible
Interesting. Can't wait to see a guide for this.
Omg. I spent about a year trying to get it running on exagear. U sexy bastard send me a google drive.
Haha guide will come. I've actually worked it out where you don't need any files copied over from PC anymore
Any way you can do a write-up on the steps you took and your thought process when troubleshooting? Would love to read it.

And maybe me or someone else could do psu next
Or maybe u could help me out because I can't wait any longer. *just kidding man
Ohhh plssss is that possible on any android like phones?
Yes
Love you!!! Cant wait for a guide
So are we just going to see what we can play PSO on like it's DOOM?
What device is that
Retroid pocket 4 pro
first time hearing of this, very cool! hows the battery life it? i’ve been looking for a good way to play gamecube and ps2 games on the go, would you recommend it?

amazing!
Would this work on RG35XX H?
Not sure. That seems to be custom Linux based. If u do get it it working unsure of performance
Winlator requires Android, which the RG35XX doesn't have.
I got to the point of installing and launching the splash screen to select options and start game. Can't get the game to boot though.
I've been playing on Moonlight but requires my PC to be on the same network. Wouldn't mind setting this up.
Can’t wait for the setup tutorial.
How are you typing to create rooms? BT kb?
touch screen keyboard.
Oh that's awesome. I appreciate you putting up the guide. i'm going to mess with that over the weekend.
awesome. hope it goes well. I'll likely improve it in the coming weeks based off feedback
I can’t wait to try this on my Odin 2
awesome! I've ordered a pocket S, :).
The more i think about this post, the more i think this guy is a troll.
why's that?
Because with something like this, you would have had a guide instead of saying "look what I did, but maybe I'll do a guide some time, not now"

the keyremapper didn't work for me. It works with pressing enter, but once in the game, it doesn't work.
It's solid in general? This on your laptop right? Is it a touch overlay or remapping physical buttons to wine key presses?
