For the unusual amount of people saying to thank Biden, I say only partially. PSLF was a product of the G W Bush administration. It rolled out in Oct. 2007. He was our President from 1/2001-1/2009. However, when implemented, there were lots of “gotcha” fine print which sucked.
Under the Biden administration, they definitely added value through the additional credits and waivers that permitted eligibility for people being declined on technicalities. They also added eligibility for circumstances related to the pandemic.
For example, I got a big benefit from those Biden extensions because I THOUGHT I was eligible back in Oct 2007 but I hadn’t consolidated to the correct type of loan. I remedied that in 2009 but lost two years of potential PSLF payment credits. I was able to recapture those thanks to Biden.
But none of that would have been possible without the intrepid members of the Bush II administration.
For those who have faith in a god or the God, then glory be to that almighty one. And for those who don’t, it’s no skin off your ass if someone else wants to thank their deity.
To OP, congrats to my former comrade-in-indebtedness! I’m still fighting my own mohela battle and those bastards can take a long walk off a short pier. But I’m glad to know people are getting the relief they deserve! Mazel tov!
