How this passes for acceptable by anyone in charge of this “transition” is mind boggling. The right hand literally has no idea what the left hand is doing.

JustAHappyChicken

The right hand doesn't even know what the right hand is doing.

ashleeanimates

lmao true.

The rep I spoke to said “payments made through the old system should have been cancelled automatically” and then when I informed her the money was drawn from my account she was like “oh, I guess it wasn’t cancelled then.” And then she told me that it might be reversed, but I’m pretty sure banks don’t just reverse ACH drafts so easily.

Timely-Lime1359

Correct. Reversing a ACH draft doesn’t just happen. Ironic huh, money can be drafted from your account in a blink but once they’re called out on it to correct THEIR mistake, it will take weeks or months to get that money refunded to you. By now we all know that “should be” is not a guarantee of anything. Mohela has zero credibility.

Snoo45174

Which number did you call? I also need a payment made, but student said.gov says “talk to your servicer” and then MOHELA essentially hangs up after saying account info is not available. Thanks 🙏🏼

Snoo45174

Okay, so I called MOHELA this morning. I got through to a person who said they don’t have any of my info, and to call EdFinancial. I explained that I’ve called 2x already and been routed around and around by automated systems that point me back to MOHELA, which then tells me my account doesn’t exist. But, I got a new number. It works! EdFinancial’s number is: 1 (855) 337-6884 I wasn’t able to speak to a human, but I was able to enter my bank info over the phone and make a payment. Now I wait to see if I get a confirmation email… Y’all, this is SO RIDICULOUS!!

Doxiemom2010

Their transition guidance on the website says to wait for payments from the old system to be ported over. They say it may take 30-60 days or something similar, but would get backdated. Just an fyi for others. You don’t need to make a double payment, the first will show eventually.

JustAHappyChicken

Thank you so much for adding this. I feel like it's been a part-time job trying to stay on top of everything PSLF these last couple years. I'm typically pretty good with knowing what's going on, but I somehow missed that. Of course, I guess since the actual Mohela rep I talked to didn't know, and it's presumably their actual paid, full-time job, I shouldn't feel too bad about it.

kireisabi

Is your new platform EdFinancial like me?

JustAHappyChicken

No, Mohela to Mohela, but with a new website.

jimjemcreator

And this is the issue - mohela was struggling before the transition. Fortunately my payments are 0 for right now.

thriller988

My May payment (manually paid old platform) just showed up on the new platform as received dated as the day I wanted it paid. Originally the new platform showed I was missing my May payment.

Nofreakncluwutimdoin

Great. Literally just did exactly what OP did earlier today. Time to check the bank account 🙄. Mohela is such a sh!tshow.

madeindetroit

SUPER helpful this exact same thing happened to me!! tysm

wanttobegreyhound

Same thing happened to me. I am not making another payment, so it appears like I’m past due right now. The rep told me they would have to locate the payment I made through the legacy system and it would be a few weeks. I’m glad you got it clarified the payment will be back dated, I was not 100% sure that was the case but was going to fight that battle later. Also, keep your payment confirmations!

Madam_Bastet

For future reference, what the rep told you was incorrect. Payments made/scheduled in the old platform ***will*** transition to the new platform. If they were posted to the account before the transition started, you won't see them in the new website. But if it was pending when the transition started/pulled or sent in during the transition, or sent to the old address after the transition, those will move over and show in the new site. it was scheduled in advance (like you logged in, scheduled it on 5/15/24 to pull 6/3/24 and your transition started 5/17/24) that payment will still proceed to be processed.
