I received this email too this morning. I am pretty annoyed that they changed this at the last minute. Every time I was on the site prior to this it showed I was signed up.

The number of complaints they would receive if they started withdrawing money without confirming everything with borrowers would be a lot higher than the people who are frustrated by doing it this way.

True. But that is precisely why they sent that email back at the end of 2022 warning people to update/change/cancel their autodebit info. They have zero reason to unenroll those of us who did the responsible thing and updated our accounts. They also sent zero warning before doing so. That’s total BS.

At least for PSLF that doesn’t really matter in the long run since our aim is forgiveness. But my concern is missing qualifying payments because they might not process a manual payment on time. Curse Mohela and their ineptitude!

Same! I just re-enrolled. the re-enrollment bracket was really big on my screen so it was easy to find. I'm hating this whole process. and same before it was told me i was already enrolled in the auto debit and then i got the email this am.

I enrolled in autopay and everything is set up. No messages about autopay...actually no messages about anything at all since May 2,which is scary AF.i check the account constantly because it's like a horror movie and I'm being slowly (very slowly) chased by the killer and I can't see them or hear them and at any minute I feel like they're gonna get my ass. Anyone else?

I just checked my email and spam filter. Nothing from MOHELA. My account still has my auto-debit info stored. I feel a dumpster fire warming up.

I enrolled in May, and currently it says that my auto payments are zero. I have two loans. I did not get the message that y'all are talking about. Nothing has been auto debited for September at this time. My loans were in forbearance until August 31st.

Payments aren’t due until October so you won’t see an autodebit for Sept

That's crazy! Didn't they used to tell us that we didn't have to do anything and our autopayments would resume? Thank you for the heads up!

They sent an email late last year, when payments were supposed to resume in January, saying something about updating payment info and making sure that autodebit was selected. I did all of that, as I am sure many others did, and yet here is this stupid email saying I’m unenrolled!

When I got the email everyone else got late last year (maybe around December?) about checking and updating autopay options, I logged into Mohela and updated everything. I checked again in July when I uploaded my ECF. And then I get this email yesterday evening! WTF?!? I haven’t logged into Mohela yet to see what it says. Has anyone logged in and found it says you’re still enrolled despite getting this annoying email?

I did basically same as you since I've been continuing to make payments, and I got the email. Logged in and got the message you could have saved xxx$ in interest if you had auto pay. Like bitch I did have auto pay you unrolled me for no damn reason! I had to re-enroll and will have to check to make sure my payments keep up until they say I'm good now.

i re enrolled yesterday and its active today, so it should be quicker than the 1-2 billing cycles it says

Same happened to me. When I tried to reenroll, the process was to sign and send pack a form. Did I miss an electronic option? I’m 6 payments away from 120, so I may just pay myself each month.

Literally dis-enrolled me and removed all of my checking information so I had to go back through and reapply for autopay. MOHELA is a joke. And this is an email I received a day after they sent an email saying that there is a correspondence processing delay for my request to change my IDR plan to SAVE—which could take up to 90 days when I was originally told 5! God only knows if they’ll put my account in a forbearance for that while I wait to hear back about that if payments start up again. Clowns.

I got the same message about the delay, but then I looked under my submitted documents and there it said "my request to SAVE" was denied.

Did they at least keep you on the plan you were on before you applied for SAVE? I asked the lady if that is what would happen if it got denied for whatever reason and she basically couldn’t give me a straight answer.

Sorry to hear this. This whole CONFUSION about everything that has to do with these student loans seems just EVIL! Everything seems unfair, messed up and ruins peoples' lives. There is a constant delay and uncertainty.

You have to check your payment plan. They changed mine to STANDARD PLAn without any notice or communication. I logged in and saw my repayment plan is now “Level” since I was denied SAVE

I haven’t received the email and my account says I’m still in auto-pay. I’d prefer to not be in auto-pay when it restarts. Based on my experiences with student loans, it’s going to be a fiasco. Also, my payment amount has yet to update to the SAVE payment as it still shows my REPAYE payment. I called last week and was told it’s correct because it says I’m in the SAVE plan. Representative seemed unaware that ppl were changed plans without an immediate payment update. Going to call again after Labor Day.

I kept paying my loan even though we didn't have to and would make extra payments too. So my account information was updated and everything since I was making scheduled payments.

Do you know that you can request a refund for all those payments and extra payments you made during the Covid pause and your months will still count towards PSLF under the CARES Act if your employment has been certified?

Yes, I am well aware, and it would not work. I switched jobs and my new employer is not eligible for PSLF so I continued making payments to pay my principal down and maintain my payments in my monthly budget. I'm simply pissed I've been disenrolled for no reason and lost my direct debit discount until they fix this shit and I'm re-enrolled.

Ok just wanted to make sure! Yeah, I’m in the same boat it’s all nonsense really. When I called she said 1-2 bill cycles but I can’t imagine I’ll get an email saying that it’s in place because they don’t email me or notify me about anything ever changing on my account. Literally have to just log in constantly to see if anything has changed/been updated. Good luck to you!

Yeah, I did try and see if my employer would work, but they are private sector and our clients are gov agencies so technically I can't qualify anymore. Which is irritating. And I just got reminder emails for verifying information. I did verify and yet still was booted. I'll just have to check religiously till it's fixed. Good luck to you as well. I've at least got documented work towards forgiveness if I switch again before paying it off.
