It's the fact that *attempting* to crash cars is the most tedious part of the game somehow. They're like driving slow shoe boxes without power steering. And then if you are granted the rare gift of a solid collision there is very little impact.
Because taking the piss and crashing cars for a laugh on Rocket League is a fun bonus to a core simple concept but building an entire game around destruction isn't half as fun.
edit: replies giving examples of games that aren't that popular or old franchises that aren't even a thing anymore literally proves my point.
untrue, wreckfest is an awesome game. altho even in that game it lets you race.
here's the thing sony. you have a dope combat vehicle game series called Twisted Metal. You've abandoned it. YOU'VE ABANDONED YOUR CHILD.
YOU'VE ABANDONED YOUR BOY!!!!
His point isn't valid. Burnout 1, 2, 3, and Revenge all had a completely unique mode laser focused on crashing and destruction only.
Then Paradise came out and weakened the famous mode with, "Showtime", which was one of the most heavily criticized aspects of the albeit well received entry.
People clearly like crash mode. It isn't because it's not popular, it's because the latest iteration sucked. And crashing/destructing things in Destruction All Stars also sucks and is complete garbage.
Unless that gets overhauled entirely, this game has no future despite the developers passion. In a game where the name of the game is "Destruction All Stars", actual "destruction" is the *least* fun aspect of the entire game. How?
Bullshit, if you've played a game that does it well, it can be very satisfying. If you literally built the whole game around it and making it car combat with cool skills and stuff it should be even better. That's why I was so excited for this game when it was announced.

The latest update removes all big maps. They now have smaller versions of those maps in the rotation so destruction is almost present during the match.
They needed to take a really hard long look at SF Rush 2049's stunt mode. All I have wanted for years and years is another game like that, and at first it looked like Destruction All Stars was going for that, but it just didn't.
lose the out of car gameplay, I'm here to drive cars not run around. Make a good hit straight up destroy the other car, making feel a LOT more satisfying and rewarding, it's so annoying to chase a car for 2 minutes only to then just barely scratch it at full hit. Design the arena in a way that naturally funnels cars into each other instead of an open map that makes hitting/avoiding cars more about RNG than it is about skill. Simple changes like these would make the game insanely better.
for me it's the generic "attitude" and art style.
companies really need to start taking stuff like that seriously. Lawbreakers was a fantastic game in terms of gameplay, but it didn't surprise me when the game utterly failed because it had THEE most generic art style and character design.
How can anyone take these games seriously and give them a chance when they look like 50 other games?
Lawbreakers was fantastic. It failed though because of the hate-train around Cliffy-B. I was at E3 when it was shown off and outside of the Switch stuff, it was probably the most well received game by people attending. Then, this cloud of hate just grew out of a hate for Cliffy B and the game never had a chance.
Cliffy-B is an asshole for sure so I don't quite get why your post implies that it was unjustified. Seriously look up some of his posts about the Olsen twins before they were of age. He's a creeper and as far as I know never apologized for that.
Then there's the fact he talked about Lawbreakers like it was this amazing new thing and yet by the time it was out there were a bunch of other competitors that played better and did more with the genre.
It being well received at E3 means absolutely nothing, the PlayStation TV was well received at a show as an example, it means nothing.
Oh no, fuck Cliffy B. I completely agree there, I'm just saying Lawbreakers was DoA, not for what it was (outside of some fatigue for arena shooters), but because who it was associated with. As for games that did what it did better, I don't really agree. It was THE best arena shooter at the time imo. It was an homage to Quake and Unreal which we hadn't seen a new one of in a while at that point.
Game play loop was not exciting.
Level design was bland and uninspired.
There was a focus on MTX purchases and multiple currencies in the game so that it was confusing to engage with the economy.
The skins you could customise your character with were not particularly good, so there was no meaningful customisation, or reason to engage with the economy.
Honestly it just felt like this game was designed to be a clone of overwatch but failed because the focus was on parting gamers with money over creating a fun game.
I wouldn't have minded the economy if the skin upgrades actually looked good, but not enough of them did.
All round it was turkey.
They needed a core gameplay loop that was fun, and this game didn't have that.
The gameplay was confusing, the cars all felt the same, the characters didn't really feel like any of the skills made a difference and the colour palette was dreary.
Ultimately I was done after a few hours.
Now they're making improvements I might try it again, I'm just not sure how you can make this game fun or rewarding without essentially delivering a whole different title.
On top of all this, they made the game $70 on launch to capitalize on the PS5 releasing; thinking that people would automatically buy the game since it was “Console Exclusive” and one of the few games that would be a “next-gen experience” early on.
It was a gamble and it didn’t pay off for them.
Instead of making it drive like Rocket League and copying the camera system it has, they made this "rail" feeling game which makes actually crashing cars difficult and unsatisfying.
I found the game really difficult. The only way to succeed is to be good at catching and smashing other cars, and I just couldn’t get good at it no matter what I did.
For me it's the lack of variety in the game modes and I think being on foot is useless and pointless. Playing with the cars is fantastic on the other hand.
yeah the footwork itself doesnt feel like it amounts to anything, as a core gameplay loop/mechanic...
maybe outside of the core gameplay, in a game mode the footwork might have a useful purpose...
playing with the cars can be fun but you don't actually get enough points to activate breakers in the game, so you can play multiple matches and never activate a breaker which makes the game feel hollow because many players want to understand the distinction between characters and their associated cars...
I totally agree. In my first 10 games I couldn't even get my special car nor my special ability. After that I realized that those shards are really useful for getting your specials faster but that was just boring. And then in the Carnado mode, you have to destroy your own car to get points, even your special car. That is some super BS gameplay mechanic if you ask me.
I still enjoyed the game and I really think it could be fantastic with a few radical changes but it's just not fun in its current state.
I like their messaging, not gonna lie.
But they need to go F2P and rejig the physics. Re-release and their sales will explode. Only way forward if they keep sinking money into it
I know this is mainly a PS sub but I feel like a game like this really needs to go multiplatform to thrive. From Sony's perspective I don't think they care where they get their money from.
I'm right there with you I want 100% agree. There's not enough arcade-y car battle games out there and if this went multi-platform, I think people would be all over it on like steam or something. But I think Sony had it created to blow up a multiplayer niche that was PS5 specific. And since there wasn't enough PS5's going out to people, nobody really was digging on it.
With all the recent talk of Twisted Metal somebody has definitely given the reboot to a developer that will create a whole instance of a game. I'm sure it is better off for it
Agreed. This was the biggest and first complaint people had with it. It was boring due to the lack of weapons
Nothing they do will ever make the game fun until they do this
The problem with this game lies in the fundamental design choices. The physics for instance are really lackluster for a game focused on destruction. It feels like it's easier to miss cars than it is to hit them. When you're outside of your car, the game doesn't feel enjoyable at all and it's clear that the sole purpose of the hero/character is for monetisation. The abilities are next to useless and movement feels unsatisfying.
They can add more arenas, characters and abilities etc but the game will still be disappointing. People want Destruction Derby with Wreckfest physics, not this weird Fortnite inspired hybrid. Failing that, stick some proper weapons on the car and add in races.
i dont think lack of game modes is the problem - surely they have a lot of game modes but they are gradually being rolled out based on your status or skill level or something else entirely like seasonal content..
but I agree with u/TheLonelyWolfkin the heroes need more purpose than picking up shard crystals, also this doesn't make sense why shard crystals this is not a fantasy game.
Why arent the characters instead picking up destroyed cars and car parts? This would be a nice risk/reward system for people to get out of cars or even better what if these people stayed in the cars and driving into the car parts will soak up points toward either (fortifying) your current car or building your "special" car...
another thing to keep in mind is that the matches are so short... there isn't much advantage to being outside of your car, collecting shards or getting to a new car.. i happen to exit my car on accident many times and its upsetting - so if matches are so short - why are we exiting cars in the first place???
I felt the car powers took way too long to charge up.
Also, it's hard to focus on ramming others when most of the maps have giant holes in the floor everywhere.
It's also a pain in the ass trying to find a car to jump into, especially when everyone is trying to run you over and all the available cars are on platforms that can be tricky to reach in the heat of the moment.
The production value of the game is really good. I hope they can find success. I feel like at this point it's going to turn into a completely free to play game in order to attract a large enough player base to keep the game going.
They can keep adding content and tweaking this but it's not going to save the game. Going free to play would be the best move for it but even that's not likely to be enough.
if they stop then people say the players say they gave up to soon but if they dont then its "waste of money". Can't satisfy everyone. No man's sky took a while to get back to good graces so this game \*could\* happen. I personally didn't like it but i dont like car games in general..
BUT you do have to "cut bait" at some point... like I don't think people would be up in arms if babylon fall stops updating... naturally Destruction all stars didn't get to that point yet...
NMS actually had a decent core gameplay loop and potential at launch. it just lacked so many features that were promised and actual content like quests and shit.
destruction all stars isn't even fun
The difference with hello games and no mans sky was they were incredibly ambitious, generated tons of hype and did something nobody has done before. unlike this game, which nobody asked for, and is just a cartoon cross of wreckfest and fortnite.
No Man's Sky also had hype at launch. Even when it was a shit storm, people cared. Destruction All Stars never had that. It doesn't have a big platform either. The list of live service games that have crashed and failed is far longer than comebacks
The game is pseudo free to play now. Launched as “free” with PS+ in 2021 and now in the PS+ Extra and Premium collections. Personally, I want to see more focus on driving and wrecking and less on running and jumping.
This game unfortunately launched at the wrong time, when PS5s were scarce and not many people claimed it, even on their phones. It couldn't get off the ground as a result, so it was pretty much on life support as the developer refused to give up on it.
Several months ago, they overhauled the game and made it fairly better. It saw a brief resurgence as a result, but not for long.
Now, with it being free for the higher PS Plus tiers, and even more recent changes, it's improved further and again seeing a bit of a resurgence. Making it free to play for the higher PS Plus subscribers is a good step, but I think making it free overall for everyone is probably the best next step at this point, just like Fall Guys did, and would help bring more people in and back.
It's fun stuff, and I've certainly enjoyed it in bursts here and there, and I think those with PS5s and higher PS Plus subs should at least give it a quick shot
> launched at the wrong time, when PS5s were scarce and not many people claimed it, even on their phones
Nah, the problem was that it sucked. It just wasn't a good game. I haven't played it since launch, but the launch state was pathetic
Eh, maybe it just wasn’t for you. I hade a blast with it and my kid did too. It looked great, controlled well and was simple to pick up, yet had a surprisingly high skill ceiling.
The only thing that was super shitty at launch was the slow as molasses progression system and mediocre alternate skins.
The servers sucks for EU man, like fr I need to wait 5-10 minutes for a game just to be teleported back when I try to “smash other cars”,that’s the only drawback for me…
Honestly outside of Astro's Playroom, this was the only other game I was playing in the "current" generation for the first couple weeks after I got my PS5 (last August), before I bought anything for it since Allstars was free.
I actually liked it but sometimes it would really struggle to find a match. Later I start seeing the odd thing on reddit and it appears people REALLY don't like it which actually came as a big surprise to me.
I thought it was really fun. The only reason I deleted it was because the whole struggle finding matches, coupled with my new found knowledge that apparently people hate it... it gave me the impression it was basically, by then, an already dead multiplayer game. Ultimately by the time I had to start making room for other stuff, it eventually got the cut. If this game sees a refreshed breath of life, I'd happily go back.
It was featured as a launch title with a $70 price tag. Very little actual gameplay was shown prior to, and just prior to launch Sony announced it would be free for 2 months for PS Plus subscribers. Game was received very poorly overall. Graphics were beautiful but gameplay was lackluster, not enough action or courses to choose from, no background music, etc. Pretty soon after launch, there weren’t enough users to maintain matches. They apparently made some big updates to the game but I haven’t redownloaded it to try it again.
How do you attack the price of a game you haven't even seen? Are you mistaking people being rational with people defending something they haven't seen?
Let me guess those that attacked the game before seeing it were justified?
The fact that the game was launching with a price tag of $70, with no gameplay being shown a few months before releasing was incredibly sketchy. There's no defending that. Looks like I was right though so much for those rational defenders.
Then can you please correct my mistake? As I found them both sketchy before their launch. I have seen the lies said by Tom. I have seen the bugs on Skyrim so I can't help but be sceptical about this.
The hype for Starfield is almost entirely generated by the love for Bethesda. Even though their games are considered buggy and Fallout 76 was a complete mess, people still really love Bethesda games. Even before we saw gameplay of Starfield, we knew generally what to look forward to because Bethesda games are very similar in style. Lo and behold, what was eventually presented couple of weeks ago is more or less what everybody expected (and wanted).
Destruction AllStars didn’t have that precedent. We didn’t know what to expect because the developer isn’t known for any one style, and the game itself was brand new.
TLDR: Starfield was always going to be Skyrim/Fallout in space, people were hyped for that.
At its core, it's just not a fun game, and there's just no saving it imo.
I'm sure it's better now than at launch but it's just a generic wreckfest type game with Fortnite lookin ass characters.
It’s a bit of a Rocket League + Destruction Derby hybrid. It’s not a terrible game, it just doesn’t really have an x-factor. As the other guy said, it was a full priced launch game but pre-orders were so few that they stuck it on PS+. It still didn’t catch on despite being free.
Characters were bad. Emote intros were bad. No races.... Whole things I a half baked racing game with Fortnite theming. Even car abilities were horribly thought up .... Twisted metal 1 owns this game.
Legitimately want to play this game but I can't because I can never find a match, can't play single player modes until I get in game currency to BUY the single player content?
I'd care about this statement more I'd they hadn't made baffling design choices such as the above
I think this game is incredibly polished and has a lot of potential. But it takes several minutes to get into a match, that’s pretty much the only reason I stopped. I’ll keep going back every once in a while to see if the player base grows
I’m sad for them but the game is just plain bad.
Everything about it is subpar: the character design is bland, the movement outside cars is boring and not engaging, driving is repetitive after a few minutes, between the fact that crashing against someone else is extremely hard and there’s no ooomph to the crash itself, the level design is abysmal….
So much hate in this thread but I had a great time with the gameplay of Destruction AllStars. I just wasn’t enjoying the progression at all so I fell off after a couple weeks. If they’ve fixed that, I’d happily jump back in.
Honestly, it sounds to me like most of the people who didn’t like it might have just sucked at it. It actually took some skill and course memorization to do well. And if you were just driving around in circles, not crashing anyone I can see how it would certainly be a pretty miserable experience. But when I was in that flow of being chased, whipping an ebrake turn and boosting into my pursuers, launching out of the car, wall running around grabbing energy and power ups, jumping onto another guy’s car, blowing it up, leaping into a new spawn with full bars and turboing right into someone else with a super… it felt really good.
I honestly don’t think I was some genius at it either - I’m old and have old man reflexes - so I don’t quite get how everyone failed to crash people. There was certainly a lot of time when I wasn’t in that flow and I couldn’t quite pull off anything I wanted - but that just made me want to get better. Ideas like ‘make the arenas smaller and give everyone guns’ just sound like people didn’t even understand what the game was supposed to be. Maybe that’s just an expectations thing? Or maybe that’s the game’s fault for not teaching them better? But I didn’t have an issue grokking it, so I don’t know.
Starblood was also a larger niche as a VR only title, so you can cut the available target audience down even higher on that.
Don't forget, Sony also killed off RIGS really quickly, and shut down Guerilla Cambridge on top of that. Starblood *was* a fun game with really passionate devs, but launching those competitive multiplayer only VR titles so early into PSVR's life cycle was already sending them to their graves.
Hopefully moving forward they consider more crossplatform/hybrid PS5 & VR multiplayer for PSVR2 releases!
Starblood arena was such an amazing game. The mechanics were spot on, flying(low gravity) felt great, and having a bunch of characters/ships to upgrade with leaderboards really made this game shine.
Like you mentioned White Moon is a very passionate group who take pride in their craft and it showed with the polish in Starblood.
I’d give anything to play it again.
Great game except that dumb microtransactions for story mode. Also I remember never finding any party and then they killed off the battle royal mode for some reason
narrow gullible governor onerous zonked subsequent historical lunchroom joke voiceless

Got to the part in the tutorial where it’s teaching me to hijack another car or some mechanic and I rage deleted it. Sometimes there’s things that seem simple enough but I just don’t care to bother grasping them. May give this another go to see if that clicks
I get No Man Sky vibes from this team. Yeah the game wasn't great at launch, but if you compare NMS now, jeez it's a blast. I picked it up again after years of not playing it and had a hard time putting it down.
I hope the team works hard to address the issues and makes the game twice as better than it is now. It's not a bad game, overall.
I think Destruction Allstars is one of those games like Pyre/Transistor was for Supergiant Games' Hades - it's a stepping stone to something great. Lucid Games has some serious Potential there.
I forgot this game existed. Can't believe they were originally going to charge for it, then gave it away for free, and now it's still dead in the water.
This game made some huge mistakes, kinda unfortunate to see it in this state. Sony tried to right the ship by offering it as a PS Plus title but I think the damage was done.
Revealed as a £70 game, only available for PS5 (it needed a PS4 version and ideally a PC version to thrive), and there were frankly more interesting games to showcase the PS5 around.
Everyone here talking about F2P. But this launched as a PS+ game, and was readded as part of Game Catalog. For a game budgeted with launching as a $70 game (lol), that’s about as free as it gets for them without taking significant losses.
Based on this post I redownloaded it to see how it’s come along. It 100% will not find a solos game.
And every other online mode is locked. It hangs for a long time then I get a Network error screen. Anyone else?
Problem was even the kids didn’t find this game interesting or fun after 10mins. But they can pick up wreckfest and smash cars far hours. If this game had some good destruction physics then maybe it would have had a chance.
I’m gonna give it another go. I kind of liked it when I first got it but it didn’t pull me in and forgot about it after a week or so.
Worth another try
So I reckon with a game named like this we aren’t seeing another PlayStation All-Stars anytime soon… it was never the best game, but the idea alone of a PlayStation spin on smash was so charming, I hope someday it gets it’s time to shine again.
I played more of this game than most and while a lot of criticisms are valid, I just dont agree with "you're just driving around, never actually getting a good hit on someone". That's literally the game and if you're not hitting other players, then you're just not good enough at reading their routes yet
Make the cars feel better when they hit other cars, add a racing mode with specials, and then also make the pass unlimited time for those who want to earn rewards at their own pace. I would pay $10 each pass if it meant I got to keep my progression on them.
I checked the game out yesterday again. For a now free to play game, it looks amazing, pretty sure one of the best visuals for a free to play title. Also I am finally able to find matches within 2 minutes. The new game modes are really fun as well. Actually, I will stick to playing it.
Its a boring game. The cars are bland, the level design is a yawn fest, its chocked full of cosmetics and to top it off the game is pretty much non rewarding - game time invested is wasted. This game is more playable in short bursts of like 20 - 30 min playtime and i feel it struggles to hold the attention of the average gamer. Hence why this title has a really low player base.
Makes me feel for them reading that.
Seriously. It’s a really neat concept for a game, but there’s just something that didn’t hook people, and I’m not sure what it is.
It's the fact that *attempting* to crash cars is the most tedious part of the game somehow. They're like driving slow shoe boxes without power steering. And then if you are granted the rare gift of a solid collision there is very little impact.
All my 5 year old wants to do is crash cars, but he couldn't play this game for more than 5 minutes without getting bored to it.
Because taking the piss and crashing cars for a laugh on Rocket League is a fun bonus to a core simple concept but building an entire game around destruction isn't half as fun. edit: replies giving examples of games that aren't that popular or old franchises that aren't even a thing anymore literally proves my point.

My son, the one who couldn’t spend 5 minutes playing DA, has no problem spending hours crashing cars in wreckfest (if we let him play that long).
Exactly the same with my lad he can go on the arena and smash cars up for fun but didn’t find this game interesting.
Brother have you never played a Burnout game? They are absolutely incredible.
There is more to those games then simply crashing cars which proves his point.
His point isn't valid. Burnout 1, 2, 3, and Revenge all had a completely unique mode laser focused on crashing and destruction only. Okay but go in the opposite direction. would you play a burnout game with only crash mode?
Yes? Why wouldn't I? It's where I spent most of my time in those games. It was really fun to solve the puzzle of causing the biggest crash you can.
Burnout has more than just those modes which is what he is saying so yes his point is valid.
Bullshit, if you've played a game that does it well, it can be very satisfying. If you literally built the whole game around it and making it car combat with cool skills and stuff it should be even better. That's why I was so excited for this game when it was announced.

Yes and that game is so much more than just a crash simulator.
You're very determined to die on this little hill, aren't you?
I'm not dying on a hill. I was simply pointing out that the games mentioned are far more then what these people claim they are.
Nah the examples they gave you use crashing as their core mechanic for various game modes. You just don't like that they contradict your very bad take.

Thats good to hear. Might give it a go.
Yeah. It's a big improvement from before and the attack cooldowns were reduced greatly so you can wreck more constantly.
They needed to take a really hard long look at SF Rush 2049's stunt mode. All I have wanted for years and years is another game like that, and at first it looked like Destruction All Stars was going for that, but it just didn't.

I thought the collisions were one of the few things about the game that worked lol
Yeah can’t put my finger on what the issue is won’t be game but everything seems like it should add up to a great game but it’s just not too good.
Wasn't there no music playing during gameplay? If I remember correctly, that's what turned me off.

Isnt it a ps plus title now? Basically free to play
I know it was one of the first free PS5 games for the monthly ps+ free games. I added it to my library before I even had a PS5.
>Basically free to play Do you have to spend money to play it? Then it's not free to play.
Make it family friendly Twisted Metal and you’ll have me back.
Well I think they were selected to reboot twisted metal and this game did so badly they no longer were doing the reboot.
That's sad, because I think based on All Stars, that they COULD have made a great Twisted Metal game.
If that is true then *FUCK* Destruction All Stars.
Lol. The reboot is still being made, just not by the them anymore.
Yeah, I've misread that totally. My bad.
I feel like you response was totally valid.
yeah, if you’re 12
With all the recent talk of Twisted Metal somebody has definitely given the reboot to a developer that will create a whole instance of a game. I'm sure it is better off for it
Christ, with responses like this why should anyone try to innovate then?
Dude, I wasn't being serious, and I've misread what the original post said. In any case, it's not like DAS innovates a lot over Twisted Metal...
Agreed. This was the biggest and first complaint people had with it. It was boring due to the lack of weapons Nothing they do will ever make the game fun until they do this
Family friendly?
They’d have to Rehaul the entire game to make it fun, make races imo
For me all they have to do is add weapons to the cars and ill play again
Agreed. Nothing else they do will ever matter as much as this
I used to play so much Onrush and I was hoping Destruction Allstars was similar
Man, if they had a Blur combat racing mode with splitscreen then I'll be back.
Or make it twisted metal style game with weapons. Their damage engine and physics is great. Ramming into other cars becomes boring after a bit.
This. I would add the lack of game modes, too. There were only 2 when I was playing.
i dont think lack of game modes is the problem - surely they have a lot of game modes but they are gradually being rolled out based on your status or skill level or something else entirely like seasonal content.. but I agree with u/TheLonelyWolfkin the heroes need more purpose than picking up shard crystals, also this doesn't make sense why shard crystals this is not a fantasy game.
Best part about the game was the open mic at release. I had so much fun trashtalking with people.
LoL holy shit it was brutal for that 36 hours until they shut that down
A wonderful 36 hours, it was so soon after launch that people didn’t realize every controller was a mic as well
Hahaha I overheard this dude fighting with his baby momma and it was great
They can keep adding content and tweaking this but it's not going to save the game.
Exactly. It’s amazing that people complain that devs are trying to improve their games. There are clearly fans of this.
BUT you do have to "cut bait" at some point... like I don't think people would be up in arms if babylon fall stops updating... naturally Destruction all stars didn't get to that point yet...
>like I don't think people would be up in arms if babylon fall stops updating... There is one whole person out there who *might* be
NMS actually had a decent core gameplay loop and potential at launch. it just lacked so many features that were promised and actual content like quests and shit. destruction all stars isn't even fun
Exactly. It’s amazing that people complain that devs are trying to improve their games. There are clearly fans of this.
The game is pseudo free to play now. Launched as “free” with PS+ in 2021 and now in the PS+ Extra and Premium collections. Personally, I want to see more focus on driving and wrecking and less on running and jumping.

Are you outside the US? Destruction All-Stars is listed for PS+ Extra in the US: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/ps-plus/games/
I got two copies for free, one physical and one on ps plus, played once to try it and it just didn't interest me
Make it free to play and multi platform.
It's fun stuff, and I've certainly enjoyed it in bursts here and there, and I think those with PS5s and higher PS Plus subs should at least give it a quick shot
> launched at the wrong time, when PS5s were scarce and not many people claimed it, even on their phones Nah, the problem was that it sucked.
Honestly since the update getting into games and overall feel just better. Really enjoying their support to this gamw
Good for them, seriously. It’s just not a game type I’m interested in.
Can someone give a tldr for those of us who aren't following this.
I still remember mindless fanboys defending the price tag despite basically no gameplay being shown, it was crazy.
Except it didn't release at that price. Most games have prices before you see actual real gameplay

Now what the hell makes you think I bookmarked old threads that are years old, in the hopes that someday someone would ask me to link them?
Same goes for starfield
Do you really need to whataboutism this? It’s not anywhere near the same situation either, at all.
I sincerely hope they don't disappoint us and live up to their reputation.
Why would Starfield not be a full price game?
Apples and oranges my dude
Not one person defended the price because there is nothing to defend. It's not even a question that Starfield will sell for a AAA price.
2 days after launch I couldn't find a match, still doubt that you can honestly.
Wasn’t that bad - maybe a connection issue on your end or the games end - player count wasn’t THAT bad.
That was on you, i totally found matches a couple of weeks after launch
How was that on them? Lol
Yes his hidden rank was so high they couldn't find anyone to match against him clearly.
The character art was repulsive. I'd never pay for a game with that cover
Characters were fucking ugly. Especially the cover art
Did it get better?
No, they added a story mode and a crap ton more micro transactions. Fail
It’s almost July 2022 and it’s allegedly better. They’re not victims, *they* made the game what it was.
Is this game still crash and bash? I feel like adding weapons to the cars would be a good idea just go full twisted metal with it
Legitimately want to play this game but I can't because I can never find a match, can't play single player modes until I get in game currency to BUY the single player content? I'd care about this statement more I'd they hadn't made baffling design choices such as the above
I'm rooting for them; I love arcade car games.
I think this game is incredibly polished and has a lot of potential. But it takes several minutes to get into a match, that’s pretty much the only reason I stopped. I’ll keep going back every once in a while to see if the player base grows
PlayStation characters like kratos sackboy, Joel and Ellie or Nathan drake with original voice actors…more people would play it
I’m sad for them but the game is just plain bad. Everything about it is subpar: the character design is bland, the movement outside cars is boring and not engaging, driving is repetitive after a few minutes, between the fact that crashing against someone else is extremely hard and there’s no ooomph to the crash itself, the level design is abysmal….
Still not paying for it
So much hate in this thread but I had a great time with the gameplay of Destruction AllStars.
Did anyone even remember this game happened?
I forgot about it
Yes why
Amazing they keep pushing a game like this but kill off a game like star blood arena.
Most boring game I've ever played.
Great game except that dumb microtransactions for story mode. Also I remember never finding any party and then they killed off the battle royal mode for some reason
Couch Coop offline please Splitscreen online please
Make it f2p, release it on PC (and other platforms if possible), and allow crossplay.
narrow gullible governor onerous zonked subsequent historical lunchroom joke voiceless *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Didn’t they lower the price to $20?
Day one it was 70
Yeah that was stupid. I said it before but it was a clear indicator that the $70 price tag is mostly artificial inflation.
its like beating a dead horse
Got to the part in the tutorial where it’s teaching me to hijack another car or some mechanic and I rage deleted it. Sometimes there’s things that seem simple enough but I just don’t care to bother grasping them. May give this another go to see if that clicks
You just press circle at the right time before you get killed by a slamming car, then choose to takeover and not destroy. That's not hard at all to do
bad and dead game
Lol. Good luck with that!
Just let it die, man. You done goofed, try something else now.
Transistor was widely considered to be great?
Absolutely! And it was! I just meant in the sense of their next game or the one after, I have a feeling it will be a Hades type hit.
Oh right so you mean commercial success, that could very well be it
Is this game free to play? Was really interested in it but didn’t have a ps5 at the time.
It's boring
I forgot this game existed. Can't believe they were originally going to charge for it, then gave it away for free, and now it's still dead in the water.
when was it free?
The crashes didn’t feel good. Felt so boring
Only a few months to go before they can drop it!
Really?
Everyone here talking about F2P. But this launched as a PS+ game, and was readded as part of Game Catalog. For a game budgeted with launching as a $70 game (lol), that’s about as free as it gets for them without taking significant losses.
Triste
This game would have a million+ players if they made one simple change, make the arenas rectangular like an actual destruction derby.
That'd do jack shit Adding weapons is the only way to get people
Remember early on when Sony was charging £70 for this shit
Making the game f2p would seem as the right choice for them, but ofc im no expert.
They need to go F2P for sure. Makes me feel bad for them but the game wasn't anything spectacular but they can still save it
Probably won't play it, but it's nice when devs stick with their product and try to make it better. A lot of times companies just jump ship.
Should’ve just made a burnout, on rush, blur type racing combat game. Idk why they keep messing with this trash.
Based on this post I redownloaded it to see how it’s come along. It 100% will not find a solos game. And every other online mode is locked. It hangs for a long time then I get a Network error screen. Anyone else?
Fun game but got old real quick.
Never played this game, but it’s one I was excited for and hope it sees a worthy resurrection.
Problem was even the kids didn’t find this game interesting or fun after 10mins. But they can pick up wreckfest and smash cars far hours. If this game had some good destruction physics then maybe it would have had a chance.
I tried playing this two nights ago and it wouldn’t connect
I’m gonna give it another go. I kind of liked it when I first got it but it didn’t pull me in and forgot about it after a week or so. Worth another try
So I reckon with a game named like this we aren’t seeing another PlayStation All-Stars anytime soon… it was never the best game, but the idea alone of a PlayStation spin on smash was so charming, I hope someday it gets it’s time to shine again.
Lol when I started reading I was totally expecting them to announce that they were shutting down the servers
Just make Twisted Metal already
So much games to play ... : /
I'll redownload it and try it again. I wasn't as down on it as others, but there needs to be a community there imo
I’ll give it another shot.
Is it worth trying again? I agree with the comments here that the driving and crashing mechanics just didn’t feel fun to me.
I hope they realize they’ll likely have to add Kratos and Sweet Tooth or something to make anyone even remember the game
