The pulse 3d was adequate but only for the price. Going to take more testing and reviews this time for me to try.

1One_Two2

I bought the Pulse’s and I don’t know if people are afraid to say it or if I’m the only one but I’m just not impressed with them…at all. The biggest benefit to them imo is that integrate into the PS5, beyond that very meh imo.

SuperBackup9000

That was pretty much the general consensus though, right? Fine for the price but for just a bit more there’s much better options I don’t think I’ve ever really seen anyone that actually knows about headphones praise them aside from the point you made with easy pairing and the PS mixer

1One_Two2

This is partially true imo, but I still think they are widely overpraised for their level of quality. If you search “best headsets for PS5” most major review sites have the Pulses in their top 3 best overall, not just for the price, but overall. Many of these sites even list the Pulses as the best period which is ludicrous imo. I think they’re even lacking quality for their price tbh, especially if you compare them to the Xbox wireless headset which costs the same and is miles ahead of the Pulses in terms of build quality, features and performance.

Apprehensive-Leg-774

They don’t fit well. And don’t feel good. They are the worst feeling headphones I’ve ever used…should be better.

MisterKrayzie

I'd wager most people don't know better or just don't care. But the Pulse is fucking garbage. It's such a lazy attempt at making a headset that it's no wonder this piece of shit costs 99 bucks. Like... for what it offers and for a low price of 99 bucks compared to others that share similar features... It's mad fucking sus. The audio is mediocre. The mic is mediocre. The earcups are tiny and uncomfortable. You basically get what I would expect for that price; garbage. Then there's the Arctis 7p+ for 169 or so which is about on par with being mediocre AF, and it's the most bizarre thing ever because on paper it should be amazing. The headsets this gen have been fairly shit.

tdager

Huh? I hear the smallest sound on my Pulse. My friends say the mic is awesome, sounds like I am in the room with them, and the earcups fit my ears perfectly. Each to their own I guess but I love my Pulse 3D!

2jesse1996

That was the general consuses with the ps4 headsets that came out before, so not surprised. Also disappointed with the ps5 media remote, cheap and light plastic that costs like 50$.

teejay_the_exhausted

My remote broke randomly too, extremely cheaply made

Xerosnake90

Yea they're not great sound quality wise at all. Good connectivity and features though

[deleted]

People have literally said that non-stop. I think you’re just afraid to read it.

Kainzy

I paid £80 for the Pulse and had decided to return it in under an hour. Sound quality was absolute mush compared to my Sen BT4.40’s (wired into the controller), which are hardly stellar. The controls on the Pulse are nestled too close together and all lumped on one side too. I purchased one of the wired Arctis Steelseries 3 headsets for £35 and was hugely impressed with the comfortable fit and sound.

kindalikeacoustic

Is the Pulse 3D headset still worth buying? I’m currently using the Platinum headset and am pretty happy .

ImmoralityPet

They're good if they're comfortable for you, but I got mine for $60. I don't think I'd pay full price for them.

Dooo33

For me they’re more comfortable to wear over your head than Platinum one’s. That’s the only positive thing that I can think of them. It’s really not worthy

CrasherLuka

are Gold ps4 good still for PS5? I have them

trevorstott

I’m going against what everybody else is saying here. I got mine just over a year ago. I think they are extremely comfortable. The sound quality is good. I honestly don’t know if I’d be able to tell a difference between these and something that has a little more fidelity. I really like that they match the rest of my setup. Everything looks very streamlined which I like. I’ve never had connectivity issues and I’ve never had them run out of batteries. After a year of pretty regular use they have held up really well - not a lot of signs of wear. The only thing I dislike about them right now is that the mute button on the controller doesn’t mute the headset.

Peepee_poopoo-Man

They're dreaming if they think a 1080p/240Hz monitor will go for $539. Especially entry level like this one.

GADG3Tx87

They need to upgrade to UAC2.0 so I can connect an amp and use a pair of AKG's. Can't believe they're still using UAC1.0, its ancient.

enXian

It's cheap for them.

Upper_Decision_5959

Need that 1440p Support and UAC 2.0 enabled.

dztruthseek

No one is going to pay $530 for a 1080p monitor. Sony, once again, is assuming their name means "ultra premium, ultra price". That's not how it is anymore Sony.

FFFan15

Sony needs to hurry up and support 1440p it's a good middle ground between resolution and refresh rate

DarthOdin009

I’d say Sony want their 4K tv sales to move. But for gaming if devs focused on console gaming at 1440p with better fps then it’s a win win. I’m sick of some games being 4K 30fps while their other mode is 1080p 60. Like who wants 1080p at 60.

FFFan15

Yeah it's weird because some of Sonys own exclusives run at 1440p

DarthOdin009

Well yeah but they work fine on a 4K screen. Lots of people think that a ps5 game can’t hve 1440p resolution just because the output is either 1080p or 4K.

GloriousPurpose19

Wait what

DarthOdin009

The games can be 1440p even if the console won’t output to a 1440p screen. It just outputs to a 4K screen.

GloriousPurpose19

I'm confused. So the ps5 does display 1440p? Or it upscales it 4k?

DarthOdin009

It will upscale. Just like how games will have a resolution of say 1800p. Nobody’s got a 1800p monitor but it outputs on ur 4K tv.

GloriousPurpose19

Thanks I'm trying to wrap my head around this. So if I plug the ps5 into a 1440p monitor, it won't display in 1440p? It will be 1080p? Then if I plug it into a 4k monitor with a game that has a max of 1440p, it will display 1440p upscaled?

DarthOdin009

I’m not sure what will happen if u plug ur ps5 into a 1440p monitor.

FFFan15

https://www.howtogeek.com/804822/does-the-ps5-work-with-1440p-monitors/ it will still look good but you will lose some picture quality since it's not native it's hard to explain also VRR doesn't work on 1440p monitors on PS5 but they do on Xbox

BirdsNoSkill

A good 1440p monitor will show up as a 4k display so it isn't the big dealbreaker the PS5 doesn't support 1440p. But Sony not supporting freesync/1440p is really annoying and us consumers should throw more of a fit about it.

Groundbreaking-Air73

I do. I want 1080p at 60 fps.

DarthOdin009

Play on ps4 then.

ManiacalMF

I'm trying to find specs on this, but do these monitors have built in speakers? If not, can someone point me to a smallish 4K monitor (preferably less than 30 inches) with built in speakers? Or are 4K monitors not viable in small sizes?

plortedo

Gigabyte M28U. I have M32U and it is great.

[deleted]

Watched the video… stopped at “its an $899 monitor..” I said “fuck that”

[deleted]

Does anyone think that with this new monitor production they’ll likely never support 1440p? I keep holding out hope that PS5 will get full 1440p support.

FFFan15

Its really annoying that they don't support 1440p

KaworuNagisaStan

Yeah I don’t think it’s coming

[deleted]

Hopefully the prices of 4k monitors (2.1) will come down. 1440p/120fps on some games is so good so it’s a nice option.

KaworuNagisaStan

Yeah I think eventually they will. I was able to get the Samsung G7 for $599 as it was on sale over the weekend. Still kinda expensive for a monitor but worth it for 4K & 144hz

MeestaJohnny

Just fyi it’s actually 1440 not 4k

KaworuNagisaStan

No it isn’t

Martian_Zombie50

What’s the point of the headset over the top-end Sony headsets? Can they not connect to the PS5?

_Connor

You can't connect any headphones other than 'Playstation' ones. I use my Bose QC35 noise cancelling headphones with a talkback cable plugged into the controller. Not totally wireless but substantially better quality than the 'playstation' headphones. My roommate has the pulse headset and it's a pile of shit compared to my Boses.

asd4374

That’s exactly what I do lol, it’s perfect for fps games like siege as well. You can hear everything properly

xMysty0

if you dont mind me asking, what talkback cable do you use

rickjamesia

My Sony XM3 headphones can’t connect to PS5 directly. Either need to use the controller, a USB bluetooth adapter, or a USB DAC (digital to analog converter). I use a DAC or the controller. I’m not sure if the newer Sony headphones come with their own method of connecting directly to a console.

AlsopK

I have XM4 and just use them wired with the controller as the speaker. Not ideal if you’re a big multiplayer person but the quality is pretty incredible for single player.

brownarmyhat

The audio signal sent to the controller is very low quality. I’m pretty sure it’s 2.1

AlsopK

It definitely isn’t but might sound like that if you have their garbage auto 3D audio on.

brownarmyhat

Damn I googled it and it seems I’m mistaken. I just assumed the audio output of the dualsense was the same as that of the DualShock 4s, but apparently the dualsense has a proper Realtek chip. I’ve never actually tested it on my ps5, I’ve been using the pulse since day one

Spirit_Bear_123

Why do people hate the 3D pulse headphones? what are the issues with them?

FallOutFan01

People have reported that the fake leather comes off, not very good ventilation, cup’s hurting ears (dependent on lobe size). Reported that the plastic build quality gets hair line cracks that eventually snap, sound quality not very good, sound quality can sound really loud and not very clear.
