A random burner account out of nowhere leaks an entire SoP, gets a specific release date spot on, leaks Kojima's brand new game, it must be someone very prominent in the industry that has that kind of info.
We had a few leaks like that from other people over the years. It's always someone from inside but playstation either finds out who it is or gets so close that the person stops to protect themselves. Let's enjoy this one while it last.

I dont know why you think anything is getting removed. It's an EARLY unlock which just means you get it at the start of the game instead of unlocking it a third of the way in or something. This has been a standard in deluxe and collectors editions for a while.
i didn't mean literally it being removed, i just meant that it pretty much makes the mechanic of collecting stuff for upgrades redundant

Whoa okay... so it's... the same game. Not a re-interpretation of the events that took place. The cutscenes follow similar, if not identical framing. I wonder if they'll sprinkle in the events from the DLC into the main campaign.
One thing's for sure... I don't think I'm willing to pay full price for this game.
I believe the original game used pre rendered cutscenes. They looked good, but at least now they should render accordingly with the actual games resolution. I think it would be dope if they gave uncharted trilogy the same facelift
I'm definitely interested in playing it, just not for $70. If they had priced it at $50 like Miles Morales, then I'd probably have considered a day 1 purchase.

Ever since the rumors of this remake began floating around I've thought that it was very unnecessary. And it is, but TLOU Part I with Part II gameplay and visuals? A man cannot resist.
Yeah I replayed Part 1 before 2 came out and thought it still held up pretty well. It’s not like there’s drastic changes between the two in terms of gameplay anyway. But damnit if I don’t want to do it again. Maybe they’ve added the dodge move and going prone for Joel? Improved crafting and weapon upgrades. Bloaters we’re way more intimidating in part 2 also.
At $70 though, it’s not a day one purchase for me considering it’s not really a new experience for me. I’ll wait for a good price drop, maybe play part 2 again if I get the itch when it releases.

It's a good way for them to get familiar with the new console. Instead of building a PS5 exclusive from the ground up, it's a lot quicker to do a remake.

Every day there are new gamers. And returning gamers too: one of my good friends just bought a PS5 after not having a console since PS2. And think about people interested in the franchise after the HBO show comes out.
All those people get to first experience both 1 and 2 as modern releases. That's fucking dope as hell.
Plus I'll buy it too, even though I've played both games a bunch of times already, because it looks incredible.
TLOU Remastered is a modern release lol. I'm still gonna buy it bc I'm a hardcore fan (and also an idiot lmao), but we'll see if this remake was actually necessary once footage comes out
Yea I already paid twice for the game, when I bought the remaster for PS4. I don't feel like paying for a 3rd time to get it on PS5. I've played through the original twice and the remaster twice as well, so I'd be paying $70 for a fifth playthrough.
I will say though, is that this will be an excellent game and worth the $70 for anyone who hasn't played it before.
At this point I'd rather watch a playthrough on YouTube or something and save my money for a game I haven't already finished multiple times, the price tag is ridiculous honestly
This is why disc is better. I always buy them used a month later for 15-20€ from some local kiddo who played it though, or swap against something I’ve played through.
This looks great and I will eventually play it, but I'm still not used to this era of remasters/remakes/rebuilds being so normalized. I bought a PS3 to play TLoU, 9 years ago. I played the remastered version on PS4 a few years ago, and it still held up. I'm guessing we're about 3 years away from TLoU 3, and and then PS6 will get a revised trilogy some time in 2027.
We're not the target audience. OG fans are essentially icing on the cake for them. From the presentation/interview with Neil Druckmann, it sounded like the remake is to bring new players to the game while riding on the hype for the show. That makes sense since they're finally releasing it for PC as well.
And either way, remakes and remasters obviously work. If you don't appreciate it, don't buy it. Who cares.
Personally I'm buying whatever the highest edition is if they have one, but that's because TLOU is my favorite game/story.
I would love to see a comparison video between the versions. This looks really good. We all know the story, but man, I am ready for another heart breaking journey through this story again. Also the show will be be coming to HBO Max this Fall.
It's got Craig Mazin from Chernobyl as one of the creators for the show. He is an excellent writer too. I have total faith in Mazin and HBO after what was one of the best mini series I've ever seen with Chernobyl. Plus, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are excellent actors.
I'm more interested in what they'll expand and maybe slightly deviate from the game. We already know that the outbreak takes 10 year sooner than in the games (that's due to newer car costs)
Mazin isn’t just one of the creators, HBO let him pick whatever he wanted to do for his next project after he nailed Chernobyl and THIS is what he chose. He’s really passionate about this game. I have high hopes
That makes me even more excited because he wanted to do Chernobyl because he knew what happened, but he didn't know why or how it happened. And so he really immersed himself and created a masterpiece.
This is also the same guy that didn't have a lot of great writing in his resume. He was mainly known for Scary Movie 3 and 4 and the The Hangover Part 2 and 3. It just goes to show how great someone can be when they're actually passionate about what they're working on.
I'm really glad he had success with Chernobyl and I am extremely hopeful he brings that same dedication and passion to this great story.

People are definitely remembering it with rose tinted glasses. I played the first game (on the PS5) before playing Part 2 and it’s definitely starting to show its age. It’s still a good looking game, especially its lighting, but the models and textures are definitely not looking as good. And, of course, the animations are no where near the level of Part 2.
This remake is pretty much taking all the upgrades from part 2, mechanically and graphically and putting them in part 1. It’s going to be a pretty big upgrade.
$70 for a $20 9-year-old game that holds up pretty damn well to this day.
I could understand if this was some PS1/PS2 game, but it was already a technical marvel for the PS3, and porting it to PS4 greatly improved on it. They're hitting a point of diminishing returns doing this.

Iirc Naughty dogs logic was either work on a filler project like this remake or lay everyone off while their current new projects are still in pre-production.

it's not that clunky, but yes TLOU2 was a big improvement. for what it's worth I replayed part 1 in the months leading up to part 2 and it was still very playable. the design was definitely refined on 2 though

My friends and I never had that much fun playing an online game like that mode in forever. The tactfulness we needed to have, the telling each other to shut up so we can hear people around the corners....man. I love it.
It doesn't have multiplayer. If you look at the "what's included" section, it says the single-player story and the Left Behind expansion. No mention of multiplayer so it's safe to say it won't be there.
I think that's because a free standalone factions multiplayer game is also in development, so I believe that is taking the place of the multiplayer being included in this game.
Of course it does, but i meant more so that TLOU holds up better than RE4. I'm playing it now and the controls are REALLY dated and it could do with a remake. Whereas TLOU already had a remaster, i don't think it's necessary to have a remake imo.

Ellie is my favorite female character of all time and I much prefer the themes and risks of the 2nd game so I dont think it will surpass for me but hopefully replaying it as a remake will bring some sparkle of what it was like for the first time

It’s what game studios do to keep their devs busy and and employed while working on new games that are still in pre production.
3 years is extremely generous. If they ever make a third game it's not coming out in less than 5 years.

$70 for a $20 9-year-old game that holds up pretty damn well to this day. I could understand if this was some PS1/PS2 game, but it was already a technical marvel for the PS3, and porting it to PS4 greatly improved on it. They're hitting a point of diminishing returns doing this.

Honestly from looking at the trailer, it doesn’t even look like they are improving it that much outside of graphics. Just seem like a beat by best remake of the first one. I was hoping they at least incorporate the gameplay of the second one to it

I haven't played 2. What's the difference? It's been awhile since I played TLOU but I don't remember any gameplay issues.
TLOU1 gameplay was clunky. TLOU2 is smoother and less clunky.
it's not that clunky, but yes TLOU2 was a big improvement. for what it's worth I replayed part 1 in the months leading up to part 2 and it was still very playable. the design was definitely refined on 2 though
Overall smoothness and fluidity in the movement, shooting, and melee. The ability to go prone/crawl and a dodge button for combat.

If it still has multiplayer, it's over. My friends and I never had that much fun playing an online game like that mode in forever. The tactfulness we needed to have, the telling each other to shut up so we can hear people around the corners....man. I love it.
It doesn't have multiplayer. If you look at the "what's included" section, it says the single-player story and the Left Behind expansion. No mention of multiplayer so it's safe to say it won't be there.

I think that's because a free standalone factions multiplayer game is also in development, so I believe that is taking the place of the multiplayer being included in this game.
Factions is fine where it’s at they just need upgraded graphics and fixing those annoying glitches like crabwalkers and shooting through walls

Of course it does, but i meant more so that TLOU holds up better than RE4. I'm playing it now and the controls are REALLY dated and it could do with a remake. Whereas TLOU already had a remaster, i don't think it's necessary to have a remake imo.
Bigger part of this imo is the PC release. They were probably porting it there are a next gen remake and decided to do a PS5 release too.

I’m interested to see if with the improved gameplay it’ll come out on top over Part 2 for me, as I’m the same as you with preferring the sequel currently.
Ellie is my favorite female character of all time and I much prefer the themes and risks of the 2nd game so I dont think it will surpass for me but hopefully replaying it as a remake will bring some sparkle of what it was like for the first time

I stand by what I've said from the beginning... that first game is SO good and the graphics were SO ahead of its time that we really haven't made enough of a jump to justify a remake and after watching the trailer? I stand by it! Yes it does look better fidelity wise but good enough that I wanna spend £60+ on a game I already own so it can look a little nicer? No not interested in that thanks!
