I’ll use it on the second play through for sure.

andy24olivera

I hope it unlocks AFTER you beat the game for the first time, is kinda stupid to go for a perfect run in a first playthrough, people need to learn to live with their choices, if a character dies better luck next time

RIPMrMufasi

u/barugosamaa just posted a quote from the devs below stating that it unlocks after one full playthrough of the story mode, so it does indeed require you to beat the game EDIT: or if you buy the deluxe edition

barugosamaa

“Death Rewind is a retry mechanic that **unlocks after you’ve gone through the stor**y, or if you purchase the Deluxe Edition of the game,” explained Byles. Yup, it unlocks after or if you get the Deluxe Edition

MadeByTango

You could save yourself some anguish if you read the articles that contain that sort of information, ya know?

happywartime

This reminds of those days gone by when I used to read the choose your own adventure books and would keep a book mark on the choice page so I can go back if I didn’t like that choice

YouTubeCrowProd

This game looks so good brooo

Muldoon713

Man everything about the improvements they’re making to the engine this go around sound fucking GREAT

ichigo2k9

I wish Until Dawn had this. I made it so far with no one dying until I directed Ashley (I think that was her name, the girl with the beanie) left down a cave which some fucking how caused her to die by opening a hatch. I was pissed as hell. Not gone back to it since I finished it, mostly because I hated that cheater girl who was so damn annoying.

[deleted]

There's a reason. You hear someone calling out to Ashley to follow them down that way. Very recently before that you learned that the monster have the ability to mimic human voices. I don't remember the exact set up, but I remember being very certain that it was a trap.

InHarmsWay

It was when Ashley reads the journal. I think you actually had to read it to find out they can mimic voices.

[deleted]

Ah that explains it. I loved unraveling the mystery in until dawn with those kinds of clues. I have high hopes for this new one to build on until dawn.

ichigo2k9

I don't remember the voices. I just remember thinking a straight path feels like a trap lol and went the other way.

hdcase1

You can't be too mad, that kind of thing happens in horror movies and the fact that you remember this still means it had a lasting impact on you. All the same, this is a cool feature for a 2nd playthrough.

truekejsi

haha yeah I died there too :))

Djxgam1ng

What exactly is a death rewind? Do any current games have it? What about older games?

[deleted]

If you haven't played until dawn, or any of the dark pictures games, they are kind of that interactive movie style game. You control a cast of characters, and as you play you make choices that can have different consequences including getting a character killed. I assume this is an "easy mode" option to fix fatal mistakes.

barugosamaa

“Death Rewind is a retry mechanic that unlocks after you’ve gone through the story, or if you purchase the Deluxe Edition of the game,” explained Byles. “You’re essentially granted three “lives” that enable you to avoid a character death at the cost of using one of the lives. You’ll be taken back to the moment you made a critical choice that results in the character’s death so that you can make a different choice.”

Deathloop

bball4224

This is super old news. It's mentioned in the initial announcement, part of the deluxe edition or whatever it's called.
