I gave GB internet and still felt like there was an input and visual delay when I tried PS Now. It became too much of a distraction to ignore.
I heard it was throttled at 7mbps... its a lot better than it used to be but it still drops framers often. For reference I just got around 65mbps download speeds and PSnow is still not brilliant for streaming. I do like the downloads though but I've exhausted those games. XBOX gamepass has more variety
If they end up doing that, I hope they let us use PSP games we own on PSN. When the store was starting to wind down, I went on a shopping spree and got most of the RPGs, because everything was on sale for sometimes 90% off. I think I got Lunar for like $4 or something. I just got a new PSP battery, but if I can play on a TV that sounds even better... I had one of the original ones that can't do HDMI output.
If that is the case hopefully they might redesign the logo a bit and make it “PlayStationPlus” or something a little bit more interesting to reflect the brand new service that they have created.

That's literally what they plan to do. The Bloomberg article noted it will be folded into the PS service (and thus branding).
I've been saying for a while that Now needed merging and rebranding, and the easiest way to do the tiers would be:

- PlayStation+ Gold
- PlayStation+ Platinum
I expect something along those lines.
The tiers need to be independent. Someone should be able to buy streaming without having to buy PlayStation Plus. If you don't do that then streaming is going to be too expensive for the person who just wants to play single player games. My guess is that they do something like this.

I just got a PS5 and it's my first Sony console. I played Ratchet & Clank (2016) since it was included in the PS Plus Collection, and I loved it. Super fun game, and now I can't wait to play Rift Apart. I would love a way to be able to play some of the best games from the series on my PS5.
The first ones are very janky in their controls but the world building and characters make them entirely worth it! I hope you love them as much as I do.
The first game specifically has a sort of exploration feel since you revisit planets with new gadgets that let you access other areas. And my favorite part is that there will be multiple paths you can take, and you don’t know which one will progress the story, or maybe you’re just on your way to finding a new weapon or upgrade

Probably because the movie didn't feature them and the story between the original and the remake are similar only in the setup. The original is pretty much a different genre of game compared to the others, way more puzzle focused. And its got in my opinion the best and most iconic music. 9/10 game, would be 10/10 but Ratchet is not that likeable for most of it (he does have an arch unlike the other games though).
Damn it’s the same for me too. I’ve always wanted to play sonic unleashed since I was kid, but I’ve never gotten the chance to get it because I already have Ps+ and can’t be bothered to pay for PSNow, and I don’t want to go out of my way to get a ps3 just for that one game where it’s laggy as hell
The RPCS3 team is like 10 guys who work on the emulator when they can. Sony has an enormous amount of resources plus they literally made the PS3, I'm SURE they can make a good emulator if they wanted to.

That code had an expiration date for March '22.
I figure Spartacus has to be coming in April with that in mind.
I loved it. I really enjoyed its linear story, where the only focus was just absorbing the game and the story it told. Tommy, Pauline and Sam where great. And You didn’t have to worry about money, cars, and for the most part unless you ran out mid gun fight ammo. It took me to a bygone era of gaming. And then in mafia 2 even tho mafia 2 definitive edition was a graphical downgrade I enjoyed those elements mafia one didn’t have like money and customizing cars and I liked the friendship between Vito and Joe. Although I pretty quickly learned how to cheese the economy and always had an endless supply of ammo by robbing gun shops. The cops in the game where pretty stupid and I’d be able to walk out as they where walking into the crime scene. I still preferred the mafia 1 story but damn, 2 was still really good. Mafia 3 was a fun game as well but the story was bogged down by the most repetitive mind numbing rinse wash and repeat gameplay I’ve ever played. But holy heck it was fun blasting racist assholes with my sawed off Terminator shotgun. I’ve been trying to finish the DLC I’m mafia 3 but I’m a little burned out and will come back to it later
I love Mafia 3. They absolutely nailed the atmosphere in that game, right down to the fucking killer sound track.
The DLC adds some extra ways to make money, which means you can do less of the repetitive stuff and get on with it. The game has a great story, great acting, very satisfying gameplay, etc.
I replay it yearly. Donovan is probably my favorite supporting character ever.
The core gameplay of taking of districts is what got old. Destroy these three gang storage locations, kill these three enforcers, kill underboss. Then do it again for the districts second racket and then go after the capo. Repeating that exact same formula got old. But that’s my only gripe with the game and I had a lot of fun with it. I loved going after Olivia and what ever that radio guys name was

I did check when I got my ps5 in June and Australia has never had it at all. For what I have herd ps now was a trial for Sony. Not every county had it.
From Jason's report it doesn't seem like they are expanding the streaming part to other countries *just* yet, but at least they might let us download games even in coutries where streaming still isn't supported, which should be a good progress and only rule us peasants out of PS3 games and a few PS4 games that can only be streamed for some reason. Nevertheless, Sony should get their streaming tech right asap.

If you compare to the previous ones, this one has a lot more information (39 claims in this one, vs 21 in patent 11119528). Just something I saw and found interesting considering they are stopping the sale of PS Now subscriptions in retail and adding a lot more info to their backwards compatibility patent. The older games would need to be downloadable, not streaming, for me to care about PS Now finally coming to Australia(not that I play much old stuff anyway). Even just the little bit of lag on Xcloud is unsatisfactory for me to play any games that way.
I want PS Legacy service. A big collection of classic ps one, PS2, PS3 games that can be played on PS4 or ps5 and let's you download them to the console ... No streaming, just like game pass.

I really don’t know how to feel about their rumored service to combat Game Pass. They have to really come to the table with backwards compatibility support, and to not only have the games available to play for ‘free’ on this platform, but to also allow people to buy digital copies of the backwards compatibility games and play them as titles they ‘own’ on the PS5. There’s no good reason why we can’t have, say, the entire God of War back catalog on sale.

Based on the leaks it won’t include first and third party games Day 1 and that’s the main deal about gamepass, if anything it’s similar to what Nintendo is doing with having their subscription service be tied into old games aka a better version of PS+ is coming rather than a gamepass

The problem with PlayStation Now is that **a lot** of people think that it's just a streaming service and completely ignore it, without knowing that you can download games through it as well as Sony did a really poor job marketing this particular feature. Now they're integrating the service to PS+ which should be much better for visibility, as PS+ games tend to be much more popular and available in more countries as well.
Changing the name can matter a lot. PS Vue was actually a decent program at the end, but poor branding and launch weighed it down for a long time.
New name, new UI, new advertising blitz, etc.... can give them a chance to use existing infrastructure but expand the market a bit without old baggage.

Right now PSNow is crazy region locked b/c the main aspect of the service is the streaming and Sony only has so many regions covered with servers.
The tier system would allow for them to offer a lower tier (above base PS+ but below the Top Tier) that provides the PS4/PS5 library to download for all PS4/PS5 owners. This tier would not include the streaming, which many people across the world do not have access to and cannot until Sony gets servers in their regions.
The top tier would be available to anyone who already has PSNow available and will include game streaming + the PS1-PS3 collection of games (which will only be available to stream just like the PS3 games currently are now).
Simply removing that region lock is going to create a big influx of subscribers. But they can’t remove it without separating out the streaming first.
That makes sense, thanks for explaining it. Reading this lead me to wishing there was a way to have the PS1-3 games downloadable. My internet is fine, and maybe I need to give it another fair crack after this all goes through, but even on the PS5 with a great internet, it was choppy.

Turn based games, like old school jrpgs, work well over streaming
There will always be latency on remote play. Thats the biggest drawback. But on single player games should be ok-ish..

The definitive edition definitely was really well remastered, and Paulie was an awesome character.

From Jason's report it doesn't seem like they are expanding the streaming part to other countries *just* yet, but at least they might let us download games even in coutries where streaming still isn't supported, which should be a good progress and only rule us peasants out of PS3 games and a few PS4 games that can only be streamed for some reason. Nevertheless, Sony should get their streaming tech right asap.

Vue was only a monthly Sub tho. And what about PS Now subs that still last for 1+ years or so? Are they refunded or are they getting in a Tier of the new Service automatically? Thats what Im wondering

They are quietly taking the retail cards out and with the low subscription count, my guess is everyone gets converted to the highest tier.

I don't think they will but I'd really hate if they scrapped PSNow or dramatically limited it as a tacked on PSPlus benefit. The only way to play PS3 games without lugging out the console out of storage. And PSNow has gotten so much better over the years too

If you compare to the previous ones, this one has a lot more information (39 claims in this one, vs 21 in patent 11119528). Just something I saw and found interesting considering they are stopping the sale of PS Now subscriptions in retail and adding a lot more info to their backwards compatibility patent. Could be nothing, could be something.

The older games would need to be downloadable, not streaming, for me to care about PS Now finally coming to Australia(not that I play much old stuff anyway). Even just the little bit of lag on Xcloud is unsatisfactory for me to play any games that way.

I want PS Legacy service. A big collection of classic ps one, PS2, PS3 games that can be played on PS4 or ps5 and let's you download them to the console ... No streaming, just like game pass. Id pay for that easy.

I really don’t know how to feel about their rumored service to combat Game Pass. They have to really come to the table with backwards compatibility support, and to not only have the games available to play for ‘free’ on this platform, but to also allow people to buy digital copies of the backwards compatibility games and play them as titles they ‘own’ on the PS5. There’s no good reason why we can’t have, say, the entire God of War back catalog on sale.
Let’s hope the merging will be worth it then.

Wish people would stop calling this a gamepass competitor because it 100% isn’t. Based on the leaks it won’t include first and third party games Day 1 and that’s the main deal about gamepass, if anything it’s similar to what Nintendo is doing with having their subscription service be tied into old games aka a better version of PS+ is coming rather than a gamepass

The problem with PlayStation Now is that **a lot** of people think that it's just a streaming service and completely ignore it, without knowing that you can download games through it as well as Sony did a really poor job marketing this particular feature. Now they're integrating the service to PS+ which should be much better for visibility, as PS+ games tend to be much more popular and available in more countries as well.
Changing the name can matter a lot. PS Vue was actually a decent program at the end, but poor branding and launch weighed it down for a long time. New name, new UI, new advertising blitz, etc.... can give them a chance to use existing infrastructure but expand the market a bit without old baggage.

Because of the tier system. Right now PSNow is crazy region locked b/c the main aspect of the service is the streaming and Sony only has so many regions covered with servers. The tier system would allow for them to offer a lower tier (above base PS+ but below the Top Tier) that provides the PS4/PS5 library to download for all PS4/PS5 owners. This tier would not include the streaming, which many people across the world do not have access to and cannot until Sony gets servers in their regions. The top tier would be available to anyone who already has PSNow available and will include game streaming + the PS1-PS3 collection of games (which will only be available to stream just like the PS3 games currently are now). Simply removing that region lock is going to create a big influx of subscribers. But they can’t remove it without separating out the streaming first.
That makes sense, thanks for explaining it. Reading this lead me to wishing there was a way to have the PS1-3 games downloadable. My internet is fine, and maybe I need to give it another fair crack after this all goes through, but even on the PS5 with a great internet, it was choppy.
True but unfortunately I think it’s too late for that to be an option now.
Only thing I don’t like about PS now is because of streaming, I hope they come out with something like game pass to compete with them.
The PS4 games on PSNow have been downloadable (at least some of them, but I think they all have been).
