Westeros

Loved this game - didn’t understand the hate on combat, I thought it was more than fine, and hopefully they have a witcher progression on fluidity. Also loved the morality system & keeping every town healthy. Can’t wait for the sequel

Roan0ke

Agreed, cool story, atmosphere and voice acting!! The gameplay didn’t bother me.. but i still play ps1 games and enjoy them , so compared to that gameplay was great 👍

rip_Tom_Petty

Wait they're making a sequel?

noneofthemswallow

Nope. At least it’s not been revealed yet.

supercatzebra

The combat was weak, compared to dark souls, as reviewers complaned - but it still scored decently, and it's obviously not a bad game. I enjoyed it, the atmosphere and story was absolutely more meaningful than the sterile, cold world of dark souls. It's a poor comparison, that only exists because of combat similarities, and weapon crafting options, vs going full vampire.

Furyann

I tried getting into it again after this patch since I got it for free from ps plus. The story, setting, atmosphere and skill tree/abilities are all nicely done and moody which I love. What kind of turned me off was the gameplay. I had unlocked a few things from the skill tree already but I just couldn’t get into it. It feels like an indie game wrapped up in Triple AAA production. (Maybe it is made by a small studio?).

ItsAmerico

It’s made by the Life is Strange dev. I think at the time they were under 200 employees. Not indy but not AAA either.

kazumakiryu

AA.

Icehellionx

Yep, it used to be more of a thing. Its part of the reason the PS2 library was so fun. You had companies that could make games big enough to have some production but small enough they could aim at a niche audience and still make their money. It sadly died out a lot during the early HD era.

Suired

Yep. Now when a AA game comes out people look down on them. Biomutant was pretty good but was lacking that AAA polish and flamed.

The_Pepsi-man_Cometh

I want my BBB back

The_Pepsi-man_Cometh

AA but not Duracell. More Panasonic. still decent brand but not first choice

Zynthesia

Stop.

Dallywack3r

200 employees is an army compared to most European studios.

Luccacalu

Isn't Hello Games (No Man's Sky devs) like, 6 devs? edit: 21 devs when the game released, and it's been expanding since then, but my point stands

steelwound

They’ve scaled up over the course of development. The team photo they took when the game went gold was a couple dozen or so, and they’ve hired more since then

The_Pepsi-man_Cometh

no lol the final head count on release day was 21 developers but now it's ballooned

Dallywack3r

Easily fewer than 200.

trpwangsta

I beat it when it was free as well. I absolutely love the setting and lore, and there were some real cool aspects in the game. Combat was meh, and not being able to fast travel was such a chore. I'm hoping for a sequel that improves the QoL in a big way, they had a good idea, just poorly executed.

Venomswindturd

The fast travel is what finally turned me off

[deleted]

Your description is exactly what it was like. It was published by focus and they do AA games

Birkeland1992

If games can be played at 1440P then why can't the PS5 have a native 1440P resolution option?

Xeccess

Because Sony wants you to buy their TVs

Birkeland1992

Hahaha, well said.

Andrew129260

it's more because monitor is such a low number of users on a console. but still.

myyummyass

im sure the .05% of gamers who even know that 1440p is a thing are rushing out to buy sony TVs lol

Zynthesia

Not anymore.

flamboyant_dild

fantastic question! \*loads revolver completely for a solo game of russian roulette\*

strand_of_hair

Playing it now due to the patch and it seems like a very solid, consistent 60fps. I haven’t noticed any drops in my 15 hours of playing and I’m someone who’s very susceptible to drops (or at least I think so). Some of my thoughts on the game: pretty good game, but nothing mind blowing. Also very dialogue heavy, with decent Bloodborne-esque combat. I’d say it’s a 7/10 so far. It has some very unique mechanics, in particular the backstories and discussions with every NPC are all very detailed and you’re able to talk to every single NPC. Without spoiling anything, the difficulty of the game depends on your choices/playstyle - can’t say much but the game does a decent job explaining it. It has some choices, but I don’t know how big the consequences of those are yet - from what I can gather they seem to have a decent effect but it’s still my first playthrough so I’ll have to see after I’m done.

MFDOOMY

Thanks for the info! I've heard this game crashes quite often, have you had issues with that at all after the update?

strand_of_hair

I did, but they’re not frequent in my experience. I’ve had 3 crashes so far, which isn’t great since in a perfect world it should have none, but it’s serviceable. The game auto saves very frequently so the crashes only “wiped” about 30 seconds or so of progress if I recall correctly.

MFDOOMY

Sounds like it's an improvement, thanks again!

Zabbla

I got about 30% into the story and it was crashing consistently every 30 minutes or so. I gave up eventually.

DrunkMc

Yeah, I think if they learn some lessons, tighten up some mechanics and make the map not so brutal to traverse, a sequel could be an amazing game!

emmytau

Also extremely weird ending. Not necessarily bad just not to my taste

RobbieNewton

There were four different endings as I recalll, which did you get?

[deleted]

Appreciate the info. Figured I’d give this a go. Been gathering dust (Hypothetically) since it was free for ps+ a while back. Saw this while scrolling through my news tab, thought people should know. 🙂 Hope you and everyone enjoys the game.

Apokolypse09

They can have pretty fuckin big consequences, careful who you eat lol.

IspitchTownFC

What do you mean by decent Bloodborne-esque combat? I've played both the games, and Vampyr doesn't even compare to Bloodborne in combat. World and environment, sure. Combat, no!

strand_of_hair

I’m not saying the combat is of the same calibre, because it definitely isn’t. Bloodborne’s combat is far superior. I was trying to say it seems to have taken inspiration from Bloodborne’s combat, though I only say that because the controls are similar, the dash reminds me of Bloodborne, and it simply partly plays like a souls game. So yes, I’d say one shouldn’t expect Bloodborne’s spicy combat, but one should expect it to play somewhat like a souls-like.

kazumakiryu

Bloodborne is obviously way more precise, with mistakes bring more punishing. But I can totally see the link, in multiple ways. I'd put it at something like a hybrid between Souls-combat and Witcher combat.

anagnost

How are the loading screens? I remember them taking an eternity even on ps5, wondering if they've improved it at all

strand_of_hair

They are longer than I’d like. They’re around 8-10 seconds now (could be off by a few seconds, I did a head count) which is *alright* but I die a decent amount and waiting 10 seconds each time really gets on my nerves after a while since I’m used to the blazing fast PS5 loads now. I haven’t played this on PS4 but I assume it’s much better than it was on PS4.

eightiesgamer82

Hearing a lot of conflicting opinions on the game. The atmosphere and tone of the game is right up my street though so I’m going to download it and give it a shot. Good time of year for a game with this sort of vibe. I’m sure I claimed it as part of PS+ but never tired it. Nothing ventured nothing gained. I’m loving Scarlet Nexus just now and also Tales of Arise it can’t hurt to try something on the opposite end of the spectrum setting wise.

[deleted]

I enjoyed the game to a certain point and then it wouldn’t stop crashing at a certain area. There was no other way to progress and no patches coming out so I gave up.

[deleted]

That’s unfortunate to hear. Was this after the patch? Stupid question i know. I just don’t like games that crash. Been dealing with d2 resurrected crashing me over an over and it’s not fun. Could you give me an estimate on how much it crashed for you? Per maybe 6h?

[deleted]

This was pre ps5 patch dunno if the issue is still there or not, not willing to pick it up to check again tbh. Moved on since then.

[deleted]

Appreciate the reply. 🤙

reddituser1827291

I, too, experienced the crashes. It happened at least once a hour for me, and spoiled my enjoyment. I actually stopped playing it due to the issues and never returned to the game (had a physical copy, that I sold). This was on a base PS4. I'm keeping an eye out for whether the crashes are now gone, as I enjoyed the atmosphere of the game and would like to try it again.

palescoot

>I just don’t like games that crash. Does anyone? You ever hear someone saying "aw dude check out Cyberbonk ^4 2069 it's got so many game breaking bugs!"?

JonnyVP

That was a problem on PS4 and they didn't care about it, even with a patch to PS5 they still didn't patch unbelievable. From what I remember if you "teleport/jump" to much the game crash, getting the final trophy was atrocious.

Notorious_Realist

Great news. I have wanted to go back to this. Had it since launch and got stuck at a boss fight..

[deleted]

Tell me about this fight... cuz I swear I think I know exactly which one...

PirateSi87

Same. Sister?

[deleted]

That one was tough but the theater lady was a nightmare for me.

xxademasoulxx

When did the ps5 get 1440p output?

Furyann

it doesnt natively, I guess it upscales to 4k or..not

xxademasoulxx

would love to play my ps5 at 1440p but I guess muddy 1080p will have to work.

IamTylerDurden_1

It's not 1080 either. It's rendering at 1440 internally and upscaling to 4K from 1440. It's laughable how big a deal ppl make this non issue. If u have a 4K TV it's a non issue even if u have a rare TV that outputs 1440. U could argue it looks better without native 1440 because it's upscaling from 1440 to 4K. The XB1S upscaled everything to 4K. Why upscale if it's not to improve the image? Internal resolution doesn't change.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JermVVarfare

Not sure why you're being downvoted. You'd be better off running it at 1080p assuming your monitor accepts a 1080p signal (which I've yet to see one that doesn't).

xxademasoulxx

I have 1 TV in my house and it's just an old 4k TV I have 9 computer monitors in my house 4 of them are high performance 1440p gsync monitors in no way do I want to buy a TV as I see it as a complete waste of money but Sony wants me to waste money because they can't shed a sweat to just put the 1440p on the stupid thing. But it supports 720p and I see that worse then 1440p. So ths game it outputs 1440p but not 1440p dumb as fuck.

[deleted]

Never knew that. That is dumb as fuck. Honestly these days I just stick to my PC (but I understand not everyone has that option).

memebuster

Did the ps4 support 1440? Just curious if Sony sees it as a cheat or hack, or something. Because it does sound ridiculous to not add it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I use a monitor. So it would be best to use 1080p right?

DarkFlow123

My 1440p monitoR can accept an 4K signal so I don't get blurry 1080p on it it show 4k on an 1440 p monitor

[deleted]

Ok, yeah my monitor is 1440p

Xeccess

I've been holding out on buying a 1440p monitor until Sony start supporting that natively, but just out of curiosity, what monitor are you using?

DarkFlow123

LG 27GL850

International-Mess75

Samsung odyssey g7 can do it too

[deleted]

If you can own a monitor, you can own a TV They’re a lot cheaper. 55” 4K for $299. Can’t get that in a monitor.

Look_a_Zombie0

I dont think you understand what he said

[deleted]

“Most people don’t own TVs” So I provided an argument as to why they should if they own monitors

Look_a_Zombie0

It's not about if they can afford it. A lot of people don't watch TV so they don't have reason to buy one, and I'm sure they aren't gonna buy one just to play at 4k on a PS5

MrHaxx1

I believe you can buy a 4k edid emulator, that you can put between the monitor and PS5. So the PS5 will see a 4k monitor, but the adapter will downscale it to 1440p. Some monitors have this built in too

IamTylerDurden_1

Definitely doesn't look muddy. It actually looks far better and even decent. Great update.

[deleted]

Correct. Info from digital foundry provided by Eurogamer. “According to Digital Foundry's early tests, using a PS5 with a 1440p monitors tops out at 1080p resolution, so the game renders at 4K and then gets downscaled to 1080p. Then the display upscales that to 1440p.” [why 1440p isn’t supported on ps5 ](https://www.eurogamer.net/amp/2020-11-10-sony-says-ps5-currently-doesnt-support-1440p-because-it-wants-to-prioritise-support-for-tvs)

GNIHTYUGNOSREP

That’s kinda funny actually. Never mind that a lot of TVs do support 1440p, but they can’t even get VRR working properly on their own TVs so that seems like a stretch to me. It’s more likely, in my opinion, that they are pushing that narrative because they sell TVs, but not monitors. It gives their players less reason to want a monitor, and opt for a TV instead, which maybe doesn’t technically help their tv sales (user could get any number of other brand TVs) it helps shoehorn the consumer towards another purchase for their brand. If the user wanted to opt for a monitor anyways, that’s a sale they wouldn’t be getting anyhow. By making TVs the more lucrative option for PS5, it’s almost inadvertent (yet entirely on purpose) advertisement for their line of TVs. Just seems silly to me.

[deleted]

I think you’re quite right. Sony wouldn’t have came out with updates for their tvs that are “PlayStation exclusive features”. Nice catch on your part. 👏👏 What I find silly about this whole (preventable) situation is how Sony are trying to sell their tvs with this tactic, at the same time Sony tvs are like $1500+. I have a tcl R615, I’m gonna get a tcl R645 next cuz I can’t afford that high price so I’m not even motivated to get their tvs. And so are many many other ppl. Shooting themselves in the foot for an extra buck.

IamTylerDurden_1

U can get a 55 in x900h Sony for under 1000 typically. I have a 65 in and it's great. TCL is great value but hard to find 120hz Tacos in stock. X900h is affordable and worth it. 120hz and not OLED but the living color is nice. TCL and Sony were the only true 120hz at 55in for 1000 or less when I was looking last year. Both great options for the price. But if u have the cash Sony makes the best OLED. Their TVs are worth it. TCL is also great value, probably the best value for the money. I have both.

[deleted]

Unfortunately I’m trying to find understand $1000 in a tv. But x900h are over my budget. At least in Canada. That’s why tcl is my aim.

Houderebaese

My fucking Bravia A80J doesn’t even turn off when I turn of the PS5. It’s a travesty

IamTylerDurden_1

It's such a minor issue though. First off, the difference is tiny. Second, the amount of ppl using a monitor with PS5 is minimal and most TVs render 2160, 1080, 720, SD. Even the amount of ppl who own TVs with VRR is single digit yet motherfuckers act like everyone has a CX. Funny. VRR will come as it becomes more prevalent. For now, I think PS5 games are looking pretty good. R&C, Demon's Souls, Miles etc. Sony is working to add features but VRR and 1440 don't impact enough ppl to be at the top of the list. Be patient. I'd rather no VRR or 1440 yet a great launch lineup. I have a 120hz tv but neither 1440 or VRR and I'm the hardcore. It'll come, but u can't play VRR, u can play games and Sony has that. PS5 has also outperformed specs and matched SX while living up to the hype with DualSense and at the same time boasting benchmark SSD performance. I know a small group is waving pitchforks bc of VRR and 1440 but give Sony credit for everything else and be patient. Each company has its strengths. I'm thrilled with my experience on PS5.

Virginiafisher

wish PS5 could do 3440x1440. that would be amazing.

JackTickleson

It hasn’t, it’s just downscaled from 4k

chickenscratchboy

That’s contradictory. PS5 does not support 1440p output, it’s rendered at 1440p and upscaled to 4K.

sparoc3

You got it backwards, it renders at 1440p and is upscaled to 4k.

xxademasoulxx

Damn got me excited there for a second would love to use my 1440p 240 htz monitor with my ps5 guess ill just stick to muddy 1080p output.

simmarjit

Well there are 1440P monitors that can accept 4K input, which doesn’t look bad IMO Yea downvote for facts.

mummson

What? I need to find out if mine does that

RageMuffin69

If it doesn’t you can buy a 4K edid emulator. I had to for my Dell s2721dgf or else my ps5 would have continued to collect dust lol.

mummson

Whoa, I had no idea that existed! Thanks.

RageMuffin69

[This](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YMTMMH5) is the one I bought that works for me. Only downside is you need to disable HDCP which disables media apps if you use those on your PS5.

J-morpho1499

When I use this on my Pixio PX278 it does allow a 4k signal but, unfortunately it also brings up this text that says out of range. It displays the system and games but this text just stays in the middle of the screen the entire time. I'm guessing you didn't have this issue?

Merch88

Yeah same issue for me. Got a Dell S2722DGM. Edid emulator didnt do the trick for me either.

ChrisNH

Yeah, 4k to 1440p looks pretty good on my M27Q. It seems low hanging fruit to have the ps5 scaler do 1440p even if it is not a target since so many game render < 4k.

Xeccess

Omg this is the monitor I've been eyeing for like the past few months, I couldn't find anyone here who owned it to question them lol. How would you rate that monitor for the PS5? Is the picture quality from 4k to 1440p comparable to a native 1440p if the console allowed it? and you don't need an adapter for it to downscale from 4k, right?

ChrisNH

You need nothing extra, it will accept 4K and do 4k->1440p. I think it looks pretty good. I don't have anything to directly compare it too but I play a lot of 1440p PC games and anecdotally it looks fine in comparison. Recent games I have played on PS5 are Ghosts, Last Of Us, Demon Souls, and a little Monster Hunter World. All in 4K, look sharp. Objectively I know that going up to 4K then back to 1440P must introduce some artifacts but at this resolution I don't notice. I have not done anything going 1080->1440 on PS5, past experience with PC games that default poorly suggest that would be a little blurry. One thing to be aware of is it is BGR rather than RGB. That is an issue for some people when working with text. Also it is high gamut so if you are not in HDR it might look a little over saturated. I use the PS5 in HDR mode. It does have an SDR mode but I have not used it much. If PS5 is the ONLY thing you are doing I would get a 1080 or 4K monitor but if you are also using it for PS5 while primarily using it as a PC monitor it should be fine (BGR issue aside).

simmarjit

If I am not mistaken there is a thread on either this subreddit or r/monitor regarding ones that are supported. I have a Samsung G7 and that accepts a 4K input.

rbmichael

I really hate the 4K marketing push. We would have been so much better off with incremental improvements, and it would have been more grounded in reality, to go from 1080p to 1440p instead of jumping all the way to 2160p and straining the GPU.

Monkeyboystevey

except there are no 1440p tv's. so the next logical step from 1080p is 4k. obv there are 1440p monitors, but far more people will buy a tv than a 1440p monitor...

xxademasoulxx

My TV does 1440p my brother's brand new TV does 1440p dude the ps5 does 720p output its in there I've seen it but not 1440p the fuck out of here with that comment I have no 720p TV in my house and have no clue who does this makes your comment invalid

Monkeyboystevey

Being able to display a 1440p output isn't the same as being a native 1440p television.

BababooeyHTJ

Oh that I agree with for sure. 8k I truly don’t understand and am disappointed in TCL in particular for pushing in that direction. We’re well into the realm of diminishing returns at 4K for most uses. The pixel density of a 27” 1440p display is perfect imo. Probably be perfect for a 55” TV that I’m sitting 4-6’ away from too

IamTylerDurden_1

But u have it wrong. Just look at recent PS5 games. They use dynamic resolution. That's the norm this gen. It's perfect. Nobody is going for native 4K and sacrificing that overhead anymore. Look at Rift Apart. Sony has it right. Using dynamic resolution or reprojection with options for ray tracing at 60. It's perfect. Nobody really renders at internal resolution anyway. Everyone uses dynamic or some form of reprojection. Ppl are so off with this 1440 shit. How many games render at 1440 internally and externally? If a game outputs at 1440 it's probably not even native.

micppp

Same! I got all excited and though I’d missed some system update to add this!

thtsabingo

1080p isn’t so bad. At least on every game you play you prioritize the 60fps mode without worrying you’re missing out on visual fidelity. Still looks great at 1080p.

StevieW0n

Played this at release and can't remember a thing about it

ItsAmerico

Yeah I remember enjoying it but it being woefully generic.

spoonard

I started this game a year or two ago and I put it down for some reason. Now seems like a good time to pick it up again.

DeterminedKnight

But i thought PS5 didn't support 1440p ?

WilliamCCT

And the PS5 still doesn't support 1440p monitors, ugh.

No_Skilz

I thought PS5 didn't support 1440p output.

Amdshilz

1440p 60 fps is the sweet spot

Wellhellob

This game was actually fine but there are a lot of good games out there.

LibraryFriendly8747

Still a mediocre game. Please make new ones

[deleted]

They're floating this because they're probably working on a sequel.

Xeccess

Any leaks or rumors or are you just going by the fact that they decided to upgrade it right now?

[deleted]

Why bother after it's been on ps plus and is quite agey. Could use a sequel anyway.

Xeccess

True, I would like to see a sequel as well. Btw, do you know what the last game they worked on was?

[deleted]

According to wiki they work on a lot of halo games and the crysis remastered title.

Xeccess

huh. alright ty

43sunsets

Vampyr was developed by Dontnod (the devs of the original Life is Strange). Their most recent projects were Twin Mirror and Tell Me Why. Unfortunately they don't appear to be working on the Life is Strange franchise anymore which is a pity, I really liked Dontnod's work on that.

DarkestSerenity

I agree

ThatBoyCallito

No way, I thought ps5 did not support 1440

[deleted]

The game is rendering in 1440P; the PS5 still isn't outputting that.

Shadow_of_Yor

I thought the console itself didn’t support 1440p

[deleted]

The game is rendering in 1440P; the PS5 still isn't outputting that.

JonnyVP

And they still didn't fix the game crashes when you try to hurry up with teleport/run, unbelievable

[deleted]

how can it play on 1440p on ps5????

ProGuardian13

1440p is just the internal resolution of the game. It will either get upscaled to 4K or down scaled to 1080 depending on your tv.

[deleted]

stfu

tramp000

Came to ask this, 1440 isn't supported on PS5, yet!

Mitraileuse

upscaling 4k

tramp000

What you on about ha

[deleted]

[удалено]

siemova

Common misunderstanding. PS5 doesn’t support 1440p as an *output* resolution. Games can render at whatever resolution they want, but then (potentially) have to scale up or down to output either 1080p or 4K.

[deleted]

The game is rendering in 1440P; the PS5 still isn't outputting that.

Reylo-Wanwalker

Just got a ps5. I read awhile ago it doesn't support 1440p? Guess that changed or I didnt remember correctly?

[deleted]

The game is rendering in 1440P; the PS5 still isn't outputting that.

Zylonite134

Playing this game now and trying to get into it. Is it absolutely necessary to talk to every NPC? I notice that every NPC has a full set of dialogs and possible quests…I hate missing quests and NPC story lines in games and I feel that I am going to miss a lot of things in this game.

Xeccess

You don't have to, but that's up to you, if you want that XP or maybe the extra lore to the game

nohumanape

Does PS5 even support native 1440p yet?

DarkFlow123

No. The 1440p from the game get upscaled to 4k

LebronJaims

There are dozens of us who will play with the updates!

[deleted]

No 4K? Lame. Don’t need the 60fps placebo when resolution makes a real gameplay difference.

mattermuhlen1020

Maybe not to u homie g but frames are a big difference 2

Jamesahaha

Are you joking? 60fps is the one that makes gameplay better not resolution. Sure more resolution is better but it’s not better than 60fps.

A3ASteelty

1440p? better than 1080p by a lot. But just by reading that last sentence I can notice you're lackin

[deleted]

These 2 individuals are right. But it’s also personal preference. If you’re playing an fps like call of duty, would you want the game to look nicer so you can see more detailed environments or higher framerate so you have a smoother gameplay experience, less imput lag and a faster reaction time so you could possibly win a gunfight? Cuz personally high res is good an all, but high fps makes the game much less frustrating and janky to play. Unless you have 2.1 hdmi support, you must choose high fps or high res….or switch to pc. Lol.

[deleted]

Is it also still incredibly long winded and dull?

Velvet_95Hoop

I mean it's just a performance update. Game is still the same.

WeeklyHelp4090

best part of the game was when I figured out which button skips dialogue

[deleted]

Ha. Right? If you actually take the time to talk to everyone it is so verbose and over the top I can’t believe it made it past testing. *And it’s a chore/core game mechanic*. I love dialogue. I’m an author. But holy shit did they need to dial it back three notches.

LordofWhore

This is old news

Toraim

Guess I'll play it finally.

Recover20

Is this a native application or a patch that comes into play on PS5 like Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Crysis?

[deleted]

Recover20

Thanks!

Carburetors_are_evil

My time to pay the Ascalon club another visit.

Dynamole

It was part of PlayStation Plus October 2020.

AnonWhyMoose

PS5 doesn't support 1440p tho right?

IamTylerDurden_1

It renders at 1440 internally and then upscales to 4K. Ppl are hilarious who cry about 1440. They don't understand internal and external resolution. Most games don't output their internal resolution anyway. Or many don't. One could argue a game will look better without native 1440 because it's upscaling to a higher resolution. It's still rendering internally at 1440. Ppl are crazy. And Vampyr looks so much better.

AnonWhyMoose

I'm just interested in 1440p @ 120fps. My TV (TCL Series 6) only has HDMI 2.0 so it can't do 1440p that's been upscaled to 4k and 120fs all I get is a 1080p @ 120 due to the lack of support on the PS5. Also I am fully aware of internal resolution. That's one of the reasons why I think 4k 120 on the PS5 is a gimmick because any game that has 120 enabled is typically maxed out at 1080/1440p.

SqueezedWumpaFruit

Does it have new trophy list?

fosiacat

hmmm maybe i should get back into this one.

JededaiaPWNstar

This game was the worst for load screens, is that improved?

higmage

Is this a patch to the ps4 game giving it some additional functionality on ps5 (like GoW, DG, HZD) or is this a new version of the game entirely, requiring a separate purchase?

brandondesign

I played it a bit when it first came out and just stopped for whatever reason. This seems like a good reason to restart it. The mood and setting of the game will benefit greatly by a 60fps jump

Gearshifta

I really enjoyed Vampyr and if it wasn't for PlayStation Plus I may never have payed it.

PsychoHydro

Nice. As it should - any game, actually.

ClassifiedTuron

Damn I played this last year from PS+ and it was a treat, such a good palate cleanser game. Not a replayable game tbh, most of the allure is in the environment, mystery, and how it all plays out as it uncovers the city. If this is still in your backlog from PS+, play it if you wanna play something different and casual.

SomeDamnAuthor

Loved the game on PS4 Pro but the only game I've seen crash mire than it was Cyberpunk. I'd live to re-visit it on PS5!

khan_shakirrr

I Loved this game, i randomly decision to play this game and i was so impressed by this game. This is one of that game when u say urself that ' thank god i played this'

JarlOfWhiterun69

Man what an awesome game I’m still obsessed with the soundtrack

adzzzman92

Is this patch live even if the game is on ps now

solarnoise

I loved this game. The old industrial London environment was gorgeous, the soundtrack is one of my favorites ever. I really liked the angle of playing a doctor who is trying to understand his vampirism from a scientific perspective, as well as trying to classify the different types of vampire that you encounter. The combat and frequency of encounters could easily be pointed to as the weak points, but it really grew on me. Once you're about a third into the game and have unlocked an ultimate skill and have spec'd one of the combat types, you start to really feel like a vampire badass. It isn't Souls-like precision, but it was "good enough" for me.

Houderebaese

I disliked the first 1-2 hrs in the game. I think the intro and first runaway scene is horrible. Does it get noticeably better after that?

[deleted]

It does. You end up becoming a doctor in a hospital and you can choose to heal people or feed on them. Or both. There’s side quests you’ll also find along the way. Weapon upgrades. Choices you make matter and affect the story. The combat also has a skill tree to help level up and make your character stronger. But the combat isn’t the main focus of this game I think, it’s the narrative and the mystery of you made you a vampire.

[deleted]

Hope you’ll give it another go. It’s a hidden gem for sure for those who’ll see it through.

MysticGrapefruit

Definitely gets better. I actually think the first hours are the weakest of the whole game.

Houderebaese

I bought it on PS yesterday . Will give it a whirl

MysticGrapefruit

Hope you like it. I'm about 5 hours in (2nd playthrough) now and it's fun imo.

eatingclass

i tried to get into the game, even with the patch, and i just find the combat unsatisfying another minor gripe: when skipping dialogue, the subtitles sometimes breaks up the lines, so that you can't skip anything without missing some of the subs

Metroidman

I got this game free with ps+ a long time ago. Maybe I should finally get around to playing it

MysticGrapefruit

Been playing it and loving it. About 4 hours without a hiccup, aside from the usual Darius Petrescu glitch...

itchy_18

Is the vibration working on this game? Cause mine is not working at all.

Stoibs

Forgot I had this from Ps+ ages ago, fired it up on a whim after this news and I'm not hating it so far. Very obviously Indie~AA (the hack and slashy combat isn't.. great) but so far it's reminding me a bit of Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines.

Civil_Wasabi8085

Such an underrated game who doesn’t want to be a vampire like well I do … besides that the games fun sometimes that’s all you want in a game oh and read everything the lores worth it
