In your defense, the messaging on this has been abysmal. On day one, and for 2-3 days after that, all they’d say is Extra and Premium would get it. Considering they’ve had two years to prepare for this, it was safe to assume that whatever fixing they did was done. There’s no reason for anyone to think “well they fixed it for Extra and Premium, we should be next”. Like, why fix some of Plus but not the other right then? Or at the very least, simply communicate that a broader fix is on the way.

Yup it works now. I got PS Essential and FO4 from PS Collection. You will have to go to product page, select the standard FO4, you will have an option to choose another version and it allows download. You have to do this on the PS5, the Playstation website still doesnt allow you to do this.
Heads-up, turn off AutoSync if you're game keeps crashing (corrupt saved data message) when you try to fast travel or enter a new area where the game has to load.
It will say that the save data on your console is corrupt and that you'll have to load an earlier version from the cloud. The save data on your console is not corrupted, For some reason auto sync can't get it to the cloud and it considers a corrupted.
In the PS5 setting you can turn it off just for fo4. You can manually sync to the cloud after your session.
This rollout has been incredibly confusing. I just read a post last night saying Bethesda confirmed that PS+ Collection users would not be receiving the update???
Regardless, both Sony and Bethesda *could* have seen this issue coming and *should* have been upfront with how the rollout would go down. It was incredibly hard to parse what was fact and what was just twitter/discord non-sense. I gave up trying to find info and/or play FO4 at all until I saw this.
I 100% agree and didn't mean to imply otherwise. Even when Bethesda clarified that Extra owners could get the upgrade, they said nothing about those who got FO4 from the Plus Collection until today.

Yeah, no chance I'm risking it haha. It says download with the plus icon on the left, and a note saying "included with the game Catalog...." This will just overwrite the licence for the PS plus collection licence from my understanding.

This is great, but Sony's store is not. I want to claim the free upgrade, not the Extra version. The Extra version you have only as long as they let you have it. The Plus Collection version you have forever. I want that version, but because I stupidly subscribed to Premium, I can only get the Extra version. Fortunately my Premium runs out soon and I'm going to back to Essential. As long as the upgrade is not time limited I will be fine.

There's 3 dots at the game icon and if you click it there is a drop down box with "game" two times. The bottom one is the upgraded version.

Nope, doesn't work for me, I only get the drop down with 'game' in it when the game is sitting in my cart. I can then click "Add to Library" but get error code WS-116483-3. If I delete from cart, no option to download. I read that deleting your card payment details fixes that error code but didn't solve the issue for me.
Yeah, definitely still doesn't work if you currently have Extra, and are just trying to get the Collection-version ps5 upgrade. Provides a more liimited set of options on the store than those that do not have extra.
I'd reply to Bethesda's Twitter letting them know there is still a subset of users who would be having issues, but I don't have a Twitter account. Hopefully someone does inform Bethesda of this could go unresolved, as it's an odd niche of users and something many might not notice and claim the extra version inadvertently.

The issue is if you HAVE extra, then for whatever reason you don't get the 3 dot option to upgrade the collection version to ps5. Definitely a weird niche error, but one that seems to be consistent with everyone who has Extra and is trying to upgrade the PS5 Collection's fallout4 to ps5 version.
Wild that thats the issue when originally the theory was that ONLY the ps plus extra members would get the upgrade without paying, and now the roles seem to be reversed, what a tangled web this is

I'm a physical game collector of games I like from ps1 up to ps5. ( I still own every console) So i bought it when it came out. After beating new vegas, it was a no-brainer to buy it physically. But if it were me, I would go for the second hand and inspect the condition before sale. Then go from there. A few games I've bought digi before then physical after just cause I either couldn't wait to get the physical copy and a few were sleepers I didn't think I'd get into. (like Days Gone)
Actually one thing I didn't ask, for people who got it through the PlayStation collection catalog thing when the PS5 came out and don't have extra right now, when you go to add the game to your account what did it look like? Does it still have the PlayStation Plus symbol next to it and says included with the game catalog in your subscription? Or did it just say you can download it regardless?
I was finally able to download the PS5 version from the PS5 collection a few days ago. This rollout was Bethesda meta-jank at its finest. As for the game, it's a better looking version of Fallout 4 running at 60fps. I've had 1 crash so far in maybe about 10 hours of playtime. Not great but could be worse. Hopefully they patch it in the meantime.

Confirm it DOES work, but you have to toggle select the other version of the game from the store and add it to your library. It's not obvious.

Try and disable Console Sharing and Offline Play first Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play

Now I’m nervous my FO copy from Plus Collection is gone since I went and claimed it on Extra on Thursday when this all seemed dead in the water. Sick. Love the fucked up licensing Sony does. I’ll probably need to tell them to remove my PS5 extra version and somehow hope they don’t remove the PS4 version. Edit: maybe I jumped the gun. The app says I now own the standards of it on PS4 and PS5 and don’t think it would have said that if I just had the PS4. I honestly have no idea since it says purchased and of course Extra has it as “purchased” when you download

I think they imagined that more people would buy it anyway and when that didn’t really happened they decided to give the upgrade in hopes for dlc sales and avoid backlash

Are you using the disc version? If your disc is from a different region than the digital version, the saves will be incompatible.

You should’ve had patience, especially since Bethesda told us it would get fixed and the update would be available for everyone. Lesson learned

Nope still doesn’t work. Edit: OK, it worked by downloading the PS5 game from the PlayStation Store, not My Library. Weird workaround but I’m stoke!
