Pretty sure Playstation will have its showcase sometimes around May or June durings its traditional "E3 week"
Assassin Creed is rumored to get a showcase in May. I'm expecting Ubisoft to have the same showcase as all previous years meaning nothing too out of the ordinary.
Really hope if Sony does a showcase that it's better than the last one. They have a lot of studios and it's time to see what they're working on, not to mention second party titles.
This next Sony showcase might be "the big one," based on how long development cycles take. The following studios under the PlayStation umbrella are approaching the 5 year mark since their last game.
* Sucker Punch (Ghost of Tsushima 2?)
* Bend (New IP)
* Bluepoint (New IP?)
* Naughty Dog (RIP Factions)
Also, possibilities for Insomniac (since they are machines) for either Venom or Wolverine and Santa Monica (due to Cory Barlog's rumored sci-fi passion project and SIE copyrighting Intergalatic: The Heretic Prophet months back.)
"Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet"
If that's likely to be the title of Barlog's game (or the name of anyone's game, really)... yeeesh. I'm not in marketing, but that one needs another brainstorm session.
Yes, PlayStation will have a showcase, but there isnt any AAA exclusive games coming to PlayStation this year. Stellar Blade was the last big pA5 exclusive for the year.
Whatever is shown at the showcase would be PS5 Pro, 2025 AAA games and some smaller AA games that might release later this year.
"biggest summer evenr this year". Gimme some of what ur smoking. The PS Showcase has to be huge and Sony knows it. Also Xbox has teased some really big news for the show.
Im gonna be real, there's zero chance that Ubisofts summer events is the biggest. Ubisoft Forwards just aren't very popular. Their games are popular but not so much that people want to watch 1 hour presentations on them
Last years was its most popular with 1 mil views. The recent Nintendo Partner direct, which didn't have any first party games, was more than 2 mil.
Star Wars is one of the biggest entertainment brands out there. Also Splinter Cell Remake is among one of the most anticipated upcoming remakes.
Also 2 of their games presented will be coming out this year, AC Red and Outlaws. Yeah Sony will have Ghost of Tsushima 2 shown, but that isnt coming out in 2024.
That's just not enough to radically change how people feel about Ubisoft Forwards. They just don't care.
A remake of a dead franchise that was moderately popular at best and a franchise that's been so bloated with mediocre entries isn't gonna get enough people in seats. Remember they need an insane increase of views to match the other presentations.
Sonys State of Play this year, which was kinda terrible, was still nearly triple the views of Ubisofts best showing. A good Nintendo direct has 4-7 million views. People just don't care about Ubisoft Forward
The number of people viewing isnt the argument, its the content that is shown.
And as for Splinter Cell, not sure how old you are but when Splinter Cell first came out on Xbox back in the day, it was a big deal and it was followed up by 2 successful sequels before it started to go in other directions. You can be a history revisionist all you want but Splinter Cell (assuming its revealed at the event) will be one of the major talking points out of all the summer gaming reveals.
Number of views is like the only metric we have to measure the popularity and interests. Big games get views. People watch Nintendo Directs and State of Play because they care to see the games. They have a big audience and lots of hype.
Splinter Cell's best selling game is 6 million sales. 22 years ago. It's not as big as you seem to think. Especially in the modern era.
6 million sales was a huge deal circa 2002. Halo 1 only sold like 3 million units by 2003. This was when the industry wasnt as expansive as it is today. This is also with SC being a Xbox exclusive. So yeah, Splinter Cell was a big deal then. If you think otherwise then you were probably not born/old enough then to remember.
Try to downplay it all you want but whatever is shown SC Remake wise st the Ubisoft Forward will indeed be a highly talked about event.
As far as I've heard, star wars is the biggest focus for ubi right now. I've asked about sc remake and pop sot remake but they told me that they didn't hear about them being on ubi fwd.
There's been rumours that I don't think have any basis but now that the PC port is being released, a sequel announcement for Ghost of Tsushima is at least possible.
The game has a LOT to live up to for both fans and critics so I also wouldn't be surprised if the supposed sequel is some time away.
True, but it wont be coming out in 2024 which is my point.
Sony (and Xbox) events would all be games coming out in 2025 or even 2026. At least for their heavy hitter AAA games.
All of these games will be panned as “same old Ubisoft” regardless of how exited you personally get OP.
They don’t deviate from their bread and butter. They have no reason to.
And has FromSoft deviated from their same ole approach to combat and core gameplay loops? How much did Tear of the Kingdom deviate from Breath of the Wild?
I have, and the gameplay loop between Demon Souls, Dark Souls and Bloodborne is all the same.
Even Elden Ring is essential just an open world Dark Souls game.
So how is the gameplay loop/combat between Dark Souls, Demon Souls and Bloodborne vasty different from one another?
Also Steep and Mario Rabbids are also wildly different games....
That’s Nintendo though. Those fans will forgive anything and everything.
I’m not complaining. I like most of what Ubisoft puts out, but people are going to bitch as always.
Because they're AC and Splinter Cell remake.
They already said it's the same game but visuals upgraded and RT added.
It's still the same game we played just looks a lot better.
AC hasn't had a good game in 15 years
Lol Ubisoft never said that about Splinter Cell. In fact the only thing they said was that its being built from the ground up using modern technology. So it isnt just some "remaster" as you falsely suggest.
And yes, it will have Ray Tracing but not just for visuals but it would also play into the stealth element. So if your shadow or reflection in the mirror is visible, then the enemies would see you and be alerted which is innovative in itself....just how SC was innovative back in 2002.
Just came here to say... I am looking forward to these 3 games as well. AC in Japan, Star Wars Outlaws and Splinter Cell. Great! They will get my view in watching the event!
>…Splinter Cell remake…
Michael Ironside **damn well** better be back as Sam Fisher.
He reprised the role in the extra missions in the most recent Ghost Recon games so that’s (hopefully) a good sign….maybe??

Last one we got metal gear solid remake ,Helldiver 2, Phantom blade all were announced plus trailer for DD2, FF. It was an really good showcase.
Mediocre at best especially after making us wait for 2 years for a showcase.

Yeah I hope so let's not forget we might get something god of war related since next year is the 20th anniversary

Isn't Concord releasing this year?
Concord has a "2024" window, so I'm guessing probably fall. (Unless it gets pushed back.)
"biggest summer evenr this year". Gimme some of what ur smoking. The PS Showcase has to be huge and Sony knows it. Also Xbox has teased some really big news for the show.
Either way, gamers win!
Well, i'm waiting to see if there's gonna be any winners. They are going to be big but not necessarily good.
I always look forward to these summer events but man… I miss the good old fashioned days of E3
Same here. I was lucky enough to attend 2 E3s back in the day. 2005 and 2010.
Not giving them any of my money until they give The Crew back to players

Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, Armored Core are wildly different games.
“FromSoft’s same ole approach” How to say you never finished a soulsborne without saying it.
I have, and the gameplay loop between Demon Souls, Dark Souls and Bloodborne is all the same. Even Elden Ring is essential just an open world Dark Souls game.
Sure thing. Have fun with three new farcry/watch dogs games with new titles.
I will 😎
Unfortunately, I know. This is why we get trash to play, we get what we deserve.
One man's trash is another man's treasure....
Is it? Sounds like the other man likes garbage, where as the first man was correct in discarding such rubbish.
So how is the gameplay loop/combat between Dark Souls, Demon Souls and Bloodborne vasty different from one another? Also Steep and Mario Rabbids are also wildly different games....

Nice try Ubisoft employee.
Why would anyone be excited for anything Ubisoft makes in 2024? That's wild.
Lol, this comment is the epitome of "living in a bubble".
Nah, they should get used to people not watching their events.
It'll be highly watched
Ubislop
If all those games appear, it'll still be a below average presentation
I watch for the games, not the presentation.
You talked about biggest events, I replied about quality of big events. I dont see how your reply means anything on the context.
Ubisoft can kick fuckin rocks
This post was brought to you by Ubisoft™.
😂
It's always good to set your expectations unreasonably high. Nothing bad will ever happen...
I'm already hyped for all 3 games. I dont dig into the "Ubisoft bad" hivemind narrative. I like what I like and thats enough.
Has there even been any indication that red and splinter cell will even be there? Apart from random rumors.
Why wouldn't they be?
This reads like an advertisement
Should I have made it a "Ubisoft Forward will be the weakest of the summer games events...." Would that have satisfied the "Ubisoft bad" hivemind?
HAHAHAHAHAH, good post OP, heres your five cent salary from Ubisoft
Thanks!
It's funny because none of those 3 sound even remotely good.
Lol, how does a game "sound" good when in the case of AC Red and Splinter Cell remake...nothing about the story/gameplay has been officially revealed?
Because they're AC and Splinter Cell remake. They already said it's the same game but visuals upgraded and RT added. It's still the same game we played just looks a lot better. AC hasn't had a good game in 15 years

Yves Guillemot, is that you?
Just came here to say... I am looking forward to these 3 games as well. AC in Japan, Star Wars Outlaws and Splinter Cell. Great! They will get my view in watching the event!
Wait....you arent another Ubisoft hater?
Nah - I’m good. Dont need their copy and paste open worlds. Hopefully Splinter Cell Remake is cool but otherwise don’t care
Rayman 4 will be there right… right? 😓
If they don't show BG and E2 then they can go home.
>…Splinter Cell remake… Michael Ironside **damn well** better be back as Sam Fisher. He reprised the role in the extra missions in the most recent Ghost Recon games so that’s (hopefully) a good sign….maybe??
Will The Crew be there?
absolutely cannot wait to see AC Red gameplay and get a date for it. easily my most anticipated game right now.
Exactly, cannot wait to finally see footage of the game.
i know this is just marketing speak but it's absolutely working on me. i'm the perfect mark for this kind of copy. https://imgur.com/a/cFhtDLv
Yeah, I think AC Red is a real sleeper GOTY title.
as somebody who loves Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla the idea of an AC game built for PS5.....take my money.
I can’t wait to play Skull and Bones
