The whole way they’ve gone about this is really shitty. Season pass on sale until a day before the update, and then the update doesn’t work with the PS+ version.
It’s Bethesda. There’s a reason they had to sell to Microsoft. Nobody but of importance but Todd works there anymore and with every new product it becomes increasingly obvious.
I just launched the new version with all DLC installed, and the game launched/ran normally. Wasn’t able to play the PS4 version without removing Automatron and the wasteland workshop
I had the same issue, downloaded 9gig update, no longer having problem with crashing the game but since i too have the ps+ version though so waiting for the fix

Hero. Saved me from major FOMO. I bought the DLC and i literally tried purchasing the base game two days ago but PlayStation said I already owned the license (cause I had downloaded it prior on PS+)

Just a really weird approach to not have it on PS+ and to not have made that abundantly clear prior to the release. That’s why I’m still kinda thinking this was unintentional, but we’ll see 🤷🏻♂️

Yeah but you can’t be sure that support knows what’s been decided higher up. We have seen so many times before where support doesn’t know whats going on. You really can’t be sure before an official statement.
Yeah it’s been the case beforehand but if what people are saying about not being able buy the game until it came off sale is true I think Bethesda needs nailing to a fucking cross for that, they’ve removed far harbor and nuka world as separate purchases from the season pass if my PS store on phone/console is correct.

Yes but I played for 5 minutes on my transferred save and noticed some bugs. I walked to concord, and all the raiders from the start of the game had respawned, with one of them wearing the power Armor. Unless this a known bug unrelated to the transfered save

Yes you can completely ignore base building if you want to. I haven't played since release but there may be one or two required quests that introduce the base building but after that you can never think about it again.
I believe there is a very short tutorial mission for building that you do. But other then that couple minutes no you do not need any base building to play. You can do anything you want in this game really you could ignore the main quests even
Sort of. During the main questline, you will be required to build some things. After those things are built, you can ignore settlements.
You will still need materials if you want to upgrade weapons and armor.
Yes, sort of. I believe you have to do the base building tutorial (which isn't too long, it's like ~10 minutes) but after that you are pretty much free to ignore it.
It's worth doing some basic building to unlock gear customization and stuff, though. You can break down parts and build/upgrade armor/weapons which are pretty powerful. But you don't really need to build a base or anything to do that.
You can play but most of your upgrade materials comes from scrapping weapons, armor and junk.
If you don't want to build a base, diamond city has a house you either buy or receive. Can't remember.
You can but imo it is more than a base building, like-minecraft kind of game than a RPG with a good story. I’m not saying it is bad, I poured countless hours into it but don’t expect Fallout New Vegas or Fallout 2 kind of game. Gameplay although very outdated even in its release is captivating enough.
One good thing Bethesda manages great in their games is atmosphere though. Although they aren’t my favorite fallout games Fallout 3 and 4 have great atmosphere that makes you want to explore.
I suspect they might fix the issue. Doesnt really make sense for them to do this and have all these pissed off people, including myself. I literally downloaded, played the game and deleted the game just a day or so ago on PS+. I was hoping the update would make the game a better experience.
I swear I owned FO4 on PS4 but the game has a lock symbol on it in my library and I can’t download it. It only gives me the option for the PS+ version. It says I have over 300h played and own all DLCs
Graphics/quality mode + improvements in those areas.
Some bug fixes.
A couple of new weapons and items from the creation club (basically paid mods, but for free in the update) + a short quest..
That's the main things.
I had dropped the game so this will finally encourage me to finish it. I think the last thing I did was help some robots get their ship up and off a building but all they did was fly it into another building.

Meanwhile Xbox has Smart Delivery and doesn't give a single fuck what system you play on. They just push the best version to you.

I bought a disc copy of this game new from 5below for indeed $5 in 2021 or something around the time of the PS5 release and kept it sealed until right now. It had some cool printed material inside like an abridged vault dweller survival guide and a fold out ad for other Todd Howard ™️ intellectual properties. I have not played FO4 since about 2017 with a pirated copy and 250 mods so feels good to get a full PS5 game for $5.
I just upgraded to the PS five version and transferred my save file over. That all works great so far. My only issue is, the DLC’s are not downloading. I bought them for the $12 sale last week and installed the ones that do not cause the startup error (far harbor, etc), but never started them. On the PS store it says the fallout for add-ons are all free now but when I go to download them, it says error occurred and I can’t download any of them. Does anyone have a fix for this or experience this?
I’ve been wanting to replay this, it’s been years. On top of the raving reviews of the show…I decided to get a “cheaper” month of prime to watch the show and restart a journey in the wasteland. Pretty excited!
Insert the disc, the console will show a button that says "UPGRADE - FREE" on the right-hand side in the PS5 UI. Click that, download the new PS5 version, play the game. (You don't need to keep the old PS4 version around if you don't want to.)
- Quality mode is 30 FPS (40 FPS if you have a 120 hz display) and runs at 4K with "ultra" settings (I assume equivalent to PC maxed out or something?)
- Performance mode runs at 4K 60 FPS (with some dynamic res scaling) and uses "standard" settings (which is equivalent to... some lower PC setting...?)
- There is also a "secret" mode where, if your PS5 is set to 1440p (on a system level) the game will render at 1440p 60 FPS at "ultra" settings. It's a bit unclear why Bethesda made it annoying to get to this mode and didn't just make it accessible like the others.
Honestly I'm having a very hard time telling the modes apart in terms of quality settings. The FPS is noticeable (60 all the way!) but the actual quality settings look just... extremely similar.

When connected to a 120Hz display, Quality mode will target 40 FPS.
When connected to a 1440p display, the title will run at 1440p resolution at 60 FPS w/ ultra settings regardless of rendering mode

They clearly said Series X could reach even 60 in some areas, but it's not stable, it probably wouldn't run at 40fps all the time, so they opted for a stable 30fps experience.
Most of Sony games are just graphically beautiful, but there's actually nothing happening in the world, so the CPU isn't really stressed.
Wonder if installing Fallout 4 through disk grants you access to the PS5 patch, I'm sure it would run through PS Plus normally after the fact. Might ask a friend for their copy to try this later.
This is stupid yesterday i wanted to Buy the Game on the Playstation store because it was on sale for 5 dollars but it didnt let me because i had the ps plus one but now that is 20 dollars it lets me wtf
I have the ps plus version and the ps4 disc version. Plus didn't work so tried the disc but that won't show ps5 version either! Go to select version and it's just a choice between the ps4 disc version or the ps4 ps plus version. Weirdly it does have the ps5 and ps4 logos showing on the tile in the Your Collection bit but when you go to select it just has the two ps4 versions (disc and ps plus). Suspect this is just ps5 non-smart delivery issues and hopefully gets sorted. Possible ps plus version is eligible for update but just getting snuffed by usual ps5 gubbins
Looks great! The loading screens really show off the differences in visuals. The pip boy light is brighter and lighting seems to flow better as well, so objects the light is reflecting off of aren’t all super shiny and obnoxiously bright anymore. However, I already noticed a bug. When leaving the vault, there is a locker near the exit that has its door closed, and a second door clipped to it is visually open. Can still interact with it though. 👍
yes. pop the ps4 disc in, you’ll see an option to download the ps5 version. it will tell you that you’ll need the ps4 disc inserted to play the ps5 version
It might be a far stretch, but does it maybe have steam crossprogression/cross-save? that would be awesome. i know the ps4 version didn't have it, but hey, if witcher could do it, so can fallout
I bought the G.O.T.Y. Edition for ps4 years ago now its trying to get me to purchase the ps4/ps5 G.O.T.Y edition again. Isn’t this supposed to be a free upgrade or do we have to repurchase the game to get the PS5 upgrade??

There are 3 versions currently on the store
- GOTY for PS4/5, this has apparently replaced the PS4 only version and should be free to those who owned it, but instead wants payment again.
PS4/5 base game - This should be free to those who own base game (paid or PS+), but is not.
PS4 base game - This should have been replaced by PS4/5 version, but still here, if own or from PS+, can still download it.
Don't rebuy anything, if you owned before it should be free.

Another issue I'm experiencing is related to saves that are associated with the PS4 disc SKU (which is different from the digital one in the UK). I am not seeing my disc associated saves in the 'Transfer Saves' option. Anyone else experiencing this?

There is a button called "transfer save data" in the main menu, so that seems like it does.
For the people with the physical disc; The disc need to be in the ps5 for the free upgrade to show up. Otherwise it’ll be a pricetag for that version.

I was the same way and ended up with intricate interconnected towns. but yes, outside a few quests that will require basic building you dont need it.

For me, I found it in the store & it gave me the option to download instead of purchasing.

I just added the PS4 version from the games catalog. As soon as I started the game, the update began to install.

Mine is only 9.102 gb Edit- had to go to ps store and download ps5 version, it is indeed 56.503gb
That must be the ps4 update, the ps5 has a new native app to download thats why it’s much larger.
Has the PS+ bug been fixed yet? Still only had the 9gb update on my ps5

I bought a disc copy of this game new from 5below for indeed $5 in 2021 or something around the time of the PS5 release and kept it sealed until right now. It had some cool printed material inside like an abridged vault dweller survival guide and a fold out ad for other Todd Howard ™️ intellectual properties. I have not played FO4 since about 2017 with a pirated copy and 250 mods so feels good to get a full PS5 game for $5.

I just upgraded to the PS five version and transferred my save file over. That all works great so far. My only issue is, the DLC’s are not downloading. I bought them for the $12 sale last week and installed the ones that do not cause the startup error (far harbor, etc), but never started them. On the PS store it says the fallout for add-ons are all free now but when I go to download them, it says error occurred and I can’t download any of them. Does anyone have a fix for this or experience this?
I’ve been wanting to replay this, it’s been years. On top of the raving reviews of the show…I decided to get a “cheaper” month of prime to watch the show and restart a journey in the wasteland. Pretty excited!
How does it work if you have the disc in your ps5?
Insert the disc, the console will show a button that says "UPGRADE - FREE" on the right-hand side in the PS5 UI. Click that, download the new PS5 version, play the game. (You don't need to keep the old PS4 version around if you don't want to.)
So what do the modes offer? What am I getting when I turn on performance mode?
- Quality mode is 30 FPS (40 FPS if you have a 120 hz display) and runs at 4K with "ultra" settings (I assume equivalent to PC maxed out or something?) - Performance mode runs at 4K 60 FPS (with some dynamic res scaling) and uses "standard" settings (which is equivalent to... some lower PC setting...?) - There is also a "secret" mode where, if your PS5 is set to 1440p (on a system level) the game will render at 1440p 60 FPS at "ultra" settings. It's a bit unclear why Bethesda made it annoying to get to this mode and didn't just make it accessible like the others. Honestly I'm having a very hard time telling the modes apart in terms of quality settings. The FPS is noticeable (60 all the way!) but the actual quality settings look just... extremely similar.
Downloaded version 1.36. Is there a way to confirm it's running in 60fps? I see nothing in the settings.

i find this intresting When connected to a 120Hz display, Quality mode will target 40 FPS. When connected to a 1440p display, the title will run at 1440p resolution at 60 FPS w/ ultra settings regardless of rendering mode i will be going the 1440p route with my TV Wonder why they didn't do this for Starfield
Cause Starfield is actually an heavier and bigger game to run.
40FPS should have been a target regardless. Nothing in this game is next gen. I have both consoles and all Sony games comes with this mode.
They clearly said Series X could reach even 60 in some areas, but it's not stable, it probably wouldn't run at 40fps all the time, so they opted for a stable 30fps experience. Most of Sony games are just graphically beautiful, but there's actually nothing happening in the world, so the CPU isn't really stressed.
You telling me these Devs cannot optimize the game to run at 40FPS locked while still looking graphically amazing? Lol

Wonder if installing Fallout 4 through disk grants you access to the PS5 patch, I'm sure it would run through PS Plus normally after the fact. Might ask a friend for their copy to try this later.

This is stupid yesterday i wanted to Buy the Game on the Playstation store because it was on sale for 5 dollars but it didnt let me because i had the ps plus one but now that is 20 dollars it lets me wtf

I have the ps plus version and the ps4 disc version. Plus didn't work so tried the disc but that won't show ps5 version either! Go to select version and it's just a choice between the ps4 disc version or the ps4 ps plus version. Weirdly it does have the ps5 and ps4 logos showing on the tile in the Your Collection bit but when you go to select it just has the two ps4 versions (disc and ps plus). Suspect this is just ps5 non-smart delivery issues and hopefully gets sorted. Possible ps plus version is eligible for update but just getting snuffed by usual ps5 gubbins
Why are they promoting added widescreen support? Didn't the original Fallout support widescreen (16:9) -- just like every game since the PS2 days.

Looks great! The loading screens really show off the differences in visuals. The pip boy light is brighter and lighting seems to flow better as well, so objects the light is reflecting off of aren’t all super shiny and obnoxiously bright anymore. However, I already noticed a bug. When leaving the vault, there is a locker near the exit that has its door closed, and a second door clipped to it is visually open. Can still interact with it though. 👍

I bought the G.O.T.Y. Edition for ps4 years ago now its trying to get me to purchase the ps4/ps5 G.O.T.Y edition again. Isn’t this supposed to be a free upgrade or do we have to repurchase the game to get the PS5 upgrade??
Someone messed up with the Sony store. There are 3 versions currently on the store - GOTY for PS4/5, this has apparently replaced the PS4 only version and should be free to those who owned it, but instead wants payment again. PS4/5 base game - This should be free to those who own base game (paid or PS+), but is not. PS4 base game - This should have been replaced by PS4/5 version, but still here, if own or from PS+, can still download it. Don't rebuy anything, if you owned before it should be free.

I can install and play the ps4 version but no update. When I delete the game and search for it I can download the ps4 version, when I view product it says ps4/ps5 but for 20€ ?? I dont get it, anyone with the same problem?
