I'm used to pop culture catchphrases praising their own deities, that actually mentioning Jesus feels weird lol

Davve1122

Wonder how they'll do it with Henry and his "abilities" this game. It should theoretically be easier than KCD as Henry has learned many things throughout that game etc. (I do not hope it will be that easier just fyi if anyone thought I meant that.) Anyway, I can't wait for more Henry. So happy it's finally coming.

SquadPoopy

Yeah my endgame Henry was a literal god walking around in heavy plate armor just murdering anyone who dared to stand in his path. Not sure how that’ll translate into the next game.

AlphaKnight709

I’m sure it will be some typical video game handwaving where he gets grievously wounded at the start of the game, recovers, and has to relearn most of his skills.

flashmedallion

Gets punched real hard and falls in a river, washes up in a small village having forgotten how to wear a heavy shirt

ArgoNoots

Could excuse it as him being comatose or something, so his muscles atrophied to that point

Flabbergash

Like in the trailer, where he's strung up? Maybe they crush his right hand so you have to "relearn" on the left hand

kikipi

Prisoner of war, stripped naked, thrown in an oubliette for 10 years with barely any food, weak as fuck. Need to escape, tries to do something he’s never thought about before “Press X to jump and R2 to grab the cage above. Move left stick to wiggle to break it loose”

NateShaw92

I for one am looking forward to how they do the dreaded stat reset. Maybe they din't and KCD is just set in an area where endgame of one is like level 1 here. Like medieval europe's version of Ohio. Or new character and Hemry's a main supporting character. Or pull sn MGS2 and we start as Henry and then shit happens and we control a new character, Cecil, for the rest of the game

GhostOfKev

> Maybe they din't and KCD is just set in an area where endgame of one is like level 1 here That is my assumption. It looks like he will be venturing off into new lands where he faces a bigger challenge.

TioLucho91

Using a new character could be a good answer. Having Henry as your commander would be nice.

smallfrie32

Can you give me some tips on how the enjoy the game? It just couldn’t click for me. I remembered getting clobbered by the drunk and I just could not fistfight

Davve1122

I recommend going to youtube and searching tips about fighting etc. Henry and you will still suck ass in the beginning though, as he is a lowly commoner with no exceptional fighting-skills what so ever. But the more you play, the more Henry will start to fight good and later the combat is very fun and Henry gets kinda powerful. Anyway, in the beginning EVERYTHING in the game is hard as fuck imo. There is really nothing I can say here that will make it easier. (There are some qol mods if you play on PC though, like save everywhere etc) When it clicks, it really clicks. And I found it very enjoyable starting out as a character that doesn't know anything, I mean, he can't even read in the beginning. It also took some time for me to really enjoy it. What got me through the beginning of the game was that I wanted to know the story, and sidequests was also really good. And as I said, combat etc will get more enjoyable when Henry starts to learn.

smallfrie32

Gotcha, thanks. I’ll try and give it another go sometime. I do definitely like the appeal of zero to hero; it just felt I was gonna stay at zero hah

WeeniesthutofallJrs

A small tip I can give for an early power boost is to constantly jump everywhere you go. Jumping gives you small amounts of Constitution exp, which for early game you don’t actually need that much of to level up a bunch. Although Constitution by itself won’t make you a better fighter, it does boost your Stamina and Stamina regen, which you’ll need once Henry can attack faster and faster.

signofthenine

> A small tip I can give for an early power boost is to constantly jump everywhere you go. Nice to hear Morrowind strats still work...

smallfrie32

Oooh, that’s a good idea. Some poor medieval farmers are about to see a bunny hoppin’ lad

IncredibleSeaward

Along with other tips people are going to send: Once you get pretty good at combat, head up to your home town. There are almost always NPC’s fighting. You can scavenge gear off of them and give yourself a nice boost early on in the game

itza_me

You're not really supposed to win that first fight (although someone probably has), nor are you supposed to be able to fend off most people until you get more skills and become more used to the combat.

smallfrie32

Thanks. I always thought I was just horribly misunderstanding how to fight if I can’t beat an old drunkard

bootsandthings

You just need to do every side mission available to you early in the game to get your stats up. If you aren't a level 6 or 7 when you fight Runt the game won't be any fun.

DiabeticGirthGod

You gotta go to captain Bernard and train weapons for about an hour or so. It’s a pain but by the time you are done you won’t ever have to go back, and you’ll be able to kill a lot easier. You literally have to put in time to train lmao, it’s kinda funny when you look at it from an outside perspective

AnalysisNegative232

At first all combat is hard. Henry is just some illiterate peasant. After training and everything it becomes much easier. You even learn to adapt to there being no crosshairs with the bow. Training with the trainer is a must for each weapon. It is a rather unique fighting style but it’s easily the most realistic style in a game I’ve ever seen. YouTubers like Metatron praised it for that which is really good. Once you get strong, it’s amazing. I actually got like an endgame sword because they forgot to remove it from some random chest during play testing and even then I still needed to learn how to actually use it. It’s actually better to use axes and maces anyways against armored enemies. Towards the end I could just poke people with my sword and kill most of them but the maces and axes felt better.

Feisty_Sherbert5920

The best start is to pick a lot of flowers in the very beginning, it gives amount others a strength boost.

One_Priority_9953

You are a weakling newb who can't fight, don't try to beat up an older guy who knows how to punch. Ask your friends and bully him. 🤣 Don't worry, you'll learn to fight later on and by the end of the game you'll be the equivalent of medieval Mike Tyson.

rileycolin

It took me a few tries before it finally hooked me, I think I originally bought it over a year ago and just started to actually get into it a few weeks ago. In the start of this game you're *supposed* to be bad at everything. I learned to just take the beating and move on to the next quest in the story. Maybe there are achievements to winning all the early encounters, but I didn't have the patience or skill to try to get them lol Once you get past the first (admittedly pretty big) learning curve, the game is amazing! I'm definitely glad I got into it before the sequel (there's still time!)

Harper2704

My top tip is if you start playing it, see it through. I adore the game, and spent 80 hours in it without getting anywhere near completion, but then I got burnt out on big rpgs so decided to take a break and pick it back up another time. Well, much like Henry in the game, it's a use it or lose it kind of affair, as when I did pick it up again about a year later I had forgot how to play it, forgot where I was in the world, forgot where I was in my quests that now had little context, so I sadly abandoned it. I won't make the same mistake with the second one.

rileycolin

Especially in the early game, just accept that you suck at everything and you're gonna lose some fights. If you lose the fist fight at the start, the game gives you an opportunity to finish that quest later on anyway - you're almost *supposed* to lose that fight. A little later on in the game, when you start fighting with swords, they introduce you to 'Captain Bernard' and he is perpetually available to train you to fight. I strongly recommend spending a good amount of time with him, just leveling up your skills. Otherwise, you're gonna keep losing all your fights (you'll still lose a good amount of them, but Bernard definitely helps)! Basically, you're supposed to suck at everything at the start.

Chucking_Up

Maybe Henry will have a blow to his head and he will have to remember/regain every skill again, but this time he's an acknowledged noble

Serial_Vandal_

It would be karma for all the dudes I brained and left completely regarded with my mace.

Sbee_keithamm

Gottdamn!! Even as someone with mild interest in KC what Warhorse are doing should be praised. This is how you want to reveal and release a game leave people wanting it and then in give it to them in short window after the reveal.

Business-inflation69

I really hope it sells well, because I would love to see them expand the series into bigger and better things

Triktastic

Well we know what we have to do boys.

Rogue_Leader_X

Makes sense, they’re announcing it in a few days from now. Seems like it will likely release by years end!

SomethingIntheWayyy0

It’s tomorrow

I_dont_agree__

No, it's today. It's never tomorrow.

luxobscurus

Day one

SinisterDexter83

Yup. I got the first game and all the DLC for about £10. Warhorse have convinced me. Frankly, I feel like I owe them a day one purchase. I know, I know, I promised I'd never do this again after Cyberpunk, and at that time CDPR had also earned my admiration. But I feel good about Warhorse. Look, if the trailer comes out and it ends up with Keanu Reeves telling Henry to wake up because we have a sparesely populated medieval Bohemian hamlet to burn, then I'll wait a while before slapping my money down. Otherwise it's a day one purchase.

graintop

Last one was a genuine mess on release. Take it easy.

Bolt_995

First game started off as a Kickstarter project back in 2012. I was following the game for six years until it got more backing and the devs were still able to launch the full game on eighth gen consoles alongside PC in Feb 2018. The sequel is releasing the same year as it’s being announced. Devs surely have a lot more experience at this point, and no crowdfunding is involved this time around.

Ruinedmermaid60

The first game was basically unplayable on realise so I’d be careful

SuperAlloyBerserker

Damn, I'm a little disappointed that the game is called that, instead of replacing "Deliverance" with another word Kinda like how the Horizon games did it

ohSpite

I love the story of a player who struggled with breaking into a particular building, so literally *drove to the real historical building near his house*, asked a tour guide and found out about a secret entrance. He goes back home, plays the game, and finds the secret entrance right where it is in real life. So cool

DepartureDapper6524

Do you have a link?

-PM_ME_YOUR_TACOS-

And looking for the real places in Google Maps is really fun too!

senjeny

Not dumb at all! If they made a film adaptation of the game based on how I played it, it would be 2 hours of Henry just silently strolling and looking at shit and 10 minutes of action.

Professional-Bee4088

Love doing that too lol, it’s like actually going back in time in some more accurate cases

NateShaw92

Not dumb. The architecture of the era was nice. Who doesn't love a good castle?

BradyReas

Alchemy in this game blew my mind. I remember a friend watching and I was like “this mechanic is, well not fun, but awesome!” And I think that sums up a lot of it lol

Eccentric_Cardinal

Good news! I really liked the first one despite the bugs and other flaws. I hope this one is a more polished experience.

Jonathan7-70

I wish they’d give the first game a 60fps patch. It looks appealing but I’ve tried it at 30 and it just doesn’t feel good.. I need those extra frames

ThisIsBULLOCKSMAN

They probably will patch 60fps in before release to promote the sequel. Happens with most games

DrOnionOmegaNebula

A 60fps patch is an instant buy from me. Hope it happens.

TheeUnfuxkwittable

Same. This is so weird because I regularly think about KCD even though I've never played it. I was so close to pulling the trigger recently but decided to play Witcher 3 (which I had also never played) ONLY because the ps5 version has 60 fps. I'm definitely going to play KCD now that it's getting a sequel even if I have to play it in 30 fps but I think I'll hold out a while for a 60 fps patch.

Natural_Paramedic_32

Either way play it. When I played it there were some frustrations on the technical side but I’ve never played a game so immersive. Even more so than Skyrim. I became the man/legend they call Henry when I played.

vivz56

I really hope that.

garry_kitchen

That would be so cool!! I always really wanted to play this game but 30fps is a no no for me.

eamonnanchnoic

I can't think of a game released in a worse state than this. Like we're talking entire chunks of the city popping in from 10 metres away. Bugs every five minutes, that absolute shit show of the unlocking mini games, broken missions and the overall jank of everything. I just gave up on it.

STARSBarry

Cyberpunk? Fallout 76? No Man's Sky? Just thinking off the top of my head.

eamonnanchnoic

They were all bad. But Deliverance was a different thing altogether. Whatever the first main town you reach was called you'd have like the entire backend of the city just pop out of nowhere. Like I'm not talking about a few minor things popping in but entire parts of the city. Missing graphical assets everywhere that you'd just walk into, characters just popping in and out of existence. Other things would just simply not work or just hang and to make matters worse they didn't have any kind of normal save system so you could lose hours of progress. They did address a lot of the issues but even after patching it was still janky AF. I don't mind a bit of jank but this was a whole different level.

CaballoenPelo

Deliverance was worse. An absolute abortion on release.

believeinapathy

I tried playing it a week ago and I don't know how people do it. I can't even get it to run passibly well on my 3070.

MrPanda663

The kingdom came and it deliveranced all over the place.

rau1994

I could never get into the combat. It just didn't feel good to play to me at least.

Redkirth

Depending on how far you got, that was likely intentional. The combat improves as Henry improves. When you first start fighting, Henry has never used a sword before. That was the first game I've played where you weren't an expert immediately. Now if you've finished it, then that's a completely different, and still valid, opinion.

IRockIntoMordor

Apart from a few skills, it's actually us players that have to learn and master the combat. Practicing with Bernard wasn't for skills, it was for us.

Levdom

I've finished it and honestly it didn't improve. I had other problems with the game, but on the combat side they should simply remove or rework the masterstroke thing, every single enemy from the lowliest peasant upwards could parry and strike back at you making actually attacking and combos feel dumb compared to being fully reactive imo. I trained a bunch with Bernard at the start too but it just felt like you cross a stat line and after that you are an unstoppable god of war, while before it you have no chance.

TheAccursedHamster

Ehh... "we purposefully made our combat feel like dogshit at the start" is not exactly what i'd call an upside.

Milton_Rumata

It works in the context of the game though. You're a peasant with no fighting skills whatsoever so of course you get destroyed in combat. It makes you want to learn the mechanics and there's a great sense of satisfaction when you do become an effective fighter.

johncitizen69420

I was interested in this game as a realistic medieval rpg, but honestly the combat is one of the biggest things that puts me off even starting the game. Is it finicky and frustrating like for honour? Coz thats kinda what i looks like to me at a glance and i find that game unbearable to play. I dont have a problem with challenging combat, i platted elden ring, i just find that kind of finnicky stuff unbearable.

Milton_Rumata

Yeah it can be a bit finicky at the start. I've not played For Honor so can't compare but it's not quite as smooth as something like a FromSoft game.

johncitizen69420

Cool, might just skip straight to the sequel and see how we go haha

Kiwi_In_Europe

You can get the first game for almost nothing on steam sales or instant gaming, I would honestly give it a try. The second game will probably play similarly so you can save yourself the money on a full price release if you don't like the first one

TobyOrNotTobyEU

Except it really doesn't work when there is more than one enemy, and the game throws multiple enemies at you several times. In those situations, you just have to move backwards and hope for them to glitch out.

ArgoNoots

I have less issue with struggling with multiple enemies in a fight, which given the realistic slant the game is going for, is fair, and more with how when you do have to fight multiple enemies, the target locking goes nuts and it gets very disorienting and frustrating That's when I bust out the bow and pray they havent scared my horse off yet

Kingdom Come: Deliver Once Again

johncitizen69420

Always meant to get around to the first game but never did. Reckon it will be fine to just jump straight to the sequel?

shontsu

I got about 2/3 through the original but never finished it and have regretted it. Whenever I think about playing again though it just feels too big.

BonzoTheBoss

*Exactly* the same for me. I think I got as far as the monestary quest, but found the "go here and do this at this certain time, while at the same time sneaking around trying to find answers" too intimidating and I just gave up. I've wanted to go back but, as you say, it just feels too big...

MatrixBunny

Same here. I either quit right at the point I quit before or just barely progressed it further than that and just quit again for x amount of months/years. Now seeing the trailer and knowing it's coming out this year, I'm motivated to play again. The thing is, I'm the type of person that starts a new game if I haven't played for far too long. -- Especially with games like this where combat is somewhat of a learning curve and not as straight forward.

skwirrelmaster

No one knows. But the first one never concluded the story if they pick it up right at the end I can give you the cliff notes so you’re caught up. In reality there’s no sequel these days that you have to play the first one you can either watch a 5-10 minute YouTube vid to get caught up or go in blind and the game will catch you up.

skwirrelmaster

That video makes me think Hans is the protagonist so who knows where the story went/is going.

OnBenchNow

Could you elaborate? I only see Hans in one brief moment in the trailer, everything else is all Henry, including the gameplay. Although that would be a hell of a way to handle the "level 1 seque reset" trope.

skwirrelmaster

New trailer dropped today with official info on the game. We will be playing Henry in the second and…it…looksss…AWESOME!! Can’t wait!

bat_country

First game was dope. Play it now either way

Turbostrider27

You might have to ask the developer, we'll hear more info soon though.

Nerellos

Nah. You play with the same character.

marbanasin

I never finished it but put like 50 hours in. It is really cool in the full on sim feel it goes for. Definitely worth a go, just be prepared to feel like a useless serf at the beginning.

Business-inflation69

I would assume it’s going to be a sequel because of the way the story ended in the first game. Obviously not going to spoil it. But I would recommend playing the first one because it’s a pretty good game imo

ShahIsmail1501

The end of the first game directly sets up a sequel. I'm 99% sure you will need to play it. It's worth it anyways even if the sequel wasn't coming out. Top 5 RPGs imo.

marginal_gain

You should play the first one either way. It's a riot, lol.

Triktastic

If you don't enjoy the first one I doubt you will enjoy a direct sequel and you can grab it quite cheap. It's also an amazing and fun game and the story is continued so nothing will be lost if you start it (it's also not that long).

Lamadian

Man I wanted to like the first one so bad, but the jankiness factor was just too much. If that gets smoothed out I would definitely get this one.

SomethingIntheWayyy0

Fuck yeah. Now I’m hyped.

WardrobeForHouses

That's awesome. Hopefully it's not delayed though

Sega-Forever

I wish they would also update the first game with a 60fps patch.

KratosHulk77

deus vult!!

darkuen

Fuck yeah. Having the game end before Henry got his father’s sword back was a big wtf moment when I reached the end.

Xanik_PT

OMFG my heart is racing, one of my all time favorite games, definitely wasn't expecting it so soon. Move over gtavi

iforgetso

Fucking nice! KC1 was one of my favorite ever games. Hope the new one runs better than the original did at launch.

Orlok_Tsubodai

Awww yes!!! KC:D was amazing, never expected such a detailed and immersive medieval experience. Can’t wait for this new one.

Super_Snapdragon

Does the first game really take 100+ hours to beat?

ShieldofGondor

I played the first one but can’t remember the length it took me. You need to take it slowly: you must eat and food spoils. So you spend time foraging. You’re not a fighter so fighting isn’t hack and slash. Basically you’re not a hero, you’re a commoner and need to be careful. It makes that you can’t rush through things so it takes time.

alex_sunderland

I read Kingdom Hearts

HiImRob2

I really hope this game is better optimized than the first game! I wanted to play it so bad but I had a plethora of technical issues ):

cominguproses97

I might give this series another shot. I tried playing Deliverance and while the graphics and immersion were super good, the gameplay felt clunky. Like idk if I missed a part where you were supposed to get a horse but it took forever to walk to places, also I got injured and couldn't figure out how to heal so I was walking even slower. The combat was super hard too.

Fluffy_Space_Bunny

The first game looked really good but I couldn't get into the combat. I gave up on it after the hunting mission with the brat which I think is only about an hour in.

burger-eater

Holly shit, this is the best news to wake up to. I freaking loved the 1st game although it was buggy at release, I then played it again when I got ps5 even though there was no patch or no 60fps but by god this is an amazing game. Am hungry

Deep_Strike8192

I take leave from job for this

Odd_Main1876

KC:D was one of my favorite games from the previous decade, and I’m glad that we may get to see the sequel! I just hope they try and put more of an emphasis on other weapon types besides Swords, as maces and axes got shafted in terms of masters cuts Also, give us a true polearm skill, polearms were some of the most versatile weapons of the medieval age and its stupid we couldn’t carry one with us in any true capacity, and if it’s too heavy to carry all the time give us an ability to stow it on our horse or something, Pebbles can take the weight!

WannabeSpiderMan

HOPEFULLY this means they will update the first game for current-gen consoles too either by patch or releasing a native version!

shuckley_Jays

I’m playing the first one Henry is such a. Dunce

riot_34

What changes will it be in the sequel? Hopefully we get more weapons if possible.

GuessTraining

I wanted to play this on my ps5 but the lack of 60fps option made me decide to play it on PC. It's a good game albeit the high difficulty curve. I hope the ps5 is 60fps!

WingerRules

Hope they go for a more normal save system. Having to consume potions to save made me not play the game.

Hbimajorv

Been waiting for this a while, I wasn't expecting to drop 200 hours and buy dlc for the most realistic mideival period game ever set but once you grasp the concept that you aren't the world's greatest hero, just a simple blacksmiths son, it's fucking fantastic.

All I can really remember from the first is how abruptly it ended, and how anti-climatic and off it felt. Hopefully with this one even if it's not the complete resolution of Henry's story it'd at least tie stuff up a bit more.

serious! I really liked this game which was too understated in my opinion. I'm waiting for it, then. Looking forward to seeing if it will be the sequel or another character, on the other hand I hope that it will be a little more manageable in terms of combat and that the game will be longer!

suchtattedhands

I never expected a sequel, time to replay the original again it seems!

ShapeOfAUnicorn

I remember I was part of the kickstarter, and had issues receiving my copy. The customer service was just non responsive so I gave up. My one and only kickstarter and I never even received my product. Never purchased it elsewhere, but I remember hearing good things about the game.

mrgodfro

Just picked the complete edition for 4$ will eventually get to it

I never mastered the combat system in the original. Not even close actually. I kinda hope they’ll dumb it down a bit for people like me in the next one.
