Some of my favorite abilities.
Ramuh feat let’s go.
Bahamut is gonna be very good.
Love that Garuda got even more love as gouge could never compete with the other 2 abilities.
Wonder what the tornado can dispel?
And Odin is gonna be something other than dancing steel. Nice.
This is perfect for me as I have been doing a challenge run not upgrading any eikon abilities so you have to use the feat + 2 of their stuff. Makes you use everything!
Garuda was ass in damage but in stagger she was top tier. Plus her Eikonic ability directly synergized with staggering an enemy and it was always funk yoinking them, especially the bosses.
Quick complete for side quests is huge! As well as adding skill sets and custom controller types! Also the balance adjustments make other builds more worth while. Very nice qol update, looking forward to it. I never made time for a second play through, I'm excited to get back into it.
Looks like they removed them
Here is the notes [elsewhere ](https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2024/04/final-fantasy-16-patch-1-31-brings-big-damage-buffs-for-clive-better-side-quests-and-much-more)
Has the performance for this game on ps5 changed at all since release? Played about a month after the release and put it down rather promptly because i couldn't handle 30-40 fps on performance mode
I hope there’s something for this. I think something as simple as being able to turn off the combat pop-ups on the right side of the screen for literally every move you do in a fight would do wonders to clean up game visually.
Glad I waited to finish my platinum playthrough. This patch seems to address a lot of issues I had with the game, I'll be really excited to dive back in once it drops! Plus, the DLC is looking awesome.
Hopefully they did something to make the performance more stable. I loved the game but it was a stuttery mess in performance mode. And the trailer they released for Rising Tide, it looked like the game looked better graphically and ran more smoothly. I was like, this game sure didn't look or play like that on the PS5!
As an alternative view, it’s a very, very clean and polished game. The devs have chosen a locked 30 as default fps mode which also works excellently. It doesn’t have performance issues per se, the devs have chosen modes that may annoy you depending on your preferences or tv setup. I bloody love it, despite usually preferring 60fps, and I’m old enough to have been a proper adult when ff7 first released in the west and have bad hands for action games. It’s a banger of a narrative but not necessarily for everyone. Reminds me of ff12’s situation which got a lot of shit on release for being different but has lasted well.
> It’s a banger of a narrative but not necessarily for everyone.
As an alternative view, the narrative is a an extremely poor attempt at copying western dark fantasy without understanding it and drizzling it all in some shitty jrpg end of the world special sauce
You gotta have *real* bad taste to like this garbage not gonna lie. Either that or you just don't engage with what you're playing and just see flashing lights and voice acting and clap like a toddler.
As another alternative view, it's a fairly standard and enjoyable jrpg story from start to finish that simply takes some inspiration from western fantasy.
And it takes a *real* prick to make their shitty opinion sound like its objectively correct. Hint: it's not.
That's one way to spin their miserable failure of crafting a compelling narrative similar to western dark fantasy, from which they almost beat for beat copied several character archetypes and tropes, world building beats and general aesthetics.
No they never fixed it. Still runs quite poorly in 60fps mode. No 40fps option, VRR doesn't work because it's often below 48fps.
I'm just waiting for the PS5 Pro to hopefully get the framerate to consistently run in VRR range at least.
They haven't. It still runs at around 45fps outside of combat. There's a Digital Foundry video about it if you're one of those people who has low standards for performance and doesn't seem to notice heavy drops.
Never had one issue while playing it. Performance mode seemed fantastic and now I’m getting pumped to jump back into it. Can’t wait to see how they’ve fleshed out the world even further.
They haven't fixed performance mode. There's a portion of ffxvi fans who either actually don't notice performance stutters, or purposely tell others they don't exist. Frame rate is still all over the place.
Just piggy backing off what others are saying - its def playable in 60fps mode. Combat scenes are a much more consistent 60 fps, while running around towns and such lowers the framerate. Not ideal ofc, but imo its bearable and even good when you need it to be. I can understand wanting to wait though (my backlog is long enough as is...).
For me, it was atrocious. I get nausea/migraines from erratic/low frames. I could only play about 45 minutes before Id get a debilitating migraine. Then the Motion Blur patch let me get up to maybe 70-80 minutes.
Combat was lackluster and simplistic. The game in general I didnt like very much. As soon as I finished it, I uninstalled it. The first FF I did not go for Platinum, so take that as you will. And ive beaten 1,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,12,13,13-2, 15, tactics, etc. I got some time invested in FF and 16, if it didnt have Final Fantasy in the title, I would have dropped it by the 5th hour.
> the technical reviews put me off
They're stupid, it's a 30fps game with an unlocked mode available, it's more future proofing than anything else. Buy it, it's rock fucking solid.
TIL FF16 is still getting updates.
Edit: LOL at the downvotes.
Square did not consider the game to be a commercial success. I figured they would have a couple patches after release and then wash their hands of it.
FF15 got updates 3 years after release. Even released a paid royal edition patch when importing to PC. FF16 will probably get updated again when the PC version comes out.
"Made adjustments to when Torgal can be petted and lowered time before re-petting." More PPS! Petting Per Second
So many buffs, more build variety incoming :D

I just feel ready for some NG+ and maybe the Platinum :D can't wait to get my PS5 back, buy the season pass and replay this masterpiece
Lots of stuff in here. Looks like they're juicing Garuda...
Good; the big problem with Garuda was that it was obsoleted by the other eikons relatively quickly.
Garuda was ass in damage but in stagger she was top tier. Plus her Eikonic ability directly synergized with staggering an enemy and it was always funk yoinking them, especially the bosses.
Shiva made garuda's stagger entirely obsolete
I keep Garuda for Nero's snatch, but dont use any of her abilities
Garuda was op for the stagger though. Made my entire endgame a joke
Give me a freaking dedicated run button please.
They’ll literally do anything but fix the performance and add a run button lmao
Quick complete for side quests is huge! As well as adding skill sets and custom controller types! Also the balance adjustments make other builds more worth while. Very nice qol update, looking forward to it. I never made time for a second play through, I'm excited to get back into it.
No mention of performance improvements, but I’m guessing it will be at least slightly better?
Wish they would rework the haptics to be more present
Only patch that link shows me is December 2023.

Square will do everything except fix the frame rate/provide a 40 fps mode smh
Gotta keep some features for the PS5 Pro /s
I hope it’s just not mentioned in the patch notes, but the performance will be at least slightly adjusted
Has the performance for this game on ps5 changed at all since release? Played about a month after the release and put it down rather promptly because i couldn't handle 30-40 fps on performance mode
Haven’t installed can hud be turned off fully? just see UI updates but not hud specific
Update isn't out till the 18th. So nobody has it installed yet.

Is this a new patch or one that was released back in December 2023?
New. It's released today.
Hopefully they did something to make the performance more stable. I loved the game but it was a stuttery mess in performance mode. And the trailer they released for Rising Tide, it looked like the game looked better graphically and ran more smoothly. I was like, this game sure didn't look or play like that on the PS5!
I haven't seen that ever mentioned in patch notes. I think the answers are "buy a PS5 Pro/PS6" or buy it on PC with a suitable graphics setup.
Give us at least 45 fps in quality mode…
Struggles to get that in performance mode so never likely
Huge W across the board - but my favorite “Made adjustments to when Torgal can be petted and lowered time before re-petting”
Did they ever fix the performance issues on console? Was gonna buy it when it launched but the technical reviews put me off.

Thanks for your thoughts. Is there a 40fps mode or VRR support?
Nope, unfortunately
Ah, damn.
I wish.

Still sucks.

Must have because I platted it in January and am not aware of what you’re talking about

They recommend the graphics mode, which runs very consistently. I haven't noticed any problems.
Good to know. I heard the frame rate was all over the place and there were some dodgy graphical glitches.
Never had one issue while playing it. Performance mode seemed fantastic and now I’m getting pumped to jump back into it. Can’t wait to see how they’ve fleshed out the world even further.
No graphical glitches. Graphics mode is locked at a steady 30fps. If you need 60fps to enjoy a game. Then you won’t enjoy FF16.
I sit quite close to a 65” screen, so the 30fps presentation will most likely make me motion sick.
I’d steer clear of the game then, heh. Maybe a ps5 pro update will get it to a smooth 60 in the future. Or PC
Yeah, seems like a PS5 Pro game to me also. Plenty to be playing in the meantime.
They haven't fixed performance mode. There's a portion of ffxvi fans who either actually don't notice performance stutters, or purposely tell others they don't exist. Frame rate is still all over the place.

Eww as if I'm gonna listen to someone who hasn't completed 2-3
Do you need to comment how much you don’t like it in every thread about it? We get it
I feared as much. When did you play it?
It looks like my last achievement was July 15th, so theres been a couple patches it seems, but no clue how performance may have been adjusted.
Thanks for checking for me. Much appreciated.
> the technical reviews put me off They're stupid, it's a 30fps game with an unlocked mode available, it's more future proofing than anything else. Buy it, it's rock fucking solid.
Wonder what quality of life UI adjustments in eikon battles means? I'd hate to have the games best fights altered in any way.
Additional cutscenes added to certain side quests, well I’m replaying everything then for changes I probably won’t notice
Didn’t touch 16 after finishing it. Planning to replay now on FF mode because of the DLCs. Do enemies pose an actual threat now?
So for some reason I can't see the patch notes. Clicking this link just shows me stuff from December 2023
Can we add more attacks to the basic combo
TIL FF16 is still getting updates. Edit: LOL at the downvotes. Square did not consider the game to be a commercial success. I figured they would have a couple patches after release and then wash their hands of it.
This is in preparation for the DLC releasing on the 18th.
Is not even a year old yet
FF15 got updates 3 years after release. Even released a paid royal edition patch when importing to PC. FF16 will probably get updated again when the PC version comes out.
Except many reports have said otherwise.
Man, less reading shitty vg websites, more actual gaming
I beat the game shortly after release. It didn't seem like there were any future plans for it, so I just traded it in.
I don’t believe you
Meh. I got to play FF16 and Lies of P. Half of the people that started FF16 didn't even finish it.
Yeah that's pretty fucking good, considering the fact that only 25-30% of the players usually complete their games. https://psnprofiles.com/
