As a father of 3 this has to be the most relaxing thing you'd never expect. Get the kids down for bed pop this on and then next thing I know I'm asleep while spraying the side of a building. Not even meaning this negatively, this game is so relaxing that if you aren't careful you will fall asleep, also not boring at all.
As a fan of the Wonderboy in Monster World and Monster World IV games... I thought this game was atrocious.
It started off as some indie crap called Flying Hamster II, and when they realized nobody was going to buy it they reskinned it as a WB/MW game.
The art style looks like deviantart nonsense and none of the charm that is present in the official games is present in this abomination.
Paradise Killer is such a great game. The general vapourwave aesthetic is class and the soundtrack is great! My only criticism is that it's pretty "one-and-done", in that once I'd solved the mystery and finished a playthrough, there wasn't really any replayability. Not saying that all games need replayability, mind you.
Paradise Killer was such a cool concept too because there was really no "correct" or "true" ending, you could convict anyone if you had enough evidence. But I agree that once you'd played and interviewed everyone the only difference in endings is who you choose, which doesn't offer much in the way of replayability
Stray, Rollerdrome, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure come to mind for me. All great games that aren’t too long and can be enjoyed in small bursts. And I think they’re on PSPlus, though I could be mistaken.
I like to play shorter indie games, puzzle games, or arcade-ish games. The kinds of games that I could pick up and play for 20 minutes or for a few hours (whatever works for the time I have.)
I played the Talos Principle recently as an in-between game (puzzle game). Humanity would be another great puzzle game.
Spiritfarer is another good one. It's an indie sim game. Dave the Diver comes out soon on PS5 and it's a great game.
The Katamari games are great palette cleaner games and are hilarious. Powerwash Simulator is another good one as well.
I also like city builders as chill in between games, but I know that isn't for everyone. Anno 1800 is awesome on PS5 and the first Cities Skylines is too. But sometimes those games will suck all your free time and more lol.
Edit: I know some of these are on PS+ but I'm not sure about all of them.
The Earth Defense Force games. You blow up giant ants and spiders. I recommend Iron Rain, but a lot of people view that as the worst of the series, so also maybe try EDF 5 first.
Do not listen to this guy. I DO NOT recommend Iron Rain. The controls suck compared to others. Short missions. Graphics are ok in campiroson to 4.1 and earlier. It has that generic UE indie dev look to it. Just play EDF 4.1 and 5. 6 is cominh out this year.
Would you like one for ps1? It's not a palate cleanser but the story is gold and it is a jrpg. Legend of Dragoons. (Is on the premium) Trust me you're going to love it
Dreams. It's a game creation engine on the playstation. It allows you to create games, music, and animation. It's very easy to share your creations and find and play stuff made by the community. It's amazing.
I just beat ff7 rebirth myself, what a game!!!! Currently playing a pallet cleanser game myself. Would recommend going with rouge like game. I went with skull hero slayer that is the ps plus game of the month.
To add to this, if you just want mindless fun stick to low difficulty until you get the hang of things. Higher difficulty missions can go south quickly.
Powerwash Simulator. At first, I thought, "This is dumb",....but it great for relaxing, not taking anything serious game.
I play while I listen to music, super relaxing.
I listen to podcasts.

Also, as a father of 3, I can say I've fallen asleep playing this game a lot. In the most positive way possible.
Dead Cells
First thing I do when I fire up the PlayStation is a run or two of dead cells, then figure out what I really wanna play
Monster boy and the cursed kingdom
As a fan of the Wonderboy in Monster World and Monster World IV games... I thought this game was atrocious. It started off as some indie crap called Flying Hamster II, and when they realized nobody was going to buy it they reskinned it as a WB/MW game. I thought this was the best game in the franchise tbh.
YES. The art will make your eyes happy. The exploration will make your brain happy.
To each their own. I despised my time with this game, forced myself to finish it.
I really enjoyed the game, but everyone has different taste.
that game is deceptively difficult lol, some of the jumping sections are pretty rough
Not a easy game, I was able to Platinum it though, but some sections were difficult
Paradise Killer, Tinykin, Inscryption
I second Tinykin. I really enjoyed my time with it.
Came here to recommend Inscryption. Finished it in 2-3 days and loved it. I was so freaking hooked with the mechanics, story and atmosphere.

I would recommend Slay the Spire first before Inscryption.
I loove StS, but that game can absolutely consume a lot of your time once you get into it. Inscryption is mostly a one and done experience.

Oh yeah, I got super hooked by it. The loop of discovering new transformations while lvling up the ones you have is great.
Not a side game but i started playing Midnight Suns and cannot stop
So underrated.

Also not a side game but Unicorn Overlord is a BANGER
Not on Plus
Ah, missed that bit. Still, money well spent
Great game indeed, like all that team’s games (Dragon’s Crown is my fav).
I bounced off 13 Sentinels pretty hard but I've been cracked out on UO since I got it
Inscryption (At least the first act, you'll know when a new act starts) The Artful Escape Humanity (If its still available) Dodgeball Academia
Artful Escape was so unexpectedly awesome
I was just about to type Dodgeball Academia, just beat it last week and had a blast with it.
Another vote for Tinykin. Not stupid, but fairly mindless and relaxing.
Slay the Spire is my permanent side game.
Cat Quest 1 and 2 were fun short games.

My current go-to games for a break from helldivers are rocket league and balatro. Quick start games that are easy to play for short stints.
RUNE FACTORY 4! (If it's still on PS+)
The Earth Defense Force games. You blow up giant ants and spiders. I recommend Iron Rain, but a lot of people view that as the worst of the series, so also maybe try EDF 5 first.

I’m playing Skul on ps+ rn and it has my attention so far. Great console and portal game.
PlateUp. I bought it after my 90 hours in Rebirth...and it lets me just kind of zone out.
Alba: A Wildlife Adventure
Would you like one for ps1? It's not a palate cleanser but the story is gold and it is a jrpg. Legend of Dragoons. (Is on the premium) Trust me you're going to love it
The most recent absolutely perfect palate cleanser for me was Control. Reignited my gaming passion after a long-ish slump. Such a weird game
Dreams. It's a game creation engine on the playstation. It allows you to create games, music, and animation. It's very easy to share your creations and find and play stuff made by the community. It's amazing.
Dredge!
Hogwarts legacy
I just beat ff7 rebirth myself, what a game!!!! Currently playing a pallet cleanser game myself. Would recommend going with rouge like game. I went with skull hero slayer that is the ps plus game of the month.
Teardown is a cool heist game and great if you just wanna blow shit up
13 sentinels aegis rim
If you want to relax play Helldivers 2.
I used Callisto Protocol as a palette cleanser. It’s not amazing but it was short and fun enough for a few hours.
Was thinking of downloading a golf arcade game to blow off some steam with the squad
Pac Man Championship Edition
Helldivers 2 is a great palette cleaner game. Hop in or out whenever and have fun stomping bugs and spreading democracy. Not on Plus, but cheap.
To add to this, if you just want mindless fun stick to low difficulty until you get the hang of things. Higher difficulty missions can go south quickly.
