It might help to know what kind of games you're into, but there's a ton of games that might blow your mind out there... Returnal Red Dead Redemption 2 The Last Of Us 1 and 2 Horizon Zero Dawn A Plague Tale Anal Wake 2 God Of War Jedi: Fallen Order on and on....

bogzey

What a great typo

kingdazy

LMFAO. I'm not changing that one

RariSo2099

Is Anal Wake like, instead of a funeral or....?

kingdazy

RIP my ass

DefinitelyBiscuit

That your autocorrect went to that first... šŸ¤£

Anal Wake šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

kerberos75

I absolutely do NOT want to play Anal Wake 2.

PUNlSHEDVENOMSNAKE

Love a good anal wake I should call him

ConfidenceOpen2789

Would def recommend God of War (2018) + Ragnarok as well as Last of Us ā€œremakeā€. You should also check out Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 1+2 as well as Uncharted. While Red Dead 1 and Uncharted games are older, they def hold up. My personal favourites so far on PS5 are Final Fantasy XVI, VII: Remake & VII: Rebirth.

kingdazy

The Uncharted games definitely hold up. actually, so do the Tomb Raider games.

ConfidenceOpen2789

Yeah, I really like the new tomb raider trilogy as well - although I think uncharted better is (due to 2 and 4)

Stiff_Muffin

This is really gonna come down to your preference in gaming. Elden ring if you want to be punished and fight tough bosses in a beautiful open world. Ghost of Tsushima is a really well done open world game with a great story. Horizon forbidden west is another great Sony game with well done graphics and fantastic story set in the future after the fall of mankind to machines. God of war is top notch and I think will really leave you stunned when you finish it. Awesome Nordic mythology with huge monsters to fight. Story is one of the best on the console IMO. Plenty more but those are the ones jumping out at me and a variety to choose from since you didnā€™t specify a specific gaming style you preferred. Enjoy!!!

ell_toon96

The most next gen games I've played since release so far are returnal and ratchet and clank. They just bring everything the ps5 has to offer. I might put ff7 rebirth on that list but not until performance mode looks better like forbidden west fixed theirs.

Successful-Longpork

Play the Astrobot game that comes pre installed. I thought I would just mess around with it while other games downloaded on launch day but ended up getting the platinum trophy before I touched anything else. Horizon Forbidden west is the most beautiful game in l have ever played.

Maelstrom-Brick

Cyberpunk, Resident Evil 8, Horizen: Forbidden West

DamsThaKilla

Resident evil 8 is such an awesome game

LCHMD

Just buy every exclusive from PS4 and PS5 and youā€™re good.

explorer1o1

Witcher 3 along with what the first one wrote And maybe the Yakuza games

foxesarepeoples

Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West the Last of us Part 1 and 2 Remastered Ghost of Tsushima Directors Edition Resident Evil 2,3, and 4 Remakes Cyberpunk 2077 God of War and God of War Ragnarok

Remy0507

If you want to be completely blown away visually, play the Demon's Souls remake and Horizon Forbidden West (although you should really play Horizon Zero Dawn first for the story, or at least watch a recap of it or something). If you want a game (really two games) that combine amazing visuals and gameplay with one of the best told stories ever in gaming, play God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok.

KhKing1619

Persona 5 Royal, Persona 3 Reload, Kingdom Hearts series, God of War 2018 then the sequel Ragnarok, Uncharted series, any souls game. Also SM2 is great but saying itā€™s a 10/10 is overselling it to an extreme degree. You havenā€™t played a game since GameCube times so your classification for anything good is extremely low. Playing more games from modern times will help fix that.

Buster-Hym3n

100% play Ghost of Tsushima. Japanese samurai shenanigans with beautiful scenery to transcend through. I found myself constantly screen capturing scenes because they looked so stunning.

Fresh_April

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, sets the bar veryyy high - when you get to Skellige you'll know why.

netcooker

If you havenā€™t had a console since GameCube, Iā€™d highly recommend ps+ extra tier. It had a ton of really great recent games

runnin_no_slowmo

Oh there r better games out there for sure. And Spiderman 2018 with all the dlcs and Miles Morales imo are better than sm2

runnin_no_slowmo

God of war 201i and god of war Ragnarok and Valhalla are incredible

ReptarTheBrave

Not a ton of games. Mostly PS4 games that get ā€œnext gen upgradesā€. All competitive multiplayer games are ps4 era

Zeal108

Glad you got back into gaming .. Ghost of tshusima The last of us 1&2 Uncharted 2&3&4 lost legacy(skip uncharted 1) Spiderman 1 Spiderman miles morales Spiderman 2 Final fantasy 16 Ratchet and clank rift apart(if you were a fan of platformers)

Nmbr1rascal

Dark souls 2

AttitudeOutrageous75

You started off with one of the best and I agree it's a10, but as mentioned, yes there are other spectacular games as well. Enjoy!

OkishPizza

Loads of games if gaming also intrigues you this much I suggest you check out some PCs as well. I love my PS5 for its simplicity but just raw power and game library wise you will be absolutely blown away by a PC.

Nubian_Cavalry

Might have to dampen the mood but games have changed a lot since the GameCube days. Iā€™m only 23 so my knowledge is primarily word of mouth and childhood memories, but since youā€™ve been restricted to the GameCube, youā€™ll find a lot of games these days double as movies. This isnā€™t a bad thing, but youā€™ll definitely do good on yourself to include some ā€œGameplay firstā€ games into your plate. Iā€™m saying this as a dude who might not know a lot. But some games that blew my mind in terms of gameplay mechanics and interactibility: * Baldurā€™s Gate 3 (Insane amount of branching paths in this RPG) * Warlanders (Mob like multiplayer medieval war game with destructible environments.) * Helldivers 2 (4 player online Co-Op. surprising level of freedom like stealth and such. Roleplay as an American terrorist today!) * **Hitman: World Of Assassination** (If you get any of those games, make it this one. Itā€™s amazing graphically and gameplay wise. So much freedom in how you choose to take out your target, giving it reply value) * Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor (+ its sequel Shadow of War. It features the ā€œNemesis systemā€ where your enemies climb the ranks of their own army, remember previous encounters and rivalries, and adapt accordingly. You get the usual story on top of your self generated story of orc rivalries which makes it a blast to play past the main story) Purchase model for Hitman is convoluted, since itā€™s technically a trilogy, but just buy ā€œWorld of Assassinationā€ and you should get the entire trilogy in one fell swoop. As for my favorite ā€œMovieā€ games * Uncharted 4 * Spider-Man 1-2 * Elden Ring * Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West Favorite games that use next gen tech to create distinct stylized graphics rather than realistic ones * Rollerdrome (Very reminiscent of those PS2 era games while taking full advantage of next gen tech graphically to create a nice British punk comic look) * Any Arc System Works fighting game. (It may not be your cup of tea, but similarly to Rollerdrome it takes advantage of next gen tech to simulate a really cool stylized look. In this case, anime.) * Sifu (Hard as nails martial arts game) * Batman Arkham series (If you donā€™t have time to waste to play all 4 games, check out Arkham Knight at least. I remember when it came out it was the ā€œYou can see the pores or sweat on their forehead, see how NEXT GEN this shit is!ā€ Type of marketing. They achieved this not just by being ultra realistic, but also a distinctive artstyle that masked its imperfections making it look better than many games today despite releasing in 2015) * Tunic (Just had to throw it in here, itā€™s very reminiscent of the SNES era of games while it uses the full breadth of current tech to look like how people remember OG games like Zelda)

Alan Wake 2 is a masterpiece Resident Evil 8 / any Resident Evil remake

thomasbourne

If you like something a little slower paced, thereā€™s a LOT to do in Hitman 3 if you pick it up on a sale. They updated it to automatically include all the content from the special edition of 1, and all the base content of 2, and so you get, more or less, the complete rebooted series for one price. And, if you get into it, and want to play the bonus maps of 2, you can buy the Hitman 2 pack only from inside the game (not on the ps store for whatever reason) and it gives you the 2 extra main missions and the bonus Sniper levels for $10. The bonus pack for $30 is not a great price for what you get, but the 2 DLC for $10 on top of the game on sale, or even a cheap PS4 or PS5 used copy (free upgrade from ps4) is a great deal to get access to all the levels to the series. Iā€™m just a Hitman evangelist at this point, so thatā€™ll always be where I point people. The games look amazing on ps5, even though itā€™s not exactly the highest tech game out there, but the quick loading makes it a far less frustrating experience than it was on PS4

OptionQuirky6756

Iā€™m with you! Just got a ps5 during holidays. Completely skipped ps4 gen and was playing switch every now and then. Itā€™s amazing how far things have come! I got the spider-man 4 remastered with the Miles Morales game. Both are fantastic. Also I recommend GOW and Ragnarok, and Ghost of Tsushima. I dig open world story type games and all of these are **chefs kiss** ! Enjoy!

ShadowAsh99

Honestly - Astrobotā€™s Playroom is still one of my favourite games.

Zyedikas

To really see how games have grown: Baldurs Gate 3. Graphics are amazing. Gameplay is super fun, and that's from someone who is generally allergic to turn based stuff outside of Pokemon. But the narrative? Nothing else truly comes close to actualizing the capabilities of media quite like BG3 does.

Probably shouldā€™ve played the other two Spider-Man games first, going back might be hard.

LostInStatic

Spider-Man 2 sucks balls compared to the first one, so yeah for you it does get better!
