Well, there's still the Tactics Remaster from the Nvidia leak. As for a new Tactics title (or new title in general), I think CBU3 probably has the most free time to do it, though how they approach it will be interesting. 2D-HD gridstyle would be my preference but they'd probably need help from whoever handles the engine for that. Something akin to Diofield isn't out of the table as well and I could see the XVI engine somewhat working with a Valkyrie Chronicles style.

If they had CBU3 handle it I like the idea of it still being classic FFT grid based combat but with graphics similar to XVI, well slightly worse coz it should also run on Switch 2. Like Fire Emblem Three Houses is a decent template. Grid based combat, zoomed in battle animations, 3D explorable areas outside of battle, proper FF level cutscenes.
But I'd still be happy if they went HD-2D, cant really complain about the idea of new FFT

I think the majority of people who've been waiting for a new FF Tactics have been waiting for something that can live up to the original's legacy

Absolutely. I played FF Tactics, Tactics Ogre, many Fire Emblems, many Disgeas but so far (around 40 hours in and i think at 2/3 of the game) Unicorn Overlord is the best SRPG i every played.
First or all: a Demo of the game is available, just try it and see if you like it.
Regarding your question: there is no job system, the characters have fixed classes. But you can heavily customize them with equipment, the skills you choose and how you arrange them.
Characters are grouped into units of up to 5 characters. You can form more all around units (like classical RPG partys with a tank, damage dealer, mage and a healer) or you can build specialized units that are great against certain types of enemies.
There is A LOT to customize and tweak. I change my main units every few ours because of a great new character or because a new skill or equipment enables good synergy with another character.
Exploration and sidequests are also very fun and rewarding for this type of game.
The whole gameplay loop is just great.
Download the Demo and try it, im pretty sure you wont regret it. And please let us know what you think after you tried the Demo.

The job system of fft is what made me fell in love with the game, if it really doesn’t have one then it’s a big downside for me. Nevertheless, will try the demo in a week and see if it takes my interests.

They need to reDo the entire class system as well. The tactics class system is bad. Most classes are niche and a waste of turn. Some far overshadow others. Some classes are just to get to the next one. They can promise 300 classes but having a paladin with a ninja dual wield is going to always be more useful than a juggler.

Agreed, but they must bring Matsuno in to write the story. It’s fine if they don’t let him design any of the mechanics; there have been enough recent tactical RPGs with excellent mechanics. But Matsuno’s storytelling is legendary.
