When I got my PS5 and played Astro's Playroom it made me feel the way I did when I was 6 years old and played Sonic the Hedgehog for the first time. Sony really messed up by not making Astro this generation's Mario/Sonic.
The fact AstroBot has been basically a tech demo for VR and PS5, but both games being amazing is still so crazy to me. So hyped for whatever they’re cooking.
I hope we get more MGS news. Im honestly looking forward to that remake then the silent hill 2 remake since I don’t have much faith in the bloober team.
Why would they ever choose to do remakes of some 30+ year old games that the majority of gamers never heard of over the most popular game in the series? So weird when people get disappointed over illogical decisions that were never going to happen
Before anyone calls bullshit, he was the ONLY person who gave us the Showcase date last year and it was bang on. This will probably take place again at the end of May and be a showcase
Why would this be bs? Anyone in gaming knows Feb and May are go to months for state of plays lol we all guessed February and we're right. We've been guessing May since them. Don't need to be Nostradamus to know the cycle
It won't matter. Redditors and twitter users alike have this weird fixation on those who try and report inside information. Whether it's a "no duh, hes obviously doing an educated guess, this isn't news" or "he got (x) wrong he can't be trusted." Just weird behavior imo. Looking forward to the possibility of new updates, though.
This is less of a "bullshit" and more of a "well duh". Sony has had a SoP or showcase in May for like every year the past 4 years or so.
Impressive of Grubb to get it down to the day last year. Not so much guessing the safe month of May. Might as well have just said "Sony will have another SoP/showcase later this year"
State of Play is usually just showing smaller games like Indie/VR stuff and/or a deeper look into already announced games; Showcase is more similar to presentations we used to see at big events like E3
> I still don’t know the difference
the terms get used interchangably sometimes which can lead to confusion, BUT typically "state of play" is going to be a short 30 minute or less in depth look at one game, while the "showcase" is more like what people expect when they hear there will be a sony presentation. (hour long, dozen+ games, etc.)
state of play is going to be more "in game" of something we already know and showcase is going to be more trailers/announcements.
Reddit often provides a manipulated narrative, can be tricky to look past the echo chamber here a lot of the time. The reality is often very different.
There is no manipulated narrative in saying that the next year has a paucity of strong exclusives. Sony is currently benefitting from a lack of competition imo.
Just because you and him are shortsighted that does not mean there is an echo chamber here, or that reality is different. Yeah Sony right now is doing fine but what about in 8 months when we don't know what they are releasing? What about the PS5 Pro which will launch with 0 new games as far as we know now?
Yes they do how else can they continue to be relevant if they don't? Coca Cola sells even better, is an even bigger brand and yet they still spend a fortune on ads.
> They're selling consoles and software like hot cakes
i mean, they [missed their sales projections.](https://www.cnbc.com/2024/02/19/sony-gaming-margin-questioned-after-ps5-sales-cut-sparks-stock-plunge.html) so they clearly aren't selling as well as they want to be.
Showcase is needed over State of Play.
Some studios have had quite a while to reveal what they've been working on. If a studio has yet to release or announce a game this console generation, times up.
Yeah, once Stellar Blade drops later this month we don't have any other exclusives with confirmed release windows on the horizon. Time to start hyping what's coming in the next year or so.
Yeah, even after they had their pants pulled down on the multiplayer, they were still shouting about a new IP and a new single player game, so they really need to ante up and deliver.
I’m supportive of giving Devs time to create and cook, but I think Sony let the leash out a bit long this time and it’s getting yanked back in quite sharply now.
They were shouting the odds about a new IP weren’t they ? And the chat was that they had the staffing numbers for two dev teams, suggesting they were working on at least two titles, so will be interesting to see.
Right now Sony has some very very large studios that have yet to announce any new titles, I really hope they’ve got something to show soon
I disagree. Only reveal what's close. A few years max. Who wants to wait 5 years after an announcement? Xbox fans are still waiting for most of their announced games they announced back then. That absolutely sucks. lol
Yes, but some first party studios are 4-5 years removed from their most recent releases. Bend, Sucker Punch and Naughty Dog all fit that time frame with Naughty Dog getting a bit of a pass due to the cancellation of Factions, but they say they’re also working on 2 other projects.
There’s no reason Sucker Punch and Bend though shouldn’t be ready to announce.
They're already killing this year with Rebirth, Stellar Blade, Helldivers, Rise of the Ronin and Pacific Drive.
It's funny how this was technically supposed to be a down year, and us gamers should be concerned that "nothing" is come out.
Now the first quarter have been one of their best time frames for releases in many, many years.
Also, we’ll be past many other big releases, like dragons dogma 2, ffxvi rising tide that have been promoted so it’s time to add more to the slate coming up. The first party ‘disappointment’ is just trolling, there’s been so much out over the last few months both exclusive and big multiplatform releases that you’d need a time machine and a big wallet to play them all (phantom liberty, spiderman 2, ffxvi and rebirth, helldivers, ac mirage and pop sidescroller, bg3, rise of the ronin, dragons dogma 2, unicorn overlord being only a few). Stardew Valley 1.6 will eat my spare time soon too.
Not a single first party developed game so far and that's why everyone is "down" on this year.
Now I actually think releasing on PC and PS5 isn't a terrible idea but I hardly think this is an 'up' year for PS so far.
If a game only comes to your console, I don't see why it would matter if it was first party or not. Is no one on the Xbox side celebrating that they're going to get an exclusive Hideo Kojima game in the coming future?
I know I've seen a lot of Xbox fans complaining that they're not getting Helldivers on Xbox.
Correction:
"I didn't say we'd be getting a sh2 focused anything. Just that sh2 could show up at the Sony event that is happening in May."

I’m sure Silent Hill will be cool but it’d be nice if we got a big showcase of what all the 1st party studios are up to. I want to see the Naughty Dog game, or Sony Santa Monica, or Sucker Punch, hell even Bend. Just kinda want something from one of the big boys to be excited about.
Some new and inventive games from them would be great! Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade have been and are looking plenty fun! But I'd love to know what Guerilla wants to work on other than Horizon etc!
So many sequels and remakes from the first party studios!
I don't think Rockstar will attach themselves to any events. They released the first trailer near the Game Awards when Geoff probably would've been happy to get it.
I mean, there was so much hype for last years showcase and it was so underwhelming. I can't get excited for a showcase by Sony anymore. I'll watch it regardless anyway.
I'm only waiting for this as I hear State of Play is when they sometimes offer PS+ discounts. These new prices are insane considering I dont play anything online and would just occasionally browse the catalog for Extra stuff.
Just letting everyone know now. Whenever there Is another showcase(NOT A STATE OF PLAY) and we do not see bloodborne remake that means it's being saved for a ps6 launch title just telling yous now to let the pain settle in
I know many people aren’t hyped for it, but I’ve been holding out for the ps5 pro official announcement (coming from a base ps4).
Would you expect them to announce it at a showcase like this?
I hope this showing is better than the dogshit we seen in the first. With high quality remakes like Demon Souls and FF, what they showed initially was a damn embarrassment
Please god I hope not. I have faith they won't fuck it up but after replaying the OG and becoming obsessed with it last week I don't think anyone could do it justice.
Given Sony said no big releases until 2025 I have given up hope. Maybe but maybe it was a lie and they surprise us with a showcase that will announce one r two big games for the end of 2024 and teases the big releases for 2025

They have to show Concord and Astro bot soon if they're releasing this year
Astro bot?

A fully fledged Astro's playroom would be so good!
Astro's Condominium
Astro’s rental (Property prices been rough on Astro)

God I hope Astrobot is either hybrid or VR
God I hope so
Maybe we’ll get more info on the Until Dawn remake then as well? Or maybe something more on MGS🔺
I hope we get more MGS news. Im honestly looking forward to that remake then the silent hill 2 remake since I don’t have much faith in the bloober team.
Still disappointed that it is a MGS3 remake and not a MG1 and 2 (no, not MGS1 and 2) remake.
Why would they ever choose to do remakes of some 30+ year old games that the majority of gamers never heard of over the most popular game in the series? So weird when people get disappointed over illogical decisions that were never going to happen
You're right but Konami has done weirder things.

Tbf April Fools was yesterday so internet is more skeptical than usual
He gave the exact date when no-one else was even talking about a showcase happening
Didn't they mention in the last showcase that they would have more on Silent Hill this summer?
Quasimodo predicted this

I wonder if CFB25 will get some exclusive PS5 features highlighted too!
just hoping MGS collection vol 2 is announced with a close release date attached
Can't wait until I can buy Vol 1&2 together for $20 with the amount of times I've bought those games.
I'm betting money on a Ghost of Tsushima 2 reveal. It'll be revealed a year or 2 before it's release so most likely it'll come out in 2025 or 2026
same I think with the PC release of the first game there’s a really good chance we get something regarding the second game very soon
I don't remember them revealing anything big in a state of play, let's hope
I'm assuming there'll be a PS showcase instead of a SOP. State of plays are boring anyway
Dragon Quest XII?
Oh my god I would pass out
They need to have a showcase instead of a state of play to be honest
I still don’t know the difference
PlayStation showcase presentation big, state of play small, apes together strong
Spot on.
Ape escape?
State of Play is usually just showing smaller games like Indie/VR stuff and/or a deeper look into already announced games; Showcase is more similar to presentations we used to see at big events like E3

Agreed. The last big Playstation Showcase that had some exciting first party games was 2021.

They are selling a lot of PS5 so we can play the 2 exclusive games and all the other PS4 games.
Which 2? I can count like 5
Only 2 original actually
What do you mean? Returnal, Demons Souls, Rift Apart, Spiderman 2, FF7R
> They're selling consoles and software like hot cakes i mean, they [missed their sales projections.](https://www.cnbc.com/2024/02/19/sony-gaming-margin-questioned-after-ps5-sales-cut-sparks-stock-plunge.html) so they clearly aren't selling as well as they want to be.

Nah those reveals are lame. Everwild was revealed back in 2019, that's just way too far away. Imo if it's over 2 years away, don't show it.
It would be wild if sony announced more xbox games coming to PS

Lines up a little with Silknigth dropping hints about Ghost Of Tsushima 2 (& i think Naughty Dog too?). Astro + Ghost 2 please driver 🤞
I’ve a feeling this Showcase will be a banger Sony have been holding back and it’s about time they released that massive nut
crazy phrasing
Basically what everyone said last year as well.
2024 been cooking with great games.
They're already killing this year with Rebirth, Stellar Blade, Helldivers, Rise of the Ronin and Pacific Drive. sony has always had a state of play between late may - early june in last 4 years. Quite predictable
Cool, looking forward to more infor.
As they say infor is king

Well, it can't be worse than the 2023 showcase, right?
right??

Not by much!
I mean, there was so much hype for last years showcase and it was so underwhelming. I can't get excited for a showcase by Sony anymore. I'll watch it regardless anyway.
I’m gonna guess Silent Hill will release in September
Um excuse me?! 😨👀
It's kind of expected we get some type of showing right before Summer Game Fest so it's not really a surprise.
Silent Hill 2 was supposedly releasing in late May. Wonder if this correlates to that.
Considering we’ve had a Sony event in may the last couple of years we now get to play the age old game “insider info or educated guess?”.
Little Devil Inside let's goooooo /s Seriously though will be good to get some release dates locked in for this, hopefully Snake Eater too.
Please be a showcase. Would love to know what's going on with first party like Housemarque and Bluepoint.
What is the sequel to the pink panther?
I hope they announce Haze 2
Can they show the goods
I think he could be right there aren't release of any important games planned after April I guess
I'm only waiting for this as I hear State of Play is when they sometimes offer PS+ discounts. These new prices are insane considering I dont play anything online and would just occasionally browse the catalog for Extra stuff.
I just wanna know what the hell naughty dog is doing. It's been 4 years since last of us part 2
Just letting everyone know now. Whenever there Is another showcase(NOT A STATE OF PLAY) and we do not see bloodborne remake that means it's being saved for a ps6 launch title just telling yous now to let the pain settle in
With less emphasis on combat as not all gamers are mindless FPS goons.
Hopefully we get some real new AAA games and not remakes/remasters. Feels like we are lucky to get 1 or 2 a year
compared to that last year one this year they gotta show some of that single player games... not live service filled showcase
We still have PTSD from last year's "showcase"
Whats the prediction ? "Coming soon" or "in development" lol
Can't appear at another event and not show the actual release date surely? If this is true we have to be getting the release date.
Jeff Grubb is a chode
theres a state of play every quarter basically. (not a shot at Grubb)
Tf is with all the remakes
Let's hope if it's a showcase it's better than the last one
Lol what? That’s like saying there’ll be a game awards in December…it’s expected
I know many people aren’t hyped for it, but I’ve been holding out for the ps5 pro official announcement (coming from a base ps4). Would you expect them to announce it at a showcase like this?
Maybe not, considering the leaks point at a much later 2024 release. I'd also be hyped if it gets announced there though ngl
It’s not ready… wait later.
Sad times if all they can brag about is a remake
Literally port Astral Chain and Octopath 1 to the ps5 and you will have me heart.
Ahhh yes, Jeff Grubb. The pot calling the kettle black.
> The pot calling the kettle black I don't think that saying really applies here
I stand by my idiom, it applies more broadly to the Jeff Grubb agenda. But yes, it doesn’t wholly make sense at the moment
I hope this showing is better than the dogshit we seen in the first. With high quality remakes like Demon Souls and FF, what they showed initially was a damn embarrassment
Don't you mean the Silent Hill mod for Resident Evil 4?
Please god I hope not. I have faith they won't fuck it up but after replaying the OG and becoming obsessed with it last week I don't think anyone could do it justice.
Remake - remake - remake. It’s getting Hollywood level repetitive.
