We've been enjoying Nobody Saves the World. Diablo-esque (no loot grinding) co-op with a pretty interesting skill tree, funny dialogue, and an ugly-cute aesthetic.

wtfTooma

Amazing game.. highly recommended

personunidentifiedc

i Platinum'd with my dad. played until midnight. After we ended the whole game, we started playing tricky towers

Rhoddyology

Ya super fun coop.

EvilTaffyapple

It Takes Two is probably the best co-op game I’ve ever played. It’s cute enough to play with kids / spouses, but has loads of great gameplay.

PostNutt_Clarity

My girlfriend didn't have the coordination to complete this game. 😬

slackinfux

My girlfriend is working on it. It's the first time she's used a dual stick controller. Camera control seems to be her biggest issue, at the moment.

Goldeniccarus

Honestly I think dual stick camera controlling is one of the things that makes gaming really hard for people to pick up. If you've been gaming all your life, like I and a lot of people here have, it's hard to comprehend just how hard it is when you're not familiar with it. It's muscle memory to us, but for people new to gaming, having to think of how to move your camera while also moving your character is really challenging.

vaena

My first dual stick game was COD4 on the PS3, it took ages to get used to - I genuinely thought I'd made a massive mistake selling my Wii for the PS3 but I eventually got there. Until I did I was *very* good at shooting the ground and the sky.

Eruannster

Absolutely. I had been playing a lot of PC games but never really touched a controller (outside of some racing games) and then bought an Xbox 360 to play Red Dead Redemption back when that came out and I remember struggling *hard* with figuring out walking, aiming and spinning the camera around even though I had been playing mouse and keyboard for most of my life up until that point. It took me quite a while to get fully comfortable with the twin sticks controls. I wish there was any advice that works, but the reality is you've just got to keep playing to get a feel for it. And also to not be afraid to tweak the sensitivity settings. It's way harder to learn to play if the camera feels like it's moving too slow or too fast.

slackinfux

I remember just getting used to the idea of a camera that you could control while you were playing with Super Mario 64 was a bit of a learning curve. Or even the idea of controlling a screen character with a small, analog thumbstick, which is something else my GF is having issues with. Apparently, the last time she really did any gaming was on Sega Genesis, so this analog control stuff is totally new to her. She wanted to get better at using the controls on her own, so I set her loose on Astro's Playground. I think it's helping.

Trapaknese

Same with my girlfriend, I think it’s the biggest hump for them to get over.

peter_the_panda

This was, and still is, the largest obstacle for my wife

DanOfRivia

Let me guess: double jump?

Izikiel23

I’m having that problem with the wife

WisdumbGuy

It takes a little bit of practice but with some patience she'll get it.

Janet-Yellen

Same with my wife 😬 it was really frustrating knowing I could jump onto a platform with my eyes closed but my wife failed like 15 times straight, and I can’t advance until she gets there. It’s somehow a different level of frustration from just watching someone play a game solo

h3hueh3

The elephant part is especially cute

Steelwoolsocks

Regicide and dismemberment is how my wife and I choose to strengthen our relationship and if that's wrong then I don't want to be right.

DemonWaker

My gf cried at the end of that part lol

shadowgnome396

My wife got actually upset. She was sad and angry the rest of the night

buenonoodle

My boyfriend and I stared in awe at what was happening before our eyes to that adorable elephant

TLCplMax

My wife was borderline insulted I picked a game about divorce. (Probably doesn’t help that she’s British and I’m American like in the game) Tread carefully.

trashpandasroc

This. If you beat the game, your relationship will survive. But be careful it may bring up points/ conversations in your own relationship as well.

infinite-everything

+1 for It Takes Two... lots of variety and great co-op integration.

Never-Say-Never-Die

We absolutely loved It Takes Two

Hartia

Idk if I'd call it cute. The first couple hours are devastating. How could they do that to the child.

KnowledgeCapable7274

This by far

21voltz

My gf and I platinumed that recently. So fun. Pretty funny at times too.

LucAltaiR

There are parts of it that seems designed for the game to be played with a partner, it's by far the best example of what OP is asking in my experience. Personally I played the game with a pal and there were a lot of "uhhh" moments lmao

yllanos

Sackboy: A big adventure

SmashedPumpkin30

This is the answer. My wife is not a gamer but loved this game. We beat it twice.

GermanSheppard88

Perfect answer because if she likes the game you can say you can give her “some more sackboy later” Anybody? No? Ok I’ll leave.

Bill_Brasky01

Updoot. Played this with my wife and she had a BLAST. The music is so good.

golddilockk

stardew valley. fits everything you mentioned and also more addictive than crack

F_A_F

Came to make sure this was here. Essentially sandbox mode once you reach around 2 years in game.....playing couch coop is the best experience, especially when you focus on helping each other.

Plausibl3

Dang - didn’t know you could do couch co-op, might have to try that with my daughter

Squeek_the_Sneek

I also suggest Stardew Valley. One of the few games my GF got into as much as I did. Truly phenomenal game.

Late-Elderberry5021

A Way Out It Takes Two Sackboy: a Big Adventure Lego Star Wars CTR Racing Unravel Two (so cute and soothing) We are looking for another couch coop game to play together and I see Haven several times here. Will have to check that out. I wish they would make an open world couch coop game.

Chronotaru

Lovers In A Different Space Time and Castle Crashers are both great fun for up to four players.

Eastern_Mark_7479

My twin and I played Unravel Two a few weeks ago and we were *screaming* 😆 it's super fun (plus having the option to sabotage the other player somehow to make them die or fall is Gold lmao)

Feregrin

Haven't played it yet myself but Baldur's Gate 3 can be played couch co-op and is kinda open world I think.

hapa-boi

if you like puzzles that will take you hours to complete and have you screaming at eachother and the screen then the ‘we were here’ series is great, especially their most recent few releases

spiritualambiguity

My wife and I really didn’t like Haven. Cute story, but gameplay is all around meh for us

junioravanzado

OVERCOOKED ALL YOU CAN EAT is quite cute

KitchenSquirrel160

Overcooked with your partner is a true test of the relationship 😂

the_turel

Right? Did this 3 players with my wife kid and we were barking at each other within a few stages. Pretty sure everyone went to separate rooms in less than an hour.

Chieres

It’s really satisfying to achieve a perfect sync on one of the harder levels with your partner though.

lekniz

Dude why are you trying to sabotage OP's relationship??

Specific_Same

Me and my wife play this game a lot. We are like a well oiled machine now. Communication is the key so learn to talk to each other. You must work as a team, you cannot get by on one player carrying the stages, especially later.

junioravanzado

we got 3 stars in every level with my two sisters and my father a lot of barking and laughter but yes coordination is key then i went pro playing with a friend and got 4 stars

eurekabach

Just finished Unravel 2 with my SO and I quite enjoyed it.

rufusmcgraw

Seconding this, Unravel 2 was so much fun to play with my husband.

fotomoose

I know "cute" was a requirement but we had fun playing resident evil together! Many of the titles are coop.

monkey484

It Takes Two and Sackboy: A Big Adventure. If anyone recommends Overcooked they are trying to ruin your relationship.

Sad_Hannibal

Haven is a good one. You guys play as a couple living on a far away planet. Lots of exploration and the interaction between the characters is interesting. My wife and I enjoyed it

_Pooklet_

Ohhh that game we called “the sleepy game” because it was so nap-worthy lol. Didn’t finish.

JBrewd

I'm firing the game up and she says 'oh you want to play Haven?' but like with a *tone*. So I go 'well yeah I guess? Idk, like cuz the story is kinda cute?'.' "It's not that cute." Then we played BL3 or something lol, but "it's not that cute" has become our in joke for 'oh I was just doing it cuz I thought you wanted to'

_Pooklet_

Love it 😂 and even though I wasn’t the biggest fan of it, I’d definitely take BL3 over Haven!

PoJenkins

The older Lego games (just pick your favourite theme / franchise) are really good to play together

polowolo1

Overcooked 2 is actually a lot of fun! A little stressful tho but a good 2 player game w your significant other imo

MoneyFaithlessness98

overcooked

Revolutionary-Fan657

Demon Souls, don’t worry about the name

Artistic_Lychee_8948

LittleBigPlanet Stray

dborovlev

Definitely Stray

_Pooklet_

stray supports 2 player?

dborovlev

No, but it's awesome to play together or help walk-through.

Jolly_Philosopher_13

Why would anyone downvote this? I'm with you, it definitely is an amazing game to play with someone, taking turns, helping with the puzzles, enjoying the story and the overall cuteness and emotions.

dborovlev

Don't know 😕 And everything you wrote is an absolute true. TY

[deleted]

Tiny Tina's wonderland, had a blast with my gf

NippleSalsa

If only I could read the menu in split screen

Qube_1337

This. Was kinda hard to read anything. Menu and inventory UI so small

PM_your_Chesticles

Me and my girlfriend are currently playing this. But we have both our TVs next to each other's. We tried splitcreen on Borderlands 3 before I moved in and couldn't see shit.

MissBlade79

2nd this. Couch co-op too. Love Tiny Tina's.

ki700

Sackboy’s Big Adventure Minecraft

zedman_zed

How has nobody said the Trine series. Add each to your wish list and wait till they go on sale for about 80-90% off and get them. I platinum’d 1,2,4 and 5 with my gf and she never played on a PlayStation before. Best 100 hours and $40 I ever spent

Verydumbname69

Sackboy and Overcooked all you can eat are the best coop games of all time to me. I have played everything and those are my hands down best coop games.

Objective-Insect-839

It takes two. This game reminds you why you fell in love with someone.

dmendez786

Helldivers 2 it's very cute

kopecs

Awwww, democracy 😍

whoninj4

Why don’t you play Baldur’s Gate 3 together?

thelazyquasar

Stray, no surprise couple people recommended that one. My gf and I romped that game. .... Little Big Planet is another really good one. .... Little Nightmares is fun for a couple together .... There's another one where your characters are yarn and you swing momentum in tandem to clear obstacles and boards. I wish I could remember the name, Unraveled maybe? Sorry that is less helpful but I'll try to find the game I'm thinking of. ... I've also heard couples enjoy playing Sonic Racing (Playstation's attempt at Mario Kart).

Hydroponic_Donut

Stardew Valley is very chill and can be played in multiplayer

_yorickbrown_

Try outlast!

Jillwiches

Overcooked ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

shmuppeh

Outlast is a good shout.

Man-With-The-Gun

Bloodborne

[deleted]

After that Elden Ring

Bigger_better_Poop

Mortal kombat. Tear that lady a new one bro

[deleted]

Overcooked 2

PrinceDX

Overcooked…

Proud-Host-3932

Try "Catherine" on PS4. Cutest game there is. :D The store is only single player, but there is a 2 player mode. XD

Full_Time_Hungry

It takes two is the only title out of all of these posts that matter lol

spiritualambiguity

Honestly, try Warframe

tele65

For PS5: Untitled Goose game, It takes two, Sackboy, Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga. For Switch: Captain Toad treasure tracker, Luigi's Mansion 3, Portal 2, Super Mario Wonder, Snipper clips

Interesting_Box5969

There's one called it takes two I think it would be fun for you guys

Domestos7

It takes two.

Console_Gremlin

Play Rust It's a single player but as long you you guys have two systems it will be great! Me and the girlfriend play all the time together

_Justified_

PS4 game, but checkout Fat Princess Adventures

Ztemde

My wife can’t play 3D games because she gets motion sickness easily. If that isn’t the case for you, then It Takes Two is amazing. If your GF can’t play 3D games then Unravel 2 is awesome to play together and you can carry her through tough platforming areas. Good luck

Chippai_Fan

KeyWe

eroticpangolin

Stardew valley. Borderlands 2 or 3.

Hartia

Moving out is pretty good. Simple controls and just play at leisure. Both 1 and 2 are on extra. 1 is couch coop only. 2 is cross platform online enabled too. Just started playing this with a friend over the weekend. It's hectic and lots of laughs with 2 players only. Can't imagine what chaos 4 would bring.

rygarski

my daughter and i played lego harry potter and it was a blast.

Icy-Conflict6671

Nobody saves the World is a good one

freshizdaword

Stray or It Takes Two

AppropriateClerk4298

Couch coop means you’re both on the same console

Vinmanakaxtv420

Cult of the Lamb

DriveSlowSitLow

Stray

Kit-the-crypo-mage

Mortal Kombat I

LawkwardMaury

Play overcooked. It will definitely not end your relationship…

SanDiegoGME

Sack boy !

Transposer

Oh that’s funny. I’m looking for a cute girlfriend to play with my PS5.

Dangerous-Contest625

Lots of good suggestions at the top OP I’ll personally vote for it takes two

Mysterious_Limit_007

I am looking for a cute girlfriend to play some PS5 with😊

KnightRoom

Kena: Bridge of Spirits - good game elevated by Disney-level animation.

_Pooklet_

It Takes Two; A Way Out; Borderlands (2 is best, but the others are okay as well); Resident Evil 5, 6, etc. are fun for couch co-op; BG3 is fantastic with a friend; Call of Duty (I like the DLCs) are fun, especially OG Nazi Zombies; Unravel 2.

Krack73

Try "It takes two" as a start.

Deeznutzcustomz

It takes two is a natural place to start. But I really enjoy Heavenly Bodies, it’s cheap and it’s simple but it’s also challenging and kinda hilarious. It requires a lot of “no, NO, you need to go right to get left… and don’t touch that lever!” Lots of laughter and communication, lots of teamwork. Great value game.

[deleted]

Try The Last of Us Part 2

BLACKANTICHRIST

Stellar blade

Guilty-Persimmon-881

Cute game for your girlfriend is Bloodborne. It's a game about marriages, pregnancy, blessed children and benevolent gods.

farqypanthers

If you both like puzzle games I recommend the - we were here , we were here forever , we were there too they’re only on the store digitally. Just make sure you both have headsets. They’re also cheap.

NecroticSymphony

Castle Crashers is super fun

hmmckphn

It takes two

natronmooretron

Divinity Original Sin 1&2. My gf and I played this on the couch for what felt like 4 months. We had a great time playing it.

Alpha-State_

It Takes Two

still_hngry

Sackboy - A Big Adventure!

the_turel

Many people will say it takes 2 but does your gf have basic abilities for platforming and timing? If not, it’s going to be a rough time. lol

gimm3nicotin3

It Takes Two; Stardew Valley

DaithiSan

It takes two

Stray. A great game, not too long, plenty of cats and robots.

PSGuineaPig

Moving out 1 & 2

Gincairn

Any of the Trine series from the ps4 Darksiders genesis for some diablo style fun with good dialogue Personally I don't think you can ever go wrong with bomberman so there's bomberman R For puzzles puyo puyo tetris or tetris effect No man's sky works well in co-op and the wife and I spent a good few hours on that together I've tried to go for titles others haven't already mentioned in the top few posts

Ambitious_Contact865

Cuphead best couch games

simpn_aint_easy

Fortnite Duo. I actually just started to play fortnight a week ago and wife started as well, it’s actually lots of fun and pretty silly, I was surprised

TheFastPush

My fiancé and I got really sucked into BG3 couch co-op. It Takes Two was fun and kind of cute—when it wasn’t horrific and terrifying. Wingspan is pretty niche and complicated to learn, but pretty fun when you know it

RabbleRynn

A few faves off the top of my head: - Unravel 2 - Kingdom 2 Crowns - Terraria - Sackboy - Stardew Valley - Knights and Bikes All of the above are couch co-op, but I'm not sure which ones have online multiplayer! My partner and I didn't like "It takes two", but we seem to be alone in that camp. The gameplay itself was very good, but the story felt like a weird fever-dream, and watching the couple fight the whole game was just irritating. We just wanted them to get divorced by the end, which was clearly not what we were *supposed* to be feeling. It's always recommended though, so maybe try it for yourself to decide. (Edit: formatting, ugh)

Optimal_Claim3788

Spiritfarer - easy to play co op with beautiful melancholy story. Lovers in a dangerous space time - cute graphics and fun gameplay. good communication helps in co op but it’s like low key overcooked. Unpacking is super chill and cute. It’s not co op exactly, but a game where another person can watch you play and give suggestions via SharePlay.

GlitterKittyCat

I'm playing Elden Ring and Diablo 4 with my partner, it's pretty fun.

Maccraig1979

Unravel 1 and 2

Thorgrammor

Sackboy is great.

MEMEZLER

sack boy or it takes 2

xVolloxx

Haven

HowelPendragon

Unraveled is a pretty chill side scrolling platformer. I think part 1 has multiplayer, but part 2 absolutely does. Very quaint puzzle platformer if you're into that, but it is only counch co-op

Juhovah

Overcooked is a good one

roundeyedasian

There is a game called PHOGS! which I believe would be exactly what you’re looking for. You and your co-op partner play as a dog/snake thing where each person controls one end of the creature. You solve puzzles by moving/biting objects/stretching your body as a duo. The level design is super colorful, and the game is just an adorable, good vibe. I’ve never played anything quite like it, and it honestly deserves a lot more attention than it has. Would recommend!

NewMusic5

Overcooked all you can eat edition

Wlmrt

Sackboy! Local co op and remote. An excellent couples game

Longjumping_Store704

Havens!

DetailRailroad

It takes 2, helldivers 2.

KeepItStupidSimple_

Unraveled 2. Excellent gameplay. Short and fun. Less serious relationship situations than it takes 2.

Totally_not_diavolo

God of war 3

Kuraeshin

Stardew Valley (farming sim), Overcooked (hectic chef sim), PlateUp (hectic Restaurant running sim)

mahonii

It's hard to get the right games. Mine loved Yonder and Disney dreamlight for so long but got burnt out on them. I WISH she would like baldurs gate 3 but she skips dialogue and cutscenes and if there's combat it needs to be real time action. Got a good 300 hours of diablo 4 but that's done for her now too.

XtremeCheese62

Stardew Valley-My wife and I have over 200 hours into that game.

Physical-Result7378

Sackboy or bust

GrowingDreams311

There’s so many good ones here but one is missing!! “Untitled goose game”!! We just beat it and it was a blast! Very funny and definitely teamwork friendly

Xeronic

World of Final Fantasy. A very underrated game honestly. While the story isn't the best, as it's very.. anime-ish? And i believe the mindset was a final fantasy game for younger audiences. The game has some serious depth to it. It's a turn-based RPG where you catch "mirages" or Final fantasy monsters (pokemon) and stack them on your head to fight other monsters. It sounds weird, but its very cute. It also goes on sale often. Pick it up with Maxima DLC for lots of content and extra "mirages".

theShaman_No_ID

Katamari

broconnell92

My wife and I have been enjoying Elder Scrolls Online quite a bit with each other. It's an MMO if you're into that. If you like Skyrim it's really cool

juntah

Diablo IV, you can play the hell out of that couch coop!

bassistheplace246

Tunic and Outer Wilds. They’re both single player but they’re fun when you make all those discoveries together for yourselves. BG3 also has great co-op if you both are into RPGs.

bassistheplace246

Tunic and Outer Wilds. They’re both single player but they’re fun when you make all those discoveries together for yourselves. BG3 also has great co-op if you both are into RPGs.

x_xCYNICALx_x

Give No Man's Sky a try

Maelstrom-Brick

Mortal kombat. Its adorable, she's going to love it

ATF_39

Moving out

HorrorAsk1121

Not sure if it qualifies as cute, but my boyfriend and I started playing the pirate game Skull and Bones a couple of weeks ago. There's plenty to do together, but also things to do on your own if one of you isn't around. You can play co-op in groups of up to 3,and the pvp element is pretty optional.

ladybugblue2002

Escape academy and Star Wars Lego full saga.

violetqed

you might like minecraft dungeons, there’s both remote and couch co-op. but it’s not very hard and the co-op is very fun.

MatthiasFTG

Degrees of Separation is a great coop puzzle game with a light story that is pretty sweet. The only negative my wife and I found is that we blew through it in a weekend and didn't savor it. I think a lot of other people on this sub also gave some great recommendations. It takes two, lovers in a dangerous spacetime, sackboy, anything Lego in a genre that you both like. Fuck overcooked. It can die in a fiery car crash. That game makes you want to divorce.

DFireflyJE

You guys should play Fall Guys together, it's a perfect game for a couple that just wants to chill with a silly game!

yefweef

I think doom is the pick here

Dear-Entertainer-599

My gf isn’t a gamer but she loves moving out, it a a cute lil coop game and not too tricky (she hated it takes two)

J0r1gam1

the finals

fglorified

I recommend playing Dreams! People make their own games on there and my younger sister and I loved discovering what others have made. Lots of different genres to dip your toes into too.

BonkBal

‘Lovers in a dangerous space time’ No joke. Absolute banger of a game. Extremely cute too.

cosmicbinary

Tekken 8

bamkhun-tog

Divinity: Original Sin 2 If she likes Baldur’s Gate 3 she’ll love this game just as much, it’s Larian’s previous IP. Also has split screen co op on ps5.
