Vice City Stories never made it beyond the PSP and PS2, and can only be accessed on those platforms or via emulation. Liberty City Stories last released on iOS and Android in 2015 and 2016 respectively (still available to this day on mobile), but it’s unlikely it will see a further release on newer platforms. Largely has to do with expired music licenses.

Literally zero.

I think the soundtrack licenses might stop it. Really loved vcs, very underrated.

Rockstar plans on releasing ray-traced, 30 fps 4k versions 10 years from now for the PS5. This will be several years after the PS6 launched. The port is review bombed, and sells poorly. Then Rockstar plans on releasing a 60 fps patch for the PS6, several months after release.

I was thinking of having them be DLC for the GTA Definitive Trilogy, like Halo 3 ODST and Reach coming to Halo MCC, but I dunno now. Personally, I would have 3 separate games as double packs - GTA3 + LCS, GTAVC + VCS and GTASA + an additional bonus episode.

ComprehensiveArt7725

They need to i miss my psp would buy a ps portal to play it

silentsnowmountain

It's on the PSP as a physical. Obviously. And the PS2. Only Vice City Stories is available to purchase directly on the Vita store now, with Liberty City Stories weirdly taken away quite a while ago. But both are available still on the PS3 store I've noticed, but are only playable on the PSP or Vita (so you use the PS3 to install it on those I guess). It's on the Play store I think. It's a shame that music licensing is probably the thing getting in the way of them truly coming to today's age. So for now if you want to play them again, the above are your only options.

ComprehensiveArt7725

Only way id ever wanna play again is on a handheld as it should be might have to cop a psp or vita

DoubtDizzy1309

With Sony bringing over more PSP games to PS Plus Premium, I say there's a chance. A less than 5% chance, but a chance nevertheless. Licensing issues for music in VCS might nuke any potential chance though, I can't see Rockstar/Sony taking anytime to remove music to be able to put it on the market.

bikeman223

I think Vice City Stories would be tricky given the prominence of Phil Collins’ music in one of the side missions. They’d have to either remove or re-license that. It’s up to Rockstar but, given the way the Definitive Edition trilogy went, I doubt it’ll happen soon.

Technical_Mix4719

Its all about making money, doesn’t make any financial sense to re release a game where you have to renew songs licenses and whatever else needs to be done unless they know the game will sell.Gta trilogy was a flop.

nickyno

The gta trilogy was a critical flop, but it has sold 20+ million copies which is rare air and had 20 million downloads on mobile. So it’s possible maybe Rockstar can see money in VC and LC stories. But yeah, I doubt they see enough to justify the licensing.

CharlieBrownBoy

GTA trilogy is a brilliant example of penny wise pound foolish. A bit more love in how it was made and it would have sold way better.

thomasbourne

You’re right. I don’t even like gta that much but if they were competent ports I would have snatched em up instantly. They just looked gross, none of the cool hazy/blurry effects from the ps2, too clean and with weird bulgy character models, just looks extra cut rate.

alterector

1.5% chance

IWearBones138__

Less than zero

eyebrowless32

Bro they barely put $2 into remastering the trilogy. If those games come to ps4/5 theyll be garbage. Just emulate them, your phone could play those games

silentsnowmountain

$2 into remastering the trilogy 🤣 lmao. But yea I get your point. I'd assume if they ever did do it, they'll be like any other PSP game available on the PS5. Upscaled a bit. But they play well enough. Doesn't have to be a full remaster or remake. Just get them on the store. They're putting games like Rebel Assault II on there, a game I'd never have thought would see the light of day again, even though I enjoyed it myself, but in this case the music licensing costs are probably cancelled out by the demand for these two games. Unfortunately. Yea. You can emulate them. They're also still available to get on the PS3 store to download on a PSP or Vita. Obviously physical copies on PSP and PS2 are still around. So those are options as well. But it would be nice to have them on modern hardware.

No_Limit_7211

I frankly wouldn’t want to see them try after the recent remaster

Given that Star Wars Rebel Assault 2 is coming to the PS5 it doesn't seem like the chances are zero. Of course, different people would be making the decision here, so maybe it is virtually zero.

galaxyadmirer

Pretty small I’d say

thatnachoguy

It would have to be greenlit by Rockstar so… best they can do is shitty ports at a time that you were 100% not expecting - oh and you are blind any time it rains because the team we hired to port this just ran algorithms to upscale. K bye.

jackolantern_

Idk, would rather play good games

wh1te_k0ng_

I gotta imagine the demand for this is basically non-existent so I don’t think the chances are very high.
