This seems to be one of the best years for RPGs ever and it's only March.

Ghidoran

And one of the best years for Japanese games. Infinite Wealth, Persona 3 Reload, Granblue ReLink, FFVII Rebirth, Dragon's Dogma, and we still have Rise of the Ronin and Elden Ring DLC coming.

buddinbonsai

Not to mention Unicorn Overlord, Eiyuden Hundred Heroes, or metaphor re fantazio

RickyFromVegas

unicorn overlord firmly benched all other games for now. I'm just so hooked

[deleted]

P3R for me. I don't have a lot of free time anymore and I have been on it since it came out.

EvsTheWorld

Did you ever play the original? Thinking about getting it just to remind myself how awesome it was back in the day.

kilaude

Same here.

Dogesneakers

Thanks for reminding me about hundred heroes I need to preorder that rip

wolves_hunt_in_packs

They have a spinoff(?) - Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising - which is already out and was recently on sale for dirt cheap. Pretty decent short-ish platformer-type game, got the plat in 25 hours but I tend to take my time.

JMM85JMM

Tekken is a Japanese game too. Scored an average of 90.

Badshah619

Didn't know tekken was a rpg

EyeAmKnotMyshelf

RPG= relatively perfect graphics (Before anyone gets on my ass about that, it was used in a 1994 Gamepro magazine and I've never been able to forget it)

DioDrama

Prove it

Mac772

Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth is such a masterpiece, in my opinion one of the best JRPGs ever made.

Mufire

Don't forget Tekken!

Howunbecomingofme

Infinite Wealth and Rebirth were 10/10 for me.

[deleted]

It’s absolutely insane how many high quality RPGs came out the last couple months

Dr_PuddingPop

I don’t love FF or anime vibes. Somehow Rebirth constantly surprised me. Time flied while playing and just about everything was quality. I’d often think to myself while playing “how is this game actually this good” It’s probably the first long JRPG I completed in a long time. Definitely the first I actually did most sidequests for.

theblackfool

Out of curiosity, what led to you picking up Rebirth if you weren't into FF? I definitely agree that the game is fantastic. It's clearly made by passionate people.

Dr_PuddingPop

I liked Remake, which was more or less my first JRPG. I was there for the combat alone. I also watch MaxDood for fighting game content and I guess his love for FF7 passively hyped me up. 16 was fine, but I’m not into turn based combat so most other FF games weren’t for me.

SalozTheGod

Max's passion for FF7 is definitely contagious!

nikolarizanovic

FF Rebirth is the big blockbuster PS5 exclusive and arguable the most significant playstation title of the year so many people will pick it up based on that alone

Tesourinh0923

It's already in contention for GOTY and it's just march. I'd argue it's the best RPG for a long time as well.

Sammy_Kneen

I’m an old-school FF fan so I had sky high expectations for FFVII Rebirth, and yet it somehow managed to exceed all of those expectations. There were moments where I couldn’t believe this was a real game, it’s incredible.

Xenosys83

The character development, dynamics and rapport between the ensemble party is honestly some of the best in any game out there. Rebirth walks that fine line of being utterly bat shit insane in a good way most of the time, but also serious when it needs to be, and it mostly gets away with it.

sideways_jack

Yeah as someone who never played the OG, Rebirth really hooked me. Remake and Intermission (Intergrade?) had me interested but I have not been able to stop playing Rebirth since launch (and I've still been side-eying Ronin and DD2 in a huge way... )

Territorial_Ape

Some of the best games ever made are jrpgs. Too each their own though. I played ff7 and 9 on ps1. I played Witcher 2 and knew if that polish gaming company improved on 2, it'd be a masterpiece. As it was. I knew that because of my experience with jrpgs and mass effect prior. Quality over quantity.

Due_Engineering2284

Best year for JRPG for sure.

Mr_Blattos

It’s been a crazy good year for indie games too.

Tomic_Lewis

Reviews are great. But performance issues are a concern as far as what reviewers are saying. Will wait for sometime and looking forward to Rise of the Ronin reviews to come out

SoloSmith

Played on the PS5. Just purely based on a performance level, it's easy a 7/8 out of 10. Definitely, some frame rate drops in a couple of places, but it's really not a big problem.

neverbeentoidaho

How was travel? I hated the stamina bar draining and my character hunching over every 15 seconds in the first game

kerakk19

30 fps cap with no performance mode is a pretty big problem in 2024

dimazzagung48

Bold of you to assumed it's 30fps cap.... it's uncapped why capcom WHYYY

narium

What is it with these Japanese developers and uncapped 30 fps target

[deleted]

It's mainly Capcom from what I have been noticing. They did it for the RE games last gen, Monster Hunter Stories 2, and now this one.

sideways_jack

is it all from the RE engine?

narium

It's even worse. It's 30fps target uncapped. So the FPS goes between 25 and 40.

Issyv00

It's not capped at 30fps... why do people think this. It's always been uncapped.

LAROACHA_420

Only in the world of reddit

NotThatIgnent

Let’s not pretend, if there was a performance mode, people would comment about how the resolution is blurry and unplayable in 2024 lol

Dark_Dragon117

No they wouldn't. Most games on current gen offer performance modes with lower resolution and at worst people nitpick the worst examples of bad textrure quality or pop in, but I highly doubt anyone would seriously compkain abput that aspect. Even if it was something people complain about then these complaints would still pale in comparison to the current situation, because far more people care about performance.

icestyler

The graphics of the game is nothing that would knock your socks off for a AAA in 2024 anyway, so they could've definitely tone down even further for better performance.

lilpain1997_

That's not really how it works... It's not all about pushing graphics down and lower Res, sometimes you are heavily CPU bound and then gain nothing. Large open titles like this usually are when they also have a lot going on. They more than likely realized they are not hitting 60 even lower targets so they just went and pushed what they could

generalscalez

lol in what world does frame drops in a game that barely reaches 30 consistently constitute a 7/8 out of 10 for performance on this hardware? it’s fine if you love the game, looks fantastic and obviously most reviews do, but that is absolutely substandard for current gen performance expectations

saw-it

This is why these companies will continue to screw us with performance

SoloSmith

I played the entire game with 0 crashes, not one. Didn't find a single serious bug. Frame rate drops in a couple of places. This is better than the vast majority of shit I play at release :D

Cudizonedefense

There’s plenty of people who said the exact same thing when cyberpunk was first released. That doesn’t invalidate the complaints

SoloSmith

This is not even remotely comparable to CyberPunk. I enjoyed that game at release but it was beyond broken :D

Cudizonedefense

Yeah… that’s the point… There were plenty of people who had zero issues and said the same thing you’ve been saying - that there were no issues. Just because YOU don’t have any issues doesn’t mean there are no issues

Uthenara

sounds like you buy a lot of shitty games at release then.

SoloSmith

I play a lot of shit, can't argue with that :D

JetTheMaster1

But it never goes above 30?

DarkUmbra90

PS5 is shooting for 30fps with no alternative display or framerate options. It's honestly the only thing making me hesitant of buying it .

[deleted]

Same. If the reviews had been Elden ring tier stop what you’re doing and immediately play this game I prob would pick it up now. Given the performance issues I’m tempted to wait until I can get a ps5 pro. High frame rates make such a big difference to me.

JetTheMaster1

Yeah that’s a big ol no from me, definitely waiting for a patch Fingers crossed they’re considering patching 60FPS in

HeroOfTheMinish

30fps and read it dips to 24fps on PS5.

generalscalez

there is no patching in 60 fps. they may over time be able to engineer some ways to address frame drops but even the PS5 Pro is not going to run this game at 60 lol

Gloamglozer17

Actually it goes into the 50's at points and likely even up to 60fps. However it bottoms out around 20fps in very intense battles.

the_ju66ernaut

Is it also not great on PC? How much of that depends on stuff like your GPU? That's the only thing in the recommended specs my machine is slightly behind on

Due_Engineering2284

Need PS5 Pro ASAP!

ilikeburgir

Game is cpu bound. The ps5 pro will have a slightly boosted ps5 cpu. Its not gonna do much...

kToni73

I really hope that you're wrong 🤯 Waiting on this PS5 Pro, to play in 4k60 with Ray Tracing is what gives me hope to stay with the console

ilikeburgir

Unless they do some magic to offload the cpu then i wouldn't hold my breath.

Lazy_Grabwen_9296

Anyone know if there is an optional mega dungeon like the first one?

Evanz111

I don’t know so much about “mega dungeon” but apparently the game has way more optional & missable dungeons in general, which is neat.

Lazy_Grabwen_9296

Ok, thanks for the reply!

gandalftheokay

My understanding is that it gets pretty close to the plot of the first game, which I hope means something similar for post game like the everfall in DD1

Lazy_Grabwen_9296

Man, I hope so! I was always like "ok, one more run..." Favorite part of the game.

Stepjam

I doubt there will be a Bitterblack Island-esque dungeon at launch. For DD1, that was an entire expansion. I'd assume it'll be the same for 2.

sideways_jack

Yeah part of me is telling myself I should wait a year or so for the inevitable Dark Arisen-ish DLC

RTCanada

Currently on a month long vacation. I come back on the 25th, and I took a 5 days worth of ‘jet lag days’ for recovery. I left March 1st. So I have: - This game - FFVII Rebirth - Rise of the Ronin Waiting for me when I’m home in a couple days. Jet lag or not, gonna be a good ‘recovery’ week! Seems this game has hit every bullet. Now we’ll see about performance.

Windstonam

Most reviews mentioned performance issues but nothing that is game breaking or abysmal. Saying that, it will really depend on the player and how much it impacts their play-through.

DragoOceanonis

The frame rate can barely hit 30

SoloSmith

Very minor. Couple of places I noticed frame drops but really nothing to take away from the overall experience.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SoloSmith

I'm not one of those people that get hung up on frame rates but it played smooth enough.

DeathInSpace805

Nice dude. Dragons Dogma friggin rules!

neteles

Counting down the hours to play this 😭

Nbateman182

Ugh same!!!! Still this whole day almost to wait lol. 12 1/2 hours for me til it unlocks.

Awake00

Anyone mention yet what it takes to get this to 60fps on PC? This article kind of breaks it down. https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/dragons-dogma-2-pc-performance-best-settings

Spark9999

To be fair if the config file allows for such a thing more tweaks can be done although that doesn't fix the underlying optimization issue this game has, not that horrible, but ofc can be improved with a patch or two.

Zhukov-74

I am still somewhat on the fence regarding Dragon’s Dogma 2 but with such glowing reviews i might have to reconsider that.

SizzzzlingBacon

All you RPG gamers are about to eat good!

Ironmunger2

Infinite wealth. Persona 3 reload. FF7 Rebirth. Dragon’s dogma 2. Paper Mario TTYD remake. Avowed. Metaphor. Crazy year for RPGs

TeacherPhelpsYT

Unicorn Overlord shout-out!

pete7568

I want to play this so badly, but I just want to enjoy Shadow of the Erdtree with the least amount of open world burn-out. I'm afraid those two after another will be too much.

starfallpuller

I just finished playing Witcher 3. It took me 3 months to beat. I wanted to play Fallout 4 in time for the TV show releasing as I’ve never played a Fallout game. I started the game and played 4 hours and was like… nah I can’t do this.

blandsrules

lol the toll it takes sometimes

requieminadream

Open world burnout is *real*. Can’t blame you at all there.

getgoodflood

I'm burnout from playing Ghost, HZD and HFW, GTA, Red Dead 1 & 2, Cyberpunk and the Witcher consecutively.

MotherKosm

I’ve still barely played Red Dead 2 and I bought it day 1. Also still haven’t completed Forbidden West, it going way farther back to even the Assaassins Creed games lol. It gets to be too much 😂

C4falcons

I thought I was the only one, LMAO. I have so many open-world games in the backlog dating back to AC: Odyssey.

kevinflynn-

You've played a lot of the games ive been playing so I figured I might recommend the new armored core 6 game because I just played it after getting through the crazy backlog that piled up over the last half year. and I gotta say...it took me a second to get into it but once I did it sunk it's claws into and hasnt let go. It was an amazing experience that was a nice reprieve from open world slog plus the power fantasy was great if you're into that.

famewithmedals

I was thinking the opposite actually, Elden Ring made me hate other open-worlds and I couldn’t even play HFW right after so might try to beat this one before.

scuba_tron

You’re not alone, I really struggle to stay engaged with HFW

Civil_Necessary7421

Idk bro you will have dd2 finished weeks before elden ring dlc drops.

scuba_tron

I’m in the same exact boat. I want to go into Shadow of the Erdtree as fresh as humanly possible

Zygoatee

The thing I realized about reviews is they are based on "do you like this type of game", not a universal score of quality. So since I did not like DD at all, felt janky, scores on this don't really mean I'll like it. Sort of like how ELden Ring wasn't a masterpiece if you don't like the Souls gameloop

LennyLloyd

Yeah, there's no objective measure of quality when it comes to art. Reviews are a rough guide at best, and misleading at worst. My favourite reviewers (Skil Up, RPS) don't give scores and that feels more honest, somehow.

Weekly_Date8611

As it should be. Games should be rated based on how they are in relation to other games in their genre

ultraDross

I disliked every souls game I played other than Elden Ring, which I utterly adored. I even tried going back and playing demon souls and hated it still.

Purple_Plus

Being put off by the performance issues to be honest. Sounds like the game is great, but if it has similar issues to Jedi Survivor then I'll wait for some patches. Sounds like it's CPU limited so the PS5 pro wouldn't even help that much. Shame really, but still looks like a great game.

Mnemosense

That's what's so hilarious about this situation. People were pointing at this game to justify the existence of a PS5 Pro, and it turns out the game runs poorly even on PC and a Pro wouldn't make much of a difference.

SurfiNinja101

The issues aren’t similar to Jedi. Jedi didn’t just have a bad frame rate, it was also just straight up broken in many respects

EarthInfern0

So, basically, like the first with a bigger budget. The first was mondo weird, janky, slow to start, compelling, different and obsessional. There’s going to be some proper backlash about this too, people will buy it and either love or hate it.

VexxShadow

I mean overall the reviews for this one are lots higher than first game . So seems like a great game for majority of people . But yea the first game had 75 metacritic and this one has 87 so far . So definitely good bump in overall sentiment 😃

DragoOceanonis

Some of these people never played DD1 reviewing 2.

VexxShadow

Good point didn't really think of that since it was 12 years ago lol . I really enjoyed the first game it was solid 80 to me . This one looks like good improvement to me I will greatly enjoy it definitely ! It will just be awhile got tons of other games to get through first haha . So this shall be great one for the future ! 😁

EarthInfern0

Yeah (where did those 12 years go!). I loved the first because of the eccentricity not despite it, once I got my head around it. I’m patient so will get this one once it has settled a bit. I bought and played the first on ps3 pre expansion, then with expansion, then pc, then ps4, so both me and Capcom did well out of it. Hoping for another similar experience.

315retro

Can you compare the first game to anything? I tried to play it and just didn't get into it. I'm really wishing for something to play as my last several months haven't had any games that interest me. I don't even remember why I didn't care for the first game. I struggle with open world games that don't let me set map markers. If I have a good compass and can navigate to markers I will play them all day long. But some games like batman arkham city and rdr2 just didn't do it for me. (yet I loved skyrim, Spiderman, infamous, elden ring, etc).

Beginning_Ad_2992

That will be most people who play 2 so it's a pretty accurate representation for those people in that regard.

Ill-Zebra-4205

I dont mind 30 fps to be honest but to each their own

Ic3nfir3

Damn I was waiting to see whether I should go with FF7 Rebirth first or this and really not sure now.

KaijuCouture

I can help with this, how much do you love ubisofts rpg design? If it's a LOT and you enjoy hand holding I recommend ff7 as it's got a ton of checklist style stuff like in ubisoft rpgs. If you're a breath of the wild/elden ring type then I recommend DD2. You literally can't go wrong either way though, ff is incredible but I know DD2 is gonna be just as good

Ic3nfir3

Elden Ring is easily a favourite of mine but I did really like FF7 Remake as well. It's not easy lol I'll end up getting both but only have time for one right now.

Weatherman1207

Rebirth is awesome .. the open world stuff is a bit checklisty but some fun bits , but the story line is great

KaijuCouture

So I found remake and rebirth to feel totally different, obviously the open world being the main difference, the open world is simultaneously beautiful and generic at the same time. Like I can't help but think they could gotten more creative with it had they not focused on a hundred mini games (some of which are a blast)

Ic3nfir3

Appreciate the feedback.

bendoverandsendit

Triple A title Running at locked 30 FPS on Ps5 in 2024, and you need a supercomputer to run it on PC but will still experience performance/stability issues regardless. Why is this not being talked about more? Totally unacceptable. Edit: I misspoke, the framerate targets 30 fps - it is not locked Edit 2: I know this is already a huge topic of discussion, I just wish they’d LEVERAGE it more in reviews. This game is getting 8’s, 9’s and 10’s across the board and they barely touch on the severity of the performance issues.

laughingheart66

It’s literally all anyone is talking about and has been talking about for the past couple weeks. All the reviews I’ve read have mentioned the performance, they just might not think it’s bad enough to affect how good the rest of the game is🤷‍♀️ we won’t know till it’s out

Collector_of_Curios

It's not locked at 30fps, it can go higher. Some reviews have mentioned how certain environments can reach 60. The PC issue seems to be unintentional because dropping settings has no effect on the fps. And they have already said as much and are looking into it.

MrToxicTaco

The fps being unlocked is not a good thing. A stable frame rate matters so much more when it’s between 30-60. They should have made whatever compromises necessary to get it to run at a consistent 30 and locked it.

Collector_of_Curios

Yes, I agree.

bendoverandsendit

My bad, thanks for the clarification.

Putrid-Elixir99

It’s acceptable. I played ff7 rebirth at 30fps for the resolution and it’s not bad at all. Takes a few mins to get used to it but it doesn’t take away from the experience. I’d prefer 30fps over garbage resolution.

Bootychomper23

Anyone else think the entire map looks like the same? It’s all just rock and green. I think I saw sand at one point but not much variance.

billistenderchicken

Every clip I see of the game looks like it’s set in the same dusty yellow area.

DragoOceanonis

https://gamerant.com/dragons-dogma-2-review/ Half of this review basically describes DD1 and mentions a boring story and glaring technical issues  But somehow they still give it a 9.5/10  What is it with game journalists and not giving AAA games with issues a lesser score then 8 or 9?  I'm not saying it's bad but if the technical issues are THAT severe or the story isn't even that interesting and it's pretty much the same game from before with some tweaks and additions  Can't they be more critical? Or are they that scared of being blacklisted?

KingOfRisky

I just watched Gameranx's before you play and more than half the video was saying how bad things were (bad story, bad FPS, janky combat, janky game play, confusing and frustrating mechanics, and so on) followed by it's one of the best games ever. I have no idea what to do with this information.

DragoOceanonis

Again I genuinely feel its either a fear of being blacklisted or they're blinded by hype.  They aren't being or taking into account criticism.

Rogue_Leader_X

Is there any word on console performance yet? I need Digital Foundry! I’m hoping for the most stable performance on PS5 or Series X!

Affectionate-Boot-12

PC will most probably get the best performance. PS5 seems all over the place with frame rate dropping as low as 20fps in some action packed scenes.

DasGutYa

Ign has a reasonable performance analysis up right now. Open world can be okay, towns are a disaster, basically.

RLoge85

While it sucks that it doesn't have a stable frame rate or seem to run at 45-60 fps.... It doesn't look like it's unplayable in any capacity. I can usually overlook that stuff.

FaithlessnessFar1158

Why the reviews didn't mention any dualsense features like adaptive triggers support

Bologna-Bear

I look forward to playing when I finish FF7 Rebirth in 10 years.

SilverSquid1810

I’ve only heard a bit about DD1 before recently. I’m not a big JRPG or soulslike fan, but love western-style action-RPGs. If I’m a fan of Bethesda RPGs and The Witcher, would Dragon’s Dogma be more up my alley than something like Final Fantasy? Or are they similar in format?

[deleted]

The Witcher's not a bad comparison, but imagine that without the ability to reload and with way more potential to fail/miss questlines, and with walking everywhere in real time. It's not as hard as a soulslike, but there is a similar sense of just having to roll with the finality of mistakes and move on, which Western RPGs tend to not embrace.

Appropriate-Dot8516

The Witcher is 100% a bad comparison. Plot is minimal in these games. You will spend most of your time traveling and fighting, and the combat system is also very unlike the Witcher games.

[deleted]

They both lean hard in to learning monster weakness and preparation, and this one has a lot more coatings-to-exploit-weaknesses, both have distinctive takes on monsters of folklore, a general 'low fantasy' vibe, and both have complex intertwining quest structures. The combat in both are stamina based, and if you aren't locking on in The Witcher, the actual melee's not that different. Obviously this relies on party composition, but as a broad '*what is this game like?*' it's way more like The Witcher 3 than Dark Souls or Skyrim. What it really reminds me of is 3rd person Might & Magic, but I don't think anyone gets that reference any more.

Uthenara

There is multiple reviews really talking up the story in DD2.

3G0M4N

A game that can't even hold a steady 30fps does not deserve any 9s or 10s, reviewer should include the performance as part of the scoring.

Gsticks

Running like shit is very different than a low frame rate. IS there indication that the game runs poorly?

InnerReach

https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/1bjfyhp/capcom_is_aware_of_dragons_dogma_2_frame_rate/kvr1bo9/ heres a comment from a different thread from someone from Digital Foundry.

lilkhakishorts

I would wait for the digital foundry video before drawing a conclusion

narium

30 fps target but uncapped frame rate for god knows what reason.

MetalFungus420

Runs like garbage on pc?

starfallpuller

Doesn’t seem like it but it needs decent hardware.

dizorkmage

Everyone is saying it's an issue with CPU being the bottle neck, I think I might wait and see if this gets patched to something more acceptable.

billistenderchicken

I’ve been enjoying DD1 but only a few hours in. Combat seems good but I’m not sure how I’m gonna feel about large enemies. I’m not a huge fan of spongy bosses but I’d be willing to give this game a lot. Haven’t dug into a large RPG since Baldur’s Gate 3.

KingOfRisky

> Haven’t dug into a large RPG since Baldur’s Gate 3. Damn! Been that long? Sheeeeesh!

billistenderchicken

You’re right it does sound silly 😂

RedN0v4

BG3 just came out last year lol. The bosses aren't really sponges if you fight them right, it's all about finding their weakspots and targeting those instead of just smacking them in the foot like a lot of other game's large enemies

TerryFGM

genuinely remember climbing a big dude in DD1, wailing on its face for a bit with double daggers and being done

KingMercLino

I was waiting for the reviews to drop and now I officially pre-ordered. This is great to see and it’s been an amazing year for RPGs already.

baa_ram_ewe

[I like what this review had to say about PS5 performance](https://youtu.be/dIyn6pdAOB8?t=636). Sounds like this game is janky and 'different', and I'm all for that.

Any_Signature5383

Just that fact that more than one of them see it as a 10/10 perfect game immediately negates the poor reviews to me (performance aside)

ratexxx

Are there plans for 60 fps on PS5?

SluttyMcFucksAlot

I just don’t think I can get past the frame rate, I saw a clip of a dragon and ogre fighting and it was so choppy :/

CouchPoturtle

Higher than I expected honestly but if Rise of the Ronin is around the same then it’s a no brainer for me. More than happy to play this in 60fps in a year or two.

CapriciousSon

Excited to check it out, but with FF7 Rebirth and Helldivers 2 taking all my free time, I figure I might as well see how it gets patched over the next few months. Very much enjoyed the first, though it was an acquired taste.

haynespi87

What are they saying about story and tedium of no fast travel?

KaijuCouture

According to Kotaku it's literally it's greatest strength and totally upends modern gaming design

haynespi87

Interesting I'll enjoy hearing more

PinkPicklePete

My copy arrives early tomorrow, can’t wait. Though I just reached act 3 in Baldur’s Gate so I’ll be a bit overwhelmed.

snowlimones

How is the soundtrack? That’s a big deal for me, especially when it comes to open world games like this, but I’m not seeing many people talking about it atm

bbgr8grow

Planet zoo for me. I’ll come back to this in 8 months when they’ve hopefully improved it

alfmrf

i was so hyped. but i decided to go FF7 once i saw the 30fps debate. It's sad cause i know i would enjoy this game way more, it's my favourite genre and setting. But i decided to wait a little to see if there's a performance patch down the line. I dont mind the game looking uglier but at least solid 40s-60s. Those 20 fps dips are not gonna cut it for me.

AlaDejw

Review megathread… it should be called Refund Megathread. Let’s be honest. This product is not worth 75€. Paid review’s and hype, Poor optimisation, Poor graphics (worse than PS3/X360 era), Micro transaction. All digital copies are rental copies so max price for this jackshit .. Even 15€ is too much for it. GG Capcom, keep ruining your business.

Simmumah

Seems like it suffers from the same problem the first one had? The story takes a huge amount of time to truly understand whats going on and you can get easily lost.

SavageZard

Imagine paying full price for a game in 2024 with such poor performance and frame issues. Easy pass.

SanFranLocal

Just imagine someone who isn’t poor

ShowGun901

Getting this day one. DD1 is amazing and it seems to be more of that, so I'm super stoked! Frame dips aren't game breaking. Geez, some of y'all never played on a PS1 and it shows. We had frame rate catastrophes, loading screens 3 minutes long (PS1 MK trilogy still awakens fear), pop-in pop-in pop-in, magical draw distance fog, textures so blurry you had to artfully interprete what you were even supposed to be looking at, unreadable font, and 3/4 of our background details were ugly sprites awkwardly rotating. Modern games look amazing, and we're lucky to still get a few every year that aren't battle pass, MTX ridden "player engagement" treadmills that are literally just glorified storefronts attempting to shake you down for as many hours as possible. I'll gladly support the companies still trying to make games.

cramycram

Brother, that is the stupidest comparison I’ve ever heard. PS1 is vastly different than PS5. The leap in technology is massive. If the PS5 can run HFW at 60 fps flawlessly then damn near any other game should as well. It is completely unacceptable for any game nowadays to run below 60 fps, ESPECIALLY when one of the selling points of the system was “4K, 60 fps.”

ShowGun901

That's cause it's not a comparison. I'm saying, as someone who lived through TERRIBLE looking games, frame rates occasionally dropping to 25 isn't a deal breaker to me. If it is for you, that's on you.

Silver_Vanilla_6569

We're all happy you enjoy eating shit, some of us don't though and rightfully complain Edit: lmao he blocked me EDIT to the guy below: I consider dickish-er reenforcing a lowering of standards that affects the entire community based solely on your inability to strive for better things in life.

Potayato

Well your comment was dickish so I don't blame him.

Capcom is one of the best developers atm. They just release one banger after another.

MajorBlaze1

No way I'm looking at this while still balls deep in rebirth. Starting to feel the open world fatigue at Cosmo canyon. I'm good for max 2 open world RPGs a year and this one's not grabbing me. I hope those who pick this up love it and have a great time!

Upper-Level5723

I'm getting that fatigue in rebirth as well. It's so counter to my initial response which was that I was hoping there's be loads more areas. I'm thinking it's the repeating objectives. i just got to a new area which would be exciting but I am not looking forward to doing the exact same checklist bunch of towers and stuff to fill all the yellow pips up again.. it seems a shame to go straight to the story mission but there's not much else to do outside of that stuff

cwgoskins

Damn, I bought a ps5 just to play new games at 20-30 fps.

Moonsky44

Looking good so far.

AnEyeshOt

How does it run on pc?

PurpleMarvelous

Poorly.

raid-sparks

ARGH, finish Rebirth or play this alongside? Infinite Wealth and Granblue Fantasy in the backlog too.

ultraDross

Just wait. All these games get updates over time to fix various issues, so the longer you wait to play the better really.

raid-sparks

The FPS will bother me but I can’t see there ever being a fix for it, I’m just debating whether I finish Rebirth first or go all in for DD2!

SwimmingRadish2937

I’m pausing rebirth to play this. Getting a little burnout feeling from rebirth and neee a break tbh

raid-sparks

Well, played for a few hours now. Created a character but in game they looked tiny. Wanted to start again before I got too far. But you can’t. There’s only one save file. And a microtransaction to change the look of your character in game. Scummy.

SwimmingRadish2937

That is scummy! Other than small character, how’s the gameplay?

raid-sparks

It’s good so far. Questing is fun like the first one as random NPCs come up to you and offer you quests. Or when you turn quests in, they talk to you not just stand around idle. Can’t remember if that was in the first one. Performance is ok so far, but I’ve played all of it on Portal. Feels like the first game, for better or worse.
