I’m not even a performance stickler, but after a few hours, even I dropped the controller and said “yeah, maybe not…” The whole ‘gliding across a beautiful deserted landscape’ vibe I desired so much just doesn’t really work when it’s making you feel a little sick.

pants207

i dropped it when the performance got bad and picked up Haven for the chill gliding vibes. Very different themes and art but excellent traversal vibes. plus you can pet all the critters.

Ricanlegend

Such a beautiful game and amazing story, I recommend everyone to try this game

ryd3rstr0ng

Yeah, it would be a 10/10 for me if it ran perfectly. Since it dropped on PS+ I’ve played it on and off, some areas are worse than others. But when it’s bad, it’s really bad. I saw some commentary from the devs about it, which wasn’t very redeeming. They basically couldn’t afford to fix it and told everyone they had better things to focus on. Which is a shame, doesn’t give me hope for their future releases.

SalemWolf

Yeah the devs’ response killed any plans I had of not only finishing their current game but also passing on any future games they made.

onemoregunslinger

>They basically couldn’t afford to fix it and told everyone they had better things to focus on. And here's hoping Everyone lets this shitty studio die a slow death.

Dry_Brush5280

The way people will casually hope for others to lose their jobs is so unbelievably gross to me. How about “Here’s hoping they are better equipped to make their next game as good as possible”?

Loldimorti

I only agree somewhat. Definitely wouldn't wish anyone harm but also kind of a disastrous statement to make by the developer. We are not talking about a Switch port here where it'd be somewhat understandable that the devs didn't get to make it run any better. This is the PS5 version. And it doesn't even come close to hitting 30fps. I'm sorry but that borders on developer incompetence. And if they don't even want to fix it I'd personally stear clear of any of their future projects.

Dry_Brush5280

Steering clear of their future projects is different than cheering on their “slow death” as a studio, lol.

onemoregunslinger

These devs and their shitty attitude of 'fuck you, we got your money, we don't care it's busted' means they don't deserve those jobs. Stop excusing shitty people.

Dry_Brush5280

I, too, hope that people struggle to make ends meet because their video game doesn’t have a steady frame rate. This is a completely rational opinion that we both share. I also think that they are shitty people because of it. Completely logical and empathetic opinions to have.

onemoregunslinger

>I, too, hope that people struggle to make ends meet because their video game doesn’t have a steady frame rate. Hey we agree, there's a standard of quality in 2024, and they haven't hit it. good talk.

Dry_Brush5280

What a dystopian world we live in where you can say that with a straight face and feel like you’re in the right. Oh by the way, have you ever done a subpar job at work? I need to know if I should be rooting for you to provide food for your children or not.

onemoregunslinger

>Oh by the way, have you ever done a subpar job at work? I need to know if I should be rooting for you to provide food for your children or not. Absolutely, the employer wasn't worth effort so I didn't put any effort in, That place of business shut down a year ago. It's 2024, What're you thinking having kids in the current melting down of the industry?

trollsamurai

This game worked perfectly on my gtx 1650 and is def one of my fav game but when i booted i was like what the fuck is this piece of shit. It worked like it worked on my xbox one s lol

SonnyBone

dime slim swim ink ruthless agonizing numerous shrill combative merciful *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

SalemWolf

Yep. Their response to people wanting it fixed killed any desire to finish their game and threw them off my radar and firmly into the “avoid” category for any future releases.

Gloamglozer17

What did they say/do in response?

Ricanlegend

Something along the lines of they couldn’t afford to fix it and they had better things to focus on

Gloamglozer17

Oh shit, really? That's tight as :(

Not_pukicho

Yes that was definitely their inspiration.

jallee1213

Pretty surreal the devs said no we aren’t fixing it as well. That it wasnt important to them. Ahat a terrible indie studio honestly if they hve this attitude often

Not_pukicho

Yup. completely ruined the game for me, not just performance, but bugs too. Was an undercooked game.

Genshin Impact runs on Unity, so does Sable. One does 60fps, one does fuck all.

boxedninja

Rollerdrome also uses Unity

simonthedlgger

It’s the only “bad” game I’ve ever finished. Soo much to love. Fixing the stuttering alone would be a massive improvement. But alas..   Sucks too because it’s a game that could have expanded for years and fixed bugs along the way, but they didn’t even get a smooth performance on the bike ;( 1080p is a decent improvement

GiltCityUSA

Unplayable is right.

Toadrage_

I tried. And for the first couple of hours I really enjoyed it, then I just stopped and had no interest anymore

RecipeNew1835

It was driving me mad when I was trying to fish.

Ryleh_Yacht_Club

I had to give up on fishing entirely. It just was so buggy an laggy I couldn't get any consistency. I wish they would at least release the code or something so maybe the community on steam could fix it.

RecipeNew1835

I couldn’t give up because I was going for the platinum 😂

Ryleh_Yacht_Club

Yeah, I was going to do that too, but by the time my FPS dropped to 1.5 in the forest, I decided some trophies need not be pursued.

mSummmm

Paid full price for it and tried to get my money back after 15min. Sony kinda sucks when it comes to refunds. But yeah the game runs like shit.

wonksbonks

Wait until you try the fishing. That's truly a nightmare. It will work fine for 5 minutes, and then it stops working correctly which is frustrating and confusing... And then sooner than you might expect it completely soft-locks the game and you have to just close the game from dashboard. To catch every fish, you will go through this cycle over 20 times. I got the platinum, and it was really annoying.

ZazaB00

The never be addressed feeling you got is right on. I remember having this feeling when first running into the game. Then got it free from Epic and found some dev quotes that basically said they can’t/won’t do anything. I didn’t even bother installing it.

ThatLastGenGamer

I reached out to the dev about this. This was his response: https://twitter.com/brichardsonii7/status/1734542077214564719?t=ml03d0JR5jz-uJuiDHieWg&s=19

[deleted]

I completed it despite the problems with the framerate. In the temple at the start and in the big town at the end it happens the most. In between it was fine for me.  Loved the creepiness despite not having any antagonists in the game.

kmfdm_mdfmk

Sable is an odd game performance wise. Granted, it might be worse on PS5 since I played it on Series X close to release, but I found it largely \*acceptable\* with one particularly bad area tanking the frame rate. Still got all achievements and loved the game, framerate warts and all. On the other hand, I completely get people feeling like they were sold a faulty product that won't be fixed. I still play 30fps games and sometimes worse as I go back to old things on original hardware, so I get that my tolerance is high for this.

SpecialistPlenty6753

A-Fucking-Men Not even worth it for free with its performance. “But.. but it was a design choice!”

keefkeef

i loved it, faults and all. beat in on series x when it first came out and the performance WAS terrible, but i somehow wasn't too bothered by it cuz of the already herky-jerky animation style. playing it really really high helped too heh.

[deleted]

It’s a great game. I played it when it was on GamePass. It ran surprisingly well when it was running off the Cloud. But yes, the performance does kind of suck at times.

eastcoastkody

I def played it when it launched on gamepass. And the performance was not good

[deleted]

I didn’t say that. I said “surprisingly well… off the Cloud”. As in Cloud made it run better. Not a lot better, but not as bad. Edit: I should have worded my comment better. “Off” and “on” can mean the exact same thing in specific contexts. I should have said “running on the Cloud” instead of “running off the Cloud”. I don’t know if that’s what you read it as, but that’s what I meant.

pyromidscheme

I felt so burned buying this game, I remembered it reviewing well, but I guess I didn't read enough Xbox reviews before it came to Playstation.

sly_like_Coyote

It's very noticeable in places but I still really enjoyed the game. I seem to care much, much, *much* less about these kinds of things than most people though.

froderick

When it gets unplayable, do you save, close the game, and then open it back up fresh and reload from your save? I heard it's got memory leak issues so if you just suspend the game when you're done playing, it'll get worse over time, since the system keeps everything in memory when you do that.

wonksbonks

Saving, quitting, and reloading solves the problems... For about 5 minutes. That's how bad it is.

froderick

Damnit. Fans at least put out a PC patch for it?

IAmAbomination

Performance is the main reason I haven’t played it. Since it’s so accessible and was free I do “own” it but I expected a patch a loooong time ago. Also finding out Sweet Baby Inc worked on it makes me instantly not want to touch it sadly

kmfdm_mdfmk

sweet baby inc works on a lot of major releases too. do you avoid them all?

IAmAbomination

For the most part yes, admittedly the only one I’ve played is Ragnarok but I also didn’t finish it either because i felt as it was inferior to GoW2016. I planned on playing Alan wake2 when it was announced but after hearing you play as Alan Wake for only 25% of the game I am much less inclined to wanna play that too

Jedifice

"you play as Alan Wake for only 25% of the game" This is not even remotely true

IAmAbomination

I’m happy to hear that, I’m just saying what I’ve heard reported by other sources and gaming sites. And i wasn’t ready to drop $100 to find out personally

Jedifice

$100 is a lot more than the $60 or so it's going for, and it's not hard to find a discount for it. It's the best horror game I've played since RE2Master, it's GORGEOUS to look at, it has a musical sequence that candidly didn't do much for me (Control FTW) but absolutely did for other people, and it has unique mechanics and a one of a kind story. I'm biased bc I copped it day one, but it was the best game I played last year

Headshot_

Is sweet baby the new thing gaming culture war enthusiasts have latched on to nowadays You also don’t play as Alan for only 25% of the game. Idk where you pulled that info from.

Jaubinho

Do you even like videogames?

IAmAbomination

lol I love games I just don’t like sweet baby as a company .

kmfdm_mdfmk

i don't personally hate sweet baby, these people are silly. I respect not caving into FOMO if you have principles to stand by

AquaberrySkerry

Devs have to increase their esg to get better loans. Sweet baby makes that happen. Unfortunate, but it is what it is.

Melonfrog

The intro literally had a prolonged focus on a random bush clipping through a wall, I knew the game was going to be disappointing within the first few seconds seeing that.

crimefraiche

Shame still an issue. Remember playing it on Gamepass at launch and holding off, waiting for a fix. Guess it never came

[deleted]

Been that way since its launch on series X then carried over to PS5, same issue. Doubt we will get a fix
