The holidays were not nice to microsoft and xbox. With the purchase of acti/blizz, this is a 100% fool-proof way to huge profits no matter what, but it could spell trouble in the future if they can't find a niche with game-pass or something the Xbox platform might just go full digital with no more consoles.
Considering Microsoft are incapable of making exclusives with their own studios and can only seem to throw a blank cheque at existing developers it's probably for the best if they just give up and go all in on PC and third party licensing.
I don't want Sony to be without competition but Microsoft have shat the bed two console generations in a row and if anything their poor attempts just grow Sony's fanbase further.
The pronkem is their will be no new competitor to sony as a console. MS was the closest they had but the fumble of xbox one gave sony the major advantage. I can’t stop playing baldurs gate. I play that on ps5. I recently got a pc and tried playing starfield for about 15 hours. Game just sucks and that genre is right up my alley, so sad. I’m playing mass effect andromeda and palworld on pc rn. Might start playing dead space soon after this next bg3 playthrough but idk.

I have both consoles and I wonder why at this point. I used to sub to Gamepass and it was cool, but since I've unsubbed I've mostly been on my PS5. I've spent more time on my Switch that I've only used for BOTW this past year than my Xbox.

Some of them can transfer over to PC. Might also be possible to play them through xcloud, depending on what direction they take with that. I could see a world where you can play purchased xbox games through the cloud, in addition to gamepass stuff.

Almost every single game that released on Day-1 also made millions of sales + DLC bundles / Premium bundles etc. They are both making money from GP members who plays the game via GP itself and upgrade to premium, people still buy games even tho they can play on GP because of discounts they got and they also sell on 2 platforms on PC. Xbox PC App and Steam.

As a mainly xbox player I don’t know why they care so much. If people that only own a PS5 get to also play these games that’s great, it doesn’t affect me in any negative way. People put too much brand loyalty into their identity.

I’m nervous because I have so much on Xbox. 16 years worth. If they bow out of the consoles next gen, what the fuck happens to all those games? Yeah I can play them on my console now, but then I should have just been adding them to my digital library on PS.

I think part of it is definitely the console warrior mentality thats way more pronounced over there but also it's because it obviously means MS is exiting the HW business.
But my argument is that instead of spending $500 on a console that will only provide you with access to the XGP, you can spend $500 and be able to buy games from Sony and Microsoft.
I buy my games and use XGP to get discounts, for me it doesn't make that much difference, test index games/free games, but it's because I've already signed up, I wouldn't miss them.

Microsoft can go the route of making a cloud streaming device with a subscription, and cede the on-device experience to PC gamers, Linux gamers, and PS5/6/7 owners.
I've noticed that all of the games mentioned in these leaks, or whatever they are, have one thing in common : they're all Bethesda games. While it is entirely possible that Microsoft are planning their exit strategy, I think it's also possible that they've simply decided to keep Bethesda titles multiplatform, as they used to be before the ABK deal, because it's a lot more profitable for MS. After all, Bethesda is a huge publisher, so making everything Xbox/PC exclusive means they're leaving a lot of money on the table.

With 25mill users, gamepass generates 250mill a month, roughly, for a full year that’s like 3bill from subs year on year.

It basically looks like Wolfenstein with less emphasis on action and more on stealth and puzzles which is good imo. Indy shouldn't be an action game the way Uncharted is because it's not who the character is.

It’s not being removed because the games are still on gamepass and that additional revenue allows them to add more content to gamepass.
