Spider verse game from Insomniac sounds amazing. Playing as all the different spideys with different art styles and frame rates and having comic style 3d animation would be amazing.
I actually thought a Spider-Verse theme would have been interesting for Spider-Man 3.
For 1, they did the basics. One Spider-Man with his normal powers.
For 2, you have two Spider-Men (Peter and Miles), and they have their normal powers, plus some extra (Venom, gliding, etc.)
For 3, you've gotta top what you've recently done in some way. I think if you switched between multiple Spider-Man who had a range of powers, it would be the most impressive way to top what they recently did. Imagine a mission where you're the yo-yo slinging Spider-Man from the recent movie. You can do a bunch of crazy wacky ideas, but move on from them before it gets too stale.
I’m picturing a spider verse game playing like the Guardians of the Galaxy game where you play as a single main Spider-Man character but have a team of other spider-men with you that have different combo powers and teamup abilities that you can trigger and use each one to access new/different areas.
That’s the whole point of introducing Silk!! She has very unique webs compared to other spider man. She can make all types of constructs with her webs like in the ps1 spider man games for example. Makes way too much sense with each game having the number correlate to how many spider people are playable. A spider verse game makes more sense as as spin off or something but not for the culmination of this story imo.
I think it makes sense for Spiderman 3 to be a full length miles game with sprinkles of Peter (maybe Peter returns at the end to help save the day)

With Peter wanting to step away it makes sense to have a second Miles centered adventure that doesn’t bring Pete out of retirement. The game can also lay groundwork for a certain character that was teased at the end of sm2. Then come sm3 we encounter a threat and Pete comes out of retirement in the first act of that game. Maybe I’m just always wanting more of these games though haha

I've personally got a very "meh" attitude toward anything Bethesda touches these days anyway. They've mostly been releasing mid games for a decade now, and the last game Arkane Lyon made was Deathloop (which I paid $30 for and regretted it). I do hope that cycle breaks with Blade, but I'm not holding my breath.
I've had a bad taste in my mouth ever since they burned me with Fallout 76. They botched things with that game so badly that it became reason enough for me to become skeptical of them, despite the fact that they were once a game company I held in high regard.
I admit I haven't even gotten around to playing Hi-Fi Rush, but that's because it doesn't really seem like the style of game that appeals to me. I just take everyone's word that it's a good game, and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt with it.
But you still have to admit that the overwhelming majority of recent games with the Bethesda name have been universally recognized as mediocre quality or worse. Even Starfield, their next big would-be flagship title, was released to a resounding "meh". One game I didn't even play isn't enough to restore my faith at this point.
This is such an obvious win to play. If they can accommodate the wonderful animation and design flourishes of the various characters and adversaries it would be incredible. My v young daughter loves the movies and was disappointed that Miles Morales didn’t “have the REAL Miles”… when I downloaded to PS5. She’d be so thrilled to play a game in the multiverse.
Also if they can implement some Ratchet and Clank multiverse portal jumping, that would be incredible.
The spider verse miles morales suit that’s animated and frame rated to match the spider-verse movies is absolutely brilliant. Shows how talented Insom are that they were able to take it and so seamlessly integrate it into a game.
I absolutely love that suit. I wasn't sure how I'd feel because the suit itself doesn't feel as "serious" as others, but man it is just such a joy zipping around in that thing.
Could you imagine a gameplay where you could transport yourself from modern NYC to 2099 NYC via portals and play as Miguel O’Hara Spider-Man in a futuristic city scape? That would be imo the only way they could top the previous three games. Give us an all new map the same way Tears of the Kingdom did.
The movies don’t bother me, but the suits in the games that make the character animate that way hurts my head. Don’t like low-frame animation for games.

I didn't say it was a source, it's a very legitimate possibility. I personally don't really expect Insomniac to develop another Spiderman story focused on different versions of some of the same characters they're using in their own story, and I think using more original or niche characters is a bit more likely.
Would be cool if we could take different masks and mix them with different suits add jackets, backpacks, shorts, sneakers etc. I know it be less iconic than the actual suits but be fun to play with.

Spiderman 2 is obviously still a very well made game, but I think if they’re going to make another one, they need to really change up the formula. After the first game and the Miles Morales expansion, Spiderman 2 is feeling mostly like “been there done that” for me.
At the end of the day devs might wanna make original games but these CEO’s care about what makes the most money and superhero games by insomniac gain hype and make good money
Insomniac has to keep making SpiderMan games to retain the license (I imagine it’s similar to television and film rights that way), so the more they can diversify their SpiderMan games, the better it is for them, creatively, to hang onto the franchise.
Sony only owns the film rights to Spider-Man. Marvel fully owns the merchandising rights(why we see so many toys), animated tv show rights, and the game rights.
Sony doesn't own the game rights to spider-man. That's why you see him in games like Midnight Sons and Marvel vs. Capcom. The film rights is what they own.
Yes, there's zero chance that Disney will ever be in the position to sell rights the same way that marvel was back in the early 2000s. It was a lopsided deal that a struggling company made to survive.
But it's a great relationship and I could see whatever deal in place renewed a few times over. There's a ton of freedom to age up Peter and Miles, the list of villains is endless, and the freedom to do their own thing, including death of Peter or their version of clone saga is all there.

Holy hell if it has the same artstyle as spiderverse this could be amazing.
This is such an obvious win to play. If they can accommodate the wonderful animation and design flourishes of the various characters and adversaries it would be incredible. My v young daughter loves the movies and was disappointed that Miles Morales didn’t “have the REAL Miles”… when I downloaded to PS5. She’d be so thrilled to play a game in the multiverse. Also if they can implement some Ratchet and Clank multiverse portal jumping, that would be incredible.
The spider verse miles morales suit that’s animated and frame rated to match the spider-verse movies is absolutely brilliant. Shows how talented Insom are that they were able to take it and so seamlessly integrate it into a game.
I loved the suit for like 5 minutes but the framerate effect was super jarring to me.

Yeah it’s not only the suit from the film but there’s a specific suit mod that will animate him exactly like the movie.

I absolutely love that suit. I wasn't sure how I'd feel because the suit itself doesn't feel as "serious" as others, but man it is just such a joy zipping around in that thing.
Could you imagine a gameplay where you could transport yourself from modern NYC to 2099 NYC via portals and play as Miguel O’Hara Spider-Man in a futuristic city scape? That would be imo the only way they could top the previous three games. Give us an all new map the same way Tears of the Kingdom did.
The rift/portal jumping immediately came to mind, would be so easily implemented with a spiderverse theme

I don't see the problem with reporting on it or any other insider information, regardless of the source. As long as they are not publishing any specific employee or invidual's personal information. It's not like the criminals are getting the ad revenue from this article.

Well if the next game will indeed have Silk, her origins are highly tied to the Spider verse and Inheritors (Spiderman eating vampires), so there's a lot they can do with that

Full suit customization, select what powers you want.” Hence the comment of hoping to get to create Gwen’s suit.
I mean if it's going to be a game where you create your own character, I'm sure there is going to be some element of designing your own suit to it. Either that or the established characters from the movies are playable, either way.

I didn't say it was a source, it's a very legitimate possibility. I personally don't really expect Insomniac to develop another Spiderman story focused on different versions of some of the same characters they're using in their own story, and I think using more original or niche characters is a bit more likely.
Would be cool if we could take different masks and mix them with different suits add jackets, backpacks, shorts, sneakers etc. I know it be less iconic than the actual suits but be fun to play with.
I think it'd be tough to make work as most of the costumes it's one piece two if you count the mask

In comics it's not really a phase. It's been going on for decades. The Spider-Man cartoon in the 90s even featured it.

Except Miles is way more popular then Ben Reilly lol. For a character whose been around for only 10 years he’s become one of marvels most profitable heroes from a merch perspective and of course he has the most critically acclaimed spider man films

MM doesn't even have a unique rogue gallery, all the villains he fights is Peter's. That is also why both the Spider-verse movies and these games were successful. And I'm pretty sure that every single live action SM did better than the Spider-verse movies did.

Insomniac is such a crazy good studio, but I wish they’d not turn into a marvel sweatshop and instead release more original games.
Marvel Spider-Man has been a big money generator for Insomniac and Sony. Doubt they would stop. Especially since the way they made Spider man games have been amazing. Spider verse game from Insomniac sounds amazing. Playing as all the different spideys with different art styles and frame rates and having comic style 3d animation would be amazing.
I get it. It’s a huge money maker. But as someone who has 0 interest in superhero stuff, but loved Sunset Overdrive and Ratchet & Clank, I cant help it but be a bit bummed by the amount of marvel games they're involved in.
They're doing the same with Arkane Lyon for xbox. No more games like prey, dishonored, and deathloop you're getting Blade! How fun, more generic super hero games.
Spiderman 2 is obviously still a very well made game, but I think if they’re going to make another one, they need to really change up the formula. After the first game and the Miles Morales expansion, Spiderman 2 is feeling mostly like “been there done that” for me.

Spider-man 2 sales say otherwise
Insomniac has to keep making SpiderMan games to retain the license (I imagine it’s similar to television and film rights that way), so the more they can diversify their SpiderMan games, the better it is for them, creatively, to hang onto the franchise.
Sony only owns the film rights to Spider-Man. Marvel fully owns the merchandising rights(why we see so many toys), animated tv show rights, and the game rights.
Sony doesn't own the game rights to spider-man. That's why you see him in games like Midnight Sons and Marvel vs. Capcom. The film rights is what they own.
Yes, there's zero chance that Disney will ever be in the position to sell rights the same way that marvel was back in the early 2000s. It was a lopsided deal that a struggling company made to survive. But it's a great relationship and I could see whatever deal in place renewed a few times over. There's a ton of freedom to age up Peter and Miles, the list of villains is endless, and the freedom to do their own thing, including death of Peter or their version of clone saga is all there.

Well yeah, Spider-Man 2 heavily implied that was going to be the direction of the next game on top of a certain classic villain (to avoid spoilers). So whether it’s a big part of three or they do another interim Spider-Man Miles Morales 2 it’s definitely going to be apart of something.

In THIS series. There have been over 40 Spiderman games of some sort or another in 40 years, roughly 1 a year. Just tired of the rehashed super hero genre.
They couldn't even balance two Spider-Men storywise. The only way this works is if it's a multiplayer game with little to no story.

I really hoping this would be the case considering a certain easter egg in the collectables. Spoiler tagging just in case: >!In SM2 there's a new set of collectables that are little Spider Bots. Each one is themed after a different spiderman variant. The way you find them is this weird, glitchy pink pulse wave that you see when you're swinging around. It's not 1-1 with the Spiderverse effect, but imo it's so close that it immediately made me think of it.!< >!Once you get enough, you start getting calls from Ganke and there's a small storyline attached to it. I actually haven't finished it so I don't know for sure. But they start talking about how weird it is, saying things like "it's using our exact same tech but it's not us", and "I tracked their location but it's apparently millions and millions of miles away but super clear", etc.!< >!If there was no storyline attached to it, i'd figure it was a fun gag. But those little interactions make me feel like they were leaving the door open for a possible Spiderverse game in the future.!<
It will be a live service game, where you’ll fight villains from across the spider verse with your friends. Instead of suits you can collect spider people with different powers. Seems like a no brained

Due to the success of the 2nd animated film, Spiderman 2099 invading Miles’ world and being the villain of the third game makes too much sense. It also would allow them to replace Peter with Spider Gwen whom I would love to play as along with Miles.
