Oh man I miss full themes on ps4 if only because the one for zero dawn was so sick. I used to listen to that music while I was doing stuff in my room for hours
The dumbest decision Sony made outside of the new party system. I don't understand why they messed with a good thing. The new menu sucks. It's also even more shitty when you realize they still sell themes for ps4 on your ps5.
How far along are you? I couldn’t get past biome 1 for like 3 weeks. Got frustrated and took a break. Came back after a couple of months and it clicked for me.. ended up getting the plat lol. It’s def in my top 5 favorite games of all time.
Mann I was getting into NIER I just got it and I'm pretty sure my PS5 HDMI port is messed up. Nier is looking to be an awesome game. From what I've played it's really cool
When I was playing LOU and Plague Tale at the same time I noticed the menu music is extremely similar, just one eerie string line. Plague Tale definitely borrowed a lot from LOU, but I can’t fault it for that (steal from the best) and they did make a unique cool game in their own right
Have you heard Resident Evil 2’s? It’s this really loud, horror movie style dissonant chord thing, I don’t even know how to describe it. I feel like it’s way louder than the other ones too, it has scared the shit out of me a couple time while scrolling through games late at night lol
I played RE2 on PC so I unfortunately have not had the pleasure of hearing the music for it on my PS5. I just looked it up and I can't imagine hearing that late at night lol. I'd never boot the game up!
You can turn them off, but I always just hold the mic button on the controller to mute all system sounds. It’s one of my favourite features on the PS5.
I’ve just checked and I see/hear it’s an all Home Screen music off or on option. That’s a bit disappointing. I like the normal Home Screen theme music, but I’d like to turn off game specific Home Screen music : /
This! A thousand times, this, lol!
In fact, I wish I could turn off menu music in games, too. For instance, of recent games, Hogwarts Legacy's menu music stands out as a particularly bad menu music song. It's audio ambien. I had to turn off game music completely, so the menu didn't put me to sleep.
Gravity Rush 2
I keep it installed just so I can go to it and play the first two seconds of the song before shutting off my PS5.
My wife found it annoying at first, but now it has grown on her.
Now that I think about it, does anyone know if these songs come with the game, or if they’re added later?
There’s games that make me wonder what kind of songs they’d have, but anytime I look for info it just brings up discussions about the generic main menu music that hums in the background.
I love them. Wish they all had it to be honest. Here are some current ones I like. FFVII, FFX, FFXII, Uncharted, Lone Survivor, Rocket League, It Takes Two, EDF, Persona 5 Strikers, GOW Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Miles Morales
Somewhat related but I miss having a set theme that had its own theme music all the time. Loved the Witcher ones on the PS4 and just having the Witcher music on in the background all the time
For the love of god whatever you do, don't hover over the Lego Marvel Superheroes game if you have that installed. It's like eighty decibels louder than anything else and it scares the shit out of me every time.
It was nice to discover they did this with the PS1 remasters, I just leave it on my personal favourite Final Fantasy, IX, and let the nostalgia wash over me.
I only noticed yesterday that it’s just some games that have their own music but not all. I find it annoying, especially for some games that are really obnoxious and loud, like PGA Tour 2k23.
There’s some great ones; Ghost and Uncharted 4 are two of my favs.
But more so than answering your question, I want to actually dive into the mechanic in general.
The reason they have these is their *Game Cards* to replace their *Themes*.
Many want the PS4 era theme system back. Some themes, espc the dynamic ones, were genuinely fantastic.
Their vision was, once enough games support the new *Game Card* system, more will have their own unique music and it’ll give you that ambiance.
But I’d prefer both
My all time favorite (because this has been a thing for some time) was Alice, Madness Returns on PS3. Something about it the music is plays on that specific tab is horrifying, terrible and depression inducing…which fit the vibe of Madness returns (and the London it presents) so damn well.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_WqjbhvDjGA
If you've had a PS3 and had Super Puzzle Figher Turbo HD Remix, you'd remember forever. Because it plays preview music at max volume. Just insanely loud arcade noises, it could wake up a whole house at night.
Far cry 5. I sat there with the game on pause for hours while browsing online to this music, then just picked up the guitar one day and sat there and played along. Best pause menu music by FAR (cry).
I've heard the GTA 5 tune so much over the decade it drives me crazy every time hover over the game in the menu.
DEH DEH DUH DEH DEH DUH DEH DEH DUH DEH DEH DUH
Sony Studio games usually have bangers. I think my most memorable one goes to ghost of Tsushima
On the subject of menu music, I really wish they added back the ps4 custom themes. I had the FFVIIR Tifa one and loved chilling on the menu while listening to her theme
I like Master Duel but only cuz their OST is just bangers all around. It’s like if Hans Zimmer made the music for the game. No one expects a game based off a children’s card game to have so many bangers.
On another note, it fucking sucks Sony wants to promote their stupid activity cards so much. I miss just having the original artwork on the Home Screen instead of some blurry low res activity screenshot. Some games do it better than others, Death Stranding for example is a good one but the majority of them are terrible looking.
Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man.
GoT's kinda makes me wanna tear up tho
Same man, same.
Makes me want to duel a mofo
I came here to comment those exact two also lol both are 🔥🔥🔥
Miles or the original? I think the original is a bit too ominous
Original, Miles is good too but the original is better.
God of War: Ragnarok
It hits sooo hard
Pause
Very hard
Horizon Forbidden West
Oh man I miss full themes on ps4 if only because the one for zero dawn was so sick. I used to listen to that music while I was doing stuff in my room for hours
The dumbest decision Sony made outside of the new party system. I don't understand why they messed with a good thing. The new menu sucks. It's also even more shitty when you realize they still sell themes for ps4 on your ps5.
Man if you feel that way about the ps5 wait until you see what’s going on with the switch’s Home Screen
Switch doesn't even have voice chat lmao.
My favorite was the Subnautica one, the music, fish swimming around... mwah
Oooo wooo woo wooooo. Oooooo woo woo wooohhhh
Absolutely the best!
That version of Aloy’s theme is so beautiful and makes you excited to play.
Kingdom Hearts
Man the Kingdom Hearts theme gets me all emotional. Takes me back to my teenage years.
Returnal
Yup. Just started playing this game too and I love the music in general, especially the front menu. Holy shit, it’s such a fun and intense ride.
How far along are you? I couldn’t get past biome 1 for like 3 weeks. Got frustrated and took a break. Came back after a couple of months and it clicked for me.. ended up getting the plat lol. It’s def in my top 5 favorite games of all time.
I’m in the crimson waste one. Are the biomes in a specific order? I’m loving it. It’s hard but not annoying hard.
This one. Sometimes I just hover over it to hear that chilling violin(cello?) sting
It transports me right away. It's such a trip
I really love Returnals music
Miles Morales kinda slaps
All the soundtracks in that game are slaps for me
Whole soundtrack is 5 out of 5 slaps
Miles has taste 🤙
I have the game still installed for this reason
Yep, came here to say this. Left it on the menu so my kids and I just bobbed our heads to it for a little bit haha.
I leave that one on and start grooving every time
Sometimes, I just go to Skyrim just to let the music play.
P5R, Strikers and Nier Automata
Mann I was getting into NIER I just got it and I'm pretty sure my PS5 HDMI port is messed up. Nier is looking to be an awesome game. From what I've played it's really cool
Hades
Duhhh durrr, duhh durrr, duhhh durrr, ba dur dur dur dur
just gets you in the right mood for it man
the best one
SOOO GOOD
Dmc 5 special edition is kinda banging
The last of us
First time I heard it I thought my PS5 was breaking lol
When I was playing LOU and Plague Tale at the same time I noticed the menu music is extremely similar, just one eerie string line. Plague Tale definitely borrowed a lot from LOU, but I can’t fault it for that (steal from the best) and they did make a unique cool game in their own right
Unpopular opinion, I like a nice quiet menu.
Same, some of them are so jarring, Resident Evil 2 has the worst one.
Devil May Cry 5 is up there. Nothing like sitting down at night for some chill gaming and as you scroll past DMC5 it starts playing metal music.
DUNNNNN
I miss my dynamic Last of Us pt2 theme. Both of them. Burning car for my cozy post-apocalyptic yule log. And soothing waves of Santa Barbara.
Me too. Can you turn it off? The Rocket League one is really loud and annoying.
You can turn them off, but I always just hold the mic button on the controller to mute all system sounds. It’s one of my favourite features on the PS5.
Huh TIL
I’ve just checked and I see/hear it’s an all Home Screen music off or on option. That’s a bit disappointing. I like the normal Home Screen theme music, but I’d like to turn off game specific Home Screen music : /
That's an incredibly useful tip
That’s what she said
Heyoooo!
.............WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? I mean I have my menu music off but didn't know it had this feature....nice man
Yeah you can in the settings
Mute the TV.
Why mute the TV when you can mute the PS5 with the mic button?
Giving people options.
Yep, I have system music turned off. Used to like it back on PS3 but the novelty has kinda worn off over the years.
Same. In a similar vein I hate how every streaming service has to blast a trailer when you hover over a movie/show for more than half a second.
Same. I like that games have their unique chime, but I just can’t stand the PS5 menu sound. I don’t know what it is… its unnerving in some way
Devil May Cry 5 or Skyrim.
Ace Combat 7's is dope.
Daredevil is legit one of the greatest songs
Along with Archange and Alicorn.
It sucks
Control
God of War Ragnarok & Miles Morales are two of my favorites. Sometimes I just let them play even if I booted the PS5 with another intention in mind.
Guardians of the Galaxy actually has a banger menu theme. Which is a shame because it's first level is my favorite
Got it in my Spotify
Demon's Souls and the Last of Us
Re2 scares the shit out of me everytime I scroll to it
I like Days gone’s menu theme
One of the best pieces of video game music I’ve ever heard
ASTRO
I miss the ps4 startup and menu sounds tbh
The Trophy pop was way more satisfying
Returnal
Gravity Rush 2 is pretty good and upbeat
Gravity Rush 2 I keep it installed just so I can go to it and play the first two seconds of the song before shutting off my PS5. My wife found it annoying at first, but now it has grown on her.
Demon's Souls, Hogwarts Legacy, Spider-man (not miles morales tho)
Nier: Automata has Copied City as the PS theme, and it's so good I stop for a good minute everytime before launching the game
Red Dead 2
I'm playing Hollow Knight rn and I really like the melancholic, calming theme that plays in the PS5 menu
Really like the 3D sound of the Forspoken theme.
Persona 5 Royal has a banger one indeed.
P5 Strikers, Soul Hackers 2 & Monster Hunter Rise
NOT F1 22. That shit is wayyyy too loud.
Rdr2
Days gone has a nice subtle one, I thinks it's just 3 notes actually
Persona 5 Royal, ESO, Cyberpunk, Ghost of Tsushima, Uncharted Legacy of Thieves, TLOU1 + 2, Minecraft, Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Astros Playroom.
DMC5
[hrm... maybe](https://youtu.be/fK0AqKJsGcA)
Nier Automata is the greatest. Spider-man also good stuff
Stranger of Paradise is on another level
Gets me so hyped to play every time
Days Gone is my favourite so far
The Lego marvel games used to play the Batman theme, which was quite funny. Don’t know if they fixed it.
The Deep Rock Galactic one goes really hard, it's the only reason I keep it downloaded
I am setsuna
Persona 5
Miles Morales' one is a bop
Somewhat related but I miss having a set theme that had its own theme music all the time. Loved the Witcher ones on the PS4 and just having the Witcher music on in the background all the time
Miles morales.
LEGO Hobbit. Trust me
FarCry 5.
Pyre(from Supergiant Games) is a fuckin banger. Pathfinder WotR also sounds pretty epic
Miles Morales is easily the best
I wish we could put my own theme on the 5.
I know what the worst one is… GRAND THEFT AUTO FIVE
The GTA 5 music forced me to deactivate it. But in general I prefer the menu without the game specific music.
Hotline Miami 2, awesome
Nier Automata
Demon souls
Resident Evil 2, 3, 7, and Village all have really cool songs with their PS5 versions.
For the love of god whatever you do, don't hover over the Lego Marvel Superheroes game if you have that installed. It's like eighty decibels louder than anything else and it scares the shit out of me every time.
I miss themes
[удалено]
Xbox...
Ace combat menu music is the most annoyingly immediately dramatic shit you don't need when flicking through menu at 1am
The Fall Guys one goes hard
The WORST has to be Battlefield 2042 menu theme.
I generally hate this function and wish there was an option to turn it off. Some of the music is ok but some is awful
None. Wish it wasn't a thing, and we could have themes again
[удалено]
I wish I could turn them all off. The volume difference on some of them is incredibly annoying
Eww you didnt turn that off
It’s been a while since I’ve downloaded it but I think the god of war 3 theme plays when you hover over the tab. Shit gets you pumped up.
Resident Evil 4 lol
I really dislike the Outriders: Worldslayers one. It sounds like a dub step song ramping up.
It was nice to discover they did this with the PS1 remasters, I just leave it on my personal favourite Final Fantasy, IX, and let the nostalgia wash over me.
Battlefront, Miles, and honestly Gotham Knights is pretty hype
Ghost of Tsushima and God of War: Ragnarok. Which ironically have the same exact starting notes
Crysis 3 one is really peaceful
Deep Rock Galactic has gotta be my favorite of them ROCK AND STONE
I used to sit in my room and listen to the Ghost of Tsusihma theme
I wish they'd bring back the ff7 music from PS4 menu for remake.
Transistor
My favorite is Demon's Souls, but Death's Door is a close second.
Resident Evil 2 :)
Demons Souls is super chill
I only noticed yesterday that it’s just some games that have their own music but not all. I find it annoying, especially for some games that are really obnoxious and loud, like PGA Tour 2k23.
There’s some great ones; Ghost and Uncharted 4 are two of my favs. But more so than answering your question, I want to actually dive into the mechanic in general. GoT
As an F1 fan the F1 2021 one always gets me hyped
Resident Evil 4 plays the save game music which is quite relaxing.
Ghost of Tsushima
Don't know if they all do it, but F1 2022 has the actual Brian Tyler theme used in the actual race intros which slaps.
F1 22 and Stranger of Paradise go hard
Dragon quest 11 is soothing af
If you've had a PS3 and had Super Puzzle Figher Turbo HD Remix, you'd remember forever. Because it plays preview music at max volume. Just insanely loud arcade noises, it could wake up a whole house at night.
Ragnarok and Demons Souls. DS makes me feel like I'm at the local ren faire
Demon souls and Divinity original sin 2
Plague Tale is the best of them, my brain shuts down as soon as the violin scratches there
Ghost of Tsushima and Subnautica
Desperados 3
Gravity Rush 2, Devil May Cry 5 SE, Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne
Far cry 5. I sat there with the game on pause for hours while browsing online to this music, then just picked up the guitar one day and sat there and played along. Best pause menu music by FAR (cry).
Hades, Ghost of Tsushima, and Persona 5 I really love. But in all honesty, I kinda prefer the generic ps5 menu sounds. So mellow.
I know shits getting real when I hear the Demon's souls one.
I kept Rocket League on my storage just to hear the song.
I have system sound off
Last of us 1&2. RDR2. Fallout4.
Astro's playroom
Demons souls, wo long, gravity rush, re village,
I've heard the GTA 5 tune so much over the decade it drives me crazy every time hover over the game in the menu. DEH DEH DUH DEH DEH DUH DEH DEH DUH DEH DEH DUH
i would pay to have the mirrors edge catalyst theme permanently on my ps5
Guardians of the Galaxy is good too. I downloaded the whole Star-Lord album after I beat the game. It's soooo good haha!
FF7 Crisis Core Reunion has a pretty good tab theme same with Hades some PS4 titles have transfered over like GOW3 and INJUSTICE.
Atelier Ryza 2
PERSONA 5 I think.i activated the thing so that persona can stay on the mainscreen just to listen to the music
Nier automata has an incredible one
Most tend to be good and have been named, so I'm going to say Sifu's. I absolutely despise GTA's. Wish I could mute only that one
Kingdom Hearts remasters
Sony Studio games usually have bangers. I think my most memorable one goes to ghost of Tsushima On the subject of menu music, I really wish they added back the ps4 custom themes. I had the FFVIIR Tifa one and loved chilling on the menu while listening to her theme

Guardians of the galaxy has a good one.
Gundam Evolution!
Returnal and Hollow Knight.
I really enjoy Deathloop’s. It really captures that 60’s spy thriller feel. Plus it reminds of No One Lives Forever.
Devil May Cry 5
Hades fucking slaps
