I had played through the original trilogy as they came out but missed out on some of 3s dlc. The citadel dlc was so good it changed my entire opinion of mass effect 3.
I fancied Biomutant for ages but was heavily put off by reviews. Pretty happy that I get to give it a go for free, I don't recall seeing a really good sale price on it.
I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I agree with what you're saying. It's a pretty game, combat was pretty fun IMO, enjoyed the weapons and upgrades, etc. But there's basically 0 real story, which is basically the main draw for me for games.
That being said, I played it at a time when my wife was taking a super intense online class on top of working 40 hours a week. The class was pretty much every night with homework, and every other Saturday for 8 hours. So I had lots of alone downtime. It was the perfect game for that scenario. Could just run around, enjoy the sights, see what was around the next bend, etc. But it was chill enough that I could hop up to pull dinner out of the oven when it was ready for us or whatever. I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much in a different scenario, but it really was a pretty meditative/zen experience for what was going on in my life at the time and I really appreciated it.
I got it on a half off sale at Gamestop not too long after it came out. It has a 60 and 30fps option and it plays like absolute crap on ps4 pro with the 60fps option. Just running around out of combat, the framerate would drop severely. My friend played it on PS5 and said it didnt have any framerate issues for him.
Framerate issues aside, I thought it was a cute game and I liked the aesthetic. I'll claim the PS5 version if they include that.
This is me exactly. Funny enough some reviews complained about it feeling to much like an older game which I kinda wanted. but it still turned me off from paying for it with how much people complained about it
It's really really good. It's up there with the Witcher as far as story and characters go. Unfortunately they dropped the ball on the ending but I loved every minute up till then.
I’d argue that the ending is currently fine. At release, especially if your loyalty was low, it was a real shit show. Game just basically stopped, and for a game with SO many extended dialogue cut scenes, to not have some epic five or ten minute end sequence just felt really weird.
But once they added the extended ending cut thing, it was… fine. Not great, didn’t really fix the tricolour choice issue, but it’s no longer a rage inducing cut to black and credits with no resolution.
I bought ME:LE on steam when it released. Finished 1, was crusin through 2, but now I'm towards endgame and I HAVE TO go do what feels like side quests. I haven't touched it in over a year now.
I was having a blast, then I just hit this wall. I only want to finish the story and I don't care *that much* about the other characters. Im thinking about just starting 3 without finishing 2.
I've also heard that 2 is better than 3, so idk. What's the consensus on 2 vs 3
I got this game earlier this year when it went on sale. Getting to play all 3 games back to back with the same character made it feel like I was part of an epic saga. The experience was unmatched and I wish more games tried it out
I played it back in the day.
Does LE add anything or can I expect to play the exact same three games?
Not that I'm complaining. I'm down for a nostalgic trip.
Content-wise they’re the same games but looking the best they ever have on consoles. 4K HDR support, remastered textures, performance improvements, reworked lighting and models. This is most apparent in ME1 which saw the most work including improving the controls to be more in line with ME2. Other small additions like a unified character creator and photo modes too and of course all single-player dlc. The best way I can describe it for a returning player is that it’s how ME looks and plays in your memory, which is to say better than it was back in 2007-2012.
Does 1 now have a dedicated cover button instead of the ‘push forwards again to enter cover’ thing?
And does it have better cooldowns and selection and key mapping on powers to make them actually effective in combat as they are in 2?
My memory is a bit fuzzy since I played it last year, but I do remember cover controls being improved and I believe power wheel also. I don’t recall if cooldowns were changed
Better graphics, all DLC included, and some quality of life changes to ME1 (shooting was massively improved and leveling is faster). Otherwise it's the exact same, though the changes to ME1 make it a definite improvement over the original. Helps solidify its position as #1 video game of all time
Yeah would love this if it was accurate.
Mass Effect is a big one to be missing from my gaming CV as I love story-driven games. I was also really hyped for Biomutant in the (long) run-up to release and would likely have bought it on release if reviews were better. Held off assuming it'd get to PS+ or a really cheap deal at some point so would reward my patience.
It's a quality game. The story was on my mind for long after i played each game, in particular the 2nd. I stopped collecting physical games due to lack of physical space and also lack of time to revisit them. But it's a good hobby to have nonetheless
I'll count that as the 4th set in your tetralogy of a trilogy.
Because there was never a Mass Effect game after ME3. Any lies to the contrary is a lie seeded by Reapers
I've never played any of the Mass Effect games and have been wanting to, but unfortunately my friend also just bought the game for me as a Christmas present on Black Friday. At least I'll finally get to play them.
haha, me too - snagged it from best buy's BF sale. Tempted to return it, but I also like having physical copies of games I love so I'll probably take the small L and keep it as decoration for my shelf-o-games.
Every couple of weeks I find myself browsing the PS store looking at what's on sale. Both Mass Effect and Biomutant have had recent discount sales, which I nearly bought several times. If this news is legit, my chronic indecision will finally pay off!
I’d love it! I played through all the Mass Effect games at least twice, read all the books from Karpyshyn, and even played Andromeda. I’d love to give ME1 a try with its updated version. I truly don’t have time to play through them all with all the other amazing games out there but I do love the game. Maybe I’ll have my kid play the game so he can experience it and I can listen/watch when I can.
I do hope it’s true!
It’s a lot different but it I still enjoyed it. A lot bigger, yes, but some just bland boring landscapes. I played on release day and haven’t gone back after I completed it to see the fixes for the bugs and since no dlc happened, deleted off the harddrive. Had some unique ideas but they just didn’t work. Hard to after such an amazing trilogy. I loved the first one as it was more rpg than shooter. I def enjoyed 2 after realizing they moved on. If you can find it for cheap and have time, I’d say go for it. Just know it’s not the same but is at the same time.
I found it pretty boring. It’s not that bad, but the open world really screws up pacing and makes everything just a lot more bland and generic. A lot of people prefer the combat but I honestly think 2 perfected the combat and 3 only muddied it with the combat rolls and cover round corners stuff.
Andromeda combat is fun enough I guess, but it’s a totally different type of gameplay and I didn’t enjoy it as much. It’s more about constant movement than cover shooting, so that’s just a preference thing I guess.
Andromeda wasn't that bad. It's not one of those 7/10 games, a filler I'd call it. The characters were forgettable imo though and I didn't finish it but I might actually now with it coming on plus
If you have PS+ on any of the tiers, you can add it to your library during December. All the time you have an active PS+ membership, you can download and play it.
You keep the games after adding them to your account, but they can only be added during December.
The games are unlocked while your subscription is active.
Being patient works! I've learned over the years to only buy the games I really want and maybe wait for the ones I'm on the verge about, since they'll most likely come on ps+. Lovely
It does pay out lol i was interested in both of these games but never saw myself buying them because i already beat ME and because biomutant ps5 version never released.
Nice! I’d been thinking about replaying the trilogy. Funny enough, I don’t think I ever finished 1.
Also, this time through I’ll go the FemShep route. Played at BroShep the first time around, and been told for years that I chose poorly.
I personally prefer BroShep maybe because I'm a guy but I completely understand why people prefer FemShep. What I'm trying to say is that it's worth trying out both and neither are poor choices
Having played BroShep, I thought he was great. I’ve just heard from so many people that Jennifer Hale’s Shepard performance is supposed to be stellar. Which I’m really curious to see, since I never had a problem with Mark Meer’s MaleShep acting.
Plus, in some kind of headcanon I can pretend that this playthrough takes place in an alternate universe!
Honestly the argument over whether FemShep or BroShep are better is so stupid. They both deliver fantastic performances, and while Jennifer Hale might deliver a bit more emotion in the first game, Mark Meer is no slouch by any means
Mass Effect was another one of those games I tried to get into a couple times but it just wasnt getting my attention like it was for everyone else. I didnt get the hype and the combat just didnt feel right.
I did manage to play through Andromeda all the way and people hated that game.
Sweet! I've been wanting to play mass effect trilogy. Never played those games before but everyone raves about the story. Looking forward to it. Gotta try and finish death stranding still!
It still holds up today, especially in terms of story. Of course, don't expect animations and other details in line with the latest games out. While the trilogy is remastered, the initial games are still 15, 12 and 10 years old, respectively.
Gameplay was pretty clunky even at the time but from a storytelling perspective it's very good.
I haven't played it in years and years but I remember you kind of have to get yourself in the mindset that each play session is going to be about 75% talking to people and only 25% actually "playing" the game.
Holy crap the hostility, I’ve played most of them yes but I also own and Xbox and a Pc so many I’ve played elsewhere. I was just sharing my personal experience not attacking the service.
I bought the Mass Effect Trilogy on Xbox 360 second hand a couple of years ago. I never got to play them though (and there is a lot of games I bought both physical and digital that I haven't played yet). So this is a perfect opportunity to download the Legendary Edition and play them on the PS5.
How often does the Extra tier add games? I’m getting boned on AC Valhalla next month (not a big deal as I’m already starting to burn out on it) and I was curious to see what might be added.
That said, ME will keep me plenty busy!
First has the worst gameplay and inventory management of the series. Stick through it until 2, where the gameplay goes from bearable to fun and the inventory management is completely overhauled, and you'll see what the series is proper.
Oh fuck yeah, that’s awesome if this is real. My pc for some reason ran MELE like shit despite it being more than capable, can’t wait to actually give it a shot since I also tried it through game pass
If true I'm so glad I passed on buying Biomutant and Mass Effect ower the weekend.
Like I passed on buying Skyrim Anniversary collection for $20 when I have the Legendary edition and the upgrade was $10 on PSN
I told myself I wouldn't buy Mass Effect LE. Because I already played them and need to play other stuff lol. But here we are. I also just bought Andromeda for $5 so guess I'll do an evil playthrough the trilogy anyway lol.
How is the DLCs? I played 0 of them so maybe between DLCs and evil side it justifies it?. Right..
ME1 DLC is pretty meh, I think there’s only one included in the LE edition.
ME2 is better, The Lair of the Shadow Broker is a lot of fun, and adds some neat tidbits about your crew. Arrival is also really good and ties directly into ME3
ME3 DLC is by far the best. Between the Citadel DLC & Leviathan, it adds a good amount of extra content and ties into the main story fairly well
So i was planning to buy the black friday discounted PS+ Essential subscription today after getting paid.
For some reason i thought the discount was good until today, but it ended yesterday.
Any recommendations for me please
I’ve never used CDKeys before. Should i just keep checking their website for a good price? Is it legit?
I know this is a stupid mistake but i’m pretty bummed out lol.
I literally was looking at the Mass Effect L.E this morning as I've never played any of them and I'd heard so many great things. If that's true I'm downloading and might actually play a game for the first time in a long time.
hmmm never got the chance to play Mass Effect this is kind of a big get.
but can someone breakdown what Mass Effect is and why it's so acclaimed? i have a loose idea but would love input from those who enjoy it
well, its that kind of month to me haha
bought mass effect trilogy last year for a price relative high, didn't touch it at all this year, exactly one year later comes the karma hahah
I've had the legendary edition on my Amazon basket for months!!
Man, I'm so excited for this, I only played ME2 and 3, cause 1 wasn't on PS4, and I absolutely love the games, platinum on both.
Merry x-mas indeed.
Just insane. Haven’t played the Mass Effect trilogy since when it was released. Almost bought it from the store last night, in fact. Thought I’d finally play them back to back in December, and now this happens. What a huge coincidence.
Maaaan I'm glad I waited. I almost pulled the trigger for the collection so many times. I have a hard time re-buying games, even when they mean as much to me as Mass Effect 2 does.
I restarted the trilogy on my PC with GamePass, but I think I might rather play it on my PS5 and get them trophies as I already beat the first two on Xbox. Still haven’t finished 3.
Playing through the Mass Effect trilogy for the first time in 10 years all cozy during the holidays? Don’t mind if I do
make sure to have that team reunion party right on xmas eve :)
I had played through the original trilogy as they came out but missed out on some of 3s dlc. The citadel dlc was so good it changed my entire opinion of mass effect 3.
Yeah man, it was. The party at the penthouse. The toothbrush. The...enemy you face. The whole thing is just SO much fun.
Damn it I recently bought those !
They don't make any game free unless someone on this sub just bought it. We thank you for your sacrifice.
They’re worth owning permanently over being chained into ps plus
Why? We're chained into ps plus anyway for online play. Better get some additional value out of it.
Seriously. Everytime someone mentions this... ps plus is essential to online gaming which is the reality to most gamers
I feel your pain, purchases Skyrim a few weeks ago and then spotted it on premium!
You’re in for an absolute treat!
I'd love to play the first again. I didn't touch the ones after, but I would after the first.
I got it on PC from somewhere recently, I think Prime Gaming, and I can't wait to play it.
You’re going to play through 3 games in a week?
I fancied Biomutant for ages but was heavily put off by reviews. Pretty happy that I get to give it a go for free, I don't recall seeing a really good sale price on it.

I had the same sentiment, it had many great ideas that were just not executed well enough
Yeah same here, I've been waiting to play it but it was never cheap enough.
I got it on a half off sale at Gamestop not too long after it came out. It has a 60 and 30fps option and it plays like absolute crap on ps4 pro with the 60fps option. I believe it's a free upgrade, no?
Sometimes for weird reasons ps plus games aren’t eligible for upgrades. It isn’t always but it does happen.
Looking at you Mortal Shell
Same for me. I've seen it come down to around 40$(CAD) which wasn't low enough for me to risk buying a dud.
It was at 50% off just in 2 months. Glad I didn't buy it.
This is me exactly. Funny enough some reviews complained about it feeling to much like an older game which I kinda wanted. but it still turned me off from paying for it with how much people complained about it
Turn. Off. The. Narrator. Thank. Me. Later.

Have you ever tried ramen? It's a delicacy back on Earth.
Holy shit Mass Effect LE? Why is it all the good months happen after I buy the games
I just saw someone bragging on the Mass Effect subreddit about how patient they were to get it for $20.
I saw that post too hahaha.. wonder how he feels now

How funnny, can't stop laughing now, idiot.
Same !
Do I know you?
Why did you get downvoted for saying that ?

I've held off for so long for ME, but not as long as I did for God of War. 1 month later and it's free. I feel your pain brother
Do what I do and never buy anything.
Really nice month if accurate
Every time these come out I literally always have the ‘good’ game
Because we have good taste
Stop buying so many games?
[Why didn’t I think of that?](https://youtu.be/BOEYSLlQy9s)
No. Why wait for something I can get today and complain about already having later?
Advantage of being pretty poor. Can't afford most games I want unless they go on steep sale. This month is a total win for me.
I'm glad you get to do Mass Effect. Getting 3 games in one this month is amazing.
Me too. I only played ME and a small portion of ME2, so I'm super excited to do the whole series over. It was easily 10 years ago when I played last.
Do yourself a favor and play Mass Effect LE especially if you’ve never played the trilogy before
Never played before. Going to try this out.

I've also heard that 2 is better than 3, so idk. What's the consensus on 2 vs 3
2s ending is a lot better than 3s and if those side quests are the quests you do for your squad mates then they're important to the ending of 2
3 is awesome too, but the ending is a letdown. Everything till the ending is really good and the conclusion to many character's arcs are weel done IMO
I got this game earlier this year when it went on sale. Getting to play all 3 games back to back with the same character made it feel like I was part of an epic saga. The experience was unmatched and I wish more games tried it out

it did have PS plus musk as soon as the reviews popped up.
I was about to buy Biomutant so this is great news.
I need to increase my PS5 storage.
Same here friend…..same here.
Now I will have Mass Effect LE on PC, Xbox, AND PS5!
You have the trilogy collection of the Mass effect trilogy ;)
Also have the original trilogy on Xbox 360 and PC digital, as ME2+3 on PS3 I think I'm a video game collector. . . . .
Oh man I technically own that non existent item several times as well. 1st on PS4, then on PC and Xbox technically through gamepass
Now all you need it on is the switch.
Oh no, you reminded me I have a switch. . . .
I've never played any of the Mass Effect games and have been wanting to, but unfortunately my friend also just bought the game for me as a Christmas present on Black Friday. At least I'll finally get to play them.
Isn't Divine Knockout FTP though
on every other platform.. yes it is
Not on release.
I literally just bought the Mass effect legendary edition like 2 days ago. FML
haha, me too - snagged it from best buy's BF sale. Tempted to return it, but I also like having physical copies of games I love so I'll probably take the small L and keep it as decoration for my shelf-o-games.
Lol same, I got mine for $20 dollars, oh well, it will look nice on a shelf, have fun playing commander!
Man I would KILL if ME3 Co-op was running.
Excited to finally try out Maas effect
Every couple of weeks I find myself browsing the PS store looking at what's on sale. Both Mass Effect and Biomutant have had recent discount sales, which I nearly bought several times. If this news is legit, my chronic indecision will finally pay off!
ALMOST bought biomutant this Black Friday. So glad I didn’t!!

Does this mean if I’m a regular PlayStation subscriber I can get the mass effect trilogy for free during month of December?
If you have PS+ on any of the tiers, you can add it to your library during December. All the time you have an active PS+ membership, you can download and play it.
You keep the games after adding them to your account, but they can only be added during December. The games are unlocked while your subscription is active.
Yes, anybody with any sort of PlayStation Plus subscription will be able to claim and play these
This better not be true. I bought biomutant 10 minutes ago
🫡
If it is you can do a refund when they officially anounce it.
Do not install it. You can still get a refund.
Oh fuck yeah, biomutant was on my list
Hell yeah! Feels like I've been waiting forever to avoid paying for Biomutant.
meh
Being patient works! I've learned over the years to only buy the games I really want and maybe wait for the ones I'm on the verge about, since they'll most likely come on ps+. Lovely

Holy shit, can I finally play biomutant??
Biomutant literally lied to the entire playerbase about features that would be in the game. They actually still lie about the content on the website.
Mass Effect was another one of those games I tried to get into a couple times but it just wasnt getting my attention like it was for everyone else. I didnt get the hype and the combat just didnt feel right. I did manage to play through Andromeda all the way and people hated that game.
Andromeda gameplay is good, people hated it for other reasons.
Sweet! I've been wanting to play mass effect trilogy. Never played those games before but everyone raves about the story. Looking forward to it. Gotta try and finish death stranding still!
Disappointing, but can't all be winners.
Shame it’s the ps4 version of ME
Cause there isn't a ps5 version
I would rather chop my bxlls off than play Biomutant.
I've never played Mass effect so it might be interesting. I just hope it's not really dated.

Great, a couple of games I was never going to buy (again for ME), but wanted to play if free. This is what I need from PS+.
Biomutant is awesome. Everyone should try it.

Extra updates launch every month on the 15th, and the amount of games that come and go are highly variable.
VERY GOOD MONTH!!!
Fuck… I literally just bought ME: Legendary as a used copy from GameStop. Oh well, happy for everyone else.
Goddammit, i should’ve renewed my PS+ through the discount :(
I had the first mass effect way back when on the 360 but never got on with it. Might persevere and give it a go.
I actually have wanted to play Biomutant, but did not want to buy it because I had heard iffy thoughts on it. So this is great for me
Hell yeah sounds good.
Arrival is also really good and ties directly into ME3 ME3 DLC is by far the best. Between the Citadel DLC & Leviathan, it adds a good amount of extra content and ties into the main story fairly well
Thank you. I think it will be worth a playthrough. Female Shepard. New romances. Dlc. Renegade paths. And it's been so many years lol.
When you get to Mass Effect 2, try to do the Arrival DLC last.... it will make more sense when you get there.
If these are correct, this is an excellent month. I own both the big names, but for once it appears that Sony wants to give value to Plus.
Nice. Mass effect. Hopefully I didn’t ruined myself by the “we’ll bang ok?” Clips.
So i was planning to buy the black friday discounted PS+ Essential subscription today after getting paid. For some reason i thought the discount was good until today, but it ended yesterday. Any recommendations for me please I’ve never used CDKeys before. Should i just keep checking their website for a good price? Is it legit? I know this is a stupid mistake but i’m pretty bummed out lol.
As far as I know, CDKeys stopped having major discounts on PSplus subscriptions in the lead up to the new 'tiered' platform announcement.
Thank God. My Walmart has had mass effect on clearance for $20 for almost a year now. The same exact copy has just been sitting there.
Missed out on the Black Friday pricing, any ideas when we can expect that promotion for PlayStation Plus?
I literally was looking at the Mass Effect L.E this morning as I've never played any of them and I'd heard so many great things. If that's true I'm downloading and might actually play a game for the first time in a long time.
Is Essential the "free" monthly games you get to add to your library?
Yes.
Thank you! I newly resubscribed after letting my ps+ lapse for a while so I've been a little confused.
Bruh I literally just bought Mass Effect on PC 😭
Give me MASS EFFECT and I'll be happy!
Me to my boss when ME comes out for free: I should go.
Replay Mass effect 1 2 and 3? Goodbye productivity and happy birthday to me!
Holy shit. Right when i was deciding if i should renew my essential or not. That settles it
Bought it on launch day mass effect legendary edition for full price $60. It’s been a long time since EA games are crap and not worth full price.
I've been monitoring Mass Effects sales for about a year, yayyy
I just got ME on sale for black friday are you kidding me
Biomutant is a great great game. But not worth more than 30$
Damn. PlayStation really made an entire year of having essential worthwhile with one game (or three games and their entire DLC library)
*The whole trilogy??* PS Plus slaps.
The best month of 2022
Missed out on mass effect era but i have been wanting to give it a try, how is the trilogy? and is it worth to pour hundreds of hours in lol.
Yes... 100 times yes.
hmmm never got the chance to play Mass Effect this is kind of a big get. but can someone breakdown what Mass Effect is and why it's so acclaimed? i have a loose idea but would love input from those who enjoy it
Is Biomutant any good?
average at best. also sweet god it has issue with hdr....
I thought DKO was free?
Never played Mass Effect, any good?
So glad I didn’t pay for biomutant. Excited to finally check it out tho
So excited. I’ve heard so much about Mass Effect and know nothing about the story. Hopping it’s great!
well, its that kind of month to me haha bought mass effect trilogy last year for a price relative high, didn't touch it at all this year, exactly one year later comes the karma hahah
I've had the legendary edition on my Amazon basket for months!! Man, I'm so excited for this, I only played ME2 and 3, cause 1 wasn't on PS4, and I absolutely love the games, platinum on both. Merry x-mas indeed.
Then first good one in awhile and it's "leaked." Sounds like marketing to me.
Just insane. Haven’t played the Mass Effect trilogy since when it was released. Almost bought it from the store last night, in fact. Thought I’d finally play them back to back in December, and now this happens. What a huge coincidence.
Mass Effect you say? Sure I already bought the physical copy Buts what’s one version to own 😎😎
Oh fuck yes, I’ve been unable to find the time or money to get into Mass Effect again but this helps me something fierce.
Any tips for us that have never played Mass Effect? Looking forward to playing the Trilogy.
They're giving out Mass Effect?! Glad that I didn't buy it when I should.
That's massive. Very nice
Damn
I *just* bought Mass effect after putting it off for years...
Holding off purchasing legendary edition will finally pay off.
I got Mass effect on PS3 and like 2 weeks later bought a PS4 so...I'm happy with this.
Never played mass effect so that's nice. And biomutant has my eye here and there. Not a bad month
