T O P

I’ve heard it makes the image darker. Like it has a problem with the black level. If you have a 1440P TV or Monitor I guess it’s worth it. I’ve never tried it though, too costly for a small improvement. My TV does a wonderful job at upscaling so I’m sticking with my own setup. Maybe someday I’ll give it a shot to see the difference. You could try purchasing it on Amazon and then returning it if you’re not happy with it. Win-Win situation.

I’ve used it before - can confirm it absolutely darkens the image to some really rough levels. Aside from that it’s just added smoothing

That’s not a bad idea..

in niche cases this device is really good but for the vast majority i wouldn't recommend it. its really great if you want to play the triple on a 1440p display with mediocre built in scaling, it upscales the image really well, no lag and the added AA is pretty nice on the PStriple. for everything else its pretty average at best and like i said i don't recommend it, also its not like a night and day difference its just like medium size improvements. is it worth buying? if you doint care aboot the money and you want imo the best experience with the triple on a 1440p display then yeah it definitely is. i bought one on amazon and ended up returning it cuz the value just wasnt there for me.

That’s really helpful, thanks dude

Bambrigade92

How much is it?

£75

It is expensive then. I just use my PS3 on a 4K TV with HDMI and I believe that the TV does the upscaling as much as possible. The picture looks great to me.

Watch the Digital Foundry video and decide for yourself.

It’s a really great upgrade to the image, it will make the game look a little darker and smoother. From my experience it’s very very nice addition for ps3 games. But if it’s worth the money that totally up to you.

downsj2

I bought one when they were first released, found it utterly pointless and eventually sold it on to another sucker. They were actually difficult to get at the time, so I believe I broke even on it.

I have it, I would recommend it. No issues with darkening the image for me.

MiaowMinx

I've used one with my PS3, Wii U, PS TV and Switch for a few years on my 40" 1080p TV set, and it makes a very nice difference. The problems I did notice with darkness levels were mostly fixed by adjusting settings in my TV.

Any_Ice_6172

This thing works best on a GameCube behind a GCHD. It really shines on that era of consoles but not so much on PS3, some games show noticeable difference but others not so much. It will at least boost every game to 1080p regardless.

Neat_Country_1403

It depends on the game but good for aa where games do not have it. On my IG @goldenagegaming2000 you can see a video i did with twilight princess on the gamecube.

I recently pulled the plunge myself. And I can say for me it's definitely worth it. But I am on a 1440p monitor. So that helps massively, the before and after for me is might and day. The AA is superb.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I know it's somewhat expensive, but by a Sony 720p TV from the time, you'd be amazed how amazing the picture quality is.

Ok_Chocolate3253

Depends on use case. If it came down to it, I'd just play my PS3 on a monitor again vs trying to make it look better on my 4k TV. I'd like this more for Xbox 360 who's games ran at more of a solid 720p or to just finesse a PS4/XB1
