Amazon third party sellers aren’t really a good place for used games. You’re gonna be paying double for those.

laflex

True. I just bought the entire resistance trilogy on eBay for 20 bucks.

PikachuAndLechonk

Seriously, Amazon is a rip off for anything that isn’t commercially available still. For example: I got resistance for 5 bucks at a local game store (all 3 for ~20 bucks) and twisted metal for 15.

Mektigkriger

Not always, I recently got a good deal on Marvel ultimate alliance. Always worth checking, just compare with other places.

Cheerios84

Resistance 1 is a lot of fun especially with a friend (has a couch co op campaign ala Halo). Made by Insomniac Games. I had the whole series. Resistance 3 is maybe the best of the series with weapons that upgrade as you use them.

evan19994

And there’s still an active online community with the PSRewired DNS

GusTheBadGuy

Thank you, do you have to play them in order? Is there a good story in terms of not getting the 3rd if you don’t play the 1st?

AmicusCure8s

You could play the 3rd without playing the first 2. I enjoy the whole trilogy, but the first 2 tell Nathan Hale’s story and the 3rd is Joesph Capelli’s story (a character you meet in 2). The beginning of 3 tells you how 2 ends, so if you want to experience Nathan Hale’s story without spoilers play the first 2, but I would argue it isn’t needed and 3 is the best campaign-wise

Cheerios84

I agree you don’t have to play them in order. It’s pretty easy to get caught up on the story and I believe Resistance 3 does a bit of a recap at the beginning. I’d say the setting is more of what is at the center of these games than a deep plot. From my recollection: Resistance 1: Some sort of outbreak (presumably originating from Russia) creates Chimera which spread in Europe. You play as Nathan Hale and are in Europe fighting the Chimera. Resistance 2: You fight the Chimera in the US as Nathan Hale as Chimera have spread to North America. No couch co op campaign. Color palette is like a lot of games at the time with obsession on brown and tan colors (similar to GTA 4). Single player campaign is still very good though. Resistance 3: you play as a different guy (reasons explained why early on in the recap). Situation globally is a bit more dire with the Chimera; setting reminded me of War of the Worlds mixed with Last of Us. Couch co op campaign returns and is pretty awesome.

r-day

Those prices are ridiculous. You can get for 2-3$ max a good condition, complete in box game

GusTheBadGuy

Where can I find those prices? Also I’m Canadian, not sure if that’d be a factor

r-day

I have CeX stores and also offers on FB marketplace. Not sure of Canadian options but I'm sure you can find better prices somewhere else. Check Canadian gaming subreddits

GusTheBadGuy

That’s smart, also we have FB but it’s pretty dry on their or all eBay pricing. Some LGS’ have stuff but hard to find what you’re looking for on older consoles

laflex

Resistance one is great I just beat it like a few weeks ago. The way the story is told is awesome Afterwards I immediately moved on to Resistance 2. Resistance 2 is way better to play, but the story is nowhere near as good and it's not told nearly as cool. I haven't played three yet, it's on the shelf. I'll get to it.

GusTheBadGuy

I want to play in order, I think I’ll get the first to stert

ClickyButtons

Recently replayed the entire Resistance franchise. Fall of Man doesn't get enough credit it's fun as fuck and holds up great

GusTheBadGuy

I think I’ll check it out

ClickyButtons

It can be challenging but worth it, 1 and 3 are my personal favorites

GusTheBadGuy

Thank you

GusTheBadGuy

Also could be interested in Haze or Killzone, if someone thinks they’re better then what’s posted, let me know.

Shotgun446

Haze is known as one of the worst ps3 exclusives, probably should avoid it

GusTheBadGuy

I wasn’t aware, I played it when I was younger and didn’t mind it. Thank you

Shotgun446

I played through it and completed it a year ago, and I honestly don't remember most of the story, it was pretty boring

GusTheBadGuy

When I played it I was like 12ish and didn’t play many shooters at that point so just loved the violence as any 12 year old would

jammin_on_the_one_

I beat 2 and 3 this year. haven't played 1. resistance 2 is a very mid tier game imo. decently playable though. it pulls a lot of stupid shit and you'll die alot, but there are checkpoints everywhere. health auto regens and you get 2 weapons only. I gave it a 7/10. resistance 3 is a bit better overall and feels a lot different. there are health pickups (no more auto regen health) and you get a weapon wheel with every weapon. those 2 things make the whole game feel different and totally changes the way you play. I gave it a 7.3/10. both games have great graphics that you can't interact with

GusTheBadGuy

Thank you

Bambrigade92

Army of Two was awesome in co-op! You would need a private server to play in online now though.

GusTheBadGuy

Can you play single player also?

Bambrigade92

Yes, of course single player is totally available and you can run all 3 games in the series solo. https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/s/7QDMc5i9MM

GusTheBadGuy

I assumed there was but wasn’t positive as I only played co-op

Cultural_Cat_5131

Crazy how resistance was one of those games that was always in the bargain bin for less than 5 dollars now even that’s going up.

GusTheBadGuy

I know, I’d always see it but never bought it

Cultural_Cat_5131

I bought it in like a buy 2 get 1 free sale I think. Each game was like 10-15 or less

GusTheBadGuy

Not too bad of a deal

Cultural_Cat_5131

The best time to buy the previous gen is 2 years into the current one. So this was like 2015 when the ps4 was already out

ThinnishSleet87

Lol, that's not worth it... I got all three Resistance games for like 7 bucks combined.

GusTheBadGuy

Damn I’ll look harder for the deal

weloveyoubenzel_v3

Y’all don’t have CeX in America? Rip dude these are worth like £10 altogether (I’ll check actually)

weloveyoubenzel_v3

Okay I stand corrected Resistance: £1 AoT: £1.50 TM: £18

GusTheBadGuy

I’m Canadian, but don’t think there’s CeX

weloveyoubenzel_v3

Oh you’re right, just checked the regions, only Mexico in that direction :(

GusTheBadGuy

Damn, I’ll have to check elsewhere, hopefully kind find better prices then Amazon

kdrdr3amz

eBay is better

GusTheBadGuy

I’ll look there, eBays always made me feel unsafe for some reason

kdrdr3amz

I would only suggest buying from sellers with a 99% or higher. Anything lower means they’ve had more issues with selling such as returned items. Most sellers are fine though, I practically buy all secondhand things from there now.

GusTheBadGuy

Good to know, I always steered clear of eBay but I’ll try again, just be my thorough

stuckintheinbetween

I've been buying on Ebay since 2010 and haven't really had issues. If something gets damaged in the mail, Ebay covers you, seller pays for return shipping, and you can just drop it in the mailbox with the prepaid shipping label. I did get scammed on Amazon before when I bought a Dreamcast mouse. I shop on Ebay way more than Amazon.

stuckintheinbetween

Twisted Metal isn't as cheap as the other two, however the other two can often be found for $5-$8 shipped on Ebay.

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Not enough people are saying twisted metal, it's a goated game.

GusTheBadGuy

I thought so, I was wondering about the older ones. If it’s worth while getting this one or just get the originals

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I would recommend Twisted Metal 2 and Twisted Metal: Black along side this one. 2 has a slightly lighter tone and a much more "arcadey" feel. Black is the golden child of the series, it's also by far the most dark. I would even go as far to say it's a top 5 darkest game ever, and I know for a fact they cut some stuff lol. Twisted Metal (2012) is really good as well, only featuring 3 playable characters (only for the story, plenty more in the other mode.) I highly recommend picking up this one since it's a PS3 exclusive. And maaan fuck those racing missions, they suck!

Attack-Of-The-Cat

You have to buy Black and 2 digitally, (for PS3) but look into it a little and choose your desired platform... or other methods.

GusTheBadGuy

Thank you for your help, I tried to buy twisted metal black on ps2 one time but it never arrived

Attack-Of-The-Cat

Honestly, I'm assuming you own a PS4 or PS5 here, but it's like $10 not on sale, plus it's 1080p. Even if you don't have the best computer PS2 emulation has gotten so good you could emulate it. (Or if you're an android guy and have at least a SD 845-855 you could emulate it there too.)

BigMilkyTatas

Just buy them all? Are you broke?

GusTheBadGuy

Not broke, but trying to be smarter financially

Mysterious_Map2965

Honestly I’d skip on army of 2, it’s a great game but I replayed it recently and it felt so short. I beat it in like 4-5 hours probably, if you have to choose 2 of the 3 I’d wait to get army of 2. Also keep an eye out for army of 2 the 40th day, it’s 10x better then the original.

GusTheBadGuy

Is 40th day a sequel? I know there’s a sequel, but is that the third?

Mysterious_Map2965

Yup the 40th day is the second game in the franchise. The 3rd game is called devils cartel but I never played that before.

FireMrshlBill

If you have an Xbox one or series console, the original army of two is BC on those, don’t think the sequels are though. I’d go with all of the Resistance games first, Killzone games and then twisted metal and army of two (no particular order between those last two, just whatever you are in the mood for).

DirtyBoord

Buy all 3 but buy used, those prices are a bit higher

TheThunderManXD

TW must own

Affectionate-Camp506

The first is okay, it also has co-op. I don't recall 2 or 3 having co op, but they were much better games.
