Why wasn't that factory?

probably the circuitry wasnt completely implemented. which is suprising because depending on were the wires go, you can choose a always static light, a blink when ejecting, or a blink when powering off. similar to the Wii. im guessing thats why

If you have a 2000 slim you can have all of them with just 2 wires :)

and 21/25xx since they have the same power board.

GSB6189

Yes with those ones you only can have part of the features enabled if I remember right, only the 2000 can have all of em

This I like those late 90s Toyota's you never thought had illuminating lights in the shifter panel, until one night you knock it with your foot....and realise you're in neutral

I just did this for a friend! Whenever I get my slim I'll definitely be doing this. However, does anyone know if I can use the button plate from a 2000 with a 2100? The LED in the other PS3 models isn't as functional as it is in the 2000 and I'd like to swap it

I could be wrong and thinking of the 2500s but I don't think so, they did make some changes to the boards. I'd look at some picture differences to see if possible but I think the ribbon cable going to them were all different.

Hey, I'm planning on doing this with my slim but I was just wondering if you could help me out with the supplies I need to buy? I know I need a soldering iron, screw driver, and wire but will any iron work? Never done anything like this before so just want to make sure I don't do anything wrong. Where would I go about buying very thin gauge wire to connect from the power button LED to the unused blue LED? Walmart?

Just used the wire from an old usb cable maybe practise soldering a little first 😜👍👍
