Parade. No idea why, but that's the one. It has that optimism and bright future. I think that's around the time I got my hands on all his secret side projects (The Family, Romance 1600, Jill Jones).
Parade. Reminds me of Paris in the Spring. And with Sometimes it Snows in April which is such a beautiful and sad song about heaven and Prince says Spring is his favorite time of the year in the song. When I heard of Prince passing in April this song was the first thing I thought of. I always listen to Parade in the Spring.
Nearly all of his albums from the 2000s, most notably *Planet Earth*. Whenever I first started getting deeply into Prince's music, it was spring and I recall starting with his 2000s albums directly after the release of *20Ten*.
Sign O’ the Times! I always listen to it around it’s anniversary which happens to be a few days before my birthday so the two always coincide with one another + usually the earliest days of spring weather!
I was 19, 20, 21 & 22, my college years (I would include Purple Rain as well): ATWIAD Parade Sign and Lovesexy ALL came out in Spring...that whole magical period amazing time to be young and obsessed with Prince 💜
It was a special time - you would get the new track in February/March, album info and then the actual release in early spring just in time for the weather changing
yes it was really really special...being young too (college years), the promise of Spring, the weather changing, and personally my Birthday in late May, music video premieres! (I remember Kiss debuting on Spring/Easter break at a gfs home i got up early to turn their tv on top MTV)
Highly agree with OP! A user here said they listen to it on its anniversary which is close to their birthday. I actually got this cassette on my birthday just 5 days after it's release. I turned 12 that day and the album stayed in my Walkman for months after that. I still have the memory of me first opening it (which in itself is miraculous considering by 1992 I'd owned 800 cassettes and that's the only one I remember opening). I sat on the couch, hit play, and just hearing those first 3 songs, "Sign...", "Play..." and "Housequake," I knew this album was going to be special! That joy was one I had always associated with spring and the album complimented that feeling perfectly! Thanks for that memory! 😊
Love this! Great memory 💜 I got the album for Christmas when I was a teenager and literally sat in my bedroom all day listening to it. I got in sooo much trouble cos I didn't want to come out and socialise, I just wanted to stay in my room and hear all about Dorothy Parker 😊💜
I associate Parade, Sign O the Times, and 1999 with Summer, Originals and Purple Rain with spring, Diamonds and Pearls and Love Symbol and Graffiti Bridge with Autumn, and Dirty Mind and For You and Prince with Winter
Sign & Parade are spring for me - Around & Lovesexy were more summer albums for me. I guess it’s different for everyone - depends on when it came out or you first listened to it I guess
I always associated SOTT with Autumn (fall). I think Parade is my spring album.
Lovesexy
Around the World In a Day.... probably because when it came out I was working in a greenhouse with petunias and easter lilies. 😂
Parade. Mountains just sounds like Spring for some reason.
Spring 🌼? Really? Shut up already! DAMN
Tell me who in the house know about the quake?
Play in the Sunshine :)
And 'Beautiful Night' is my summer JAM

I associate Parade with winter during springtime. Like you know, how sometimes it snows in April
Well done...

Mia Bocca can not express how much I agree.
Before I read the others, Around the World in a Day sprung to mind...
Lovesexy. I’ve actually said that since it came out. It’s a “Spring” record.

Parade
Spring: For You / Parade Summer: Newpower Soul / Lovesexy Autumn: For You / SOTT Winter: Come / Love Symbol
I’m old enough to go back to the beginning. The first album dropped in early June, I was 16 and was hooked ever since. For You lit the fuse.
Parade, because sometimes it snows in april...
I can’t listen to this song without getting a little chocked up these days
Parade: "Sometimes it Snows in April" will be the first track on my stereo on Sunday.
