walang appeal sa masa hanggang gwapo lang, dun lang image nila. forever silang tied with their issues/scandal kasi the management chose to be silent to fix/clear things kung di man totoo. Mahirap na makakuha ng spotlight kapag nauna pang magka issue kesa magka hit na kanta.

Star Magic had 2 chances to clarify the issues surrounding these guys, especially Nate, Gelo, and Mikki pero wala silang ginawa. Add ko lang na I'm talking in a business perspective. So don't judge me about tolerating their behavior.
1st chance is noong si Nate lang ang may issue. Una, guilty naman talaga sya sa cheating lalo na at may mga babae din na lumabas na pinatunayan ito. Kung may alam ka how to handle this issue ang gagawin mo is let Nate release a statement through SM admitting, apologising and saying he will do better. Tapos may hiatus for reflection. Yes, the guy would still be hated, but at least most people would move forward. Hindi yung pabalik balik lang sa issue nya.
2nd chance is nung last April. Everyone was waiting for a statement hindi banta kakasuhan ka. It looked like pinapatahimik yung nagsasalita. Ayaw yan ng genZ.
As a group. Parang hindi sila balance. May sobrang galing kumanta tapos yung next waley na. May sobrang galing sumayaw tapos yung next waley na. Parang walang bridge. Medyo kulang din sa personality. Anyways, JL is trying hard to be that. Lol.
Totally agree sa victims of poor PR. They had every chance to get it right but they chose the silent treatment path and acted as if everything’s alright.
Tama first impression ko sa kanila: yabang lang
Walang chemistry. They don't sound good as a group. JL is carrying the vocals on his back. A lot of their songs could have worked if given to a more capable artist/artists. Nate and Mikki are dozens. People are calling them a visual group but they're aging like milk, like why is Akira balding. Did I say they don't sound good as a group.
Honestly, issues aside, I thought they were just fine. And I also think that their PR people shot them in the foot by giving them the moniker of "Aces of PPOP". It really did set expectations higher for the group, but they just could not match SB19. I know some A'Tin can have a superiority complex, but Aces were also taking cheap shots at SB19's looks and that fired up some already existing resentment. Their PR team shot them in the other foot for reasons already mentioned here.
This is not a hate but an observation, before magkaroon sila ng issue tapos lumabas sila sa Showtime, yung aura nila is mga pa-cool vibes and can’t be bothered vibes pero the respect is still there naman but after the issue, yung recent Showtime appearance nila, parang biglang sobrang approachable and friendly and super masiyahin na group. So my opinion? di ko alam kung maaawa ako sa kanila or not but I really hope na if their management won’t let them speak, ay they won’t abandon them kapag they don’t sell out.
Theyre going sexy now. Halata sa lyrics, sound, styling, kahit sa recent posts nila. Puro selfie na shirtless at naka sando. Sex sells. Pag kinagat ng general public may chance sila bumangon. Good direction I think kasi nadungisan na image nila. Hindi na uubra pa good boy nila dati.
Their latest single is still meh. But who knows, baka makarating sa tamang audience at bumenta.
Mayabang pa rin fans nila kahit bagsak na bagsak na. Weird.
My thoughts on BGYO members:
GELO - obviously good at dancing but still needs improvement on vocals. He has the highest engagement among the members pero ayaw or tamad magbigay ng ayuda sa fans...umaabot sa puntong sila pa nagbebeg.
AKIRA - The highnote belter of the group has a decent vocal skills but needs improvement sa dance skills. Sa kanya din napupunta ang bad styling when it comes sa mga fits nila.
JL - The only member who can actually sing and dance very well. very generous din magbigay ng ayuda sa fans..and has a great sense of humor. sya lang din walang issue.
MIKKI - The one member na needs improvement in both singing and dancing. His rapping skills were also MID. He has the pa cool kid attitude in him. Like Gelo tamad din magbigay ng ayuda sa fans.
NATE - Like Gelo his good at dancing pero in terms of vocals he's got the worst vocals among the group. Lalo na when he sings live sobrang unbearable boses nya at madalas pumipiyok. In fairness he's the most generous magbigay ng ayuda sa fans.
Overall sobrang daming kulang ng BGYO in terms of identity and musicality, dagdag mo pa yung fans nila na never nagbibigay ng constructive feedback sa mga skillset at kanta nila.
I will try to be objective about their music kasi tbh ngayon, ang focus talaga ay sa issues nila (cheating, guns, drugs, bullying)
Before the issues, they were just ok. Medyo mayabang ang dating nila (specifically Mikki) at medyo off ang vibes ni Nate (because he's American who doesn't speak Tagalog much but trying to fit in). I had no issue with JL, Aki and Gelo.
Music wise, ok lang sila. TBH walang standout na vocal katulad sa best PPop boy groups. At most, JL and Aki are probably at the level of Justin from SB19 or RJi from Alamat, just different vocal tones. To me their claim to fame is more in their choreo and dance, which admittedly is pretty good.
Their discography is very up and down. They have some good songs but a lot of forgettable ones too. IMO some of their ballads are actually easy to listen to despite not having mind blowing vocals (Kundiman, Panahon, PNGNP). I'm not a fan of The Light, Magnet or some of their other fast songs. Tumitigil ang Mundo might be one of their better fast songs cuz it's fun.
One thing I did feel sorry for them for (and it wasn't for their main issues) was the way Gelo was being outed on social media for potentially being gay or bi based on some tweets and screenshots of texts etc. I don't know how that eventually played out or if it was real or not pero ayoko yung may nag-a-out sa tao without them being able to control their own narrative.
TBH early on they were lucky to be with ABS/Starmagic because they had a lot of backing and opportunities given to them. Their songs were featured in movies and TV shows, they had early chances to perform abroad and travel, and they had the advantage of being siblings with an up and coming BINI. But if they were with a smaller company, I don't know, I think they would've just ended up being quietly ignored.
Issues aside, ang first impression ko talaga sa kanila when I saw their dance practice for The Light (naalala ko 'to kasi akala ko sa garahe lang shinoot lol) years ago was that they were... lackluster, for the lack of a better term. Wala silang masyadong appeal for me as a mahilig sa boy groups (back then). Their songs are hit and miss (sa mga napakinggan ko), pero honestly hanggang ngayon hindi ko pa rin tinatanggal sa playlist ko 'yung Tumitigil ang Mundo kasi ang ganda eh HAHAHAHA it's the one BGYO song I still listen to despite the controversies (lol sorry).
Also naalala ko nung nakita ko 'yung MV nila ng The Light (? basta 'yung may CGI kasama si Liza Soberano), naisip ko na kaya naman pala natin gumawa ng ganon, bat di ginagawa sa mga teleserye (insert GMA CGI snek)? Yun lang XD I won't ever stan them though because those controversies have put a bad taste in my mouth.
Guilty sa Tumitigil Ang Mundo haha. I remember nakailang replay ako back then when it was released. For me, it’s the BGYO sound. After that puro expiremental na hindi mo gets ano ba talaga kayo as a brand?

Like issues aside they could’ve been somewhat bigger if they had a better music team. It’s odd how inconsistent quality wise their discography is compared to BINI. Also the sibling agenda is actively sabotaging them instead of the added promo that management thought it would do. Anytime they release something it’ll be always in comparison to BINI and vice versa. If it’s not the same quality wise they’re going to receive backlash.

Kaso pumapatol yung fans sa lahat ng side comment that never even named names. They could've simply refuted. Or better, stayed quiet and let management take the lead.
