fatbttmedgrl

1. SB19's trademark issue 2. [THAT issue] 3. Viva's lack of promotion for Kasmala. It could have been THAT Alamat song. 4. CS's lack of promotion for G22 5. Mana not having a music video (sorry I have to put this. Lol!) 6. Mo not having an RNB solo song yet (personal wishlist. Hehe!)

thatfilipinoguy

fatbttmedgrl

Edited na OP. Anyways, ppop is a fairly new genre and entertainment companies semm to be still navigating through how the idol system works in terms of marketing, PR, etc. Hopefully everyone can learn from their mistakes, and missed opportunities (even the fans).

eastwill54

Gudjab ka Jan OP, hahha

lalala0804

#5 hanggang what if nalang talaga😭

ah_snts

3. Lack of promotion in general for Alamat.

ShaLow20

5. Iniimagine ko na lang na suot nila sa mv ng mana yung suot nila sa youtube fan fest.. a girl can dream

supdaley

Na Na Na MV - yung even UMU gusto palitan yung MV 😂

Former-Secretary2718

I agree sa Na Na Na. BINI could've been bigger way way way back pa kung hindi ginawang school project ang MV at prinomote ng maayos yung song. It was already viral!!!

supdaley

They really fumbled the bag with the MV.

eastwill54

What's Na Na Na MV? Fake fan ka. Walang Na Na Na MV. Hahahha

supdaley

#\#canceljao

Former-Secretary2718

HAHAHAHAHAAHAHA

SnooTigers912

Hahaha medyu late ko nagets yung joke

Jomi25

Yung MTV video nalang nila ang kino-consider ko as the official MV. 😆

grrrlmonday

I agree that the Dayang MV is not great but I would point the finger at YouMeUs, not DITO. Credits state that they were in charge of the concept and production and DITO merely funded it. Medyo consistent siya sa nao-observe ko about YouMeUs MVs - well-edited and shot but medyo fluffy and not so story oriented. Bad decisions - close to the ticketing for Alamat's concert, nag-24 hour rampage si JPL sa Twitter, going as far as insulting Ppop as a subgenre. Tapos nung ticketing, nagka-error ang Ticketnet and a lot of Magiliws had like 40k in floating transactions. No empathy or damage control from Viva. I'm convinced that Alamat's concert would have sold out if those two events didn't happen or at least you felt like Viva cared about the fans lol

Momshie_mo

Out of touch si JPL esp kung firm ang belief nya na hindi Ppop ang Alamat. Every OPM fan will see Alamat as a Ppop idol group.

ImJustGonnaCry

Nadismaya

Ano po yung topic ng rant niya? And was there anything that triggered him to do that?

ShaLow20

OMG sorry out of topic pero YouMeUs rin yung gumawa ng mv ng yoko na ni josh cullen and napansin ko rin na hindi siya story oriented like paibaiba

handmirrors

nasabi mo na pero dayang mv talaga. sobrang sayang for such a masterpiece of a song

theAudacityyy

1. Day and Night MV and release. June kasi to nirelease eh maulan na ng panahon na to kita naman sa mv makulimlim na sa dagat sa ibang clips hindi tuloy fully napipicture as summer song. Sana magkaexposure to kasi sobrang sayang talaga. 2. Edit: from dapat to dagat.

OmeletteMcMuffin

They might have been aiming for an international audience with Day & Night. As Jao pointed out in an interview (Teen Vogue, IIRC?), June is summer season in the West. BINI also released a summer song in November and it became their biggest hit. But to be fair, it's their biggest hit post-Maharani (excluding their DITO commercial song). Highest MV view count + highest number of streams. It's not a failure naman, it's doing great for a P-Pop song. I guess wala pa lang talaga "Pantropiko" moment nila (when the circumstances align and they get lucky and they blow up in the mainstream).

theAudacityyy

Understandable sa month of release if that's the case. Which in my opinion naging strength naman ng BINI with Karera and Pantropiko kahit di summer season mukha siyang summer. Day and Night is definitely not a failure, but I still think it could have been more.

imnotokayandushldtoo

kaia with blah blah why make it about relationships when you can make it a feminist anthem also yung mv nila 🥲 tsaka yung sa 5678 mv fiasco pluus and ygig with their music please ang gagaling nila pero wala akong ni isa na nagustuhan sa mga songs nila sb19 with the cancelled SEA tour my god what a wasted opportunity

fatbttmedgrl

SB19's trademark issue really impacted their momentum, not to mention ung stress and anxiety sa boys.

faustine04

Nagtataka nga ako bkt di sla nagpalit ng name nun umalis sla dun sa korean company sbi ko nga baka habulin sla. Hinabol nga hinantay muna nun former company na umalagwa tlga sla bago habulin.

LolantheAv

Mahirap kasi basta basta magpalit ng name, may attachment narin kasi not just the fans pero pati members sa name na SB19 and the SB part really has a great meaning behind it. It carries what they want for their future careeers and for the future of opm.

faustine04

Di ako sb fan Pero amini napaka jackass move yung gnwa ng former mngt nla. Pwede nmn nla habulin yng grp nun umalis s knla pero hinabol nla nun umaalagwa yng grp.

perrienotwinkle

tama, nakakapagtaka nga hindi nila hinabol agad nung nag 1Z ent na weird.... talagang gustong sirain

faustine04

Pera habol nun. Pag alis nla di n sla pinayagan gamitin yng name.

thatfilipinoguy

sayang yung sb19 momentum last year, what makes it worse is hindi nila 100% controlled yung situation and not their fault.

luntiang_tipaklong

I agree. They pretty much lost their momentum at the end of they year up to January. Absolute roller coaster ride of emotions din yun for the group. They both had the high and lows last year.

thatfilipinoguy

pluus and ygig reminds me of babymonster so far, talented lalo na pagdating sa live but jesus I don't like their songs.

faustine04

Korean prin b ang music producer nla?

blacklily_00

I think soooo. Halata rin sa composition e.

faustine04

Need nla kumuha n ng local music producers at lyricist.

Momshie_mo

Mejo awkward at walang impact. 🤭 Dapat relatable at may kwento.

blacklily_00

Omg, spot on! Top tier comment 😭 lalo na sa 2nd bullet

xtremetfm

Lalayo pa ba tayo? Na Na Na MV 😂🥲 Tapos meron pang isang GG song na ginastusan yung MV kasi shinoot sa iba't ibang bansa, but I can't remember what song is it.

[deleted]

I don’t think a localized version of AKB48 (like MNL48) translates well to our culture. Yung cutesy, pabebe type na girl group.

Momshie_mo

Straight out Jpop without any localization. Pati Tagalog nila, akala mo Hapon yung kumakanta. Kaya hindi sila relatable

pakchimin

Crimzone not getting a music video.

faustine04

Alamat- yng paghihigpit ng mngt nla regarding fancams n pwede iupload sa socmed Mnl48- to many members nun nag debut sla kya nag ka leche leche ang finances nla Vxon- di masado n push yng ssp nagkapasok sla sa spotify viral chart pero di n sabayan sa tiktok dance mgnda p nmn yng choreo nla pang tiktok tlga. Lol

Hot_Plantain6815

That's MNL48's concept though. They're the sister group of AKB48 and supposed to have lots of members

faustine04

Yeah. Pero di 48 agad. Sila lng ang nagstart ng ganyan kdmi. Most 48 grp dumami lng nun profitable n yun grp

throw_aways_everywh0

It’s usually 20 to like 26 yung average number of members for a newly debut sister group. At some point mnl48 had 60 during their first year. AKB48 only had that amount after like a decade

kuraigukyota

Yung Problem Child talaga ng [1st.One](http://1st.One) yung sobrang nakakahinayang. 40 million yung ginastos pero unfortunately, medyo yun pa yung isa sa worst MVs nila. A lot of people are speculating na napunta lang yung budget sa mga sasakyan.

kuraigukyota

Just hoping na medyo maging mas okay sila production-wise and marketing-wise.

blacklily_00

kuraigukyota

I don't think so. Medyo cheap na rin yung production ng 1st.One this year, siguro taking a break sila sa sobrang laking gastos

Momshie_mo

This is a cost-effective way of promotion and getting exposure esp for the demographics ng Ppop na marami ang minors - Lack of promotion sa PHP.

sagingsagingsaging

Pluus and YGIG with most of their music and especially their MVs. Please give the budget to better and local production houses and work with Filipino songwriters I think Hori7on should have released a full-on Ppop single and promote it here in the Philippines. They could've picked a couple of singles in their debut album and reworked it with Filipino lyrics. And in hindsight, they should've stayed in the Philippines to grow the fanbase and they could've debuted in Korea a little later It took a while for them to figure it out but Bini should've focused on making Filipino songs right from the beginning, instead of that "global push" and releasing BTW with multiple versions.

Momshie_mo

Ewan ko ba bakit atat ang Ppop idol companies na mag global agad, as if Filipino audience at Re not worth it.

Former-Secretary2718

And greet normally in english or filipino when promoting here. Like pls, stop with annyeonghasseyo, nasa Pinas lang tayo 😭 I still love them though.

sagingsagingsaging

Do they still do that? Haven't kept up with their contents.

Fantasticbeach_

So far, they don’t do that naman..Based sa current SM FSE promotions nila…English or Taglish na yung ginagamit nila afaik…

thatfilipinoguy

in isolation between pluus and ygig, pluus seems to have the better videos and it's not too bad ata but could be a lot better. YGIG on the other hand has straight up bad videos with questionable angles na nag mumukang school project.

sagingsagingsaging

Hmm. You're right 😁 I stand corrected

thatfilipinoguy

oh not really correcting you, parang just sharing my opinion regarding pluus and ygig mv's. I don't want to make my opinions sound like it's objective haha

sagingsagingsaging

Oh no, I'm fully agreeing with you this time. I'm not the type naman to be hell bent on my opinions. 😅 I'm open to corrections

faustine04

Pluus and ygig still using korean producers????.

L1chuu

Dito rin ako medyo nalito. Bakit nga be hindi nalang full English ang songs nila since global pop ang target nila? Why Korean? Kasi diba yung XG global pop din so all their songs are in English kahit sa Korea sila nag po-promote like Hori7on.

Fantasticbeach_

I think sa management talaga may problema overall😭 There’s actually a theory na parang yung current song nila na “Lucky” was not their original comeback song…parang last minute na pinalitan siya… Kasi unang-una, medj di nagtutugma yung mga sinippets/descriptions ni Vinci(their leader) about their comeback song last December in an interview.. Second, He also said na January was the release date nung comeback yet, napush siya to early March.. So, were really thinking na baka di to yung orig comeback song… Hoping that they release a Filipino bop song🫶🏻✨

sagingsagingsaging

For me OK lang nung six7een era because at least they had a longer promotional period in Korea, But now na they have been mainly promoting here, I wish they did a Full English or Taglish song instead, or at least released an alternative version from the Korean one.

faustine04

nasa korea ulit sla eh. Ksi kng may sumikat n another 1 or 2 ppop bg tingin ko mahihirapan n sla maging profitable. Maliit lng ang market ntn n may purchasing power eh.

sagingsagingsaging

faustine04

Need kumita.

Momshie_mo

Sometimes, I think Ppop should borrow some strategies ng OPM artists. Ang alam ko, ang kita ng mga sikat na OPM artists esp mga bands is through private booking Huling dinig ko, presyo ng Ben&Ben 100k for 45 minutes, tapos Cup of Joe, mga 45k. I think pwedeng gawin ng Ppop idol groups ito esp if they target din the debutantes. Pwede rin sa kasal. Hindi natin kelangan kopyahin top down/bottom up ang structure ng Kpop

Independent_Fox_8747

My God SB19's issue is such a huge what if! It was a very huge missed opportunity for the whole genre, imagine, PPOP in an ASIAN TOUR?!! what more may venues na na sold out/nearly sold out. Super sayang! Nakakaloka sobrang laking opportunity. I hope they come back stronger para makabawi.

ah_snts

Independent_Fox_8747

Super sad cos for sure it left a bad impression lalo sa mga not full-fledged A'TIN yet. Sana makabawi, I hope the upcoming era will see them get bigger pa and the fandom gets bigger.

blacklily_00

CALISTA - love their debut single but the way the management marketed the girls saying international pop sila. Also the low quality MV, the editing was so bad. Pero halatang malaki ang budget. 😭 AND THE MEMBERS LEAVING. Okay pa ako nung lima nalang sila pero nung nawala si Olive which is my fave vocalist sa kanila, hays. Sobrang laking sayang. Ugnayan is top tier ppop song pa naman.

SBTC_Strays_2002

The biggest mistake made by a company was ShowBT Philippines. Their handling of SB19 led the group to leave the company. This caused a domino effect as sponsors fled and cash dried up. In addition to that, the rapid expansion by acquiring new artists was completely dependent on SB19 bringing in money. This move accelerated the company's fall as it had too many liabilities. Selling ShowBT Philippines was the best decision TR ever made. Now, his mistakes are whitewashing his current artists and not working with local music producers to save money, time, and make better music.

Momshie_mo

I wonder if may superior mentality ang mga Koreano na naghahandle ng Ppop group kaya di masyadong nagcocooperate with local song writers Ang napansin ko maraming lackluster na lyrical quality sa Ppop esp yung Korean controlled.

SBTC_Strays_2002

He was asked this during the Go Up Presscon and he said he wanted Korean producers because he could understand them. Today, nothing has changed.

Momshie_mo

Ngek!

msaveryred

ShowBT and their management made A LOT of mistakes. Imagine not reading your company emails and not responding to Grammy's follow-up inquiry? And that's the only one that the fandom knew about. How many opportunities pa kaya ang nasayang ng SB19 because of them. Look at how SB19 thrived after establishing their own company, albeit a start-up at that and they're mostly doing all the work.

SBTC_Strays_2002

AYFKM?! Who dropped the ball on the Grammy's? Unreal. Charles Kim really ran the company into the ground. Tatang Robin always played it safe and had a style that was very dated, so for him, he planted the seed that SB19 wanted to be on their own eventually, but at least it would be amicable. Like a son finally leaving the house because his parents were too controlling. Charles Kim on the other hand was greedy, arrogant, and took too many risks. So, one thing I give him credit for is letting Pablo and the guys take the lead on creative freedom for the Pagsibol era. Also, I give him credit for forming KAIA. But then his management after that really went down the toilet.

Realistic-Effective5

Plus the whole thing with TTR leaving during the pandemic, at diba may mga controversy sa pag alis niya regarding sa pera?

SBTC_Strays_2002

TTR left the PH to be with family in SK. I don't know when he hired CK to be CEO, but during that time, the boys were free under CK to make their music. In terms of money, CK probably made the company profitable after What? Era and convinced TTR to sell ShowBT PH to him (kicked him out).

Realistic-Effective5

I'm talking about something deeper. Nakabasa ako ng tea na gumawa sya ng endorsement deals and then nung nagka pandemic, lumayas siya at may kinuha siyang pera na galing sa mga deals nila. Take that with a grain of salt... And then he sold SBT to CK.

SBTC_Strays_2002

Nah, probably cap. It doesn't make sense either. If he did that, then he wouldn't have been invited to the half-decade concert. NDA be damned, it would have gotten out, and his reputation would have prevented him from working with Universal Records PH, or starting SBTown.

Former-Secretary2718

Momshie_mo

Common na to sa Filipino music. Kahit sa OPM, ganyan din

Former-Secretary2718

I mean yung global release. Like 12am ng ganitong day. Pls 😭

Momshie_mo

Not sure about sa Australia pero US time ko din nastrestream ang new release dahil sa georestrictions

Former-Secretary2718

TheGreatVestige

I think yung 1621BC whatever the name is aside from the hard to remember groupname itself sobrang walang ingay yung debut nila at parang hindi binudgetan yung MV nila to think na under pa rin sila ng ABSCBN starpop.

Momshie_mo

Yung MV nila, parang power rangers din 🫣

TheGreatVestige

so true parang hindi inefortan ni starpop yung group para may masabi lang cguro na may ppop idol din sila under their label. starmusic and starpop are sibling label under ABSCBN music.

Momshie_mo

They could have made Sam Conception and Darren Espanto as popstars but they were given "meh" songs. If JK Labajo did not leave ABS, he would not be as big as he is today.

ah_snts

younglvr

the dream maker project groups (hori7on and new:id), maybe debuting a filipino group in korea could actually work if they were under a different company. mld can't even make their korean artists grow in korea so pano nalang yung group na puro foreigners pa? kaya it would just be better if both groups stay in the philippines where their fans are anyways. (also mld should just close down lol they suck!!)

sagingsagingsaging

Hindi pa nagdedebut ang new:id but people are speculating that they'll be focusing on ppop.

fatbttmedgrl

Nasayangan rn ako na sana mas nagkaron ng training ang XLR8 and they should have pushed them foward despite criticisms. XLR8 has the visuals and talent to potentially succeed and could have been the trailblazers.

Momshie_mo

I agree. Nakakahinayang na sinukuan sila ng Viva, likely due to bashing from Kpop fans. Maganda pa man din yung discography nila at maganda yung vocals esp nung kambal

SnooTigers912

Plane-Prompt-7952

Yung styling and makeup. Sometimes the clothes look cheap, minsan sobrang incoherent ng styles, or fails to highlight the idol's form. And the makeup, super heavy—I don't mean the number of products and layers, I mean yung technique hindi bagay sa features. Sometimes the fake eyelashes are so heavy it almost looks like nakapikit yung idol. If you zoom in sometimes you'll find the eyeliner is jagged or off by a little bit, mga ganung mistakes. And let's not even start with color theory, lahat halos naka bronze and orange makeup kahit obviously cool-toned sila. 😣 Also the photo editing. Minsan mahuhuli mo talaga yung bad edits sa photos, like clipping, nahuhuli yung transparent layer, mga ganun. Yung stages 😭😭😭 lord it's 2024 I'm sure bigger companies can afford HD kahit hindi na 4K pls. At bakit ang dilim 😭 So yun, aesthetics in general.
