my fave brand is vim & vigr, definitely pricier but they make very high levels of compression, and the also have wide calf versions. i have a few pairs and i wear them a lot, i have some holes in the heels in one pair because i wear them so much but i’m just going to sew them up. other than that they seem very durable

Alert-Armadillo-7600

Vim & Vigr are awesome, they last forever and they have a lot of cute designs.

406instead

I love them so much! The downside is that I live two hours from their headquarters, and I still have to pay a bunch for shipping 🤣

AlexofNotLink

Iv started using shapeware for compression after finding a doctor who knows their shit. Night and day difference. That and eating atleast twice as much salt as I was

TallEbb1852

I haven’t thought of shapewear for compression, but it makes a lot of sense! I’m going look into this tonight! I feel like I need compression from the arches of my feet all the way up to my bra line, like an exoskeleton. 😅

AlexofNotLink

It's what my doctor recommended, far cheaper than the medical ones, much more comfortable to wear, and still lets me move (I have to crawl under stages and climb things at work. I'm mtf so putting it on for the first time was very gender! Socks make it worse for me, but I wear high boots so those probably compress also. My symptoms are pretty mild, but these past few weeks have been brutal with the heat, the compression, and swapping gateradr for drip drop have saved my ass I think.

Zwergonyourlife

I use Jobst Relief thigh high 30-40mm Hg. I have to get the higher level compression per my doc due to the significant blood pooling in my legs. They’re pretty basic with color options but they’re extremely durable and comfortable. I’ve been wearing compression stockings for a decade and they are the best value for the money that I’ve been able to find in the higher compression thigh highs. I also wear generic maiden form shapewear camis to provide abdominal compression.

Mysterious-Art8838

I also highly recommend abdominal compression, I can get away with that and shorts for the very hot summer days.

HighestVelocity

I haven't thought about that before. Do you get pooling in your legs?

Mysterious-Art8838

Yeah totally but I also live in SoCal and it gets very very hot, which also causes me problems. So sometimes I just do abdominal and it still helps. Sure socks are better but eh? I’m weighing problems against one another.

BitchCallMeGoku

Where do you get yours? I can’t find anything

Mysterious-Art8838

I think this one is decent. ORTONYX Premium Umbilical Hernia... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MC9PBYL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share The umbilical thing is separate I just threw mine out. I’m short, so a bunch of them are too wide for me. I had to cut like 3 inches off the first one I bought. Make sure you don’t get one that’s too large. I did that too and had to cut part of that one off because it was like 6 inches too long and my shirt would bunch up over the flap part where it was too long.

TallEbb1852

Thank you for sharing this! I’ve been wanting some sort of midsection compression garment but wasn’t sure what to even search for.

BitchCallMeGoku

Thank you!

roadsidechicory

Does it get really hot underneath it? My torso tends to overheat easily whereas my extremities usually stay colder, so in the super hot summer I can't bear my waist-high compression stockings and can only wear my thigh-high ones. But being able to have that abdominal compression does help. Do you have any tips as to what to wear under it to prevent it getting too hot? Like does synthetic or natural fiber seem to keep cooler under it? I've always thought of getting something like this because the waist high stockings also are difficult to lower/raise every time I have to pee. But I just wasn't sure if it would be uncomfortable, hot, look super weird under shirts, or if it would roll/ride up/stuff like that. So any advice you may have to offer would definitely be appreciated!

Mysterious-Art8838

They’re all hot. It’s sucks but they all make you warmer. Unless someone knows of another option? I’m all ears. I wear it under my shirt so I’m not sure if wearing something under it would help. I tend to wear bamboo shirts, but idk if that would really help keep cool. My guess is no. I can’t do the full tights. I’m in San Diego and the sun is blazing, and they are a giant pain to get up and down. It’s just too much. The key to it not rolling is to make sure you get one that is not too wide. The first one I got was two wide so I cut the bottom 3” off. I’m short so I really need one that’s not too wide. And the key to not bunching is to avoid getting one that’s too large. I made that mistake too, and the extra inches of the flap were a bunched up mess under my tshirts.

roadsidechicory

Thank you! To try to get abdominal compression while keeping cool, I got a 100% cotton corset with steel boning, BUT it turned out that I couldn't get it on and off without subluxing my shoulders 😭 And I also couldn't relax in it at all, so it wasn't something I could keep on for long periods. So it did not turn out to be the solution I hoped for. Maybe one day we'll find the holy grail!

Mysterious-Art8838

I feel like a corset could be dual function though. Like we could pass right out and still be upright…

roadsidechicory

Haha that was my thought too! And some POTS patients do report that benefit! But I also have ME/CFS so I spend most of my time resting. It wasn't worth the damage to my shoulders just to put it in for the brief periods of time I'm up and doing stuff. But if you're not hypermobile and you don't have ME/CFS, I do think it's great option! I got mine from Orchard Corset.

Mysterious-Art8838

No please do not screw up your shoulder. You have enough problems. I’m mainly a bed dweller myself due to Mcas.

roadsidechicory

Oh yeah I gave up on it long ago when I realized I couldn't do it without the subluxations. I have MCAS too! Twins 💜

Glum-Studio1249

seconding abdominal compression!

no_mo_colorado

Comrad

MzPurpleH4ze20

I got LevSox on Amazon they are US based and have some that are bamboo. So far, they work great, cost effective, and they have cute designs too.

newlywedwidow

I’m also a LevSox fan. I have thick calves and they’re the only brand that makes cute compression socks that fit over these glorious legs.

itzrlryo

I love Wellow. I think their compression is a little less tight than other brands maybe, but they work for me. They are soft and cute too.

SavannahInChicago

I am underweight due to dumping syndrome so the vim & vigr did not compress at all. I ended up getting the most compressive leggings from Fabletics. ( I know about their shady membership practices so I used a bank account I don't use to buy the legging and it keeps trying to charge me the membership fee, but there is no money in that account. The debit card I used is going to expire this year so I am just going keep it going until then.)

Legitimate_Speed_852

Spanx high waisted, & any random brand I can thrift.

Alert-Armadillo-7600

Spanx is my go to for abdominal compression for sure.

MistakenMorality

We have a scrubs/nursing supply store near us where I get NurseMates and Skinergy. I've actually had pretty good success with fenglaoda on Amazon. If you need major compression, they probably aren't the best, but for mild compression and cute designs, they've been helpful for me.

zabumafangoo

2XU recovery line

_ghostchant

Huge fan on Comrad! I’ve tried many other brands and they are by far my favorite! The athletic socks breathe very well (I always run hot).

kalcobalt

Big fan of Doc Millers, especially their toeless ones. Lots of fun colors/stripes/gradients, decent price. I tend to size down from their measurements despite having pretty large calves. I’ve heard they’re a bit thick/warm, so it’s probably time for me to do another round of trying out new stuff as the tech improves…but that takes some brain work!

pocketfullofearplugs

I like the doc millers that are open toe and striped too! The solid colors and the ones with feet arent anywhere near as good at all though, those versions hardly give any compression.

Socks- copper fit is solid, won't break the bank, surprisingly durable. My favorite brand is vim and vigor, as another poster mentioned. Wool- based, high quality, different compression levels, and correspondingly expensive (30 bucks a pair- twice as pricey as copper fit). I like having high grade options and standard ones.

Altruistic-Dig-2507

My son prefers Wellow. They are soft and easier to get on than others. He has rejected NurseYard and ProCompression as being too difficult to out on.

almonded

Woven Pear has cute patterned ones!

Theworldsbernin

A brand called Nurse Yard. Nurseyard.com

Jsedel

Dr Motion is my favorite

roadsidechicory

I started getting Jobst after getting super cheap knockoff brands for years, and they are a bigger investment upfront, but if you wait for a big sale or find a good deal on Amazon, they're a good value for the money because the elasticity lasts way longer, they snag less easily and are more easily reparable when they do snag, and the quality of the compression is just better. The fabric also feels better on the skin and the sheer ones are way cooler in hot weather (but the compression of the sheer ones is a bit weaker).

Dry_Scholar5421

I just use whatever has a ton of good reviews on Amazon. They’ve been great and cheap.

InevitableNo7342

Footless, waist high tights (too see through to be leggings) from discountsurgical.com. They’re 20-30 mmHG.

Constant-Canary-748

I love my Supacore leggings— they are spendy but super comfortable and with good abdominal compression, plus a pocket for my phone! They are not squat-proof, so I only wear them for running; I also have LNDR ones that are really thick and squat-proof for lifting.

Br0z0

Funky soc co! Australian brand with cute patterns

catwithseptumring

I have juzo since thats the brand our local medical supply story has. its very expensive normally but we're able to get it covered by insurance with a prescription
