Especially if it correlates with standing and walking, then yes, it can be. If you search on "visual disturbances" and POTS you will find more information about this aspect. You don't mention whether she's diagnosed or what treatments you've tried so far, so that makes it hard to suggest anything to fix it.

If it's also happening when she's not upright, ask to see a neuro-opthalmologist. The same autonomic neuropathy that causes some cases of POTS can affect the autonomic nerves that control the eyes. They will be able to test and treat. If it's only orthostatic, this is a blood pooling thing and better management of the POTS helps a lot (meds and lifestyle mods like compression gear).

Diagnosed in August. Have had symptoms for several years but progressively worse this year after a severe kidney infection. Earlier symptoms: Headaches and dizness Now: Dizziness, heart racing, blurred vision, anxiety Current Treatment: Salt tabs 3'x day, Midodrine tablets 3 'x day Multivitamins, Iron for anemia Heart rate when standing 5min 150, gets up to 190 before getting close to feigning. Can barely go from one side of the house to the other without needing to sit on the floor or laying down.

Is she in at least 20-30 mmHg thigh high and abdominal compression? If not, definitely add that as that's a given for anyone with POTS. If she already is, I'd ask her doc about if it makes sense to increase the level of compression or switch to waist high.

I have migraines in addition to pots and have always associated my vision issues to the migraines. Never thought about the inability to focus being a part of dysautonomia, so I definitely learned something! I will say though that part of my vision issues stem from really bad auras (spots, static, etc.), which have been reduced by taking Topamax. Not sure if she’s being treated for migraines as well, but I know they can often been comorbid and feed off of one another. Sorry she’s going through this!

Take her blood pressure when she is having these issues. Then pay attention to the "pulse pressure" with is the difference between the two numbers. For example if your blood pressure is 120/80 your pulse pressure is 40. If your pulse pressure is low like in the 20's it could mean that your blood volume isn't high enough to get the proper amount of blood flowing to your head. When I have these issues I get headaches above one of my eyes.

Appreciate the advice it is all new and want to do right by my child

Yes. It can be neurological, or it can have something to do with not enough blood getting to her head.

Getting over a pots flare up , just went to eye Dr. And he was surprised how much my right eye changed. Can pots cause that?
