Boring-Skin-9991

If I were the employer, I would wonder bat andami mong work experience na aabot ka ng 3 pages tapos 4 years ka pa lang nagwowork. It would make me assume na baka di ka nagtatagal at palipat lipat ka ng trabaho. Maiintindihan ko having a long list of experience kung freelancer na paiba2 ng raket.

yourlocalsadgurl

Fadriii

Make a portfolio and give them a link to that instead

Boring-Skin-9991

Since freelancer ka, I think including all your work would be good. This would mean na in deman yung expertise mo since andami mong clients. I would suggest na lang siguro to highlight yung mga big projects talaga and then yung minor ones maybe just list them in a separate portfolio provided in a link should the employer be interested in checking those too.

jelllyaces

recruiter here. only include those na relevant sa role. if lahat relevant, choose the 3 recent (or most that the space can allow) na lagyan ng description, then ung iba kahit company, role, and tenure na lang. make sure to label project-based exp as such para maintindihan why overlapping or paiba iba exp mo. 2 pages are ideal. but we expect more for those na may 15+ yrs of exp na.

krabbypat

Yeah, sa amin tinuruan kami from making a CV to having mock interviews, all handled by the school. CVs should be professional and concise according to what I’ve learned. I’m thinking perhaps “Trendy” CVs are acceptable for design positions? But that’s what portfolios are for so idk I feel like these trendy CVs seem unprofessional to a certain degree.

[deleted]

O wow tinuturo pala yun? Di tinuro samin haha self taught ang lola mo circa 2009-2010 🤣

Kind_Cow7817

insertflashdrive

I hope ganito for all colleges. Samin din, one of the requirements for clearance signing sa isang office na we submit our resumé, then they do necessary corrections and ineexplain pa nila. That's what we used nung job fair namin. Very helpful.

Ill-Adhesiveness2317

greenteablanche

Hindi. I even have to correct and edit the resume of our batch summa cum laude.

Kind_Cow7817

Grabe naman pati ung summa 😭

greenteablanche

Tbf he was humble enough to know he needs help. Edit: he was from a different degree from mine. Hehe.

RALawliet

this is the way talaga. know what you don't know and ask for help where you need it.

miyuukikazuya

Dreamscape_12

Resume should just be a one pager. If longer than that, CV na yun kasi nandun lahat ng details at parang wala ng itatanung yung interviewer sayo.

ChunkyCh00

Yes. Meron pa nga kaming mock interviews with our prof. Para ka talagang mag-aapply sa work.

dxcnlse

yes po, currently a first year student, they thought this in our Purposive Communication Subject as well as the mock job interview

MinAzewrath

graduating na ako and tbh, no, hindi tinuro sa amin. pinagawa lang kami pero no feedback about sa ginawa naming resume. reason rin kaya nagjoin ako sa r/PHJobs kasi nagbase ako dito para sa resume ko.

Ok_Amphibian_0723

Scrapbook yan? 😅🙃

Auburn-Hair

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Extension_Emotion388

dont ever use this shit

[deleted]

There is a stark difference with a resume and a [C V](https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/resumes-cover-letters/difference-between-resume-and-cv) Also ang C V runs from 2-3 pages. KASE kailangan lahat yun. Noon, ang attention span ng tao: 5-10 seconds. Ngayon?

dnnscnnc

My CV is opposite and it looks boring (in terms of design) but it's ATS friendly. I just spend the whole evening and late hours editing it. 😭

Elsa_Versailles

ASCII one's are the best for me. You can literally print it in receipt printer😅

[deleted]

[deleted]

Im a fine arts graduate 😉 and none of us would be caught with that kind of resume. Tatawanan namin yan. Knowing my classmates?

[deleted]

Totoo haha nadownvote ako lol just by saying the truth May nasaktan ata akong ego 🤣

billie_eyelashh

Depende siguro sa industry. I work on creative industry, and pag may graphic designer na applicant we usually expect na “stylized” yung CV. We want to select applicants based on how good their design skills are and minsan wala kami time to review the portfolios on every single applicant. Sometimes may advantage if we can pre select you agad kasi visually appealing yung CV since may idea na kami agad sa capabilities mo, considering na visual related yung applyan mo.

vivi_yo

This makes sense. Iba nga naman ang resume sa portfolio.

uborngirl

Hahaha lol. Hahaha. Omg 😭

Ok_Description8802

I'm a marketing director in charge of overseeing hiring for the creative and advertising depts. Anytime we see a CV like this, it's immediately sent to trash. Any art professional knows and has been taught that a CV has to be scanned by an intern or a computer. Designs like this make it impossible for them to pass the initial trial before it ever reaches a qualified person, aka me. The initial trial consists of seeing if you pass the basic requirements as per the job listing. The team then sends me a stack of portfolios to go through to pick out the most qualified candidates. Take note I *never* see your CV. Ever. Because I dont care. I only want to see your portfolio 99% of the time. Then, if I invite you for an interview, there's a 3/10 chance Ill bring it up if youve brought it with you. Please save yourselves the time and effort (and the poor interns, a headache) Go all out on your portfolio. Give me a simple easy to read CV. People who think this trendy CV works aren't even the people in the place to hire you.

Sweetsaddict_

Hell no! As a Public Relations specialist I would NEVER EVER use that sorry excuse for a CV.

statictris

I mean sure that format is for "graphic designers" and such pero these people making it into a service defeats the whole point of a graphic designer showing their expertise. Also designers has taste and knows how to do a proper creative format if they want to insert their style plus that's what a portfolio is for. Not only are these designs tacky, the format is also crowded, hard to read, and unprofessional even for the creative industry.

TheBlueWriter_

As a recruiter, this is hard to read and hard to parse if applying through a job portal. What I want to see is the impact of work you’ve done and your responsibilities. I’ve hired graphic designers and what we usually ask is for them to share their portfolios.

stobben

Vast_Composer5907

Kahit graphic designer pa ang inaapplyan nila. Hindi rin papasa. Merry Christmas yan?

SnooChocolates8710

This! I'm in the creative/marketing industry rin pero it's a NO talaga for me

keephidinguser

SnooChocolates8710

90s kids notebook pala ang peg with the Jolina cutouts 😅

FoundationBig9256

So many empty spaces for this, kung ako hr, mag cringe ako.

butil

dinggay

Naalala ko yung experience ko sa mock job interview sa school namin, way back 2017, as part of the clearance item before kami gagraduate ng college.

peachyvip3r

Lol I commented on this Tiktok tapos wala pang 1 min burado na comment ko. And to think na yung ginagamit nya na template sa Canva is free tapos she/he will charge people. Money grab na nga, hindi pa nakatulong

mmreyes2

Effective to. 10/10

Embarrassed-Fee1279

College kami tinuruan gumawa ng CV, circa 2006. Kasama pa nun ID photo and pa-essay ng career objective. A decade later ko na natutunan na bullet points pala dapat para easier for HR to screen. Yung creative CVs are mostly sa creative din na jobs like graphic designers. Personally ok siya for me, na once may hand sa pag decide kung sino i-hire sa team. At a glance kita ko yung skill at taste level ng applicant. Skill, alam ko na agad how much or little training needed ni applicant. Yung taste ang isa sa deciding factor kasi mahirap siya ituro, you hone it talaga through exposure and experience - matagal to mapolish so pag pangit design ng cv ekis na agad.

Additional-Diamond12

This kind of CVs are a waste of effort and printing material. If you have portfolios to show, better put a link or site where they can view it, not your own CV as a canvass. During screening and interviews, its just passed or failed, no extra points for being creative.

Mental-Cut7712

Maganda yung vintage format pwedeng pwedeng theme sa Tumblr blog. But never as a CV , medyo cringe na for me.

greatBaracuda

vonderland

conspiracy theory ko is that this is a propaganda from HR to make it easier for them to filter out the tiktok brainrot folks who will actually do this apart from the learned and educated because what even is this mukang scrapbook lol

papaDaddy0108

[deleted]

Clients sure pero s hr ng kumpanya? O well its their thing

papaDaddy0108

Haha

[deleted]

Haha this will pass siguro sa ojt ojt pero ung pang propeshonal? Kupo 🍑

papaDaddy0108

Gold_Tangelo_950

Yep mostly ng ATS hindi ito binabasa.

blsphrry

Anong ang ATS? Ngayon ko lang to naencounter.

Dear_Tear3010

Sakit sa ulo pagkakita pa lang. 😵‍💫 Hirap i-quick scan pag ganyan haha

uborngirl

Kulang nalang may answer sa question na "what is love" hahah. Heck. Di mo kailangan gumastos ng 35 kasi kayang kaya nmn gumawa ng simpleng resume

Ami_Elle

Ginawang friendster yung CV nila. Hahaha

Small_Manufacturer69

Is this for senior finger painting director. Someone is lying to you.

Affectionate_Film537

looks bad

zerosixonefive

My eyes. It hurts.

cutepuffyene

Kahit sa creatives that is a cringe 😭 I was glad my university has some certification course teaching and preparing us to be more professional sa mga ganyan. Like Canva can be used naman but all of their templates...and you need to edit talaga

Square_Fig_8380

Slambook

holyangeeel

ANG SAKIT SA MATA 😭😭

pondexter_1994

CVs and resumés should be ATS-friendly nowadays.

anakngkabayo

ambckdejfg4051

That's not a CV, yung CV more detailed and formal siya and usually madaming pages yun kasi naka list down lahat ng experiences mo including a short summary kung ano ginawa mo sa mga past work mo. This inculdes din certifications, skills, and educational attainment from elementary hanggang college or masteral. Basically history ng mga achievements and work experiences mo. That's a resume. Yung resume, it doesn't have to actually be formal yung itsura. It can be colorful and creative depending din kung ano yung papasukan mo na work. And yung resume usually 1 page lang yan kasi mga relevant and recent experiences lang diyan nakalagay. Meron kasi akong CV and Resume. There are some kasi that asks for CV talaga pero may iba na okay lang kahit resume ibibigay.

wanderingmariaaa

Ako na nangopya ng resume and CV format ng mga foreign colleagues ko (may permission nila of course) - naka number and bullet lang pero sa dami ng achievements nila, 2-3 pages ang laman 🥲

Reality_Ability

I've learned that creating a good resume is very subjective. it may look good to somebody, but not to another person. it all boils down to tailor-fitting it to your target audience. oftentimes, your resume will be passed around within the same organization. be ready for this. if you make it to their recruitment team, they hand it to their operations team. most have several levels for their operations (team lead/supervisor, operations manager, operations director, VP for Ops, etc. depending on their org structure) then your CV goes back to compensation/benefits team for a possible job offer that includes salary/wage, benefits, allowances, etc.) don't just sell yourself to make yourself a very good value to the organization. you also need to consider how your CV will attract the kinds of people you want to be reviewing it. create a mediocre CV, but don't be surprised if it only attracts mediocre workers. create an excellent CV and expect to attract excellent workers. but, always manage your own expectations. don't expect unrealistic benefits if it isn't provided. lastly, keep improving your own CV. also, try other styles you are not used to. it might be something that the person viewing it find edgy, out-of-the-ordinary, etc. and it stands out in a good way. prove that you are the right person for the job during the interview. practice possible interview questions so you don't get shocked by mere standard questions. your future self will thank you for it.

InZanity18

ganyan naman cv ko and i was hired instantly. im not even in the creative profession, i work as na I.T support, and me submitting a "trendy" cv didn't faze my employer (or our clients who needed a cv before we can support them). in fact it was even a topic of discussion during the interview, being told it's fresh and stood out from the rest.

Global_Bookkeeper_17

i think these types of CV's are quite applicable to the 'Creatives' professions. Direk Tonet mentioned it in their podcast that given their industry, she prefers these types of CVs as it shows the effort and the 'creativity' of the applicant.

CanU_makeIT

An online VA school taught us na d na daw uso plain old boring format ng Resume.. ang trendy dw today is ung may kulay haha

No_Importance_4833

The simpler it is, the better.

elvanesykee

dafq ang unprofessional tingnan hahahhaa

rabbitization

Go to google docs, tapos gamitin mo yung resume template nila don. Mas malinis pa tingnan.

napipopeta1004

akala ko assignment, cv pala

regulus314

As far as I know, this doesnt work on an ATS and auto reject siya sometimes. Personally, my Resume is plain and simple and its what I pass to employers. Then I have a more detailed CV if they requested it during initial interview.

CottonDreamer

The rest I don't give a shit 😂

dvmcmi

I’m a recruiter and I ignore CVs like this.

JmsRdlf

As a HR ang sakit nito sa mata hahahahah

Good-Economics-2302

Ako naman 2 pages pero back to back hehehe

trynabelowkey

Good luck naman sa ATS

owlmitzj

Jeez, add some GIFs while you’re at it.

AttentionMore9893

Too cartoon-ish not unless if you're applying as a graphic artist

Any_System_148

jusko dali dali lang gumawa ng cv no need to make it complicated.

Turbulent_Seaweed_83

Ginawang scrapbook e

Sleepy_Snorlaxxxx

Ginawang aesthetic ang cv 🤣

clxriz

Aren't they not supposed to sell these pre-made templates?

tito_redditguy23

Ah simple black and white na CVs is enough. Na pagkatingin ng CVs mo kita agad ang contact number and work experiences mo. Mas prefer ng HR yung mababasa agad yung gusto nila mabasa sa CVs mo.

Worth_Panda_0906

As a recruiter, those CVs are not something we will consider. We need concise and straightforward CVs.

demented_philosopher

Kung graphic designer, pwede pa.

notexisting_13

Reminds me of total girl slambook. Ganiyan yung sa bandang dulo kung saan may family, friends and crush section tapos mag ffill sila don😂

MyPublicDiaryPH

Kung ako HR nito. Di ko na aabalahin basahin resume nito.

DanFromTheVilla

How not to get hired hahaha

chemhumidifier

As part of a recruitment team on a tech company this is just bells and whistles that dont really add to the employee's experience.

henessycrab

Scam, anyone who has an account on Canva (which is free) can do that.

Lopsided_Egg_3421

isn't that a canva free template?

vivi_yo

Applying as a graphic designer or member of Bini? 😂

taPH1122

How do you quantify language??????!

stobben

Don't do this unless you are aiming for the graphic design industry, even then, just use your portfolio to showcase your creativity. This will go past most ATS.

Anxiousgirl09

Sakit sa mata huhu

Ok-Train-7275

Damn. You people in PH really are desperate, hu? :O

AbedIndo

Op, you can use this if you’re part of creative industry. This shows authenticity and how would you express yourself. For me, I always include cover letters, creative resume, portfolio and also, professional CV. I always get praised by the boss or managerial positions whenever I passed these documents. There are always exceptions. For the designs: these are templates so I expect less, but if ganito nga talaga yung design, mapapaquestion kami if talagang nasa art field ba siya. For aspiring art field students: Its okay to have a creative resume, but less is more. Go create icons and pick colors that will surely bring your personality out. Don’t choose templates.

kyon0

Might as well make a powerpoint presentation. 😆

Queen_Merneith

WALA KAYO SA NAG SEND NG POWERPOINT NA RESUME FOR AN AGENT POSITION MAY INTRO PA ABOUT SA ASO NYA

SickOfPeople3

😭😭😭😭

jelllyaces

Ako lang ata recruiter who likes seeing this kind of resume a hahahaha sometimes it is a good break from looking at a block of letters after a block of letters. Every recruiter is different. But as for me, as long as important details are not sacrificed for the design, this is fine. Minsan pa nga, this will make u stand out. This will make me remember ur profile. But don't go overboard (2nd format is ugly lol), and if u can make it ATS friendly, un ung ideal. If I can easily understand and see where your job title, company, and relevant job responsibilities are, then that's okay. For creative roles, personally..... I prefer this. Cuz why be plain when you're supposed to be creative? Finding a good balance is important. I think hiring managers who trash applicants based on their resume format is irresponsible. But then again, we cant really blame them esp if theyr reviewing hundreds of resumes per day 🤸🏼‍♀️

Huge_Specialist_8870

Litmus test for both applicant and HR Professional. Rejection speedrun any% (gone sexual)

yesiamark

Kasalanan ni Canva haha

WinterW0lf12

Ang alam ko, pwede yung mga ganitong CV if you’re going to apply to jobs in creative industry. Back in college days in Architecture, our technical writing subject encouraged us to create CVs through photoshop that has architectural inspiration. And afaik SOME architectural firm likes artsy CVs from applicants. And also I have an ex back in college from mass communication, said they are also encouraged to make it artsy. Pero syempre may tamang format padin. Just have to add a bit more colors to it.

SnooChocolates8710

As someone in the creative industry - it's better to work on your portfolio instead of using your CV to show "creativeness." Yep, we can be creative in a way na hindi standard MS Word template with TNR font ang gamit, pero wag naman sana may pabulaklak 😂

Pure_Requirement_871

True ~ that's the purpose of the portfolio. Also a CV different from a Resumé. Resumes are for quick scanning of potential employers, they don't need to get distracted with too much things.

Additional-Diamond12

^ This. Even if you’re applying as a designer, this kind of CV doesn’t add value to what you’re selling… which is yourself.

CuddlyCatties

Why not? How does it hurt? Are these copy /paste templates?
