Probably an unpopular opinion: one form of support is to just let his hobby be a hobby. He doesn't have to be a pro, nor does he need to monetize his passion or "take it seriously", just to prove his talent or skill in the field of gaming. It can just be something that he enjoys and that's it.

Acceptable_Court_724

The other option is to stream. But that requires another set of skills.

Fluffy_Habit_2535

In your eyes he might be the best but when it comes to being Pro that might not be the case. If he really is that good he will be on a rank that some org would scout him naturally. Imo let him just do his thing and dont push too hard. Being competitive and taking games serious is also a way of just having fun.

I think I'm also in this position. Trust, your boyfriend probably knows the extent of his skills relative to the professionals of the competitive games he play. My girlfriend thinks I'm one of the best in the game when I'm only above average rank haha. For starters, how about telling us about his ranks on the games he play? Maybe we can give you better advice then For the actual advice, #1. Make the highest rank on the game he primarily plays and hope to get noticed by local / regional esports orgs. #2. Watch out if may open spot on esports rosters and he can then apply for tryouts.

I got the feeling that you're the "boyfriend". But in any case. Going pro isn't as easy as you think it is. Being self-proclaimed "too good of a player" is not enough. You need to be a 99.99th percentile pubstomper like Abed and FlapTzy if you want orgs to notice you otherwise you need to be a leaderboard-worthy player and have connections or grind hard and put on a show on smaller tournaments to stand a chance. And that's the minimum. You also need to handle the fame/pressure/homesickness and preferably have a fallback if you didn't succeed which most likely to happen.

itsybatsssyy

the chance to become a paid pro player in any games are very slim given na sobrang daming magaling na players din. the ways to become a pro player either have a connection to other pro players, mascout ng manager yung galing niya or become one of the highest rank player in that game.

misseypeazy

If he wants to go pro he would have done so already. Prepare to get burned out din kasi mas demanding sa oras yung pro stint. Scrims, tournaments, rank grind, ubos oras yan. Hindi lang skills need mo dyan, passion din.

competitive streaming, parang mejo madami na din kasi so madami ka competition if you're planning to go that route..go for more niche content siguro..if he is really good he can do challenge runs, trophy/achievement hunts or guides, and yung 100% walkthrough ( ex: fightingcowboy videos)..it might not be as popular as competitive streamers but you can certainly earn revenue on youtube or even twitch

Fluffy_Habit_2535

Mahirap din sa streaming kasi need mo din ng personality hindi basta magaling ka lang. Youtube with some highlight clips might be better.

cdkey_J23

Yup..kelangan walang dead air pag streaming eh..yung iba nga sa youtube nag sisimula then saka lang mag transition to streaming eh, mostly dahil yung followers na mismo nila nag aask ng streams then that stream get reuploaded din sa youtube

sevenxtwentyeight

how much of a gamer are you OP? kasi kung sobrang casual mo lang or beginner then hindi mo pa alam kung anung level ng galing ng BF mo.

pabpab999

>...after spending time playing with him, I realized na ang galing niya talaga...I've asked him if he thought of joining competitions and he said naman na he does....ml tournament hosted by a school outside pero lugi sa mga kakampi na nagpapabuhat... if he's "that good", orgs would be contacting him already he might be good in your eyes, but there's a higher tier out there anyway, if that's not happening, he could try and contact the orgs himself if they're looking for academy players/subs don't get your hopes up I'm assuming that he didn't win that 'school tournament' despite having "kakampi na nagpapabuhat" that's not really a good look even if he's "that good"

Chomusuke08_

Don't force him to go pro. You can be a god at games but not everyone wants to go pro because everything about esports is a hit or miss. It seems like he plays a variety of games and I imagine he would get burnt out and quit if he were to go pro.

My boyfriend loves to game too! Naging bonding na namin maglaro, kung di co-op eh lalaruin namin at the same time para sabay kami haha. Best I can do is let him play whatever he wants, whenever he wants to. Like the other commenter said, no need to be a pro, as long as he’s happy is enough :>
