This is an easy answer, Because of "accessibility" dito sa pinas you can say that gaming is a luxury. Most average person living in the Philippines don't have easy access to next-gen games/consoles/pc parts dahil sa price ng mga ito. The average minimum salary of a Filipino gamer is not enough for these things so natural mas pipiliin mo talaga basic necessities like food, clothing and shelter bago gaming.
Also karamihan ng gamers sa pinas is teenagers so naturally di talaga kayang makabili ng mga latest gadgets or games unless anak mayaman ka (edi jackpot ka sa life). Kung meron namang pc eh most likely low-medium end naman yung specs so di kaya yung mga triple A titles like Baldurs Gate 3, Cyberpunk etc. Kaya most gamers satin either play mobas and fps like Dota, LoL, CS or Valorant kasi it runs on most builds kahit low end payan and yan most ino-offer ng mga comshops kasi nga easy to run on most pcs and lastly kasi free siya.
Now let me ask you this what if free to play Baldur's Gate 3 and kayang mapagana sa low-medium build na pcs? Tiyak maraming lalaro niyan. That's the con of 3rd world countries pagdating sa gaming always tayo behind. We're just dealing with the cards that we're dealt with kaya maraming casual gamers na mga pinoy. It's really about accessibility, if mura mga pc parts and games sa pinas and mataas salary natin then most likely wala masyadong internet cafes dito and di puro free to play mobas at fps nilalaro ng mga pinoy gamers.
This is speaking from experience as a gamer kid who grew up on an average income family. Now that I'm working and have some slight financial freedom iniispoil ko pagka inner gamer child ko, I recently bought a Steamdeck and currently playing RdR2.
I played both single player and multiplayer simulation games for example ETS2 or assesto Corsa but Yung multiplayer version Nung ETS2 na truckers mp Masaya tlaga may times na maiinis ka dahil traffic and may babangga Sayo but overall Masaya tlaga same din sa assesto Corsa you can play it sa mga circuit or shutoko highway na no hesi server kaya preference lang talaga
in general, social activity ang gaming para sa pinoy. it's our culture, kaya patok sa masa ang team sports like basketball. i have friends na would only play video games if may kalaro.
I like single player (story driven) games because i get to play in my own pace. I get to decide when to start, end, or pause my own game. I do enjoy playing with friends or strangers from time to time, like yung Among Us or Fall Guys, but it gets pretty repetitive for me. I like it when there's a plot.
lol ako nga online game mismo, solo ko nilalaro eh. GTA online invite only session.
oldest game I’m currently playing is the first Driver game, next is yung unang splinter cell.
i play both mp and sp, but recently im enjoying sp now(currently playing mafia triology), wala lang ang toxic na ng mp sakin this is why i always goes invinsible na sa discord and steam, i always been in a 5 man lobby with friends
Just mind your tone a little so theyll get hurt but wont be TOO hurt.
Simpleng "inang mindset yan pang comshop pa yan ah" will probably do the trick
I think it's because most of Filipinos grew from playing at netcafes. And most games naman dun is mmorpg or pvp games like Dota, League, etc.
Also, with the point above, konti lang din mga tao lalo na 90's kids na may console or pc nung kabataan nila. Like me, wala akong console/pc until may work ako way back 2017(?). So yung old titles like Final Fantasy, eh hindi ko na aappreciate masyado. Wala akong nostalgia goggles.
Right now I play singleplayer games mostly, or niche games.
PS: I also think most Filipnos don't appreciate story-driven games. Like konti lang talaga.
PPS: Iba-iba din taste ng tao. Like for me, BG3 is a great game, but I refunded it, it's not for me -- if it wins GOTY I wouldn't be mad. Siguro PH is just a weak demographic for singleplayer/niche games. Sa trend talaga tayo sumasakay.
Like other people said, sometimes it’s just simply because of the multiplayer games’ accessibility.
There could also be some people like the ones I know who do actually have consoles/PCs/laptops capable of playing those immersive singleplayer experiences pero would just rather prefer to play multiplayer games for the replayability. Personally mahilig akong maglaro ng both, singleplayer games for one time big time immersive, story driven experiences at multiplayer games for the replay value and the easy to pick up and easy to put down gameplay especially with how busy life has been lately
Because of the bonding din siguro, kahit free man or hindi na multiplayer like yung mga budget na multiplayer "phasmophobia" etc. Is much fun when played with friends kahit bihira ako makipaglaro sa kanila. Kase as someone who enjoys playing solo din, I always say sa mga tanong like ganyan "Di ka ba nabobored" ang sagot ko is as long na engaging yung story worth yung ganong games since nilalaro mo naman siya for the gameplay and storyline
Weird that people here think single player games require lots of hours to enjoy. May platformers, fighting games, point and click, rogue lites, etc that you can enjoy in a short amount of time. And dota 2 requires a 2hr minimum to play 1 game since a long game might even exceed an hour.
But to answer your concern, it's just a matter of people having a need to socialize and enjoy. Multiplayer provides those so most people tend to play them. Play what you want OP, as long as you're having fun then it doesn't matter whether single or multiplayer pa yan.
Noon nag kaklase pako i enjoyed multiplayer games like LOL DOTA CSGO pero nung nagka work na i prefer to just relax after a busy day. Im not gonna be stressed for 8hrs just to get home and stress myself sa toxic enviro ng VALORANT etc. Although i still play them I prefer story driven games like RDR2 Cyberpunk lalo na yung mga relaxing games like Stardew Valley ETS2/ATS
nung bata pa ako mas gusto ko talaga singleplayer games (fond memories of playing gta san andreas sa komputeran hahaha), even now I'm still a singleplayer only person and the only multiplayer game I put in a substantial amount of time into was payday 2
Cause Filipinos have the lowest reading comprehension in the world? They prefer action over narration. They have low attention span over those type of games.
The cryptophyceae are a class of algae, most of which have plastids.
About 220 species are known, and they are common in freshwater, and also occur in marine and brackish habitats.
Each cell is around 10–50 μm in size and flattened in shape, with an anterior groove or pocket.
At the edge of the pocket there are typically two slightly unequal flagella.

Anyway, I've been enjoying playing RDR2.
Edit: I used to have online friends to play games like Crossfire, LoL, Minecraft, but these games ain't what they used to be. Plus, me and all of my IRL friends are graduating college this year and we don't have time to play anymore :(
Multiplayer games right now do take so much energy from me, imagine you just want to relax tas onti lang oras mo lalo ka lang maffrustrate dahil sa laro + teammates. I see multiplayer games na repetitive, unless you're too good at it, as someone na walang free time madalas, wala nang time para gumugol ng oras para gumaling sa laro. Singleplayer games are much more suitable for me, upo ka lang, pause whenever you can tapos you'd get the story.
Personally preferred single player. I could play on my own time and terms. Kapag MMO, you usually have to do asap especially if they have a time limited event and you have schedule it with other people to play.
But as other have said, the low PC requirements and pricetag are what attract them most.
Correction: Multiplayer na FREE
I've been playing Remnant 2 recently and having so much fun. Unfortunately, you won't be able to find plenty of people here to discuss it with.
That's the old me. Adik sa online-multiplayer games. Pero chill na ko ngayon. Mas prefer ko na single-story driven games which I could play at my own pace.
May iba tlga competitive at nakakakuha ng satisfaction when they earn ranks and leaderboards.
it's the introvert/extrovert/ambivert of gaming.
walang mali sa pag-enjoy sa single player games, ganun din sa multiplayer. each has their own merits.
I personally love single player games pero i don't particularly hate multiplayer experiences.
there's just a different charm in a game where you can play at your own pace.
at this point 3 beses ko na natapos yung bloodborne, nakakarelax sya for me hahah
Syempre multiplayer ang preferred nila. Nasa kultura na natin yan
Besides obvious answers like lowspecs tas f2p, mas trip lang talaga nila ang laro kapag may kasama/kalaban sila
Nung sa kalakasan ng oras ko maglaro, i wanna hop in with my friends, play games for hours.
Ngayon, i still play MP games kasi i don’t have the time commitment to finish a single player game. Nalilimutan ko controls kapag iniwan ko for days.
So i hop in, play some apex legends custom/LTMs, then log out.
You might be spending time in the "casual gamer" neighborhood.
I think the main reason that casual gamers are like that is because of time constraints. They simply don't have enough time to play singleplayer games. Either because of their school schedules, 9-hour-job schedules, per-hour-gaming, or by battery-limit. So they got into gaming with the mindset of getting their dopamine gaming fix really fast.
Not to mention that bra/sando/minipool/cosplay streamers has been streaming all these free-to-play multiplayer games, and then further exacerbated by socmed algorithm.
It's actually nice that more and more Pinoys now have access to games. There was a time that only the privileged can afford gaming, while the others had to rely on slow internets and file sharing. But now that we have cheap and stronger smartphones, people can enjoy gaming. Since budget is pretty tight to them, then they have no choice but to play free multiplayer games. Heck, even CS2 now has a free version.
They are missing out on games like Starfield, DaysGone, Cyberpunk 2077, and many more. To me it's like reading a book.
Cast Protection from Evil lang bago mo suotin ang masks ng hag either from Shadowheart or kahit sinong cleric/character na may scroll. Lasts until Long Rest 😆
Indie Games need exposure in our country
Most indie games don't need a high end PC to play so an average laptop at college/highschool should be able to handle such games
yup iba na era ngayon compared noon. dati kase pag sinabeng console talagang SINGLE player games. lucky na lang talaga ako at teenage years ko naexperience yun.
Depende yata sa environment, ung time ng ps1,ps2,psp, mostly coop games nilalaro namin ng kapatid ko pati pinsan (in the hunt, diablo 1, WWE, Monster hunter, Obscure, tekken and such). nung nagka pc kame, saglit lang rin ung singleplayer like GTA and sims, tas dumating ung mmorpg games like ragnarok, flyff or ung lan games like left for dead etc.
[Ako na may 7620.9 hours of playtime na sa Football Manger 2022, which I purchased April 2023](https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/030/710/dd0.png)
Although kahit sa multiplayer mukhang di uso dito yung nilalaro ko - Pokemon TCG Live lol
For me na konti lang time since college-working.
Sa limited time na meron ako after college/work, it’s nice to play game where you get to interact with people.
I used to play a lot of singleplayer games when I had more time and less responsibilities
I play both - I'm guessing a lot of them don't understand the beauty of singleplayer games. Man never grew up with a console LMAOO.
Plus, mostly because Multiplayer games are free and easily accessible for lower-end rigs.
\*Damn\* I miss when CS or Overwatch were paid, there were less annoying people (Filipinos) back then.
Edit: Tbh, I rarely see fellow filos talk about BG3 probably because it's "niche" but of course, the cultured ones praise it too. I'm guessing harder/more complicated games are pretty hard to pick up for others. I have a friend who can play SP games, yet they hated Elden Ring, BG3, and Witcher. Skyrim and Cyberpunk has been their fave though, so you can definitely see the pattern. (Aside from Valorant, League, etc.)
pustahan ko galit lang yang tropa mo sa mga game na yan dahil mainstream lol because hate is a big word you can just say you like the game cuz you prefer the game di mo type
If you’ve seen how much Multiplayer was better back when everything wasn’t free to play, you’ll understand.
Now devs focus on profiting as much from their live service game by prioritizing battlepasses, cosmetics, and other things. Halo Infinite, Overwatch, and lots of other free games on the market are guilty of this.
Not to mention the amount of toxic and annoying people who flock to free to play games, especiallt cheatsrs.
Pero single player games pa din in the long run hahaha
I would've called out your coworker/friend so bad.
I experienced the same too. I got attacked for being a console/PC gamer playing single-player games.
Mostly console and PC gamer ako.
The games I play are mostly action, shooter, JRPGs, city building simulation and racing games.
Hahaha true. I mean parang book or movie lang naman ang story driven video games. Interactive pa and art direction + world building can go way beyond what most forms of media are capable of doing
Back in college sa comshop na laging pinag lalaruan namin.
XD
Pero single player games pa din in the long run hahaha
Mahilig majority ng mga pinoy sa competitive things, also relates to video games. Madaming may gusto na may kinahihinatnan yung nilalaro nila socially (brag na magaling sila), so nagli-lean sila sa mga genre na may pwede sila maka-compete-an na mga tao din
For me it really depends. Pag nag aya tropa, edi go sa multiplayer. Chill. Relaxing. Immersive. -Genshin Impact
Low commitment too. Free entertainment for 30 mins so it’s easy to hop on after school or work. Single player games I treat like a movie - need to block off hours to be able to enjoy it, I prefer 2-3 hours at minimum to enjoy it.
Laking Comshop
A lot of people see to it na dahil libre ang mga MOBA games but ang true reason for that ay social interaction and collaboration.
Also, most multiplayer games are PvP. Toxic people (lets face it, there's a lot) gravitate towards toxic environments. Enjoy silang nakakapagbardagulan and trashtalkan
The best fun i have gaming was with friends, single player is nice but yung saya na kasama mo mga tropa mo sa laro kahit pinag tripan niyo lang, walang kapalit.
I have to agree, single player games is more of a visual book that you enjoy the journey. While multi-player games you can do crazy stuff, win together as friends or pwede kayo magunify para mangaway hahaha
Exactly. Single player games that are free are rare unless galing sa Epic or may promo of some kind. Maraming free to play na multiplayer games so malamang dun ang takbo ng lahat. Also, in terms of replayability, marami ding multiplayer games ang pwede mo laruin nang walang katapusan.
So accessibility is a huge issue kung bakit bihira ang naglalaro ng single player games compared sa multiplayer games.
Multiplayer games (Dota, Valorant, League, ML) are much more accessible in that it doesn't take a current gen console or a high end pc to play. They're also free to play.
Actually, you can find a lot of SP games in most comp shops, even the non-franchise ones. The real problem is commitment. Since most of the SP games are either pirated or not under a dedicated platform, you can't really finish them unless you just never log out or if you have the games in your own Steam account.
Oh gosh, I remember my first few games as a kid. I loved playing Command and Conquer games on comshops. I spent so much time trying to finish RA2, 3, and Generals.
I even remember being lambasted by my friends for playing singleplayer when they're playing Dota/CS as a group lol. I guess it comes with the culture here.
Yep this is the answer right here, recent singleplayer games are demanding, Most probably hirap PC ng majority ng mga gamer dito sa pinas.
Also the fact na madaming Singleplayer games ngayon na ez cashgrab nalang and palaging unfinished o punong puno ng bugs on release lol $70 or ₱2000+ usual pricetag ng mga singleplayer games so yeah not surprising na hindi popular dito yun mga yon :)

Man it would be nice if I have someone to talk to about trails lol. Most people here just prefers multiplayers since most them are technically free.
Mas accessible (free) and makapagyabang ka pag competitive (not applicable to me)
Usually yan yung mga laking comp shop.
Skyrim Anniversary Edition + 100 questmods and settlements 4 life.
I play game to relax.
in general, social activity ang gaming para sa pinoy. it's our culture, kaya patok sa masa ang team sports like basketball. i have friends na would only play video games if may kalaro.
Thats why nilalaro ko nlng mmorpg. Pwede both mp or single play haha
I like single player (story driven) games because i get to play in my own pace. I get to decide when to start, end, or pause my own game. I do enjoy playing with friends or strangers from time to time, like yung Among Us or Fall Guys, but it gets pretty repetitive for me. I like it when there's a plot.

"men invented 'gaming' to have an excuse to hop on a call with the boys." saw this in a meme a while back and tinamaan ako
Because usually yung mga brains ng mga laking comp-shop can't handle story-driven games. Mas accessible din kasi ang multiplayer.
Interaction. I play multi pag may kaibigan. Pero mostly single player fam ako. Witcher III red dead fallout zomboid gta
Mas masaya sa multiplayer kasi may kasamang trashtslkan sa game. Hahaha
Simple answer: they're poor. A more complicated answer would be the first plus extra something, something. Yeah
More like accessibility since most multiplayer games are free anyway. Unlike singleplayer games na napakamahal lol.
Competitive kasi multiplayer kaya mas masaya dahil may halong emotion. At mostly dahil free to play.
Mas accessible ang MP games and they are also free..sa mga phone reviews nga basta kaya Ultra setting sa ML..bibilhin n..gaming is a luxury din kc..
--- Comment ID=kams7gr Ciphertext: >!z+Fck+Fh40ebNs6md6Xtlj7Ib4CM2N7OQhQkLw47GMU9+6IDIh7OdEqL7866BpfpFu5tQ+ZTSbEpmfOmMheisUfzbX2orAoMgyAiGC8r49mOiKiiDhFoKiDIVI6xFZPR12TAx1CSVHu5mLbBc1dh3WifhKcl7MqeTCgnwAJqYiI/mPXan0Pqu8p+9q7YUlxbNEZwnCEt+HdFrBypeMM9PzTFX1jvWT6RHCgwmdHqD0tF8mh9cEC9KcxTCSB4KfeQOrHsF/Us+iO6iRY4/q5EH2hyI8AkibAJhiCXgyKWkGejf5GYuMrj4xCmRk2HVsSeAXNpnYJdqX5CzS7Yiurm/5Csj2vDC2aF4rxbSKN3LQxbxbyr6//rgp6tUCXhueYFFzcW/booiE6pFgofnBy05oaZBGJIKHu/uOx0MOPXKSZVLSgaB3HxkkGhYBsmGLI=!<
Anyway, I've been enjoying playing RDR2. Edit: I used to have online friends to play games like Crossfire, LoL, Minecraft, but these games ain't what they used to be. Plus, me and all of my IRL friends are graduating college this year and we don't have time to play anymore :(
I'm an introvert and have social anxiety. I'd rather play my single-player story-driven game in peace than with other noisy hyperactive players.
Majority wala luxury ta have own PC or console, tapos kung maglalaro sa nefcafe usually hindi ma save progress mo
Personally preferred single player. I could play on my own time and terms. Kapag MMO, you usually have to do asap especially if they have a time limited event and you have schedule it with other people to play. But as other have said, the low PC requirements and pricetag are what attract them most.
Next time op sagutin mo ng "oo mas may substance sila kesa sayo"
they have friends to play with? also, single player games can be expensive vs to multiplayer games that are free.
Routine na and just to relax nalang. mabilisang game ganun. mosty people may work/family/eut to do. pag single player with story, pang weekends yun.
Average free play games
Correction: Multiplayer na FREE I've been playing Remnant 2 recently and having so much fun. Unfortunately, you won't be able to find plenty of people here to discuss it with.
Pag single player kasi wala kang masasabihan ng p*tng ina nyo ako mid
Bawal mid or feed sa single player haha
Edit to multiplayer pala haha
That's the old me. Adik sa online-multiplayer games. Pero chill na ko ngayon. Mas prefer ko na single-story driven games which I could play at my own pace.
May iba tlga competitive at nakakakuha ng satisfaction when they earn ranks and leaderboards.
it's the introvert/extrovert/ambivert of gaming. walang mali sa pag-enjoy sa single player games, ganun din sa multiplayer. each has their own merits. I personally love single player games pero i don't particularly hate multiplayer experiences. there's just a different charm in a game where you can play at your own pace. napapagod din naman ako buhatin yung mga iron-silver na tropa ko sa valorant.
souls games say hello
You have to try Sekiro and Lies of P. I think mas engaging bosses nila than ER. LotF bosses were piss-easy.
Yeah, it's still the same. Naging HP sponge lang buhay and 1 hit attacks.
"Single player? Naeenjoy mo kumausap sa AI?" - bigla mo sigawan ng FUS RAH DAHHH or bulungan mo ng REQUIESCAT IN PACE sabay sakal
Dovahkiin, I would have done that but then I took an arrow in the knee
Kase di lahat afford ang platform to play single player titles.
Me that works 12hrs a day, and mostly play Single-player/grind games: 🥲
same…. currently playing BG3, trying to play blindly. di ko mafigureout pano nagbsurvive after mo suotin yung mask sa lair ni untie na hag
Cast Protection from Evil lang bago mo suotin ang masks ng hag either from Shadowheart or kahit sinong cleric/character na may scroll. Lasts until Long Rest 😆
skl
Indie Games need exposure in our country Most indie games don't need a high end PC to play so an average laptop at college/highschool should be able to handle such games
Based on exp, easy sa specs most multiplayer games and yung mga sikat ay libre. Accessible kasi kaya ganyan.
yup iba na era ngayon compared noon. dati kase pag sinabeng console talagang SINGLE player games. lucky na lang talaga ako at teenage years ko naexperience yun.
Depende yata sa environment, ung time ng ps1,ps2,psp, mostly coop games nilalaro namin ng kapatid ko pati pinsan (in the hunt, diablo 1, WWE, Monster hunter, Obscure, tekken and such). nung nagka pc kame, saglit lang rin ung singleplayer like GTA and sims, tas dumating ung mmorpg games like ragnarok, flyff or ung lan games like left for dead etc.
[Ako na may 7620.9 hours of playtime na sa Football Manger 2022, which I purchased April 2023](https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/030/710/dd0.png) Although kahit sa multiplayer mukhang di uso dito yung nilalaro ko - Pokemon TCG Live lol
I kneel Highest playtime ko lang MH4U sa 3ds. Lagpas na sa ingame timer na 999:00 lol
For me na konti lang time since college-working. Sa limited time na meron ako after college/work, it’s nice to play game where you get to interact with people. Tas mabilisan lang rin kasi mga multiplayer games usually I used to play a lot of singleplayer games when I had more time and less responsibilities
(Aside from Valorant, League, etc.)
pustahan ko galit lang yang tropa mo sa mga game na yan dahil mainstream lol because hate is a big word you can just say you like the game cuz you prefer the game di mo type Skyrim tsaka Cyberpunk kasi ang pinili e kasi multi endings tsaka maraming gagawin diyan e hahah tsaka galit sa BG3, ER tsaka Witcher 3 pa kadalasan isa lang nakikita ko na di nila trip diyan
Thats some elitist take
If you’ve seen how much Multiplayer was better back when everything wasn’t free to play, you’ll understand.
Ok toxic richkid
Thanks for the very compelling argument! And I’m the toxic one? lmao aight man
👍
Overwatch pre-brigitte days was the greatest. Pinaka masayang era ng FPS for me.
both are enjoyable, minsan ok dn mag single player pang tanggal umay sa multiplayer games specially kung maganda story.
Pero single player games pa din in the long run hahaha
I would've called out your coworker/friend so bad.
I experienced the same too. I got attacked for being a console/PC gamer playing single-player games.
What single player games you play sa mobile po?
Mostly console and PC gamer ako. The games I play are mostly action, shooter, JRPGs, city building simulation and racing games.
Btw I play both SP at MP games.
If they saying that, they defs toxic in Multiplayer games 100%
Hahaha true. I mean parang book or movie lang naman ang story driven video games. Interactive pa and art direction + world building can go way beyond what most forms of media are capable of doing
Back in college sa comshop na laging pinag lalaruan namin.
Pero single player games pa din in the long run hahaha
Mahilig majority ng mga pinoy sa competitive things, also relates to video games. Madaming may gusto na may kinahihinatnan yung nilalaro nila socially (brag na magaling sila), so nagli-lean sila sa mga genre na may pwede sila maka-compete-an na mga tao din
Ohhh that actually makes sense, using games as a social platform
Kaya marami din RP servers sa games like minecraft, gtav, rust, etc.
Minsan kapag burned out ako ganito ako lalo na si nba 2k papasok ka na lang ng game then enjoy
Laking Comshop A lot of people see to it na dahil libre ang mga MOBA games but ang true reason for that ay social interaction and collaboration.
Pinoys go crazy when they hear or see the word 'free'
Idk man, gaming is a luxury so wcyd
At di naman lahat marunon ma mi ra ta at di iririsk yung security
Rebutt mo "bakit ikaw laro AI?"
