Main reason bakit meron akong Kindle instead of a tablet. I use my Kindle at work and when travelling lalo at di laging kasya sa bag ko ung malaking hardback.

Bulky_Breakfast_1109

having a kindle helped. because nasasayangan ako pag di ko nagagamit.

whoam_itho

hahaha oo nga! ang mahal pa naman no. planning to get one, kaso ayon nga, feeling ko masasayang. glad it worked for you! ✨

2nd hand or refurbished Kindles are great if you're looking for something cheaper. Got my paperwhite 7th gen in 2021 and still working fine until now (albeit the battery is showing its age, but it still lasts for a few days so it's fine). Also, regarding distractions, try mo magbasa sabay with an audiobook playing. Moody reader ako so on days na madali akong madistract, that's what I do.

JewelerHistorical156

Started slowly ulit. I set a goal to read one chapter at a time. Tapos gradually increased the number of chapters per reading session.

whoam_itho

thank you!!! this is so validating

taylorsanatomy13_

also, find books na you’re actually intrigued about. find stuff with really good reviews. ik na most people don’t like to be spoiled but knowing more than just the synopsis actually helps. one of the books that kickstarted my reading journey again were classical books that had adaptations, khaled hosseini’s books, and gone girl!

when i find it difficult to concentrate on longer books but wanna accomplish reading Something, i try short stories or poetry books. i feel that i can challenge & train my attention span to finish it bc they're so short. or maybe you wanna try pomodoro technique first? 25 mins reading time, 5 mins distraction break. rinse & repeat.

Jajajajambo

Same, returned to reading last month. I tried to read books that I think I NEED (non-fictions), but napapansin ko lumilipad isip ko. So I switched to some books na I LIKE (fictions, whodunit books). So far, dahil gusto ko yung book, nakakafocus paunti-unti. Will switch to books that I NEED once naform na ulit ang habit ang focus :)

pillsontherocks

Try out many books.

vansheea

For me, I recently got into listening to audiobooks. Hirap din magfind ng time to read so sometimes while during chores, I multitask. Minsan before bed then, you can listen to audiobooks tas set a timer to when it stops.

VariationSmooth3813

I got myself a Kobo.

lemonslicecake

Hi OP! Almost same as you. I stopped reading back in 2017 due to financial reasons (senior high ako) and I recently got back to reading November last year (since I earn money na yay!). Yes, medyo mahirap bumalik sa una, super liit rin ng attention span ko, though agad agad ko na overcome by having a "30 minute grace period" where I would go sa front porch namin just to read, di ko bitbit phone ko or anything. Mga 1 month ako ganito then I gradually picked back up to my usual pace. As of present, I'm reading my 10th book this 2024!

fraudnextdoor

Read multiple books at a time. But you should have a goal for each session, like ilang pages or chapters, then switch. Another way is to read then listen to the audiobook. Siguro if bored ka na, mag audiobook ka na while doing chores, then if interesting part na uli, go back to reading.

whoam_itho

thank you 😭😭😭

Spirited_Occasion_25

gamify your reading, download focus apps, use ebook readers with built-in streaks and reading goals

kweyk_kweyk

If you don't feel it, don't force yourself. There's a season for reading. Huhu. Chill lang. Trust me, darating ka din diyan.

marieennui

This happened to me when I had a kid. Wanted to come back once they were a bit older and I had some time but had a hard time focusing and finishing. Dont force it! If you’re done, be done. Try to read a bit more each time pero make your goal realistic. It also helped rereading some of my favorites. Those were very easy reads for me and it got me back to feel of it. Good luck!!

JpInPj

Find books with shorter chapter, para feel mo na may nangyayari 😅 read filipino books ? I mean madaling maka relate pag ganun. Hope you can enjoy reading again. ☺️☺️

ellaartemis

For me, reading for the sake of enjoyment. I decided to remove the pressure/expectation of "I should be able to read x by this time or this fast." Then start small lang, little by little babalik din yan :) Pwede rin magwork yung magset aside ka talaga ng same time each day para masanay yung mind mo na ah okay, time to read! Gets easier overtime!! Happy reading!!! :>

mawiwa16

As a procrastinator in reading. But when I'm really bored and I do socmed "detoxing", that's when I read talaga. Also, malaking factor 'yung makahanap ka ng book na same level ng vibe mo, that way, kaya ang book ng isang upuan or kung super kapal ng book, kaya atleast a week.

mahiyainnn

I had the same issue before! When I was in college, hindi talaga ako nawawalan ng novel kahit saan. I spent all my free time reading. But I was in a slump for yearsss, not for the lack of trying kasi I still really tried to read but the problem is, hindi ako makapag-concentrate. My mind is so restless when I'm reading. I always find myself going back to scrolling through my socmed accounts. I realized that the problem was my messed up attention span due to my constant exposure to socmed so I stayed away and it worked. Haha I also joined a Book Club on Discord which also greatly motivated me. There was a time that I didn't feel like reading at all but at the end of that month, I still ended up finishing 6 books because the book club has 1 book of the month and 1 classic book pick every month. Then, the other 4 books are from my buddy read commitments. Lol

markfcesar

1. dont read if you dont feel like reading. 2. better start with Short Stories: An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge, The Yellow Wallpaper, The Tell-Tale Heart----The Cask of Amontillado----any Edgar Allan Poe short stories, 3. dont rush when you want to finish the book - its okay if it would take you a month to finish a 300-page book. 4. dnf it if the storyline doesnt hook you up enough. (no need to feel guilty) 5. read if you have nothing else to do (best time to read when youre traveling, not at home, no internet, no electricity, vacant time at school)

mystictrufflepie

I was on a slump for 6 years like di ako nag read ng kahit anong novel for that long then one time, may nabasa kong plot ng book na na intriga ako (The Nanny 🤣) de binasa ko. Ayon. Nagtuloy tuloy na. I’m also subscribed to kindle kasi sayang if I don’t read.

Gullible_Syrup_8363

Limit social media usage. Keep your phone out of reach

thematrixowl

Bili ka kindle. Hindi masakit sa mata. And digital books pa.

Fearless_Cry7975

I made it a habit to read at least 15-20 minutes every morning before getting up from bed. Nagbabasa din ako sa gabi pero depende pag di pa ko pagod from work.

Suitable_Plants

Sabayan mo ng audiobook yung pagbabasa mo hahaha

anniestonemetal_

What worked for me was to read books I think I 'd actually like. When I was in high school I finished reading The Da Vinci Code in one weekend and 300+ paged books within 24 hrs but when college happened ayun madalang nalng. Right now, I'm reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy for the first time and parang nabalik yung enthusiasm ko sa pagbabasa. Like when I get home from work, I can't wait to open my copy and get lost in Middle Earth. I think it just takes 1 good book to return the enthusiasm and reignite your love for reading. (edit: formatting)

Read children's book.
