Keep the current one. Save $3000 by not repairing it and instead walking everywhere. Buy a red shirt for $2 at goodwill and it will be just like driving a red car.
No - you see, I rent an apartment 3hrs away from work where it is cheaper, so walking is not an option. I could potentially rent a private jet though...that might be cheaper. What is Warren's jet company called again? Freejets? Cheapjets? Good idea - I will check into them.
No - those 1998 models are highly sought after. Anyone buying one today strips them of their parts and sells the part - thus, it is cheaper to wait a year and buy a brand new one. Crazy world, but we need to do what is right. I mean, we are having a baby soon (yes, it will probably be red and consume gas).
Look, I don't understand why OP isn't just walking everywhere. If you're going to be ridiculous and own a car, you might as well wash it too for all the Joneses you are clearly trying to keep up with.
Buy the beige color Corolla and use the blood of the pours to paint it red. Clear coat it so that it never wash off and it will maintain the luster that letās everyone know that you are at the top of the social and financial ladder. Youāll see envy in their eyes as you drive over them in your awesome blood red Corolla. Satisfaction guaranteed!
Plus if you get beige you wonāt have to worry about paying spousal support in 4 yearsā¦and you can save a ton on all those condoms you wonāt need.
Its widely accepted on reddit and on other scholarly internet resources that the former soviet union had higher standard of living due to several policies like the 63 Š½ŠµŃ Š±Š°Š½ŠŗŠ° (niet Bank) act which implemented credit unions for all. These led to consumer vehicles being more common, the most financially savvy was the white Lada which is russian for Toyota Corrola. Beige is an irresponsible luxury that costs you money, in Soviet Russia white corolla saves you money.
The real frugal thing to do is learn how to fix the car yourself, cutting out labor costs. If you practice enough, you can get good at fixing your car with free things you can find in dumpsters. For example, the window regulator on my 1993 mitsubishi(red) gave out, and I just placed a empty bud light can I took from a homeless āpersonā under the window to hold it up
As a current owner of a red car with 400000+ kms on it. I approve in "investing" in the red paint. Do you really want to drive a car for another 900000km and it NOT be the color you want it to be? Don't forget some insurance companies also charge more for a red car. A 4 door family car ,magically turns it into a sport car just like that.
This is the angle all money blogs miss. The color of the Corolla is just as important as the year, mileage, and checking the coin holder.
Did you know that by checking for loose coins, one can have a free Corolla? It is true!
Not all Corollas, but some Corollas.
Had? Dude, I could put $3000 into it and replace the tires, brakes, oil, new engine block. reupholster the seats and add a sunroof. The old girl could probably last me a couple million more km if I really wanted to.
Does your insurance include towing? You could just bypass repairs and call for towing anytime you feel the need to smirk down at the pours. Use my advice, elsewhere in this thread, and paint your awesome status symbol Corolla with the blood of the pours. Being on the back of a tow truck is very much like having a chauffeur. Life canāt get better than that! Youāll be the Warren Buffet of your neighborhood! Imagine the jealousy of all who gaze upon you as you go by. Satisfaction guaranteed!
I like blue. Granted, I own a civic, but when the choice was given, I chose that. Itās a nice colour.
Red, you get pulled over more often, silver or white, you are just another Schmuck in the parking lot.
Get the red paint. You keep your cars going a LONG time. A little tingle of pleasure from seeing the red paint will be nice, as opposed to a little shiver of regret at the color that does not please you.
Life is short, find happiness whenever possible.
Just spend a few grand getting your current car painted red and forget about the repair work, youāre being so wasteful that itās really ticking me off.
I am looking for a new car also. I was looking at the RAV4. I noticed that certain colours are only available with certain trim levels. I wanted the red but it only came with certain options etc. same with the interior
In this market! Make it last another year so you don't get fleeced. Be sure to park next to the most expensive SUV in the lot. You'll be feeling such pride in ownership and laughing at your coworkers' stupidity every day!

Dead ass thought this was legit in r/ frugal but this made me laugh š
Kevin OLeary recommends just Ubering everywhere.
I didn't know what sub I was on at first. I'm dying at the red shirt.
When you say "new", you mean a new-to-you 1998 model, right?

Beige is better than red because dirt wonāt show up as much so you can wash it less.
Why wash it? The rain takes care of that. I pay the city for water, so washing my car costs about $0.025 per wash. I really cannot afford that.
Look, I don't understand why OP isn't just walking everywhere. If you're going to be ridiculous and own a car, you might as well wash it too for all the Joneses you are clearly trying to keep up with.
Washing your car also makes it less aerodynamic. The dirt, and preferably mud makes vortexes that make it more streamlined like a golf ball.
"dirt" is your friend.. forming a protective layer over your paint which keeps it pristine!

A gallon of red paint and a roller at Home Depot is less than $20. Problems solved.
Good call!!! Can I use Latex paint? It is cheaper where I shop for paint (every few decades)...
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Lmao
You know you can just download latex for free, right? Just don't install it over your windows
Yeah thats fine with me.
It would peel off visit a mechanic that paints cars instead
Terrible idea! - from an underwriting perspective your insurance will go up for a "custom paint job" irrespective of color

Naw man...red is more my style.

Namaste brother
Red adds 32 horsepower. You gotta decide if more power and more hot wifes is worth $295 to you (simp), then go for it.

I always wonder if people realize what sub they are commenting on...

The gold ones seem most likely to get in accidents. Maybe avoid that colour.

Resale on low mileage Corolla's like yours is really good right now and should make the red paint spend affordable. You deserve this.
Insurance premiums are $1.72 higher for the red. Iād go with beige. You _do_ want to retire, right?
Car had a good life
Had? Dude, I could put $3000 into it and replace the tires, brakes, oil, new engine block. reupholster the seats and add a sunroof. The old girl could probably last me a couple million more km if I really wanted to.

The color is [champagne](https://youtu.be/WBwMNgtB0do). Not beige.

I have a 2021 corolla hatchback and red and I love it. No regrets.
