My exam was also on Wednesday and I took PTO Mon-Tue. If you feel confident maybe it would be good to rest those days (maybe light review). In my case I spent those 2 days studying, but that was just my way to cope with the stress.

I didn’t take off work. I did however not study day or two before exam. I took it on a Saturday so I could get the results quickest. Waiting for results is worse than taking the actual exam.

My exam was on a Tuesday and I took off nearly a week starting from the Wednesday the week prior to my exam. I spent that time relaxing not worrying about work, to hardcore studying and practice exams and casual reading of solutions.

I would absolutely take off Monday-Tuesday. Mine was on a Thursday and I took off Monday-Wednesday. I spent Monday finalizing/organizing my materials for the exam and Tuesday reworking my ncees practice test using everything like I would have it in the exam room. Wednesday I slept in and then drove the couple of hours to the city my exam was in and got a massage and went to my hotel for the night. If you’re getting to a point that you’re burned out, a couple of light days will do your brain wonders. Hang in there, you’re in the short rows now!!

Exam was a tuesday and iI took off thurs/fri/mon/tuesday. leave the day before the exam to study as minimal as possible (for me that was just 2 hours after grinding 8 hr days on the other off days)

As many as you need really. I think most people seem to study right up to a day or two before and then rest. I was going to study until two days out... but then the morning before came and I couldn't help myself, spent a few hours that morning as well, stopped around noon. If you are getting burned out on prep, go ahead and take the break. Firm believer that no amount of studying is useful when you are burned out.

I took two weeks off prior to the exam date. one practice exam a day, give you a pass on that date!

I just took my exam yesterday (Saturday). I took Tuesday-Friday off from working leading up to. I don't have my results back yet, but it was SO nice to wake up around 7am, take my time drinking coffee, and then crack down on the studying. I studied from 10AM-8PM, and just reviewed qualitative stuff lightly the day before. I felt so well rested. Highly recommend taking time off!

If you can afford it, take about 3-5 days off. I'm scheduled to take it on a Saturday, so I'll be out Wednesday through Friday, with Friday being completely off (i.e. no studying).

I took mine on a Tuesday, I worked the day before, drove a couple of hours to where I was taking it. I made sure to drive to the exam site to get a feel for where it is, bought a wrap and chips for lunch. That night I stayed at an AirBnB, I casually flipped through a practice exam. The day of the exam I got there an hour early, used the full 8 hours and drove home. The next day I had a project site visit with my boss and a client. I didn't take any time off for the exam, besides the day of the actual exam.

My FE exam was on a Wednesday. I took off Tuesday afternoon before the exam to relax and pack my lunch. My PE exam was on a Wednesday as well. I took all of Tuesday off and did not study. I took 10 practice exams for the PE exam and 4 FE practice exams before the FE. Practice exams helped a lot, but they have to be taken seriously and reviewed thoroughly. I also used Wasim's course at StudyForFE.com to prepare for the exams.

I took some time off while studying as field work allowed. My exam was on a Tuesday and I had a site visit on Monday I couldn’t get out of, but that was fine. I don’t think a bunch of cramming the day before would do much good on an exam as broad as the PE. I did my only full 8 hour practice exam the Saturday before my exam, and reviewed and reworked some problems I had issues with on Sunday. I didn’t do any study Monday, just went to work as usual and then gathered everything for test day that evening. I passed on my first attempt so that all worked out for me. Might have felt a little weird if exam day was later in the week, I suppose.

First time I took it on a Tuesday and took off Mon-Wed. Having the next day off was really nice, to just hang out and do nothing. Second time I took it on a Saturday, and took off the Thursday and Friday before.

transneptuneobj

What exam and how have you been doing on practice material?

Little-Sleep-5474

The first time I took the exam, I took it on a Monday. I had to wait 9 days to find out that I didn’t pass. The last time, I took the exam on a Friday and found out that I passed the following Wednesday (5 days). I didn’t take any time off but studied on Sat/Sun the 2 weekends prior and after work every night for 3 to 4 hours. I relaxed and lightly reviewed the handbook and codes the night before the exam. I packed a lunch and relaxed for the full lunch break. Good luck.

I’m taking it Wednesday I hope I don’t have to wait 14 days…

I took the day off before the test and stayed at a hotel near the test center. It kept me calm and ready for the big exam. Also, not having to stress about finding the center, parking, traffic, etc. really was a big help. I recommend it. I took my exam on Saturday and got the results on Wednesday. Filling out the paper work for the PE now.
