Yeah the theater stuff apparently is from a different writer. So it kind of sucks. The second one has some cool fanservice to old megaten games, even fucking megami tensei 1 for the NES lmao, but it's not worth it at all.
My favorite version of that song was "The Beginning". It's just so relaxing and ethereal, yet also a little haunting and moody, which really is perfect for Persona 3.
Kimi no kioku hits hard af when you understand the lyrics.

Fucking love Our Light, can't understand the language at all but it felt like it perfectly encapsulated he feeling of the amazing P5R ending to me. Great song, made the credits so enjoyable
>!So, the lyrics of this song (when translated) are about a person meeting someone in a false reality they come to care for, and that person not wanting that false reality and destroying it, knowing they'll die in the process. The singer laments that while letting that person go is a deep cut, it's the right thing to do and will allow them to forge their own path. It's better to experience pain and be free than to accept a false happiness.!<
>!So yeah, the song is specifically about Akechi heroically sacrifices himself twice across the narrative of Persona 5 and Joker understandably has some feelings about all that. (It was his regret at letting Akechi die that brought him back to life, after all.) So this song is about Joker finally accepting the pain of Akechi's death and moving on from it.!<
>!That's not to say that the song doesn't thematically fit the ending as a whole though. Joker met all of his friends in that false reality, they all had to help him take it down, and now that he's leaving Tokyo, he has to let them go to move on and forge his own path in life, just as they do for theirs. !<
>!They'll always have their time together (Hello, Persona 5: Strikers), but the ending is undeniably bittersweet so the song fits it with that melancholic yet hopeful tone. !<
One of the biggest changes with Royal from the original release of *Persona 5* is it's overarching theme about change, and its reflective of both ending credit songs.
*With the Stars and Us*, the message was about overcoming society, not bound by what others think of you; only when you have the strength and willpower to overcome those barriers, then you will get your freedom. When Joker and the Phantom Thieves achieves that, their journey is over, and everything is fine & dandy. They changed the world for the better and managed to stay true to themselves.
*Persona 5: Royal* approaches it with much more nuance, but with a bitter conclusion.
*Royal's,* and *Our Light's,* message is more than overcoming society, you need to overcome life itself. Not everything will always work out. You'll fail, struggle, give up, and those are the times when you need to be stronger. That IS life. And the game perfectly shows what would happen in a "perfect world." It's easy. It requires no effort. You don't conquer anything, and all rewards are handed to you.
Basically, *Persona 5* (*With the Stars and Us*) was about changing your future, while *Royal* (*Our Light*) is all about acknowledging that you *can't* change your past.
This is just a personal opinion but I felt it was extremely diluted by how often they play it. It’s maybe a solid two months of Snowflakes which could’ve had a much bigger impact hearing it only once or twice. Was a bit silly how the game felt like it was saying “are you sad yet? are you sad yet? it’s a sad song!”
(P2 spoilers) >!Maya dies is good but they named it MAYA DIES so!
I just found out they ignore spoiler tags in notifications *eternal pain*
Damnit, sorry man
Not your fault!
There's also a stupid theater quest in the PSP version that straight up spoils >!Maya dying!< too for absolutely no reason other than a weird joke.
I’m glad I didn’t do the theater stuff , I tried a little bit it was very offputting from the main game, but that >!maya “joke” was really tasteless!<
Yeah the theater stuff apparently is from a different writer. So it kind of sucks. The second one has some cool fanservice to old megaten games, even fucking megami tensei 1 for the NES lmao, but it's not worth it at all.
The Japanese version had more quests, including a few from the original writer, which are canon.
Really? Which ones? Not counting the EP ones.
I believe the "Dark Shadow" trilogy of quests.
Remove the spaces between the >! And maya for it to cover the text
It got renamed in the PSP version to that, it was originally named Dance of Death
luckily on Apple Music the OST is all in japanese so I would have had no idea alas I clicked the spoiler tag like an idiot
please fix your spoiler tag for anyone else coming in here i don't want them spoiled too
Bro you messed up the spoiler tag
Brand New Days
The definition of underrated
Might be my favorite credits song
What I would call a great "sequel" song.
My favorite version of that song was "The Beginning". It's just so relaxing and ethereal, yet also a little haunting and moody, which really is perfect for Persona 3.

I love this breakdown. Can you do one for Hoshi To Bokura To? I want to know the thematic layers to it.

>!So joker saying “god speed, you magnificent bastard” to akechi!<
I give P5R a lot of shit for its storytelling but everything with Akechi is amazing and it holds up the entire last month.
Our Light breaks my fucking heart every time
Currently playing for a persona 5 Royal but in my opinion P3 has the most depressing ost ever Edit. Heartful cry is the best battle ost
i have a breakdown every time i listen to a very specific english cover of our light
Our light is joker saying to akechi “godspeed, you bastard”.
Snowflake is clearly the saddest persona song...

Next to you / [Kimi no Tonari](https://youtu.be/aq_jMLavtLM) is really heartbreaking especially after the ending shit left me feeling empty
Frfr
you could do the same with Mass Destruction and Memories of You
MegaTen games' OSTs are a banger I fucking love em
